New iTunes update wont run in the background
When the last update for iTunes came out I was pretty excited to see the new layout. When I was done installing I was really impressed with the new setup. I do however have this one problem. I used to run iTunes in the background when I was playing games or watching subtitled movies where the sound doesnt matter. Now whenever I do this playback from iTunes gets choppy, like when the needle arm on a record player gets constantly bumped. I was just wondering if there was a new update I have missed since this one came out or if I can just rollback my version of iTunes
Almost all people fix this with very simple steps....
1) Goto the PC makers site and update your sound card/driver (May as well install all updates they offer for your model while there)
2) In Windows goto Control panel>Quicktime>Audio tab check "Safemode" hit OK and reboot for the settings to take
3) Also try going to Microsoft.com and updating your DirectX

ITunes refuses to run in the background???
Hello,
I am running Windows 7 and iTunes 10... The problem I am having is that no matter what else I am doing on my computer either iTunes or Windows switches back to iTunes when I have the program running. It doesn't matter if I am typing or just trying to read a website, and it is quite annoying... Any help would be appreciated.
Thanksi have the same problem... i have yet to find a way to duplicate the problem at will, but it manifests itself on a fairly frequent basis.
a have been running laps at around 5-6 hours or so. the problem could occur on the 1st lap or on the 6th lap. all of the a sudden the display goes to all 0s, and if you hit lap or stop, the last lap will be over 66000 hours... which, the last time i checked was like over 7.5 years....
while i may have been an early adopter, i have not had my iphone that long....
a stopwatch should be one of the simplest applications to get right. i find it pretty lame that this bug appears. -
Since doing the new update for itunes a few days ago my phone wont sync. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, ran diagnostics, restarted my pc and restarted my phone and tried different usb ports. Is there another way to fix this or will there been a new update soon?
Me too. And I just noticed a newer post saying the same thing. Actually, my phone will show up as charging from the USB port -- but it will not sync. At all. Not just the itunes -- not calendar... nothing. The wireless sync for email seems to work, but the hard sync and iTunes don't show up at all.
Just wanted to second your question, so that perhaps we can get a reply more quickly. -
Notified there is an update to itunes. Downloaded it, now I have NO itunes on my computer. Went to tools as asked to do so manually. Still nothings. Is it safe to uninstall and then reinstall itunes? And has anyone else experienced this.
Hello janrk,
I would recommend following through the uninstall and reinstall procedure. The following articles provide steps for this, and other troubleshooting that can help get iTunes installed and stabilized.

Why is there so many Itunes related programs running in the background of my computer?
It's bad enough Itunes is a brick on my HD. Why can I not disable them?
What is it that you have? On my machine I see 3: iTunes.exe, iTunesHelper.exe, and AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe.

How to you stop the health app running in the background?
How to you stop the new Health App from running in the background? Its its always running collecting data on how many steps I have taken and how far I have walked.. I walked 12000 steps and travelled 4.1km DRIVING my kids to school this morning according to the app.
I never intend to use the health app because I do not need an app on my phone to help me live a healthy lifestyle. Therefore I find it intrusive there is no way to stop it from tracking my steps or whatever else it may be doing. I found a way to force the app to crash and maybe this will stop it from running in the background. Open the app, tap "Health Data" at the bottom of the screen, tap "Fitness" then "Steps" and tap "Add Data" type in a huge number - a very huge number with 30 or more characters, you can even add more than 1 decimal point. Repeat this for "walking + Running Distance". From this point forward the app will crash when you try to look at the data. Maye this prevents it from recording new data, I'm not sure but I really like the fact the app crashes. Hopefully Apple will add a feature to allow us to turn off data collection altogether or even better, allow us to delete this app.

Trying to install the new itunes update and it keeps saying error could not install itunes. Currently I am running windows 7. Any advise to fix this problem. This is doing this when installing itunes/quicktime, safari 5, mobileme control panel, and the software update itself. The itunes version is 10.3.1
That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -
Now that I downloaded the new iPad update, how do I shut down apps running in the background to preserve battery life?
in iOS 7, double click the Home Button (the round one on the front).
You will see icons for all open apps with a 'screenshot' above each icon. Simply drag any 'screenshot' upwards using 1 finger to close the app.
Most apps don't use much power when inactive but some do including Sat Nav apps -
On this new ios7 update how do I kill apps running in the background now? I used to be able to double tap the home button
Double tap the home button. Slide the preview window upward. You can do 2 at a time.
It's rarely useful or necessary to do this. Very few apps actually "run in the background" (such as audio streaming and navigation apps). The vast majority are frozen and consume no resources. The iOS manages memory for you to optimize running apps.

Why is the new ITune update slowing down my pc.
I recently updated ITunes...It now comes with a helper exe. Why did this change...It has slowed down my pc something terrible... I am running Microsoft Windows 7 64 bit..and never had this problem before...
Seems I need the helper exe to access ITunes now...I do not like updates that decide what runs or doesn't run....Is there a solution to this. I have one apple product it is an IPad mini...If it wasn't for the fact that I have purchased music and apps. It would end up in the garbage...That is how upset I am...
If this is a way for Apple to make me want to buy their products it will not work...
I have absolutely no problem with the ITune store on my IPad...just on on my desktop.Hi theresa62,
The resource below explains the processes that are involved with the iTunes software installed with Windows 7. It's possible to use your iPad mini without the corresponding iTunes software on your Windows computer .... but it would limit what you can do with it. You can't sync your iPad with your computer, use iCloud services, etc. without the software. The choice is totally up to you.

Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync
Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync. Keeps saying I need 26gb of free space which it didn't say before I downloaded the update. It doesn't make sense. It keeps saying:
The iPod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library. (additional 26gb required)
This makes no sense because before the new itunes update there was no problem with me not having enough space. I have 5gb of free space now and I had 5gb of free space before I downloaded the itunes update. Nothing should've changed. And I should not need an extra 26gb of space. How do i fix this problem so I can my ipod normally again.Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
