New JDev release anytime soon?

I am in need of Document-Literal webservices and thus, JDev 10.1.3, however this preview version is so buggy that I find myself checking oracle website almost every day for an updated version.
Does anyone know when we can expect it? It is now a good 6 months ago JDev 10.1.3 was released, UIX/ADF support or not, a version that does not crash (currupting system dir etc.) and where CVS works would be so nice.

Sure. My biggest problem, is that about once a work-week, JDeveloper will:
1) Underline first line (package declaration) with red
2) Refuse to save any of my files
3) After restart, project info etc. is gone and layout is reset to the default blue plastic style with various things missing.
I have the problem both on my laptop and workstation, and know of co-workers with the same symptoms. I now have a .zip file with everything from the /system directory (from a clean install) which I will replace the crashed /system with. It works, but I have to set-up settings and load the workspaces manually again.
I belive to have witnessed two explicit exceptions in this regard; one had to do with too many files open and the other (relating to symptom 1 above) is some sort of internal JDev syntax parser error.
I will be happy to take a screendump or try to provide further information next time I experience it. I should mention that I run j2sdk1.4.2_04, JDev 10.1.3base on WindowsXP.
Thanks for quick response!

  • New feature phones anytime soon?

    Are there going to be any new feature phones anytime soon? I haven't seen any that I like, and am just wondering if there will be any new ones in the near future. Most of the ones sold now are absolutely worthless and the rest (theres only 1 or 2 of them) don't really line up with my tastes and I'd be better off keeping my old phone then get a new phone that will fall apart in a few months or getting one I don't want.
    And please don't just give me the link to the feature phones , I'm completely capable of looking there myself and also please don't tell me to sign up for updates, as I'd rather be told by an actual person than being sent a generic email that doesn't really give me the information I'm asking for.
    I'm just curious if anybody has any information about new feature phones coming out this summer. I'd like a phone with at least some of the capabilities of a smartphone, or at least a phone that looks nice and works well, but I'm unable to have a data plan since all my money is going towards a college bill and my parents are in control of my phone bill.

    Appearently new phones running MP Brew are in the works but I don't suspect they will be out until late this year.  This question has been posted more than a few times and Verizon is unwilling to give an answer.  The fact that no one is previewing a phone should also be telling as to when the new phones will ship.

  • New version anytime soon?

    HI folks.  Just wondering if anyone has heard of a new version of this coming out anytime soon. Thanks.

    You can bump the post as often as you want, you would not get an answer. THe fact is:
    People who know won't tell and people who tell won't (actually) know. Simple as that.
    Hope that helps

  • Libgpod and gtkpod update, anytime soon?

    New versions were released during June. Can we expect update in the arch repo anytime soon? There are few quite neat features available in the new version of gtkpod.
    Cheers!

    phrakture is listed as the maintainer for gtkpod. He has been taking a break from Arch for about a month now, though he has been active in the dev mail list of late.
    My experience has been it is best to catch a dev through the mail list or IRC. Many of the devs do not read (post) the forums. I would suggest emailing another dev & asking if they would be able to make the update for phrakture. I am sure phrakture asked the other dev's if they would update his packages for him while he is gone. A nicely worded email and I am sure the dev will update or talk another dev into making the needed updates.

  • Is G6 coming out anytime soon?

    When did the G5 come out? Is the G6 coming out anytime soon or would it still be a good idea to buy a G5 now?

