Quick question, when you restored your SMS messages, was it done using BlackBerry Link, or did you use a third party app to transfer your conversation history? If you can let me know I'll see what I can find out for you.

Hi folks, Brand new here, hoping that someone here can help me. I just changed my z10 over to a new Leap - love it so far - with one exception. I did my own back up/restore data from my Z10 to transfer my contacts and media, settings etc.Everything seemed to transfer fine - except my SMS messages.THey show up as individual messages with no name or number, and I can't reply in those messages. A couple of my conversations transferred from the Z10 fine and have continued to work fine, but all the others are a total mess. The Leap has: Blackberry 10 OS 10.3.2.2168 I have checked the settings multiple times to ensure it will show as showing in conversation and not individual messages, double checked encryption or random blocked information, I have tried retstarting, tried everything I can think of. Hoping there is just some easy thing I am missing here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Phone won't show contact name in recents list

Phone won't show contact name while somebody call me, the same is in recent list under number is unknown. I already reset my phone and try to make new contact when somebody called me and it isn't work.

you have entered the number in the wrong format. There should be no zeros. IF you were entering my number then that would be +617 XXXX XXXX with the + being the international dial out code and 61 being the country code 7 the area code without leading zeros and rest being my number.
If someone wanted to call me from insider the country but from another state they would dial 07 XXXX XXXX but the international dialing format would still work. Note that the 0 in the area code is not used in the international dialing format

IPhone 3G using iOS4.2.1 won't show Contact's anniversaries in Calendar

iPhone 3G using iOS4.2.1 and it won't show a Contact's anniversary in my Calendar. Both are iPhone apps. I just go in to "Contacts" - choose someone - "Edit" - "add field" - "Date" - "anniversary" then choose the date and "Done". But when I go to Calendar it is NOT shown on the bottom with birthday events when I highlight that day on my month view.

Anniversaries and birthdays are entered differently in Contacts. Birthdays that are transferred over from Contacts are those that you have specifically entered using the Card>Add Field>Birthday in Contacts. If you used Card>Add Field>Dates to enter your anniversaries, dates entered that way are not transfered over to iCal. Only the "birthday" entries are picked up.
Although to you a birthday is an anniversary of one's birth, it must be entered using Contacts' birthday field in order for iCal to "see it" and transfer the date. Hope that helps.

NOKIA E63 WON'T SHOW CONTACT NAMES WHEN THEY SEND ...

I just bought the Nokia E63, and have tried everything in my power to solve the issue that, when i recieve a text message it doesn't show who it's from - it just shows their mobile number. This is so annoying and has been bugging me for hours on end. I have all my contacts saved on my sim card. Please help me!

Nokia E63 doesn't show contact from your SIM card in the phone directory directly.
You need to manually "view SIM directory" to see them.
Better you copy all the contacts from your SIM card to Phone Memory.
Then you can choose/type in the name & type message & send it.
Ya one thing is really irritating which is that even if you type the number instead of the name of a person who's entry exists in the contact list, the phone still shows the number rather then the name of the person after sending the message.

New external hard drive won't show up in disk utilities...

I have a 2010 macbook pro 13" and just bought a 1tb toshiba canvio external hard drive.
The hard drive itself has a USB 3.0 hub running out of it and the specifications say that it needs to run into at least a 2.0 hub, which I have.
I know I will need to reformat the external drive to get it to work on a mac, but it won't show up at all when I plug it in... the drive starts spinning but there is no recognition by my mac.
Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

So far all MacBook users have been able to use this drive as a USB 2.0 by using a USB 2.0 cable with a micro usb connector (same as smartphones, Kindle, Nook) on one end. Connect the micro connector to the opening on the left side of the USB 3.0 connector on the Canvio - if you look closely you'll see that side is exactly like the USB 2.0 micro receptacle. That's all you need to connect as a USB 2.0 - the other connections are for USB 3.0 which no Apple system has yet (Dec 2011). Connect the other end (a standard USB type A plug) to your MacBook and it will work. If you want to use it for Time Machine, you'll have to reformat it. When I am texting or emailing, the iPhone won't auto-select a contact's name as I type it.... It used to and I am wondering why?
I did just get a new MBP and I am wondering if maybe I have not 'synced' (my contacts...?) right or something like that.... Any help would be awesomely appreciated.

I have even been to the Apple Store and spoke to a Genius. He suggested that I erase and re-set the phone, which I have done and it is still not working.

New Canon Pixma ip4600 won't show on my Airport Express printer list

Hi,
I've just had to replace my old Pixma ip4000 printer with a new ip4600 printer. The printer has set-up on my iMac and Macbook but it does not show in Airport Utility in the printers section. I've tried unplugging the printer from the USB and unplugging the AE but whichever combination I try it does no good. All ok on the usb direct to the computer.
I've followed many of the support articles to no avail. Can somebody help please? Until the printer shows on the AE I'm unable to print wirelessly.

