New Laptop and a bit stuck

Hi
I have an ipod touch.  I recently purchased a new laptop. On my old laptop were lots of cds that I'd uploaded into iTunes and were sync'd into my ipod touch.
I've just tried to transfer 2 new cd albums onto my ipod however I can't seem to work out how to do it.
The format all seems different.  Previously I just placed in the CD and the album was loaded into iTunes.  I would then sync to my ipod and the albums would show on my ipod touch.  With this version, I can see all my songs when I click 'on this ipod' however it's not clear hopw I can transfer the new albums over without deleting all my current files.Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Please note that I am not very technically minded and do not use these type of functions regularly.
I do not subscribe to anything that costs extra.  I have also switched on home sharing - not sure if this helps.
Thank you

You can only sync all media from the one syncing iTunes library/computer you can have. You have switched syncing computers/libraries. You can however sync music and videos from any computer/iTunes library if you use the manual method. See:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod

  • Tried to downoad an App on my new laptop and its just stuck being 'pending'. anybhelp would be great

the title kinda says it all.

    Hello Slarty,
So the laptop is brand new but you get a "pending" error when installing or updating any App in Windows Store?
There are a several fixes on the web. Here are a couple of them.
    1.  Press the Windows key + R key to get the RUN dialog box.
Type wsreset.exe and hit the Enter key.
This should clear out the Windows Store cache files and stop the "pending" error.
    If this does not work...
    2.  Force the update service to create a new SoftwareDistribution folder
Open an administrative command prompt (go to the Start screen, type "cmd", right-click on Command Prompt and hit "Run as administrator")
Type the following four commands in the command prompt, hit the Enter key after each line is typed in. 4 lines total :
    net stop wuauserv
    cd %systemroot%
    ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    net start wuauserv
Restart the computer and try again.  Let me know how you do.

  • My old laptop crashed, and took my iTunes account with it.  I got a new laptop, and want to sync my iTouch to my new iTunes account.  It gives me an error message stating that I can't sync to multiple iTunes accounts, but I can't access my old one!  Help!

My old laptop crashed, and took my iTunes account with it.  I got a new laptop, and want to sync my iTouch to iTunes.  It gives me an error message stating that I can't sync to multiple iTunes accounts, but I can't access my old one!
How can I get my new iTunes account to allow me to Sync my iTouch?  The only option it gives me is to "transfer purchases" from my iTouch to iTunes, but that is only about 25% of my iTunes library-most of it is CDs I have uploaded.  How can I Sync without losing all my music from my iTouch???
Also, I have lectures and photos, etc. on my iTouch that I don't want to lose.
I've tried a few of the iPod copy programs-the free ones and the ones you have to pay for, but I can't find one that will work for ALL my content on an iTouch.
Right now, I can't get anything from my iTouch to iTunes, and I can't update my iTouch with my new iTunes purchases, so I'm stuck!  Help!

Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer.  I can't figure out why it won't let me do that.
The only thing I can see when I open my iTouch on my computer is my file with photos.  I can't see videos, music, or anything else.  What's going on?

  • New Laptop need 64 bit version but originally bought the 32 bit version.

I just got a new laptop, a 64 bit version of Windows 7.  However, my download of Lightroom was the 32 bit version.  Does anyone know if I can I get the 64 bit version and use it on my new computer without having to pay more?
Thanks for any advice I can get.

Just download it from the Lightroom website (the demo version is the full version) and select the right version. Just enter your serial number and you will be good to go.

  • New Laptop and External HD - Best Way to Set Up

I've purchased a new laptop and larger external hard drive. Wondering the best way to move my photos.
I believe I understand that exporting my current LR cataloge and then copying that onto my new lappie and importing to the new installation of 1.4.1 is the best way to move the LRCat. However, I'm a bit fuzzier about moving the actual image files (RAW and edits) from one HD to the other and having LRCat recognize them. We're talking about over 100GB of images, so not a small amount. I'm a wildlife/underwater photog, and have the folders organized by general location folder first, then individual shoots in that location in separate folders under that.
    Should I:
    a) Keep the images on the current, smaller HD until I've imported the LRCat and then move the images to the new, larger HD from within LR?, or;
    b) Move the image files from one external HD to another, import the LRCat and then have LR locate the files?, or;
    c) Some other method which will best optimize the files?
    Thank you!

I do like the folder structure as-is. It makes sense to me, as my shoots are all based on discreet events (I usually have to travel to them), so sorting by location makes it easy for me to place what's where and when. However, since I have this opportunity, I'm open to a change if it would help LR work better.
But I'm not sure what you mean by "Just see to it that you can see the top folder (or the few top folders) in your present LR. After moving the catalog to your laptop just point LR to the top folder in its new location and LR will find the rest." Are you saying I should move the files, then locate them with my current LR, then do the cataloge export/import to the new laptop? Any reason I shouldn't just move them, do the export/import on the new laptop? Not understanding the reason for the middle step of having them recognized on the old computer first.

  • I have purchased actual ring tones, not songs or MP3s, RING TONES.  They used to be on my Iphone but when I got a new laptop and downloaded new ITunes, they are showing up in Itunes in RINGTONES, but will not transfer to my iphone. They are checked. Help?

I have purchased actual ringtones from the ITunes store.  They were working fine on my Iphone 3 before, but I got a new laptop and the new version of ITunes, and now even though they are listed as ring tones on my ITunes, they will not transfer to my Iphone.  (Please do not tell me they are songs and not ring tones, they are definitely RING TONES!)  Can anyone help me with this?  Thanks.

Use the Transfer Purchases command in the File menu of iTunes.

Hi!  I just bought a new laptop and have downloaded itunes and signed in.  When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs.  How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  Also, will itunes still recognize my ipod on my new computer when I plug it in?  I have a Dell with Windows 7 and an ipod nano, I think.  Why can't I just plug my ipod in and "sync" it?  Will that move my CD music into my library on itunes?  Thanks for any help!  Soooo confusing!!!

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library.  However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.

I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.

I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts.  Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins?  Really concerned about losing any music, etc.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

I have an ipod touch 5th generation 64g . Just bought a new laptop and authorised it to use itunes library. When i try and sync my ipod it says it can't do it because there isn't enough space on my ipod to hold everything in the itunes library. I already know that i can't fit everything on my ipod but when using my old laptop i was able to choose what i wanted to sync. Now i don't seem to have the option of choosing what i can sync, it just refuses to do it as there isn't enough space. Why is this???

I just got a brand new laptop and I can't seem to put music onto my iPhone - help? I'd really rather not completely empty my iPhone in order to have it agree with this new laptop. How do I get them to talk to one another and let me put my music on my iPhone?

The iPhone will only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
