New keyboard needed

havin problems finding a new keyboard for a hdx x18.its the backlit keyboard,a uk version....can seem to find them in usa but not uk.has anyone seen these or a link to them.......any help would be really usefull..............................thanks

Update: I received my Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 today. I'm typing on it now!
It's solar. It's wireless. It'll work with a desktop or laptop Mac. There's an app you can download to monitor the keyboard's solar charging functionality.
To install the keyboard, plug the supplied dongle into your laptop, or plug the dongle into the supplied extender and plug that assembly into your desktop Mac's USB port. Follow the prompts and you're done.
Configuring the F-Keys to match the functionality of the Mac OS 10.5 keyboard was a little tricky despite following the downloaded manual but in the end it works! The volume up/down/mute keys work as do the screen brightness keys and the DVD Play/Pause, Forward, and Back keys.
The trick is to open System Preferences and select Expose & Spaces, and enable the F-Keys corresponding to the icons on the keyboard. You may also have to go to System Preferences-Other and select the Logitech Control Center app (download it if necessary). Select your new keyboard, press Configure, and UNCHECK the box.
The end result is, I've found a keyboard that will work with my iMac and OS 10.5, including the function keys. If you don't like going the eBay or Amazon route for a used OS 10.5 compatible keyboard, the Logitech is the ticket. I also understand that Snow Leopard used the same keyboard so if you're running that OS and your keyboard tanks, the Logitech K750 is a viable solution.

  • I had to get a new keyboard and now the keys in the upper row are not working appropriately. How can I fix this problem?

My keyboard stopped working so I went to the apple store to replace it with another one. Now I am back home and the keys at the very top are not working correctly (volumn  F12 shows the dashboard, F11 takes the screen up and away, F8 pause button shows spaces, etc.). What should I do to correct this problem - I assume I probably need to download some type of softwear but what? I have a Mac OS X  Version 10.5.8 desktop - 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

All new keyboards need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and above for full functionality.
Rather short-sighted of Apple perhaps, but that seems to be a trend these days.
I'm afraid the only fix is to upgrade to SL. Personaly, I'd take it back and get a refund and seek an older keyboard or a third-party one elsewhere.

  • Old imac needs a new keyboard!

I have the old imac-- PowerPC G4 running on Mac Os X version 10.4.11.
I need a new keyboard, but don't necessarily want to upgrade the software to 10.5.... any suggestions? Or do I need to upgrade? Also, what would I need to get to upgrade? This is where things get very confusing to me! This desktop is my secondary Mac, but would still like to use it without putting a lot of money into it!!
    Thanks!!

You can use any keyboard but not the latest Apple aluminum ones.  If you want one of thoseyou need to upgrade to 10.5. Leopard, but you would need to buy a retail disc to do it.

  • Do I need a new Keyboard?

I recently removed my keys from my keyboard to clean and now after I put the keys back on the keys are hard when typing. As in getting stuck and not as smooth when pushing.
I am hoping I just put the keys back on wrong...

    Hello DamianC
I am sorry to hear you are having issue with your keyboard. I would suggest you try to remove the keys again and put them back. The odds are though that you are going to need a new keyboard and as the issue you are describing appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contacted HP technical support for repair options or if you are out of warranty to order a new keyboard.

  • Need help remapping new keyboard

I got a new keyboard for my Mac but some of the keys don't seem to be working as I need them.  The keyboard is made to function with both OSX and iOS, so it has some F buttons that will work for both, such as volume, brightness, etc. However, some of the regular keys have been replaced to work with iOS, the most important ones being the ESC key and the Eject key. The keys won't work as what I need them to and I can't seem to find a program that will let me just remap them to those keys. What can I do to map those keys properly?

    Hey rios741416,
Have you already tried using the options in the Keyboard pane of the system preferences to accomplish this goal?
OS X Mavericks: Change keyboard, mouse, and trackpad settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14317
To change settings for your keyboard, use the Keyboard pane of System Preferences.
You can adjust the key repeat and make other changes to keyboard keys, choose text options, modify keyboard shortcuts, and choose a different input source (such as Greek or Chinese).
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

    Hi
As far as I know the compatible keyboard has a part number: A000048040
But you can use any standard A4+10key flat half glossy black keyboard.
You can also contact (call) the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country to get (order) a new keyboard for this X500 Qosmio series.
The guys would be able to order such keyboard directly from Toshiba.

