NEW KEYBOARD - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Everyone seems to be missing my posts in the other keyboard forums so here is the info I discrovered yesterday about the super new keyboard and the problems with it:
I *CAN CONFIRM THIS NEW KEYBOARD IS ONLY FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH 2007 MODELS OF THE iMAC AT LEAST (not sure about other Macs)*
I spoke with Apple Support yesterday after receiving my 2nd keyboard which still couldn't power my iPod Nano via the keyboard USB ports and non working F3, F4.
After much discussion with his supervisor, he told me (and apologised) in the fact that with my iMac being a 2006 model, the USB 2.0 ports will not work.
You HAVE to have a 2007 model.
I then told them this was false advertising on their part as no where on the website description for this product does it say you have to have a specific model.
I then spoke to customer services as I bought the keyboard online. They are looking into it and say they will refund me £20 if this statement from Apple Support is correct.
Really disappointed with Apple on this one. I see the website info has not changed as yet but I'm hoping it will soon before more customers like myself expect a fully functional keyboard that isn't!

All of the USB ports on the 2006 iMac are 2.0 (though the ones on the 2006 keyboard are 1.1). The new keyboard with its USB 2.0 ports is SUPPOSED to accept USB 2.0 devices. Yet unless you are connected to a 2007 iMac, the 2007 keyboard rejects any USB device other than the mouse as needing more power than the keyboard can provide. Even even a tiny keychain flash drive, which draws almost no power, won't work.
This is not like Apple to be so sloppy with a product launch. Hopefully when they fix the problem with the function keys in the next Keyboard Update, they will also fix the USB 2.0 problem. Unless the new iMacs simply send more power to the keyboard than the old ones ... in which case, we're probably screwed.
A disappointment to those who bought the new KB in part because of its advertised capability as a powered USB 2.0 hub. But I would like this KB even without that feature, so I'm not feeling totally ripped off. Just partially.

Mac Pro stuck on gray screen after installing software for a new keyboard

I am having a huge issue with my very important work computer! For a few weeks, my Mac has been freezing on the gray screen during start up. Since I had two external hard drives plugged in, I would unplug one of them and the Mac would always restart correctly once one was unplugged. Well today I was installing software for a new keyboard and the mac prompted me to restart. Once I restarted, the gray screen came up again and no matter what I did it would not start up correctly again. I tried unplugging everything except the keyboard and monitor and nothing works. I tried ejecting the crash-causing CD with the keyboard using all of the commands I found on this forum board and nothing worked. I saw forums about manually ejecting the CD by pushing a pin-hole but I cannot find that pinhole anywhere! Then again, the CD might not even be the problem but since the computer gave me the gray screen of death right after using the CD I am thinking that it is the problem. I use this computer for editing a TV show and creating websites so there is a ton of files on it and I need to get it up and running again ASAP. Any suggestions would be appreciated and I am sure by now you can tell that I am not a Mac expert so please dumb it down for me. Thank you!!

I would start by breaking your thoughts and sentences out from one long paragraph.
Start at the basics.
Always have backups.
One at least that is a spare boot system you can use.
Clone your system. SuperDuper does a great job for only $29
Boot from another hard drive or last OS X DVD
Repair your drive with Apple Disk Utility along with 3rd party disk maintenance and repair
Hold Option key until the boot manager, then hold mouse to open optical drive.
You can hold mouse on startup and it will eject also.
Hold and continue to hold Shift key during startup to repair the boot drive in minimal fashion.
What device and driver? hint: never use CD, just go online as the CD is usually out of date anyway.
Fill in Mac OS X version and more about hardware would help in posts and in your profile signature.

Need help remapping new keyboard

I got a new keyboard for my Mac but some of the keys don't seem to be working as I need them. The keyboard is made to function with both OSX and iOS, so it has some F buttons that will work for both, such as volume, brightness, etc. However, some of the regular keys have been replaced to work with iOS, the most important ones being the ESC key and the Eject key. The keys won't work as what I need them to and I can't seem to find a program that will let me just remap them to those keys. What can I do to map those keys properly?

Have you already tried using the options in the Keyboard pane of the system preferences to accomplish this goal?

You can adjust the key repeat and make other changes to keyboard keys, choose text options, modify keyboard shortcuts, and choose a different input source (such as Greek or Chinese).

I have some very important information on the phone I can't lose, How can I retrieve that information if the phone was not backed up to icloud of my mac? I will go to court over this to prove it is my phone. I just can't lose this information. Please, Please, Please, help me. I will mail the phone in to apple store if that will help.

