NEW iTUNES REFUSES TO INSTALL

i have tried everything and nothing works. when i installed itunes i saved it in a folder under tools. after i downloads a windows installer box appears saying "preparing to install." after that box disappears, nothing happens. the only time the itunes installation window appears is when my computer is shuting down. but i can't finish it because my computer is already in the middle of shutting down. it says that there is some sort of error, but i can't read it because the window only appears for less than a second. i've repeated this process several times, sometimes opting to "open" instead of "Save."
i tried installing an older version of itunes and it gave me error number 0x80040707. but it still managed to install successfully. but since it's an older version, it's not compatible with my ipod.
i've looked through the site and the forum, and nobody seems to have this particular problem with the installation.
i'm completely desparate and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

  • New ITUNES won't install

i recently tried to upgrade my itunes to the latest one. everytime i tried to install it there would be a message saying that it is from an unknown publisher and then another one would come up saying not a valid win32 application. any answers?

I think i've fixed all my problems.
Here's what i did. After a many hours (thanks Apple!) of reinstalling and system restores I finally gave up. 1 day later Windows releases a huge windows update with like 4 patches. I ran and installed that update. I tried to listen to a Quicktime audio stream but like I mentioned before, it wouldn't work unless I installed the lastest Quicktime. So I was directed to the Apple site to download quicktime (again...) I chose to download it without iTunes. It worked! I started to think...well if it worked, maybe upgrading to itunes 7 will work now. So I took the chance to download the new itunes 7 upgrade after painfully getting itunes6 up again (which didn't end up working...no sound would play) and VOILA! iTunes 7 worked because it recognized that my QUicktime was uptodate this time. I think it had something to do with the windows update that wasn't available the day all this mess happened! ANyways, only experiencing the odd song that will sound static and distorted on the new iTUnes7, but if I stop the file from playing and restart it, sounds fine. I really like the free Album Art.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Help, iTunes refusing to install!

I've been trying to install the new update for iTunes for nearly a week now and for some reason, I can't.
Every time I try to do it, an error message pops up saying 'Apple Application Support was not found'. Can I ask what this even is? It's driving me crazy.
Also, it says 'error 2 (windows error 2)'... Don't have a clue what that is either.
Somebody, please just help me. I'm at my wits end with a phone that desperately needs backing up and sorting out. And I can't do either of those things until I figure out how to get iTunes working again.
    Thank you.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I tried to install the new itunes but didnt install correctly

I tried to install the new version of itunes. it didnt download correctly. i uninstalled itunes and tried to download it again but I keep getting a message that the "apple device support " didnt download correctly and keeps showing me "windows error code 1114.

    Many thanks.
If it's saying it can't find the iTunes.msi or iTunes64.msi, we should try the following procedure.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • TS1717 New itunes won't install in win8

Why won't the new 64 bit 11.0.4.4 install as admin? It loads a bar in the middle of the window then disappers.

hmmmm. what version of the Windows Installer do you have on your PC?
the easiest way to check is to head into your Add/Remove (don't uninstall anything) and see if there is a "(KB893803)" next to your entry for Windows Installer.
if there isn't one, try upgrading to Windows Installer version 3.1v2. see:
    Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435) is available

  • New iTunes will not install there is a problem with the GEARAspiWDM driver

    THe message says exactly this:
"Unable to install the GEAR driver set at this time. THe GEARAspiWDM service use by the GEAR driver set is scheduled to be deleted during the next system reboot. Please reboot the system and run iTunes again."
Ive rebooted about four times and it hasnt helped. What should I do??

With that one, let's try getting an installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address: [email protected]
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
