i updated itunes and now it wont open and keeps giving me an error message MSVCR80.dll is missing. what do i do? i dont want to lose everything

    Hi there,
Earlier iTunes (and supporting applications) need to be completely uninstalled before you can install the new version. Here's the complete Apple info on this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Mobile device application will most likely fail to uninstall, so you would need to visit its location(s) and manually delete the files then folder(s). The location of the folders is documented in this link from Apple.
You won't lose your music when you uninstall iTunes. It's located in your music folder and won't be touched.

  • HT203175 I updated iTunes and now it wont open. Is there a fix that doesn't require re-installing it?

I did the latest update for iTunes and now it wont open. It says my version is corrupted. Is there a way to fix it without re-installing?

    Just remove and reinstall iTunes.
This has no affect on the media on the computer.

  • TS1490 updated to new verison and now it wont open itunes store..

updated to new verison 10.63 and now it wont open itunes store..very vey upset.

it just says accessing itunes store but will not open
    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • I updated itunes and now it wont open, what do i do?

I updated itunes, and not it wont open on my computer, what do i do?

Unfortunately uninstalling and reinstalling or repairing iTunes alone won't fix the problem, you need to remove other components too....
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Tried to update itunes but now it wont open,an error message comes up ??

i have tried to update my itunes but now i am not able to open it and an error message comes up saying "this application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found . re installing the application may fix the problem" . i dont know how to reinstall it or how to fix it help !??

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Itunes app wont open keeps saying apple aplication support was not found

my itunes wont open it keeps saying that apple aplication suppourt was not found

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version). If the following link takes you to the WinRAR home page rather than the WinRAR downloads page, click the Downloads header in the box at the left of the WinRAR home page to see the trial version downloads:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I have tried to upgrage my itunes but now it wont open!!!

    Hi!!
ive got myself in a bit of a mess, ive tried to update my itunes and followed the process ... after restarting my computer i clicked on the itunes icon and it asked me to choose a language so i followed the installation process again, and downloaded it, and then restarted my comp again. when clicking on the icon again it asked for a language again! this was an on going cycle it refused to open! and stated that the latest version was already on the computer.
After weeks of frustation i looked on your prob page and found someone with the same problem... and so i downloaded the required windows cleaner and got rid of itunes, i deleated all my itunes folders. and then went to start afresh by downloading itunes again but when i completed this it stated that a later verion of itunes is already on this computer!... and i cant seem to find it!
i no longer have the itunes icon and i cant find itunes or anything to do with itunes on my system, but i no it must be on there some where... could you please give me some advice as what i could do or try? im just dieing to put some new songs on my pod!
    thank you
    love

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Upgraded Itunes and now it wont open!

I just upgraded my iTunes to 9.02. Now I cannot open iTunes at all. The icon is there but it will not open. I have a MAC OS X 10.4.10 And in order for this itunes 9 to work I need safari 4, and in order for THAT to work I need a 10.4.11. Ahhh! Is there anyway to download the older version of itunes? I just want my music back!

you can download the Mac OS X 10.4.11 combo update here http://support.apple.com/downloads/#mac%20os%20x%2010.4.11%20combo%20update.
however, if you really want to go back to a previous iTunes version, try this:
    +1) Quit iTunes.+
+2) Delete iTunes from your Applications folder.+
+3) Go to your ~/Music/iTunes folder. Delete or rename the "iTunes Library" file.+
+4) Open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and look for the backup of your old pre-9 library; it should be dated at about the time you first ran iTunes 9. Copy it back out to the ~/Music/iTunes folder, and rename it to "iTunes Library".+
+6) click here to download iTunes 8.2.1. The page says it's for G3, but the Read Me file says it'll run on G4, G5, and Intel too. Open the disk image and run the installer.+
+You should now be able to run iTunes 8.2.1 again.+
+And your iTunes will restore to before you upgraded and you won't lose anything+.
