New laser printer- background color on brochures is liney-not same as on ink-jet

Hi,
So all of our company's brochures are in Pagemaker 7.0, and they printed out fine when we were using our inkjet printer. The problem is that we just got a Laser printer (xerox phaser 7400) and now the background (which is a solid grey on one, and a gray gradient on another) isn't printing out right. There's some yellow in one, and the other is liney...an IT guy said it may be an outdated profile, but I don't know what to do to fix it...Any suggestions?
Thanks

What Jay says.
The other issues are PCL v PS printing modes and RGB v CMYK colour spaces, both of which affect PM's printed output.
Moving to InDesign will resolve these isues.

  • How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.

    How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.
    As an example, html widget has white background on iPad, and black on mac. The same goes for interactive widget.
    The MathType text inserted is inserted as a image, and will have the same color when in fullscreen as when not. So I need the textcolor to be the same in both views. Anyone know how to fix this?

    We're still not communicating. This is why I wanted an example .iba.
    Here's a re-creation of my own, going off what you described. You said "all html widgets and all gallery widgets" have this problem. So I inserted a blank HTML widget and a blank Gallery widget, and typed into both. Inserted a MathType equation into both. I don't see any difference when I preview it on my Mac compared to the preview on the iPad. I want to help, but I can't help if I can't duplicate the issue.
    I've attached the screen shots and the .iba file [link to .iba file].
    Feel free to email me directly at bobm at dessci dot com. If you're uncomfortable giving some information here, tell me anything you want in email. I work for the "MathType company", Design Science.

  • Firefox 5 not printing background (colors and images) despit it's selection in Page Setup. Previous version worked fine.

    I upgraded to FireFox 5, but it is not printing background (images and colors) for certain pages which previously printed fine with my earlier version. Print Preview DOES shows the background images, but when sent to printer or PDF, background images do not appear in the printed output.

    I wish it were that but a long time ago when I had a problem with the gadgets with iGoogle back 6 months ago thereabouts I was asked to disable it then and I did and I just went to re-check and it is still not enabled, however, it will not let me un-install it though.. It only gives me an option to enable or disable.. Any advice ? So I'm wondering if it is something else still or is there a problem with the avast still ?
    thanks again for your help. Mind you that this all started when blogger went down ..
    take care

  • Printing background color - NOT

    I have someone who insists on sending me meeting minutes as email with a background color for the email. I'd like to turn off the background for printing, but can't figure how to do this.
    If I ask the printer to print B&W I get a grey background. In any case I'm wasting a lot of ink for no added value. (color or black)
    In Sys 9 I used to be able to ask the printer to just do B&W and no grey scale and would get this.
    Any thoughts?
    I'm using sys 10.3.9 and an Epson stylus color 740 with the default drivers from OS 10.
    Thanks,
    Ken

    It sounds like they're sending you HTML email. Before you print it, you'll have to change the format to plain text in your email program. You can easily do this in Mail Preferences.

  • Is it okay to COVER the new laser printer when it's not in use?

    Just bought a Color Laser Jet Pro MFP model M177 laser printer which has to be located in a place that has a lot of dust and pet hair.  I keep it turned off anytime I'm not using it. I want to cover it with a plastic printer cover that would go over the entire printer. Is there any reason NOT go keep it covered when not using it?
    Thanks.

    Hi there mercbluz!: considering that hostile enviroment you would be in the "fools hall of fame" if you didn't
    you & that printer would be behoove by having longer life & productivity not to mention less stress from dealing with the cat hair & dust
    hope this enlightens, clarifies & helps you

  • I can't print background colors

    I have tested every combination of checks in the colors section of options in tools. There are puzzles I like to print out. Without background color they are not useful. I have to go to Internet Explorer for this purpose where this is no problem.

    Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth? Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen?  What program are you using for email?

  • Print background color.

    Dear all,
    I am running Safari 4.0.2 in Vista and may I ask if anybody knows if there is setting in Safari that I can print a web page with background color??
    Thanks very much.

    Press the 'Print Screen' button. Then, open Paint and paste it on the white area. Save the image, and then print it.
    I believe you're on a laptop? If so, the Print Screen button might be on another button. My laptop has the keyboard organised this way. I personally have to hold the 'Fn' button and then press 'Insert'.

  • Change grey background color of acrobat reader application (not background color of page)

    My new laptop has a very reflective screen. Especially dark background colors make me see the windows behind me (and people passing by). When using a white (lighter) background this problem does not occur.
    When reading all day texts with acrobat reader, there is alot of "distraction" because outside the page there is a dark grey area with reflections and moving images. Maximizing the text to 400% so everything is white is not a comfortable option.
    Is it possible to change this background somehow, preferrably to white, or light grey? If there is not a standard option, would it be possible to change some settings in the windows registry?

    Unfortunately no, it's not possible. However, you can simply resize the window so that the underlying desktop color is visible...

  • How to change the Video Background Color - The Answer...Not the Question.

    Hello All,
    I was struggling with the Video Background Color as I was setting up my DVD. I'm new to DVD Studio Pro. I couldn't get the color to change from grey to the desired black. I was moments from asking for help, but thought to try just a bit harder. The answer lies under Preferences, Menu, Video Background Color. Just thought I'd share for future search strings by others.
    Ahh, onward!

