New keys for my keyboard

I need a new F3 key for my keyboard to my Pavilion DV7-3090EO. Does enyone know were I can find one?

I think there was an update required to use this keyboard due to the presence of the fn key. Have you run  menu > Software Update recently?

I need a new key for my keyboard - help please

Hi there. I've had my PowerBook G4 12" for just over a year. I love it and I want some help with the keyboard. I took off the top arrow key on the bottom right corner of the laptop. I did this because it felt like whenever I hit the key it wouldn't feel like all the other ones. It wasn't smooth and such. So I was trying to clean it I suppose. Now the key is off and that rubber thing that was under it is gone. Can I get this fixed? Thanks.

By the "rubber thing that was under it" do you mean the white plastic spring (known as the "scissors mechanism")? If so, you can purchase them individually here to fit yourself:

You can also get replacement key caps, if you're missing that too.
Just make sure you're getting the right ones for the 12" PowerBook you have (it sounds like you have what they call a "late model", which is what I've linked to above, but email them if you're unsure before you order).

Impact of generating a new key for Secure Store Application

I inherited my development environment from a predecessor, who did not document the secure store pass phrase anywhere. There are a couple of projects doing development on the system that cannot be impacted, but I need to get Project Server running on the
system, and I cannot get the secure store to accept the credentials I set for the target application. I have recreated the target application several times, but nothing works.

Once you decide to generate a new encryption key, you could follow the steps in Generate an encryption Key part in the link below:

You should back up the database of the Secure Store Service application before generating a new key. Then refresh the encryption key to propagate the key to all the application servers in the farm.

Purchasing a new key for quicktime

do i need to purchase a new key when i download a newer version of quicktime? or can i still use the one i already purchased ? any insight woud be great. thanks

If you are downloading and installing an update you can still use the same key. If it is an upgrade you can't.
example: You have QT 7.1.5 Pro. You update to QT 7.1.6 and you still have Pro.
example: you have QT 6.x.x Pro, and you upgrade to 7.1.x - you need a new key.

Where can I buy replacement keys for my keyboard??

Two of my keys are broken on my laptop (stupid cat broke them off, long story short), and I want to replace them. This seems like a pretty idiotproof task, but for some reason Apple wants me to bring everything into one of their stores.
This is kindof a hassle at the moment, and I'm a little annoyed that they won't just let me buy the d@rn things - does anyone know of a place online where I can just order the two keys, get them sent to me, and take care of this in the privacy of my own home??

Brightness keys for the keyboard wont work???

The two buttons on my mac that change the brightness of the keyboard F5 and F6 don't work. When i press it, it has a circle with a line in it. how can i solve this problem?!

You need to know more about yours. There are several manufacturers and the keyboards all look the same "from the outside", but each is different in the way they are put together. There used to be several places on eBay with pictures and examples, but I couldn't find any. There are more choices than there used to be and it is difficult if you have not done it. I have done hundreds and do it all the time, but I guess people had too many problems.

Easy, no need to be harsh. I might not be a Level 9  Discussions user, but I’ve been an Apple Technician for more than a decade now. So believe me, I know what I’m talking about. Be it OS X Server or emptying the Trash. But even I come here from time to time to learn from others. Well, back to topic and being a little more specific:
The 'My Info' setting always belongs to the first iCloud account you add to an iOS device. In this account you create at least 1 contact, the one you will be using for 'My Info'. You then do the same on your other iOS device using NOT the same iCloud account, of course. You only need to enable contacts syncing in iCloud preferences for these primary accounts. From here on you can use differing 'My Info' on your 2 iOS devices without a problem.
But you may know that you can use more than one iCloud account at a time. Only the primary one will offer all iCloud options like Photostream. But what they all offer is contacts, calendars, etc. So if you intend (and I did) to share these 2 between your devices you can add them using a second iCloud account to both of your iOS devices. This makes it 3 accounts all in all. You could even go further and add another one just for 'Find my iPhone' if you like.
I would’ve used the built-in sharing of Calendar.app instead, but Contacts.app does not (yet) offer sharing contacts with others. That’s why I went with the third iCloud account as a secondary account to both iOS devices.
Apple of course recommends using just one Apple ID for everything to make it easier. But in some scenarios this just won’t cut it, which is even described in one of their support documents.
I hope that now you have an idea what I’ve done…

Remapping F9- f12 keys on Aluminum Keyboard for Final Cut Pro 6

I'm working through the Apple Pro Training book, "FCP 6: Professional Editing in Final Cut Studio 2", and one of the first things the book recommends is to remap the F9 thru F12 keys for FCP functions. However, I have the new Apple thin aluminum extended keyboard, and those keys are labeled as volume controls, and there doesn't seem to be any way to change them in System Preferences (on previous Apple keyboards, these would be mapped for Dashboard and Exposé). How can I go about this?

In System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > Keyboard, activate the checkbox for "Use all F1, F2, etc keys as standard function keys".
In System Preferences > Exposé & Spaces > Exposé, deactivate Exposé by selecting - (minus) for All Windows, Application Windows and Show Desktop. If you still want to use F keys for Exposé, move them to be in the F13 - F19 range instead. Those keys are not used by FCP. Do the same for Dashboard.
You can use the functions as marked on the buttons by pressing the fn key.

Non numeric keyboard - I need the shortcut keys for Google Earth

I need the shortcut keys for Google Earth - like Page Up, Page Down etc, but the new Apple wireless keyboard hasn't got the numeric keypad.
Are there alternative shortcut keys for Page Up/Down? Or can I programme any of the Function keys to do that instead?

Holy crap, this fixes the issue. At least temporarily it has. I should add that my issue was single finger forward/back swipe stopped working on the magic mouse in Firefox since Mavericks came along. I have been fighting this since I upgraded to Mavericks a few months ago. Thank you, tbirdvet. You have no idea how much easier you just made using my iMac again.
