New ITunes unable to Play videos Help please!

I recently transferred all my videos and music over from my old itunes which was on a desktop to my new laptop. The music plays fine and I can watch and listen to music on my new ipod which has been synced to this computer. I am however having an issue watching videos through itunes itself, all i get is a funky green screen and the audio. Any ideas?

Unfortuneatly at this point, mant people are having play back problems with any DRM video...some people seem to work, a large portion do not. The problem seems to be one of 3 things:
- A grey screen with no sound or video
- A grey screen with no sound or video, and apple prompt the account to be re-authorized over and over again, even after it is authorized and music is playinf
- A green screen with sound but no video
Unfortunately I have tried all of the fixes suggested (seach for my posts, you will see what I have tried), but apple support is unable to help me and many others...and we're out in the cold. My suggestion: NON DRM all the way, it just works, quicktime and itunes play any NON DRM, unfortunelty, thats not the way its all going, so...you have to make a choice now...walk on the dark side or...wait..and hope......that apple will eventually come up with a solution. I'll put my faith in the Dark Side for now...evil just works.

    I have the new iTunes (not sure which version to be honest, whichever was the last to pop up!) and have since downloaded a film from the apple store. It finished downloading and I am now trying to watch it but it won't go 30 seconds without freezing! It then seems to fast forward itself for a couple of seconds to catch up to the point where it should be! Very frustrating as it is the first film I have bought from itunes!!! I have since tried to download another version of itunes, and then tried to play it on Quicktime and it still freezes! Does anybody know how I can get it to play properly!? Help is appreciated.

    The batch file didn't solve it, but deleting the first preference file: iTunesPref.xml seems to have worked, what it has done so far, on re-clicking on iTunes is that a whole bunch of podcasts downloaded that were not there before (some older ones I may have previously deleted or never downloaded under the podcast subscriptions, am not sure which) and itunes recreated a new preference file. In any event itunes has not frozen yet (half hour to go before podcast updates). Anyway I recommend you to look at the troublshoot page. It should be put at the top of these discussion lists, to save us all several hours of searching for solutions.

  • New Problem - Unable to Play Videos

    Our U300s ideapad isn't able to play quicktimes via web browsers. It plays flash streaming video no problem, like off sites like youtube. And if we download the quicktime to the hard drive, then we can play it fine. But if we try to play it via a browser, we just see a black screen, but we do hear the video's audio track. We've updated quicktime and the graphics driver, still the same issue. It happens the same in explorer, chrome and firefox.
    Anybody else seen this? Any ideas out there?

    If you're using Internet Explorer, can you check if the addons below are enabled under Tools > Manage Addons.
    QuickTme Object
    QuickTmeCheck Class 
    If it's enabled, try to clean install a fresh copy of Quicktime by removing all quick time files
    1. Download and install Revo Uninstaller Portable and use the software to uninstall Quicktime (use advanced mode to remove registry contents)
    2. Verify that the following are deleted:
    Folder 
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicktime
    File
    C:\Windows\syswow64\Quicktime.qts
    C:\Windows\syswow64\QuicktimeVR.qts
    3. Reboot the machine and reinstall a fresh copy of Quicktime.
    4. Try to play a quicktime trailer using this link
    Note:
    You must use 32bit version of Internet Explorer for Quicktime to work.

    Try connecting the device to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restoring it.  Use the instructions in this Apple support document to place the iPod into recovery mode.

    You can't play movies in iPhoto.  But, you can in quicktime, which is installed along with the OS.  Just double click on the .mov file and quicktme should start.

  • ITunes freezes when playing video.

    I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Let me start by saying I've seen many others complain about this with mostly no resolution.
    To elaborate, when initiating any video in iTunes (be it a movie, TV show, music video, or iTunes Store preview), the application immediately hangs. No errors -- iTunes just stops responding and can only be closed by killing its process. I've tried all the solutions people hash out time and again to no avail. This has been happening since iTunes 10, and ever since I've been playing all its videos through QuickTime (which works perfectly).
    In Safe Mode, however, a black box appears briefly (as if the video's about to play), before a Windows "iTunes has stopped responding" prompt comes up. Not only that, but I also get two error logs in Event Viewer:

    I don't know how helpful these logs are, but I've never seen anyone post anything similar when reporting this issue. Microsoft's link in the second one's header tells you to install a "newer" version of iTunes 64-bit even if you have the newest one (and I've done it with no improvement). In one post, iTunes wouldn't play video for somebody until they were told to uninstall Klite Codec Pack. This was the only time I came across this suggestion, and, having Klite, did it too, but with no improvement. iTunes still hangs when trying to play video, it crashes "properly" with a Windows prompt when trying to play video in Safe Mode, and QuickTime works fine (which I guess is my only solution).
    Some insight from Apple would be appreciated. This has been happening since iTunes 10, so I consider the problem to be on iTunes' end rather than my system's, which has by and large been a constant the whole time.

    Codec packs are notorious for causing iTunes problems.
    Try searching c:\windows\SysWOW64 for files with Quicktime in the name.
    There should be just two:
    Quicktime.qts
    QuicktimeVR.qtx
    If there are any other files or folders, try dragging them to the desktop ot any temporary folder.
    Does that make any difference.
    After doing that, do you have the latest Quicktime installed, if not update it.

    sorry it's not my apple id. it's my icloud email/account. after i updated to ios 8.1.2 my icloud acct on my phone is wrong. it's using my old college email address instead of my current icloud account email. my old college email address *used* to be my apple id, but i changed my apple id to my gmail account a few months back. anyway i can't "sign out" or delete the icloud account bc it thinks my college email address is my icloud account and it  keeps asking for the password. so i'll type in the current password for my icloud account and it says it's wrong and i need to retry or change the password, which i've already done twice and nothing changes. probably bc its asking for the password associated with the college email address it thinks is my icloud acct.
    i can access icloud on my desktop without a problem...   make any sense?  do i have to restore my phone now or is there a solution?  i've wasted the last 2 days trying to figure this out. i can't send or receive emails on my iphone bc of this. which really ***** for work.

    well i have to be honest, but i don't know if it the vista you use has any significance for this. but you can try.
    okay follow:
    1: click "start" on the status line on the buttom of your screen.
    2: then click on "all Programs" and find "Accessories" and find the "command prompt"
    3: Right click with your mouse "command prompt" and click on "run as administrator"
    (as you has click'd on "run as administrator", "command prompt" should appear.)
    4: when it appears you need to type this "netsh windsock reset"
    5: wait for your computer to registrer the command you gave it, and restart your computer.
    then erverything should be pretty much as good or better then new.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Are you following these instructions.
    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
    Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

    Im having a similar promblem! Only its doesnt work on my Itunes library and the song ends at 49 seconds. Have you fixed your problem yet?