  • We need new keyboard layout in Korea.

    Hi~
We need new keyboard layout in Korea.
The Google offers new keyboard layout for the Korean language.
It is called 'single vowel keyboard'
It has 4 less keys. So one key size can be wider than that of qwerty keyboard.
It is much easier to type and creates much less mistyping.
I hope apple would offer the same keyboard layout.
    Sincerely,

Here is the image file of new keyboard layout.
    I hope it will help.

  • Equium A110-240 need new keyboard replacement

    Hey.
As the title says I have an Equium A110-240 laptop with a broken keyboard. A few weeks ago about 1/3 of the keys stopped working at the same time. The error is probably in the hardware and I've reinstalled the keyboard drivers and updated BIOS just in case.
The laptop is a few years old and its warranty has expired so no help there.
I've tried checking the individual keys and removing the keyboard to check for a bad connection. No luck.
The rest of the laptop is in working condition and suits my needs just fine so I'm not exactly keen on buying a new one just yet, at least not before trying to fix the keyboard.
What I think I need is a new keyboard, but I can't find this exact keyboard on google.
There's quite a few Toshiba keyboards on ebay but none for my laptop.
I'm guessing other toshiba keyboards would work fine, provided they have the same connector cable, but would they physically fit?

Hi, You should be able to get a suitable keyboard. Check the following website and see if the part number matches your existing one.

  • Re: Sat Pro A10 and Sat A10 - the difference - need new keyboard

    Hey all!
New ID as i'm rubbish at remembering passwords/log on emails....
I've got a Satellite Pro A10 that needs a new keyboard - there's loads floating around on ebay for the Satellite A10 - but not the Pro - now i'm almost 100% it'll be the same keyboard - right? the 'Pro' bit just usually denounces extras bits and qhizzy things - but basically they're the same hardware platform underneath - i.e. the same keyboard between the Sat A10 and Sat Pro A10
    Anyone?
:D thanks in advance for letting me sleep at night!

I agree with you. There is no much difference and the notebook construction is the same.
I am 100% sure the keyboard is the same.

  • Function keys no longer working with a new keyboard...

I got a new keyboard and my function keys no longer work with it.  I am used to have them used in the standard format, i.e. F10-F12 control the voume, etc.  I have the "Use all f1,f2, etc." button clicked.  I have also tried restarting my computer.  Any thoughts?

Try doing a SMC reset and PRAM reset.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Mac Pro stuck on gray screen after installing software for a new keyboard

I am having a huge issue with my very important work computer! For a few weeks, my Mac has been freezing on the gray screen during start up. Since I had two external hard drives plugged in, I would unplug one of them and the Mac would always restart correctly once one was unplugged. Well today I was installing software for a new keyboard and the mac prompted me to restart. Once I restarted, the gray screen came up again and no matter what I did it would not start up correctly again. I tried unplugging everything except the keyboard and monitor and nothing works. I tried ejecting the crash-causing CD with the keyboard using all of the commands I found on this forum board and nothing worked. I saw forums about manually ejecting the CD by pushing a pin-hole but I cannot find that pinhole anywhere! Then again, the CD might not even be the problem but since the computer gave me the gray screen of death right after using the CD I am thinking that it is the problem. I use this computer for editing a TV show and creating websites so there is a ton of files on it and I need to get it up and running again ASAP. Any suggestions would be appreciated and I am sure by now you can tell that I am not a Mac expert so please dumb it down for me. Thank you!!

I would start by breaking your thoughts and sentences out from one long paragraph.
    Start at the basics.
    Always have backups.
One at least that is a spare boot system you can use.
Clone your system. SuperDuper does a great job for only $29
Boot from another hard drive or last OS X DVD
Repair your drive with Apple Disk Utility along with 3rd party disk maintenance and repair
Hold Option key until the boot manager, then hold mouse to open optical drive.
You can hold mouse on startup and it will eject also.
Hold and continue to hold Shift key during startup to repair the boot drive in minimal fashion.
What device and driver? hint: never use CD, just go online as the CD is usually out of date anyway.
Fill in Mac OS X version and more about hardware would help in posts and in your profile signature.