You can't. If your phone is disabled, the data has already been erased...that's the whole point of the passcode. Your only option now is:
Turn your phone off, then force it into recovery mode & restore it:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

Touchpad vanishes after installing new keyboard

I'm trying to figure out what I could have done to cause this problem.
A couple of keys fell off of my keyboard, and a few others were sticking, so I called Lenovo support and they sent me a new one (it came in about two days!) which I promptly installed. The new keyboard works great! However, now my touchpad doesn't work. It is as if it doesn't exist - I looked in the Mouse program (from the Control Panel), and the Touchpad is not even showing up in it. I tried reinstalling the UltraNav drivers, but sadly, it did not work. Luckily the trackpoint works just fine, so I'm not completely ruined.
At any rate, the really strange thing is that my fingerprint reader still works just fine. I mean, it tends to be a little tempermental (that or my fingerprints change on a daily basis), but it's always been like that.
I tried opening it back up and unplugging the touchpad/fingerprint scanner part and then plugging it back in, and also took a look at it to see if anything had clearly fallen off, but it seems just fine. I didn't drop it or do anything else to it when I took out the wrist-rest/touchpad to install the new keyboard.
Any thoughts?

I bought this laptop around August 2007
I'm hoping I can fix this myself without having to order new parts, although that hope is rapidly fading. Thank God Lenovo's support is so easy to deal with, especially with ESC - I used to have a Dell and it was nightmarish dealing with their tech support.

Reinstall the old keyboard. If it works you likely purchased a dud. If you have problems with it, too, let us know.

Apple (and no one else) can not assist (with serial number or iCloud) in finding a lost or stolen iPad.
Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.

Installing new keyboard actions to the JList

Hi I want to install replace the arrow keys and use the numpad keys to go next and previous item in JList also I dont want to show to Popup bar in gui but in the the following code it is not working for the when I install KeyboardActions to the List

Help! Need a new keyboard for my mid-2010 MBP

Someone spelt some beer on the keyboard, tried to clean with no luck, need new keyboard assy. Everything else works OK!

How can I recover important information from a broken phone?

I have an iphone that is damaged and it contains very important information. It is no longer connected to iCloud as I have a new iPhone. How can I get the information off of the old device? It still holds a charge but the screen won't activate (not busted).
I believe if there was some type of device that I could connect it to (sort of like a laptop with add in external monitor), I can retrieve. I've already purchased software that will pull it onto a PC in PDF format.

To fix this people you need to update your original software first apple icon top left then software update (As
shown. If you have already formatted your hardrive when attempting to install from boot drive (USB), you will need to shutdown and restart your mac holding the "Command + R" key together, this requires internet access to re download and install your orginal software because you have wiped it. After it has installed you will then be able to install MAVERICKS! by following the steps you have mentioned.

Function keys no longer working with a new keyboard...

I got a new keyboard and my function keys no longer work with it. I am used to have them used in the standard format, i.e. F10-F12 control the voume, etc. I have the "Use all f1,f2, etc." button clicked. I have also tried restarting my computer. Any thoughts?

Try doing a SMC reset and PRAM reset.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

New keyboard shortcut didn't work; neither did resetting default

I wanted to create a new keyboard shortcut for sending mail, so I used the system prefs pane like the help file said (new application shortcut, select mail, etc). After creating my new shortcut (^X), it initially didn't appear in the Message menu for Mail. I quit Mail and restarted, and voila - but hitting ^X didn't send my message. That's annoying.
So I figured I'd set the shortcut back, and hit the Restore Default button in the keyboard shortcuts preferences. The listing for the shortcut I created disappeared from the menu, but even after quitting Mail several times, and restarting the machine, Menu - Send still lists ^X as its shortcut. Which would be fine with me, but it still doesn't send my message when I hit ^X.
My shortcut doesn't work, and resetting the defaults doesn't seem to be resetting what Mail thinks the shortcut is. Any thoughts? I'm on OSX 10.4.7, Mail is 2.1.

I used the wiki to compile it with ABS. It failed because I forgot to set it to be able to read EXT partitions, which it is located on.

Setting a new keyboard shortcut

I am trying to set a new keyboard shortcut. I named my New Set, chosen the Product Area, chosen the Command and tabbed to the New Shortcut window. When I try to type in the New shortcut, I can only get 1 letter typed in and then that shortcut pops up(if I try to type Ctrl, as soon as I type C I get a message C copy). Any ideas?

Function assigned was swash
Product Area:Panel Menu
Commands:Character: Open type (swash)
Shortcut is Shift+Ctrl+Alt+M
as I follow in the lesson, using the type tool, the N is highlighted and then the keyboard shortcut is used and the N then has some added curlyques at the beginnig and at the end of the letter.
When I try, it deletes the N and gives the green sign (looks like the symbol for non-joiner with a period beneath it). Not sure why I would get this symbol when I try to insert a swash.
