New LCD case/cover for MacBook White?

Hello!
We have a tiny problem- the top cover of our new macbook got some scratches and we are wondering whether it is possible to only change the plastic cover, or is it necessary to change the whole LCD screen?
BR, Simon

Hi sikander,
Welcome to apple forum.
It is possible (in my opinion) to just change the plastic cover.
But to make sure that is do able, try to call local apple store or authorize service center.
But if it is a minor scratch, I'd suggest to let it be because it is not common to change that and the cost might be a bit expensive.
Good Luck.

  • Want to buy a case/cover for my macbook

i have a refurbished macbook, bought in november 2009 (from the online apple store) that i want to buy a case/cover for. The problem is everywhere i look, the cases are designed for the aluminum or macbook pro, and one seller on ebay that has the same cases available from the apple store, states that it doesn't fit the black or white versions, only aluminum and pro. Does anyone know who/where might make/sell cases for this version? Seems odd that even the apple site doesn't have them.
thanks in advance for any help!

  • Cover for MacBook Pro

    Hi everybody!
I wonder to know, could there be any issues in using of smart cover for Macbooks.
There are many manufacturers that produce such accessories and I decided to protect my MacBook from outrageous behavior from my kids )))).
The question is: Can it harm the Mac with overheating or something? or I can sleep easily and don't even worry about it ?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!
For example - the leather one:

    and rubber one:

I doubt that it can harm, because even Apple Store sell items like that.

  • LCD Back Cover for MSI GT780DXR

    Hi people
First of all hi everyone in this forum
I just recently broke the LCD back cover from my MSI GT780DXR in the area of the right hinge. The "structures" for the screws are broken from the cover, and after trying to glue it back I desist and I'm searching for a new cover
I've been surfing the internet trying to find the cover for my model (apparently the msi 1761 "structure") and the only place I have found the actual cover is in rkcomputers. Is really expensive (125$!!) but the problem is that they apparently don't send products to Europe (I live in Denmark).
    Anyone here can help my?

Ask MSI for a spare part: >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • Best Thin Case/Bag for MacBook Air 13"

Just purchased (and eagerly anticipating the arrival of) a 13" Air. Now I need to decide on a new case/bag for my Air as my previous bag for my ancient 17" laptop would be a bit superfluous... The most difficult thing about picking one out is being unable to try them out in person other than the standard ones that stores carry which aren't exactly tailored to the Air's uniquely thin profile. Basically what I'm looking for is a case or bag that will safely and securely hold my new Air, as well as a decent amount of extras (i.e. power adapter, superdrive, g-tech slim external hard drive, usb wireless internet modem, a small CAC Smart Card reader,) but still remain as thin as possible and be decently aesthetically pleasing.
So, does anyone have any recommendations based on personal experience? Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.
To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, below are two links to cases that look like they might possibly do the trick:
    Kenneth Cole Top Zip Sleeve
    WaterField Designs Macbook Air Wallet
    MacCase Jacket

Well, looks like I found my solution(s)
I'm going to get the following bag:
    Targus 13.3" Radius Messenger Bag
And possibly couple it with the following hard sleeve:
Waterfield Design MacBook Air Smart Case
The Targus bag looks extremely well designed (saw it in person today) and very purpose built, as well as pretty high quality construction. It got extremely good reviews from fellow Apple users, so I'll pull the trigger on that tomorrow and give an update. I figure I'll couple it with the Waterfield Smart Case for those times when I can't/don't want to lug the entire messenger bag around (plus, it's pretty **** stylish )

  • Protective cover for macbook

is it worthwhile to buy one of those transparent anti-stain/scratch stick-on plastic cover for protection of the exterior of the macbook? pls recommend any brand/model that is value for money. thanks.

It's worth to use the palmrest protection. You can search on ebay and will find many items for this.As I know the Macskin is value for money.

