New Laptop & NEW itunes

I got a MacBook Pro and want to sync my songs from my Ipod touch to my Mac. I had a PC with Itunes and my PC broke, so I had to get a new laptop. I'm afraid the songs on my Ipod touch will delete once I plug it into the MacBook pro. How can I keep all my songs or transfer it?

What do you mean "not working"?  That could mean multiple different things.

I also cannot get my iphone 5 to be recognized on the new itunes.

iTunes as you see it in the application window uses a series of files and folders contained in the iTunes folder.  Some people make the mistake of only backing up their media in which case all you have is a bunch of media files without the iTunes structure.  In that case you have to build a new library yourself.
What exactly do you mean "not recognized"?  The phone does not show up on the computer at all, or it does but it says it will wipe the phone?  The wipe the phone stuff is again because it cannot find the original library to which it was synced.  You need to transfer the entire iTunes folder from the old computer or the backup you made of it.

  • I recently bought a new laptop, installed iTunes and imported my library during a sync with my iPhone. Now I've noticed that any tracks that were ripped into my library from a CD won't play on my iPhone. They're visible but with a red circle next to them.

    Hi, BartleyBauer.
If the media that you are attempting to sync plays in iTunes, try removing the preference to sync music as this remove the media from the device.  Once this is done, try syncing the media again.

  • I have a 4th or 5th generation iPod nano (I don't know which) but I want to transfer all of my music into my new laptop's iTunes library but I can't lose any of it because I don't have a back up. How do I do this?

I have an iPod nano and a new laptop. I just got my first Apple id and I really want to transfer all of my iPod music into my library. I don't have any back up and can't lose some of this music because it was a gift from an ex-boyfriend and I don't want to lose the great music. Please help me! Thank you!!

You can deauthorise all 5 at once, then reauthorize the one you want.

You need to log into iTunes on the computer you want to deauthorise. Otherwise, contact contact iTunes Store support to see if they can help.

  • My iPod won't sync with iTunes on my new laptop!  ITunes registers my iPod, but when I tell it to sync, the sync signal in the top (spooling) window flashes up for a millisecond, and then no more.  Any ideas gratefully received!

Hi All, Really hope some of you techies may have suggestions for this as it's driving me nuts.  I actually have a new PC and a new laptop, and the same thing happens with both machines.  With my PC, the first time I plugged my iPod in, I was asked whether I wanted to wipe everything on my iPod, and reload as per the library on my new machine.  As I use my iPod in my zumba and dance classes, I was very weary of doing this before I had checked to ensure all my music was in my library, so at that point I replied 'No'.  Since then, i~Tunes registers my iPod, but will not sync to the library (and playlists) on my i
Tunes.  It seems bonkers to have to go as far as uninstalling, then reinstalling, iTunes.  Is there really no other way to get round this?
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

thought that it was possible to have the same iTunes library on any machine that was authorised, a kind of cloud-iTunes I guess.
That would convenient, but sadly it is not the case. Sorry!
Either way your welcome and best of luck!

  • How can I sync my iPad with a new laptop (same itunes account) and not lose all my app data, i.e. games data stored on the ipad, not the app itself?

I want to sync my iPad with a new laptop, so I can get rid of the old computer.  I have already downloaded all the itunes content on the new laptop, but when i go to sync, it tells me that itunes will erase and copy all the apps from the new library.  The 2 computers are on the same account, so is there a way to copy the apps (including app data) onto the new laptop, instead of vice versa?

  • How do i restory my entire itunes library from the hard drive of a new laptop to itunes?

I recently got a new laptop and would like to transfer my itunes from the old to the new. I backed up the itunes library to an external hard drive, and have transferred it to the hard drive of the new laptop (I haven't deleted the library from the old laptop). I am operating on windows. I am now stuck and can't seem to restore my entire itunes library to itunes. The items purchased from the itunes store are in the library on the new laptop, but the rest of my music is not. How do I restore it to my itunes library? I have tried opening itunes while holding down shift and selecting "choose library" option, but when I select the itunes folder, it doesn't appear in the library.
    help?!

    Hello ggjsa,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  I understand that you have copied your old iTunes Library to your new computer, but you are still not seeing the music.  I recommend reviewing Part 5 in the section titled "External drive" in the following article:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
If you are still having trouble transferring the library using this method, you may want to try using the Home Sharing method in the article.

  • How to update a new laptop with iTunes from iPad 2?

I have recently bought a new laptop and when I've opened iTunes on it, hardly any of my music etc is on it. How do I sync all my devices?
I have seen the iTunes match but do not want to purchase that. Is there a way for all my devices to be synced and to automatically update after each new purchase?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello 2012Nano
For any purchases that are made through the iTunes Store, you can setup Automatic downloads for most purchases to be downloaded to either your computer or iOS device. Check out the article below for more information on how to set that up.

  • New laptop, new itunes rewrites all material on ipod????

mt wifes ipod. she had her cousin set it up months ago since we had windows 98 on our desktop which is not supported by itunes. I got a new laptop with XP on it so i figured I'd load some more stuff on her ipod.... it is going to wipe out the old stuff????? Any way to prevent this?
How long should it take for 12 or so cds worth of stuff to transfer to the ipod?

    You can do this...
    Using iPod With Multiple Computers
You could also transfer all the songs from the iPod to the new computer so you have everything on the computer and can transfer normally...

  • I can't seem to locate the Store menu in order to 'Authorize' my new laptop for iTunes.

I need to Authorize my new laptop (Windows 8). I can't seem to locate the Store menu in which it's indicated I should find the Authorize function. Can anyone point direct me to it?
    Thanks!

    Hello dlmpsu85,
The menu bar can be temporarirly shown by pressing and releasing the 'Alt' key on your keyboard. You can also have the menu bar shown permanently, the process for which is detailed in the following article.
