New java update and keyboard function

I just updated Java to the latest version in Software Update (version 7 update 25). Now my keyboard does not work in a Java application. †he mouse does but all keystrokes are not inputed. Other than waiting for the next update and hoping that it works better is there any other option?
thanks
Ken

It's been a while since I posted the message but I am running OK now. I forgot if I switched to a browser other than Safari or upgraded Java but it has been working recently.

Does anyone know if I can download this version of Java - for OS X 2012-005 - the new Java update is a total mess for me and is preventing me from working remotely...  :-( really need to go back to older Java, don't have the Time Machine set up ...  Thx

I wonder if it's a variation of this, of which I've seen many different symptoms...

    Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
    Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.  Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

  • I just downloaded the new Java update now Safari is slow and I'm getting the spinning beach ball of death.

Typing in Safari with the new Java update that I downloded today causes the spinning beach ball and slow loading of pages. As usual, Java is causing problems. Just once I would like to see things run without having to depend on Java.

    24Golfer:
I think there's something more, because it keeps happening to me with the Finder where it says that it is not responding when I go to the Force Quit window.
Are you saying that the Finder is reported as not responding? If yes, try this:
    Go to Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.finder.plist
    Drag com.apple.finder.plist to desktop
    Restart computer.
Monitor to see if anything changes, or Finder is still not responding.
    Good luck.

  • New Java Update w/Snow Leopard Firefox leads to broken javascript functionality?

I'm using Snow Leopard with the current Firefox... and after the new java update downloaded from Apple -- just today -- I'm finding that a site that I use regularly no longer works when a link for a java scripted small pop up informational window no longer pops open.
    Clicking the link does nothing.

  • Cs4 wont open on mavericks after installing new Java update

Cs4 (photoshop and illustrator) wont open on mavericks after installing new Java update.
I have tried installing both from the auto prompt (which came up as 'software update') as well as directly downloading from this link: Java for OS X 2014-001
either way when i try to open a cs4 program the icon simply bounces around for a minute then it comes up "program not responding"
    anyone have any ideas?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi Matthew,
First of all, you should be able to check in your HD/Library/Receipts folder to see what has been installed by looking for the .pkg of it.
re: "I installed the security update from software update, and i want to make sure I downloaded something intended for my machine"
You should not be offered updates that are not intended for your System through Software Update. Software Update, as far as I know, reads the .pkg files in your Receipts folder and will offer what you need from that. (I believe that is correct....perhaps someone will correct me if I'm wrong)
Did you Repair Permissions from Disk Utility before and after the update?
If not I would try running Repair Permissions (HD/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/Repair Permissions).
I've found that with Security Updates that it is very important to Repair Permissions before and after updating.

  • There is a new Java update availible, however when i go to software update the download doesnt appear. someone please help!

I know that there is a new java update available because when i go to java's website it tells me to go apple-software update because i have a macbook. however, when i do so it tells me all my software is up to date. Any help is much appreciated.

Java support is changing.  Currently Apple is working on Java 6 for Macs and regularly releasing updates. There is a developer preview available but this is not recommended for regular users as it may contain unexpected bugs. The latest version for regular users is java version "1.6.0_24".
Java 7 is currently under development, in a community effort led and co-ordinated by Oracle. This effort includes Java for Macs.  Once this happens it might be that you'll no longer get Apple Mac Java updates from Apple, but instead you'll get them from the same Java website as Windows and Linux users.  Whatever happens, Java will continue to be supported on Macs well into the future.

Java 6 you can't as Apple maintains it, and Java 7 you could if you uninstall it and Oracle provides the earlier version which they likely won't his last update fixed 37 remote exploits.
Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties.

try the version 11 or 12 they should work perfectly."

  • Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync

Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync. Keeps saying I need 26gb of free space which it didn't say before I downloaded the update. It doesn't make sense. It keeps saying:
The iPod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library. (additional 26gb required)
This makes no sense because before the new itunes update there was no problem with me not having enough space. I have 5gb of free space now and I had 5gb of free space before I downloaded the itunes update. Nothing should've changed. And I should not need an extra 26gb of space. How do i fix this problem so I can my ipod normally again.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.
What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
    and as necessary:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Trying to install the new itunes update and it keeps saying error could not install itunes. Currently I am running windows 7. Any advise to fix this problem.

Trying to install the new itunes update and it keeps saying error could not install itunes. Currently I am running windows 7. Any advise to fix this problem. This is doing this when installing itunes/quicktime, safari 5, mobileme control panel, and the software update itself. The itunes version is 10.3.1

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

"We" don't release anything; we're not Apple, we're just users like you.

  • Downloaded new Foxfire update and now unable to get the tv or movie guide.

downloaded new Firefox update and I am now unable to get any of the sites located under the entertainment banner. Why?

Apple removed blood glucose until further notice. The reason behind this is that it gave a distorted picture in countries where the medical world used other measuring units. I suspect it will be available again in a future update.
