New laptop = problems with itunes/ipod nano 3g

I bought a new computer and am having some issues with my ipod/itunes. In itunes, all songs that weren't downloaded from the itunes store have an exclamation point next to them and I get a message saying the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. I did copy my personal music from my old computer via flash drive and the itunes preferences are set properly to search in the location in which they are saved. How can I get itunes to locate the file itself without doing it manually? Also, I cannot get my iPod to sync with my new computer iTunes - I did authorize my new computer. It shows my ipod on itunes, but will not sync my new music and playlists. How can I fix that as well?

Personally I am very happy with my new iPod Nano. It works great with Nike Plus and I love the video and some of the cool features like stopwatch and more. I have an earlier iPod Nano and I was hesitant to buy the new one but I am so glad I did. I don't have any problems uploading data.

I would think, Twins1995, that if we are having the problem, others are as well. Hopefully, Apple will shortly issue a follow-up software release to fix the problem. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part.
It would be helpful, if there were some kind of work-around in the interim, so we can use our devices. Pretty frustrating when you consider that all of the hardware and software is produced by Apple.

  • Problem with my ipod nano

    Hi,
I recently bought a 1GB nano. I installed the software and all that bit. I was able to buy music and store it into the itunes library. My problem is, is that the music in the library does not go into the ipod. The ipod is fully charged but there is no music in it. Can someone please help me! I would appreciate it.

well, thats the thing...it won't even recognize that it is plugged in, so i can't restore the ipod...tried resetting, reinstalling, restarting, and retrying...it is brand new, so i don't think it is an issue with the ipod...i think it is something to do with either windows or the way my computer is configured...

  • Big problem with my Ipod Nano

Hello. I recently bought a new Ipod Nano 3G 8gb in America and brought it home with me to Sweden.
At first it worked perfectly, as all the products I have bought from apple have. However, after updating the software(firmware?) of the ipod it started malfunctioning. I could no longer transfer songs to my new Ipod and thought that a reset would be just what it needed. After letting Itunes reset the ipod i get a message telling me that there is an Ipod in "Restoration Mode" and that it needs to be reset before usage. So I use the Itunes reset function again, and i get the same message. After repeating this a couple of times, the ipod just boots to the Apple logo (Silver apple on a black background) and suddenly i cant do anything except resetting it, I cant put it in disk mode, neither Windows nor Itunes recognize the ipod, and I am getting pretty frustrated.
I do not think that buying the Ipod in the states has anything to do with the issue, since friends have done the same before. I need your help, if i can't fix it, will it cost me anything to get it checked in a swedish apple store? All help is greatly appreciated.

the apple warranty is worldwide to there is no problem or charge of having it checked in the sweden apple store, aslong as you've tried everything to get it back to life, i would advise you taking it to the apple store for one of their guys to have a look at it!
    hope this helps!

  • Still problems with the Ipod Nano 3g and the Nike+ kit??

I thinking about buying an Ipod Nano and the Nike+ kit tomorrow but now I'm a bit unsure due to some of the problems mentioned here in this forum? Do you still have problems with the commuication between the Nano and the sensor? Are there still problems wtih the distance being wrong or only in km? Should I buy - if possible - a Ipod Nano 2G?
    Regards
    Morten

  • Problems with my ipod nano

I have a MacBookPro OS X --- I found an ipod nano 8gb, but when I connect it to my mac, immediately goes not to do.

Ella - Try Restoring the iPod with the updater. After restoring it, make sure the album art work is properly displayed in iTunes. If it is, re-load your iPod with your music. Give it a shot.............

  • New computer problems with itunes library

I really hope someone can help me. I have purchased a new laptop as my old one died and when i have plugged in my iphone and none of my music is available in the library - I understand that all the files are stored on my old computer but is there anyway i can get my existing music into the new library that has been created?
    Hopefully that will make sense.
    Thanks

iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod or iPhone to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.
A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod or iPhone as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Problems with Itunes/Ipod touch

I'm having trouble syncing my iPod touch with iTunes. Whenever I go to sync, my iTunes freezes at "Backing up: step 1 of 5". I've tried restoring my iPod 2-3 times now, and now my apps are starting to close while I'm in them. What do I need to do? I've uninstalled itunes and re-installed itunes, and I've been trying to figure this out for 2 months now, with nothing happening. Can anyone help?

when i clicked Sync Music it gave me some kind of warning message saying it would replace something or make changes to my ipod,
i cant figure out why it wont let me pick and choose.
will the greyed out box become available after clicking sync music (It didn't for me for some reason)
    I keep seeing this

  • Problems with my Ipod Nano 4g, Please somebody help me :-(

I decided to buy my first ipod yesterday and I put all my songs on it and so on... But many songs don't work, I want to play them and the sign changes to that play sign but the song stands still. I can play forward in the song but it's still not playing. And after a few seconds it skips the song and plays the next one.
What can I do? I saw many people with this problem on the internet, but no resolutions... I tried everything I was told to try:
    - The songs work fine on itunes.
    - I did reset my ipod a few times.
    - I tried to delete the songs from itunes and put them in again, didn't work either...
    What else can I do?
    Please help me

I have the exact same problem. I returned my nano to apple about 2 weeks ago and they weren't able to duplicate it. I got the same nano back in the mail today, loaded up the songs that refused to play, and nothing was fixed.
This is my 6th apple product and 4th that I currently use and sync with my library. The songs I play on my other apple products (4g classic, iphone 3g, 2g nano) work perfectly. When I put them on my 4g they don't. If I convert the file, and then turn it back to .mp3 format it works...but with a library of nearly 700 gigs of music it seems like a hassle I or other apple customers shouldn't have to deal with.
I just got off the phone with a customer service rep, and he said the problem isn't with the nano, it's with the file. We got into a pretty good argument back and forth, but at the end of the day when file x works on every other product but this specific one, I'd say the problem lies with this one.
I keep crossing my fingers for a firmware update that will fix this, but as it stands I'm stuck deciding on whether or not I just want to give up on the 4g or convert my library to another format and then re-convert it back.

  • Big problem with my ipod nano gen 4!  ):

Hello everybody, firstly I'm new here so please forgive me for asking some noob questions
    Here's my frustating issue :
I've done the 5 R's and still My nano doesn't seem to do anything a.k.a DEAD.
Whenever I plug it in to itunes or a battery source, nothing happens EXCEPT
a beep beep high pitched-sound. So i'm wonder anybody has gone through this and can
    give me a solution?
    Thanks all!

it's ok to ask this question. i'm guessing from what you've said in your post that your ipod could have been damaged. have you dropped it, or done something that could have caused this? if you've tried to hold center and menu button reset, and it is still not working, contact apple through phone or store and show them the problem. if it's covered by warranty, and you havn't done anything to cause this problem, they should swap it andn give you another one. if not, then you might have to pay for repairs.
