New iTunes/iPhone software version?

I just tried to manually check for updates for both the iTunes software and the iPhone and it says the server is not avaliable. Anyone else getting this?
Maybe the Wi-Fi capability is about to be launched?
For those of you looking to boost your rep around here-yeah, it's specualtion; yeah, I know we don't know until it actually comes out. Stop bursting people's bubbles and posting links where they can request new capabilities and updates for the phone... just let it be.

Update:
Nevermind...it's saying everything is current again

I am trying to upgrade my iPhone software version from 4.3.4 to the latest and keep getting this message whenever I hit <Update> or <Restore>.  "The iPhone software update server could not be contacted" - what should I do?

Start by making sure you have disabled any firewall or antivirus programs.

  • Help with iTunes/iPhone/Software update

Hi all, I have a MacBook Pro and am running OS X version 10.5.8 on it.  However, when I plug in my iPhone 4GS in it now, it says that it can't be used unless I have the new version of iTunes (currently showing version of iTunes 10.6.3)--- however, when I check for software updates, nothing is coming up and it says everything is up to date.  If I directly try to download the newest version of iTunes, it says my OS isn't up to date...  This is something new that has occurred within the last couple of months.  I didn't have a problem with it before.  Help please!!!
    Thanks!
    Clueless Mac User

If you need the current iTunes 10.7, you'll need to upgrade to OS X 10.6. You can buy it online from the Apple store or call them, which in the US is 800-MY-APPLE.

  • Problem updating iphone software version 4.3.3

Every time I have tried to update the iphone software when prompted by itunes it crashes, sometimes at the end of the update sometimes before. It comes up with an error message every time. Please can someone help?

First thing I'd do is check that I have the latest version of iTunes. This has cought me out a few times. Other thing that I've experienced is a iTunes seems to think there is a problem with my USB socket, so I've tried another and it's worked fine.
But yes what is your error and error number?

  • I upgrade to Iphone software version 7.0.4.All of my photos and contacts are now missing.

I upgraded my iphone to the software version 7.0.4
since the upgrade all of my photos and contacts are missing.
Any suggestions on how to retrieve?

So, I guess my iPhone upgraded without me being aware. But nevertheless I am now running iOS 7.0.4.
I've noticed the last few days that I'm encountering sporadic contact  disappearance. I'll get a text, the notification shows their name, maybe a few minutes later i'll go to read the full message and now no name, just a number. I'll look and ALL my contacts are gone. the conversation screen has nothing but numbers and the favorites under phone are just numbers. Search can still work by name though so the phone "knows" that joe is 555-5555, but is not showing the connection.
    TEMPORARY WORKING FIX:
Turning off contacts in my icloud settings and choosing to delete the contacts on my phone, then re-enabling contacts will pull them all back down for me. This of course takes about 5-10 minutes for everything to sync back to the phone.
    I've tried restarting the phone.
    I've tried resetting the phone.
I don't feel like wasting my time with a backup unless I can downgrade to something before 7.0.4 as it is obvioiusly buggy.
I am NOT going to set up as a new phone until this becomes a much bigger problem.
I hope this offers insight to others encountering this bug. My mother has had this happen on her phone as well. Please comment at least if you experience this. the more people that have it, the less chance apple can play it off as an isolated event on my phone.

  • What is the best way to migrate to a new computer and software version?

New computer, new software version.  Brand new MacPro with OS X v10.9.4 and Pegasus Promise 24 TB R8 Raid 5.  Old machine would only run FCX v10.0.9.  All project and media files on eSATA drives hooked up to (really) old MacPro.  No room to make copies on that system.
Ready to start copying projects and events to the new machine via ethernet cable hookup.  Haven't yet updated FCX to the latest version on the new machine.  Need some advice first.
What would be the most efficient method of getting the many terabytes of events and projects transferred to the new machine?  Should I copy everything via FC instead of the finder on the old machine and then try to relink media, or Just use the new machine to suck everything over to the Pegasus via the finder and update FC and use the new media management features to to relink?  Or is there a means of transferring the data without loosing the links?
My head is spinning!  Feels like there are bees living in there.
    Any and all suggestions welcome.
    Jimbo

You also need to ask yourself how many of the old projects you really need to copy across.
We tend to get very  attached to our old projects and don't like to trash them "in case we need them in the future".
Frequently we don't require them any more and they just litter our systems.
As long as you keep copies of the original media on the SD cards/tapes, you can always revisit them, albeit with a bit of work  .  .  .  though I generally find that repeating a project is much quicker than the original as most of the edit decisions remain in your memory.

