New Itunes V10.5 & Iphone i OS 5

Hey, just wondering if anyone can help me. I updated to the latest Itunes (10.5) and Iphone OS 5, but not my iTunes freezes whenever I attempt to sync my phone (iPhone 4), it stays on step 2 of 6 and stops responding. and I have too shut it down via Task Manager, I am running it on PC (don't hold it against me), but it should still work as all previous versions have operated fine in the past, the new software on the phone is ok, although I have no use for the Newsstand App and feel that every user should be allowed to delete that app if they have no reason to have it on their phone. I like to sync me phone, as I hate losing messages & call history!!!!
Cheers!!!

What are the specs of your PC? That would help a lot! (And I loathe, and I mean LOATHE Newstand, and pretty much everything about iOS5, lol)

  • How do I shuffle songs in a genre in the new iTunes on an iPhone or iPad?

How do I shuffle songs in a genre in the new iTunes on an iPhone or iPad?

I was at the Apple store today and one of their "geniuses" confirmed it is not possible to shuffle songs in one specific genre. He had not noticed this himself, and after trying to do it on my iPod, he tried it on his iPhone, and that did not work either. He told me the best he could do was tell his boss. This of course, does not help much, but we can always hope they fix the issue sometime soon.

You can... but it is not as straight forward as the External drive method.

iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer

  • Download of music keeps saying error 10000, song corrupted but I already had this song on my iphone.  Accidently took it off when i syncd new itunes onto my iphone and wiped out my iphone music organization etc.

    Hi community,
I recently lost the computer i had my itunes on.  I also recently got an iphone. Everything was perfect and set up but then I had to create a new itunes account on my Dell desktop.  Anyway, when i created the account and connected my iphone i told me something about my iphone only having what was on my itunes on the computer.  I thought that was fine because all of my music is my purchases.  But i turns out that a whole chunk of my music wasn't there and my playlists got screwed up.  Playlists fine but I went to download the music and every single one of 33 songs says, Cannot download file corrupted, error 10000. Is this a problem with my computer?  These files were fine before i connected my iphone to this computer and itunes setup on it.   And I have them on my iphone but can't figure out how to move them from recently added to a playlist for running etc.  Thank you!

so i went ahead and did a restore from the new PC and then a restore from backup.  looks like that fixed everything... a few playlists were messed up and so far as i can tell, maybe just a few minor issues.

  • New itunes wont recognise iphone

recently had a virus on my computer so i wped everything. Re-installed itunes but now my phone wont sync because itunes doesnt even detect that its plugged in. Also will everything on my phone get wiped as the new itunes has nothng on it yet as i cleaned my whole system after it was infected. Please somebody HELP!

Yes, your iphone will be wiped.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back on your computer.
You can try reinstalling itunes on top of the current itunes to address the recognition problem.

For managing audio and video contents of the iPod and iPhone you can find some lighter and faster alternatives to iTunes. • My macbook is too old to use new iTunes with my iPhone, is there a way around this?

I'm not sure which operating system it is but I bought it in September 2006 if that helps...
Do I really need to buy a new computer in order to sync my iPhone?!

    Hi There
To check the version of Mac OS X you're running click on the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen and select About This Mac. The iPhone 4 requires a computer running Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later with iTunes Version 10.1 or later (http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html).
You do not need to purchase a new computer just a new OS if you're running 10.4.x (x is any number). If you're running 10.5.x you just need to run software update to get the latest version of 10.5 and iTunes which the iPhone can be used with.

  • New iTunes Library erases iPhone?