    I looked at the Leopard preview and Time Machine
    looks amazing and sounds like a great idea! That will
    be such a burden lifted, to have an automatic backup
    occur.
    Ya, Time Machine is going to be a Big feature, you should see the demo of it in action in the WWDC 2006 Keynote, about 30 min in. go apple - quicktime tab - apple events on the bottom right
    I currently have an iMac running 10.3.9 with a
    1.25GHz processor (?) and 1GB DDR SDRAM and 80GB
    harddrive of which over half is filled up with, among
    other things, large photo files.
    OK the one with the round base, keep it, as a backup, its still good, but I would keep the HD less than 75% full.
    I wish I could add
    more RAM but my computer doesn't allow for any more
    additions - 1BG is unfortunately the max. Kind of
    unbelievable to think now, especially since I'm using
    such RAM hungry programs.
    Well its better than 512 MB!! I still use a PB G4 1.33 17".
    BTW: Safari is a real CPU/memory hog especially if you have multiple tabs open, so I close it if i am not using it.
    Maybe I should store all of
    my files on an external harddrive always hooked up in
    order to keep my main computer harddrive freed up?
    But then what's the point of having a computer if you
    have to store everything on a separate harddrive?
    see above.
    I want to get a Mac Pro with the new Intel chip (wave
    of the future and faster) with tons of RAM - I really
    think I'll save an hour a day of seconds, minutes
    wasted waiting for stuff, or not being able to multi
    task well.
    Excellent choice, a real performance boost over the G4. I would start with 2 or 4 GB RAM (you can always add more memory later) and the "middle" graphics card the X1900 XT, why? because more and more OS X and the (Pro) Apps are utilizing the GPU as well as the CPUs. Core Image does this a lot, especially for converting/working with RAW image files, in iPhoto, Aperture. Really don't get stuck with a substandard card ( The NVIDIA GeForce 7300 ), even if you are not using any pro Apps (yet). You can visit the Aperture forum here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=184
    or this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2612541&#2612541
    Unfortunately when Aperture came out a year ago many bought the G5 Quad with the stock 6600 video card (rather than the 7800 or Quatro 4500 which were BTO - built to order ) which ended up being dog slow, and there was NO aftermarket upgrade cards. This caused a lot of consternation as people did not realize how much the video card was used by core image.
    Why will there be a "speed bump" with new
    intel machines; is it because they'll reach a broader
    audience and Apple wants to release more frequently
    to capitalize on that?
    Well my guess is that intel releases chips more frequently than Apple/IBM/Freescale did with the Power PC.
    Also there is rumours of an 8 core Mac Pro in the works, see:
    http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2176
    and
    http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2236
    Note that Adobe Apps and Microsoft Office run in "Rosetta" on intel Macs which is a PPC translator, they run fine but a little slower. Adobe plans to release CS3 this spring that is Universal (which means it will run natively on intel macs.

  • I like the new rapid release, but I don't like how it's done.

    Hello Firefox users.
    I have a suggestion for your rapid release program. Ever since Firefox 2, I have been a loyal fan. Each update had a meaning and a purpose.
    Ever since Firefox 5, each update makes slight improvements to technologies that aren't even used by the majority of the web. I'm not criticizing the updates you give, but instead how they are delivered.
    Since Firefox 5, every 6~ weeks, a new firefox is released with a new version number. They offer little new.
    My suggestion is to stop increasing the main version number.
    When you go to your Firefox version, it says Firefox 7.0.1. At the this rate, the second digit of the firefox version will likely NEVER be used. How can they give a decent update in less than 6 weeks? That wont happen, they will include it in the next release.
    Instead I propose a slightly revised plan. Instead of increasing the main version number, increase the second version number.
    For example;
    Firefox 8 is coming out very soon, instead of releasing it as Firefox 8, instead release it as 7.1. Firefox 9 can be released as 7.2. Firefox 10 can be released as 7.3, and etc.
    Based on the old plan (before rapid release) a MAJOR update would be released very rarely. Example:
    Firefox 2.0 released October 24th, 2006
    Firefox 3.0 released June 17, 2008
    That's about '''1 3/4 years later'''! In that same time span, Firefox will have increased 15 version numbers! That means '''we will be at version 22 in 1 3/4 years'''!
    I am in no way suggesting reverting. The new rapid release helps get new technologies out there.
    Here is my plan:
    * Firefox 7.1 (8) Week #6
    * Firefox 7.2 (9) Week #12
    * Firefox 7.3 (10) Week #18
    * Firefox 7.4 (11) Week #24
    * Firefox 7.5 (12) Week #30
    * Firefox 7.6 (13) Week #36
    * Firefox 7.7 (14) Week #42
    * Firefox 7.8 (15) Week #48
    * '''Firefox 8.0 (16) Week #54'''
    The six week plan with incremental updates will give us Version 8 on Week 54, almost one year after Version 7. This will allow for technologies to be released without undermining the huge progress that was made from version Firefox 1.0 - 4.0.
    This will stop the large amount of complaints that Firefox has been receiving.
    The rapid release that Chrome uses works well because they started with it, and they are used to it.
    I hope Firefox will consider this plan instead of the old one. I cannot see any flaws in it, but if you can, '''please''' point them out, as I would like to either rebuttal them, or agree with them.