  • New Updated iphone software causing problems

Ever since the update last week of the iphone software, my "other" category is using 6.42 GB. Is anyone else having an issue with this?

I am having the same problem, with 6.26 GB attributed to Other. I am reluctant to Restore because I don't want to lose data that is not synched to my Mac.
I only sync with a G5 iMac. All my software is up-to-date, and I am concerned.
I cannot say it is due to my iPhone update. It just started today, well after the iPhone update.

  • NEW Konnekt 24D Software Version 1.2.1

I just found this new Version of the Konnekt 24D and thought I will share this news with you
Probably a new PowerCore Version is not far away...
    VERSION 1.21
    Note!
    * Assimilator Konnekt users should uninstall the Assimilator before installing this
    * Please make sure to update your firmware
    * Read the notes below carefully
    Known issues with this version
MAC: We encourage Konnekt Mac users to update to OSX 10.4.10, since this has proven to deal
    with audio drop out problems.
PC: We have seen some systems with audio drop outs. Disabling, for instance, the Ethernet
network card or the CD-Rom drive solves the drop out problem.
We are currently working on a driver version this will fix this.
On some systems crackle occurs when opening the control panel at the same time as running
    audio.
    PC:
    Software is now VISTA compatible!
    PC & Mac
    Control Panel:
    * Internal changes and updates for higher stability implemented
    * Nickname moved from Setup page to About page
    * Double line tooltips
    * Fabrik plug-ins: No output problem fixed.
    * Fabrik plug-ins: Metering problem fixed.
    * installer: Driver is now 100% signed by Microsoft. This means that we now have a very nice
    installation process.

Here's one thread that discusses this.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1273395&tstart=50
You won't find any list published by Apple that details what's contained in software updates, but 1.2.3 was released to address an incompatibility between iTunes 7.5 and some Windows OS.
Fwiw, I've updated without any issues but can't say I've noticed any dramatic improvement (or otherwise!) of my iPod.

  • New itunes/ipod software blocks Internet Explorer (IE)

I have new ipod (30 GB) for Xmas, which comes with new software and recommends installing it, even if you have it already for better performance..., but it blocks connection to Internet among many other problems caused to many other users.
Is any way to fix it or have to wait until new software is fix?
Between all many bigger problems I read I did not see this.
Check settings deeply by myself first and then with IP: PC not shows any signs of changes on settings, modem works properly and my other computer was able to connect to Internet. We conclude it was no problem of connection with IP system or hardware, was with any new software update or program installed yesterday as itunes, real player or windows media player.
Then uninstall ipod software and after restart was able to reconnect to Internet.
Reinstall ipod software to see if now all works properly but not, same problem again, so I have to uninstall again new ipod/ itunes software, just hope Apple fix it or be able to use old software with new ipod.
Before have a shuffle only .
Does old itunes software should work in the same way for both, right?
Because I am not using new again until is fix.
Reading all problems everybody else has I am very lucky, not lost previous songs and was able to install and download songs to ipod from itunes, real player and windows media player. I did not try quick time yet.
    Thank you for any help.

    bcr88
I'm assuming you haven't gotten any help with this problem?
So perhaps I can revive a little activity here ... I have the same problem, but with a twist:
    1) From behind my corporate firewall, I can do all sorts of "iTunes things" such as access the iTMS and download purchases. And, of course, I can access all sorts of other services on the internet via the firewall just fine (so obviously my proxy settings are correct).
    2) From behind the firewall, if I connect either my 5th gen iPod or 3rd gen Nano and the iPod firmware is out of date, I'll get the message saying there's a newer version of the s/w ... and if I click "Update" I'll then get a dialog saying "iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the Internet. Make sure your Internet connection is active and try again."
    3) From outside of the firewall (with proxies turned off), the update works just fine.
This seems to point to iTunes (7.6.1) as having a problem with negotiating a firewall for the download service only.
Hoping someone from Apple is listening and replies with some clues to fixing this ...