    The id is applied by (I think) the skin class of the ChoiceBox. You don't need to define it.
    You have to apply the css in an external style sheet. You can apply the external style sheet to any parent of your choice box, or to the scene (the most usual way to do it).
    Example:
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.List;
    import javafx.application.Application;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.control.ChoiceBox;
    import javafx.scene.layout.VBox;
    import javafx.stage.Stage;
    public class ChoiceBoxTest extends Application {
      @Override
      public void start(Stage primaryStage) throws Exception {
        primaryStage.setTitle("Example 2");
        final ChoiceBox<String> choiceBox = new ChoiceBox<>();
        List<String> tempResult = new ArrayList<String>();
        for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
          tempResult.add("Item " + i);
        choiceBox.getItems().setAll(tempResult);
        VBox root = new VBox();
        root.getChildren().add(choiceBox);
        final Scene scene = new Scene(root, 300, 250);
        scene.getStylesheets().add("choiceBox.css");
        primaryStage.setScene(scene);
        primaryStage.show();
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        launch(args);
    choiceBox.css:
    @CHARSET "UTF-8";
    #choice-box-menu-item:focused  {
    -fx-background-color: yellow ;
    #choice-box-menu-item .label {
    -fx-text-fill: black ;

  • Background-color:transparent !important; is not working in IE

    Hi,
    In my sharepoint site i have used "background-color:transparent !important;" css. It is not working in IE but in Mozilla is working fine.
    And I am using IE 11. Please let me know is there any thing wrong in the syntax. If that is the case please provide me correct solution for that.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Saya

    Thank you for your reply.
    I have checked given links. Those are not use for this issue.
    Actually in my sharepoint site the same code "background-color:transparent
    !important;" was working fine before installing sharepoint 2010 service pack 2. After installation we got this issue. And if i change "transparent"
    with any color, it is applying that color. Only "transparent"
    background css is not working in IE.

  • My new laser printer will not print certain photos on Pages templates.

    I just purchased a new printer and it will print out my documents, fliers created in Pages and print some photos but others are left blank.  What to do?

    It would really help if you told us what you have done to try to make it work? Also some information on which printer you have , printer driver, etc.. Has it worked before you got this printer?.... ?...?

  • Background color when image proportions are not 4:3

    in order to avoid keynote messing with the image proportions when i import a photo, i go to inspector, slide, appearance, background - image fill, and choose to grab an image. This way if it's 3:2 or 16:9 it won't get mangled. the problem is that even though my theme is "black" and "blank", it places the image with white borders. any way to fix this?
    the only way i've found so far is if i drag and drop the image into the slide, but then the proportions are totally mangled and it takes 2 minutes to get the image properly fitted into the slide

    I guess the way im describing makes it seem impossible. i'll try again. for off-sized pictures, i want the entire image on the slide. If i import it as "background image fill" then the whole image appears on the screen, proportions unchanged, uncropped. Yes, there are blank (white) spaces around the image, but i don't mind those at all. I just want them to be black. The ONLY issue with importing like that (besides that it is slow, which isn't a problem i care about solving if it looks right) is that it generates white space around the image.
    There is no easy tool to change that white to black? (again - the theme is black and blank, all slides, already)
    The black issue is solved if i drag the image into the slide, but then i have to spend way too long jostling the image into position, pulling the corners out, in, etc.
    Here's the thing - i dont even mind if the proportions get whacked a little bit - they inevitable do anyway when i start pulling the corners around: all i want is the entire image to be on the slide, and for the parts of the slide that aren't images to be black.
    thank you for your help! i feel insane!

  • My screen background color is off-white & this color comes through on the print page. Page Setup/Print Background is set off. How do I fix this? Problem first popped up with version 6, still there with version 8.0.1

    File/Page Setup/Format & Options/Options/Print Background (colors & images): Check box set off.
    This setting does not work as my screen background color still comes through on the print preview & the print page.
    Is this because the newer Firefox versions have blocked my graphics driver version?

    See [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683139 Bug 683139] – Using the 'High Contrast Black' 'Accessibility Option' in Win XP results in the screen colours being printed.

  • Problems integrating new Wireless Brother HL2280DW laser printer into my FIOS network.

    I bought a brand new HL2280DW WIreless Laser Printer on Black Friday and I can not seem to integrate into my network.  It keeps spitting out errors saying to check with my SSID settings and I have checked, doublechecked, and re-checked and I just do not seem to get it.  I am hesitant to switching to a different type of encryption because not all my network nodes support other encryption types.    Any Advice would GREATLY be appreciated.

    Your problem could be an IP Address conflict. The printer probablyh wants a fixed IP address so you can always refer to it the same way. But your router is probably set to give dynamic addresses to everything. What most people do is set aside a small address range for fixed address devices, and use the rest for dynamic addresses.
    The way to do this is to set the router to start its DHCP range at something like 192.168.1.10. Doing his means IP addresses 192-168-1.2 - 192.168.1.9 are availalble for fixed assignment.  (Router is always 192.168.1.1.) All dynamic addresses will start with 192.168.1.10 and go up from there, for as many devices as you have attached wirelessly or via cables.  In this scenario you woudl assign your printer an address like 192.168.1.5 and it will always retain this address.

  • Need a WiFi laser printer recommendation for Lion and iOS

    I'm looking to get a new printer.
    Here are my needs...
    Home printing, maybe 10-20 pages per week
    Scanner built in
    Laser (I'm tired of being bled dry with HP's $30 ink jet cartridges that last only a month or two). Color is not important
    WiFi and reliable, at that...my current WiFI printer goes to sleep and doesn't wake up unless you go to the printer and press a button
    Budget $100-$200
    While I don't regularly need to print from iDevices, if it did it would be nice, this is not a top priority.
    I've done online searching and as soon as I see an attractive model, the ratings say "doesn't work with Lion"
    Thanks!

    I was in the same boat some months ago, and went with Brother MFC 9120CN. Its a bit over budget but fantastic, just works. They have a BW version as well which should fit your budget. (Never try Samsung had to send 5! back to factory..)
    Hope that helps