    They do, just may not seem to be as obvious or as big as the the Firefox 4.0 release was in abundance of features.

  • With the new ipad coming out soon, why should I buy the ipad 2?

    with the new ipad coming out soon, why should I buy the ipad 2?

    I can only echo what Pogo says about buying based on what it does today.
    3 weeks ago I bought a Mac Mini. A new Mac Mini model has been rumoured to come out anywhere between the same week I made my purchase and the end of August. None's been released as yet.
    I wanted one in the week of June that I bought mine so I bought it based on the fact that it did what I wanted and I couldn't imagine anything which could be added that I'd want - my MacBook Pro doesn't have Thunderbolt so the most likely addition isn't really going to be much use for me.
    Basically you have to buy what you what based on what's out at the the time.
    I can promise that within seconds of the iPad3 being released, the web will be full of rumours about the next one!

  • UncommittedDataWarning in Jdev Release 1 Patch Set 1 (11.1.1.2.0)

    Folks,
    Does anyone know whether ER 8909566 has been implemented in Jdev Release 1 Patch Set 1 (11.1.1.2.0) that was released last week? I tried looking at the updated patterns page for 11.1.1.2.0 at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/patterns/index111102.html but this page does not list the unsaved warning pattern mentioned under 11.1.1.1.0 at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/patterns/11.1.1.1.0/UnsavedDataWarning.html

  • ADFUtils + JSFUtils ... how come they're not in the base JDev release?

    Hi JDev gang
    A question came up from a client the other day, is how come ADFUtils and JSFUtils that appear in many of the Oracle JDev demos aren't included in the base JDev release? They seem like such obvious things to include in a base ADF Faces/RC project and for Oracle to expand upon, yet we currently have to "steal" the code for our own projects and include them.
    What are others' thoughts on this? Do you find these 2 classes indispensable for ADF Faces/RC development?
    Cheers,
    CM.

    Ah, the ugly can of Java annotation worms. Sure you want to open it? ;)
    Personally I'd love to see annotations introduced to masively reduce the complexity of Java JSF beans, and also the Java ADF BC side.
    One of the bits I see students really struggle with when teaching JDev is the unnecessary exposed Java methods in the ADF BC classes, such as the EntityImpl getAttrInvokeAccessor, setAttrInvokeAccessor, createPrimaryKey. Beginner non Java students really can only think about objects like POJOs, they struggle when they see lots of framework code added. As such hiding the detail using annotations should in theory make this eaiser.
    Regards the backing beans and injecting the binding container, iterator etc. I note between JDev 10.1.3 when it first came out, we were injecting bindings via the faces-config.xml file. This worked badly because new users struggled with getting the config file entries exactly to match the backing bean properties and accessor names.
    Then ADFUtils + JSFUtils came along which meant no injection was required, but now people are struggling with what to cast the result to (using something like JSFUtils.resolveExpression). As they don't inherently know the binding classes, what to cast to becomes a problem. The IDE doesn't help with this at all either.
    As such with the annotation approach, this would be better as the annotation would take care of returning the correct binding classes. This would take us to the next level. Also as the IDE would inherently know which binding class, then users would be better off in understanding the binding layer classes and which methods to call thanks to the code completion facilities. Of course it means someway of associating a backing bean with a particular page such that the BB knows which binding container to get, which iterators to include etc, and if the binding names are changed in the page def, the BB would automatically change its names (I figure you'd have to do this for beginners, otherwise they'd get confused).
    However, I think there is still a need for ADFUtils and JSFUtils even with annotations because there will be times where you want to do something that isn't provided by the annotations.
    Cheers,
    CM.

    Hi Parker,
    Some friendly advice.. if you're just after points, or if you actually ask for them, perhaps you're looking at the purpose of these boards incorrectly. The boards are here to help fellow users of Apple products. The points are a nice reward, but they are optional. Mellow out and accept that you won't get points for every answer.
    In this specific case, your first response was quite accurate and helpful, but the rest, in my opinion, were incorrect and based on insufficient knowledge of the subject. Additionally, in speculating about future Apple hardware releases, you may have actually breached the terms and conditions of use for these boards.
    Just something to keep an eye on.
