New Laptop - itunes will not work

I had itunes installed on my old laptop and it worked fine with my ipod touch ( 2.2.1). Now I have a new laptop, have installed itunes and every time i connect my ipod touch i get the message saying "itune has stopped working - windows is searching for a solution". The solution never comes. Do I have to uninstall itunes from the old laptop or deactivate that account or something in order to use my itunes account ( and all that is contained within it) on this new laptop? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

It all depends on exactly how you moved the library from your old computer.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