I cabled my iPhone 4 to a different computer (MBP in products below).  I had been using a Windows XP box to manually manage (not sync) music/vids/tones to my phone.  When I connected to the "new" computer, I checked, "Manually manage music and videos", then the "Apply" button, and it said:
"The iPhone is synced w/ another iT Library.  Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iT Library?"
I do not.  What I'd like to do is stop using the Windows XP and start using the iPhone with my Mac.  I don't want to erase all the phone's content ("erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes Library"), I'd like to keep it's current contents, but the Library on the Mac is empty.  What should I do?  Will checking "Manually manage music and videos" and clicking "Apply" preserve the phone's content since I don't have iTunes set to sync anything?  Or will it indeed erase the phone?  I have the exact same scenario with a 3G iPod Touch I'd like to update the software version on.  I have iTunes 10.5.3 (on the Mac) - iPhone 4, 5.0.1

  • New computer new itunes moving apps iphone 4

How do I move my apps from my iphone to my new computer/itunes. When I try to sync apps, itunes wants to force me to overwrite the apps on the iphone as this is the first time I'm syncing on this computer?! Windows 7, iTunes 10.4.1
    Thanks y'all

Copy everything from the old computer to the new one.
Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, it will erase the current content.

Yesterday I downloaded the latest iTunes 11.01.12 on my PC (Windows 7), then sync'ed to my iPhone G4.  Now when I try to access one of my email accts, I get the message: "The mail server "imap.gmail.com" is not responding..."  I have checked the acct info in Mail settings and all seems in order (IMAP Path Prefix is blank, Server Port is 993).  Strangely, my other email acct (also gmail) is working.  I have tried restarting, re-

What is a "G4" iPhone?  No such thing exists.
Regardless, installing iTunes on the computer has no affect on being able to access an email account on an iPhone.

  • My daughter has an ipod and used itunes through her mom's account, we now set up a new itunes for her iphone, we were able to transfer the purchased music to the library but not the songs she had on old cd's, how do I get all the music off her ipod?

My stepdaughter has an ipod and used her mom's itunes account, now we set her up with her own itunes but I can only transfer purchased music to her library. How do I get all of her music off of her ipod? (she doesn't have all the cd's she used)

You may be able to buy a program to do this - not supported by Apple.
the ipod is not a storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchaes.
The music should be on a computer as that is where they came from in the first place.

  • How can I sync my Iphone to a new iTunes account on a new Mac Book as no longer have the old Mac Book and im unable to use the same Apple ID, I want to sync music to my Iphone from my new Mac Book, new Mac Book and iphone in same Apple ID???

Basically, my iphone has been in the same apple ID as my dads iphone and mac book, so my iphone has always been synced to his macbook. I bought myself a mac book the other day and want to sync my iphone to it. However i have obviously put my mac book in a different apple id as i know pay for things i download myself, how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?  ive now put my iphone into my new apple id thinking this might help? ive also tried clicking 'manually manage music and video' but this doesnt seem to work, it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
    HELPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

" how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?"
You cannot.  Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

  • TS4124 I have around 1000 songs manually downloaded from my CD's to iTunes in my iPhone before an operating system change on my computer deleted my iTunes and had to create a new one.  The music won't transfer to my new iTunes!  How do I get it back?

I can't figure out how to get my music back onto a new iTunes from my iPhone.  I had to replace my iTunes after an update to my operating system on my MacBook Pro was reversed (found Mountain Lion to be incompatible with many existing programs and couldn't use it).  I had alraedy manually loaded about a 1,000 songs from my CD's and now no matter what I've tried I can't get them back onto my new iTunes!  How can I fix this without re-loading all of these songs?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • How do you sync an existing iPhone to a new iTunes install?

I had to reformat my MBP to remove Lion and go back to Snow Leopard, but now I have a question with iTunes.
I loaded my whole library of songs and apps into the new install of iTunes, but now I need to sync my iPhone 4 and iTunes is trying to overwrite ALL of my apps and their data. I don't want to loose any apps or data that is on the iPhone. So how can I sync my phone again without having the new iTunes overwrite the iPhone? I need iTunes to copy down what is on the phone FIRST and then sync. Not try to overwrite the iPhone.
    Thanks

    Ok I did all that.
However, when I got back into the iPhone settings, the Apps Tab, "Sync Apps" is still not checked. When I click on it, I get the same warning message that it will erase all apps and data on the iPhone. Is it really going to do that or will it load all my saved data from when I did "Transfer Purchases"?
I think all the apps will load back fine, but I don't want to loose all the data associated with all the apps and games.
    Thanks again!