Hi Colin,
As you have said in your post, until you can get the Express to recognise the iP4600 as being connected via USB, you will not be able to add the printer. And note that you cannot use the More Printers > Canon IJ Network facility - this is for Canon's that are connected via Ethernet or wireless to the network.
Are you using the same USB cable to connect the iP4600 to the Express as you are for connecting directly to the Mac's USB? If not, then try another USB cable.
If you are using the same cable, then has the Express got a reset button? I know the Extreme's do and I'm thinking that possibly the Express is still expecting the iP4000 on the USB. If there is no button then you could a factory reset via the Airport utility. You could also check if there are any updates for the Express.

Skype won't show contact photos

I'm having trouble viewing my contact photos on my iPad air(iOS 8.0) with Skype(iOS version 4.19). I've noticed my contact photos will not load and it's a bit frustrating. If anyone knows how to solve this, it would be amazing for you to help.

Hi, In such case, try to check the things below:
1> Make sure all contacts are stored in unique memory : sim or phone memory (recommend phone memory)
2> Try to avoid 1 contacts has few numbers and other case, similar or same names for fews contacts
3> Add your country code into the normal number format, eg: 0123455678 --> saved as +60 12345678 (+60 is the country code for MY)
4> Check the settings under Contacts folder: Contacts > Settings > Contact view or Display contacts > try to change Last name/ First name view option one by one

Check online with the web site of the maker of your video card for an updated driver (assuming you're running Windows).

My phone won't show notifications for text messages on my lock screen or my home screen, even thought both are turned on under the settings. Once I go into the messaging app, they will show up as new but not anywhere else. I get notifications for everything else except text messages.

Messages should work with the email address that you use for your Apple ID. You have to be signed into that email address in order for any other email address that you have added to work.
You should add your iPhone number to your Apple ID on the iPad, and then select that as the contact address at which you can be reached and all of the messages between the phone and the iPad will sync again.

If your phone number isn't listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of iOS.

How do you add contacts to new web text service?

This has been an obnoxious experience with Verizon's new text service from the web site to any device. I tried to get started doing exactly what they said to do. I selected all my contacts that appeared in the list to add to the contacts in the web text contact list. I immediately got a message saying I had too many contacts. How much does it cost them for a few extra contacts when Verizon is already storing this information on their site from my iphone backup assistant. Then I tried deleting contacts from the list in front of me. The list did not work. It was a dead list that could not be clicked on unless you selected all contacts at the top. But that's exactly what Verizon didn't want. I preferred to use this list to remove contacts because it included my notes about the contact that would help me to decide contacts I didn't need. Then I tried choice two, a small window to the right of this that held all the contacts and I was able to click on those I could delete, even though this didn't include the contact info in the list form on the left. I spent a great deal of time doing this because each time I clicked to remove a contact, the list of contacts started at the very beginning again. I kept navigating each time I deleted a contact and finally after very long time had finished. I clicked to add the remaining contacts and received a big notice in my face that the session had timed out. I was extremely angry that Verizon carelessly forced me into spending all that time because they are too cheap to store more than the mandatory number of contacts they decided you needed. I got through the fury and started the wild goose chase of trying to contact Verizon. All those links did was to take me to messages and articles, etc. that had nothing to do with the problem. No matter how few or how many words I used to search, it still found nothing relevant. I reluctantly tried to use live chat which said chat available now. I clicked on chat and nit only directed me back to the same page where I could get no information at all. This sees like a great scam to me., The greedy telephone company tries to sell themselves as offering a free new service!! Then they make it impossible to set up the account no matter how hard I tried. I spent at least 3 hours going around in circles, actually believing each new sign to contact Verizon which always led back to the same dead end. How do you manage to get your contacts deleted to their arbitrary number within their very arbitrary time limit? There is no good reason for either the number of contacts to be limited so greatly or for the time it takes to do this tedious manual deleting to be limited in such a manner. Even if they are going to be nasty and limit the time you have to delete contacts, the least they could do is tell up front how long you have to make these cuts. Or they could have, when nearing the limit of time, given me a 5 minute warning. Not from Verizon. They should not have forced me to delete contacts to begin with and secondly there should not be time limit on such a tedious job. It really makes me hate a company that I already dislike. They are so greedy that my land line ad cell cost me over $250 a month. Any suggestions on how to complete this tedious task before the time is up would be greatly appreciated. Other companies allow their customers to easily send texts right from the website. Why Verizon decided to provide an app which I don't need and which will prevent me from using the we texting service is something I don't understand. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Heysan and Jivetalk look a lot like the mobile versions of the major IM apps (like http://mm.yahoo.com). If accessing Yahoo, I need to create my buddies and groups in Yahoo using a full interface, and they show up on the mobile interface. The mobile interface doesn't allow me the same flexibility.