  • New Corsair ram issues - 2008 Macbook (white) 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Just after having a successful (though after some help from the forum) install of 8GB into my mid 2009 MBP I helped my brother install a 4GB (2x2GB) memory upgrade from OEM 2GB (2x1GB) into his 2008 macbook (white) 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo system. Checked and made sure I got the right memory speed and capacity for the 2008 macbook. Here's the memory I recieved http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011UPBMA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
So since installing even though the system seems to read the memory correctly showing in system profiler that 4GB is recognized and the status reads "OK" the system is crashing
Below is the latest system crash report that I copied from when I had to restart the computer. Any help on what to do or if the memory is bad?
Note: After booting into safe boot. The system is still crashing! (The report below is before the crash in safe boot)

Hmmm I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to conclude that it's not compatible. I mean vendor of ram shouldn't be why it's not working as I just got done installing Corsair ram into my mid 2009 MBP and although had trouble initially was able to figure out (with the help of this forum and a very helpful member: Kappy) that I had an incompatible (for OSX) kext installed on my sytem. The Corsair ram on my MBP is running great now.
Wish I knew how to read the panic report. Anything pointing to something else that may be incompatible or anything pointing specifically to the memory.
I'm not trying to ignore your advice as I'm very appreciative of it, it's just that I was pretty certain that the ram purchased should be compatible as I checked all specifications and noticed the reviews pointing to compatibility.

  • Need HDD plastic outer case cover for Satalite L300D-242

    Hello all! :)
I have a Toshiba Satalite L300D-242 Laptop and am looking for the Hard Disk plastic outer case cover, can anyone help, part number?
    Thank you
    Dawny

    Hi mate
Im not sure what part do you need.
Are you looking for an external USB case for a 2.5 HDD?
You can purchase such part in many online shops. You will need one which is compatible with SATA 2.5 HDD.
Otherwise I recommend contacting an Toshiba ASP in your country if you need an part especially for your notebook model.

  • A great case cover for the Passport

While I eagerly await the arrival of my 4th Vaja case for as many devices, I purchased a case cover that is one of the best I have ever seen. It covers the back and sides of the Passport and is really stylish, even elegant...a word I seldom use...lol  Anyway, if u just want a cover that provides some protection for the back and sides and looks really cool, you might want to look at this one. I bought it on
Amazon for only about $7....in fact I'll probably use it alternatively with the Vaja ("Agenda" style) case that's on the way....Bill
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PKEFSQC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

another suggestion: this case covers all around and actually completely covers the side keys with no impediment to their use ...it is semi-soft and absorbs shocks better than a hard case which would transmit forces to the fone
    http://www.amazon.com/Amzer-Pudding-Cover-BlackBerry-Passport/dp/B00OCJ12FC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_1?ie=...
...I have one I purchased actually before the phone arrived, but have changed to the StilGut which has a front cover...
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OUKM30G/ref=psdc_3081461011_t2_B00OCJ12FC
the presentation of the StilGut is very good with great fit, little mass, flat closure out of the box, screen off magnet that does not interfere when folded back completely flat behind, perfect placement of the portal for the LED ...good stuff...

  • Swapping brand new black iPhone 4 for a white one

I recently lost my white iPhone 4 and managed to pay for a new one through my insurance, however I was sent a black iPhone 4. I have not used the new phone nor removed it from its packaging. Would I be able to trade this in at the apple store for a white iPhone 4?
    Thanks.

If you didn't get the iPhone from the Apple Store, then the chances of them allowing an exchange is very small, but you can ask. Most dealers, and this includes the Apple Stores, will only accept a return of a product purchased from that store.
    Good luck.

  • Getting a Case(Shell) for my White MacBook. Which one to get?

Hey guys, my question is what should i get as a shell. I read the reviews for the spec shells that they stain the macbook and scratch it. What should I get? And another question what product would you guys recommend for cleaning the screen?
I have the 13'' white macbook.

I wouldn't bother with a shell myself. They don't really do anything but waste money and add unnecessary bulk to the system. They aren't going to magically protect your system from a good drop off a table or anything like that. Hard shells will just translate all that energy right into the system. A rubberized shell might absorb SOME of the shock, but probably never enough to really be worthwhile.
As for cleaning the screen... A soft lint free cloth and a little water is all you should really need. Just go to an auto parts store, or the auto parts section of some retail store, and get a chamois.
The most important things to remember here is to turn the system off and remove/disconnect the battery FIRST. Then you want to be gentle with the pressure you apply to the screen. It's very easy to crush the little LCD cells and transistors that control them, so do not press hard. If you have ever seen how an LCD discolors if you press your finger against it, that is a warning sign that you're pressing too hard and are in danger of permanently damaging the screen. So use less pressure than that.