  • New keyboard, t410

Hi. I had a SMALL coffee spill on the T410 a week ago. Mouse button-behavior has been a litle unpredictable ever since, both on the keyboard itself (all four touchpad buttons are a little off, with the right-click buttons being the most inconsistent). Plugging in a USB mouse is better, but that still is not perfect. Weirdly, clicking on some things (links in Chrome browser, for instance) usually works, while clicking on other things (Chrome browser tabs, for instance) often does not work. Very unpredictable, though.
I'm going to try replacing the keyboard to see if that might fix the problem.  Two questions: (1) Do you think that might fix the problem?  (2) How on earth can I order a new keyboard from Lenovo--all the multiple help/ordering/parts/replacement pages and stuff on the website are oddly unclear on where/who I can simply call to order this replacement part. Any help there would be appreciated.
    THANKS

    dutchg,
the keyboard and touchpad is separated thus if you were to change, I would advice to check the TouchPad first.
You mentioned that the 4 buttons on the touchpad are off? I don't remember having 4 buttons on the touchpad. There are only 3 physical buttons right?
If you want to replace the touchpad, contact support and they would advice you on how to do so.

I have a Y2P (i5) ... Feel free to ping me if you want me to test some applications with your Y2P if you have the same model. I don't mind keep doing recovery on it if needed .... =)

  • New Keyboard + Last Gen iMac Help Please

    Hello,
I'm using the most recent generation (right before the release of the aluminum ones) iMac Core 2 Duo 2.16 20" and I have a very minor problem:
I ordered the new wired keyboard - the brushed aluminum one... wow it's awesome - super thin, nice keystrokes, beautiful sleek design.
I plugged it in, did the software update, reset my system - all as expected.
So now, my F1-2 keys work great for the display dimming, keys F7-9 work fine for the media, and F10-12 work perfectly for volume control.
The 2 things that did not carry over perfectly were the Expose functions of F3 and F4.
F3 and F4 were not re-programed with the update to include "all windows" for F3 and Dashboard for F4
Anyone else have this problem, or any other thoughts other then trying to reinstall the keyboard software update?
I can assign things using Expose in settings, but if I assign to F3&F4 I have to press the Fn key and F3 or F4 to get them to work.
    Thanks for the help

Just a followup to other comments. I have always liked the MacBook Pro keys so I purchased the new keyboard to go with my G5 Mac Pro.
I concur. All special Fn Keys work normally with the Fn Key Option (in Keyboard Prefs) turned off -- Except F3 and F4 (Expose and Dashboard).
These 2 Keys work kind of the reverse of what is expected. If Expose and Dashboard are assigned to F3 and F4 in the Dashboard/Expose Prefs the F3 & F4 Keys will work if the Fn key is also pressed (kind of stupid)
However Expose and Dashboard can be assigned to other Fn Keys (F13, F14) and they will work normally (no Fn Key required)
I think the keyboards (mine and others) are fine. This seems to be a software issue. Apple rushed the software update out and it needs some tweaking. Lets hope it wont be to long

  • Usability of the new Keyboard?

I was reading an article (a persons opinion) and in it he mentioned that touch typists would have difficulty with Apple's new keyboard as fingers wander from the home row due to a lack of a point on the f and j keys to keep them there. He also mentioned that if you just rest your hands on the keyboard characters are easily entered by accident. And finally he wasn't keen on the keyboard as you couldn't tilt it. To me the keyboard looks very sharp but I was wondering what people thought who have it and are using it. Is it problematic. I'm thinking of getting an iMac but the keyboard is critical to me in terms of the amount I use it so I wouldn't want it to be any less than as functional as the current Mac keyboard.

Thanks. I was in the Apple store yesterday and the sales rep thought I should keep what I have as he said the Cinema Display is better than the iMac display. He thought that were I to upgrade I should change it out to a Mac Pro but this seems overkill for my needs. Also, the current Mac Pro, I think, hs been around for a while so I would suspect Apple might do something with that next. But it still seems like overkill.
When I looked at the iMacs, the one thing that I didn't like right away was this strong reflection on the screen. The cinema display doesn't have that at all. I helped setup a friends Toshiba a while back and it too had a strong reflection and I didn't like it. I guess its a glass overlay and it makes the colours more vivid but that reflection would drive me nuts.
I also can't say that I found these machines any faster than my current machine. Maybe they are but with the apps loading that I often use it seemed the same.
So maybe with this all said I should wait another year and see what the landscape looks like then. I like my Macbook Pro but it just seems that when you never use it as a portable you might as well have a desktop. But I guess if I ever really did need to run in portable mode sometime in the future I have that option.
