New Lenovo G570 Teething Issues

Dear Lenovo-connected moderators, outriders and the like (Please note that in error I originally posted this to the other thread):
I just bought in Europe a new Lenovo G570.  I have the following issues:
Since I always resize the C: partition I have removed the possibility of using one-key restore.  It seems bizarre that Lenovo would force keeping the C: partition at its initial size.  Surely it would be possible to write the one-key software to work around repartitioning the HDD.  I did the resize of the C: partition immediately after purchase as part of my personal data and program installation and found out later about the requirement not to resize.  Moreover, as far as I can recall there was no D: partition already installed, which I might have been able to live with (I prefer multiple data partitions).  Any way to fix this problem?  For I restored the C: partition to its original size but that didn't help; I couldn't get the recovery DVD's made; the one-key button was non-functional.  What do I have to do to get the recovery features back?  For I see that for very similar products a fresh install of Win 7 causes all kinds of problems, and in the absence of recovery DVD's that's really the only other option.  I should point out that at the moment the computer is working; I'm just trying to do my preventative medicine for the day the computer crashes.
Lenovo's model numbering is very confusing, as is the Lenovo habit of updating system specs on the fly.  My model name is 20079; my model number is CB01031166.  If I download the current specs for the model from the Lenovo site (just did) they don't agree with what I have.  Major differences are that my computer shipped with an Intel i5-2410M processor, a 640 GB HDD and with a separate ATI Graphics Card (Radeon Premium).  Thanks, but this leads to issues about driver updates when I search for downloads for my computer on the Lenovo site.  In particular, it's not clear to me whether I should be reflashing BIOS with the latest BIOS.  On the thread about serious issues with the Idea Pad Z570, I saw recommended the reflashing of the BIOS.  You might ask, well why would I go there?  Because the Lenovo site does not support searching on models that are not branded Think Pad or Idea Pad.  Mine's branded Essentials and it's just not recognized even in the automated search using the Internet Explorer.  So searching for Lenovo G570, that's what a Google search turned up and the specs of the Z570 are extremely similar to the G570 I have.  So if someone could tell me how to find the driver updates for my model, I'd be very grateful.
I see in the Z570 thread that if the CD is not the first boot priority then the WiFi doesn't work.  Does this also apply to my model?
When I boot with an external Sata HDD attached (to see if BIOS will recognize it for boot purposes), the boot procedure freezes until I unplug the Sata HDD.  Of course the external HDD is plugged into the USB port.  This seems to be a problem with the BIOS, although admittedly I can't recall if the BIOS flash screen shows and it freezes after, or it freezes before it reaches the BIOS flash screen.
I also see that the fan that's always running is actually a serious warranty issue.  I hadn't realized that it wasn't some quirk of my software.  So here we are with a serious warranty issue.  Update: 23/2/12.  This does not seem to be a real problem on my machine at the moment.  While the fan works more than I would have expected, it will shut down eventually once the computer is not doing anything.  Possibly the actual software I'm using on the machine is causing heavy fan use.  This is something of a relief.
According to the specs the computer ships with a USB/eSata port.  And indeed there is a port in the right place that is different from the other USB ports.  The port of course works with USB.  However, its shape is not the usual eSatap shape.  In particular it doesn't have the cutouts left and right for the usual eSatap jack.  Instead it has a cutout at the top.  But for the life of me and my dealer, there is nowhere on the Net where we can find an image of the Lenovo USB/eSata port and certainly nowhere where I can buy a jack/adaptor/external SATA disk that fits the Lenovo USB/eSata port.
Here's an image of my USB/eSata port.  It's the middle of the three ports.  Of course, on the left is something for TV that is irrelevant, and to the right is a normal USB port.  How do I find anything to work with it at eSata speeds?
Thanks very much.

Thanks for replying ExJamJus.
I will ask the local reseller, but I suspect they don't know more than anyone else.  The problem is that the specs are very fluid on these units--after all, I have a ATI Radeon graphics card whereas the specs typically say that its an integrated (on-the-motherboard) Intel graphics card.  Some places, as other users have noted, they do spec it as having an eSata/USB port, but there's just no plug available with that shape with any specification.  My technician who sold me the computer thought that the only possibility was that the plug would be introduced later.  He'd never seen one and he takes computers apart and fixes them.
As for the drivers, I installed all the drivers.  Nothing terrible happened except as follows:
One of the ATI Radeon updates, for Hydravision I believe, comes to an end where kdbsync.exe can't start at boot time because Open.dll is missing.  You can follow up on the Internet.  The fix is to download Open.dll and put it in the proper folder in Program files.  It works now--or at least I don't get an error message at boot time.
This is import for Lenovo: Lenovo energy management upgrade gave me the option to install on top of the old Lenovo energy management but it would require a reboot.  So I did it.  But what happened was that Lenovo energy management wouldn't start at boot time.  I tried repair, no deal.  So I had to completely uninstall Lenovo energy management and then do a fresh install.  It works now.  This is going to irritate people.  Bad for business.
It's unclear in some of these cases just what driver is installed on the computer and it's not clear whether the driver installer programs are always coded to check whether the driver being installed is not older than the installed driver.  So it makes it a little chancy to download and install a driver that was issued not long before the manufacture date of the product.

  • Help! Brand New Lenovo A10-70 - Issue Downloading Apps

    Hi Lenovo Community,
I just purchased a brand new A10-70 tablet and while I love the price and features, there appears to be on major issue. Whenever I try to download game apps from Google Playstore, the pad errors out and tells me "Application Could Not Load to SD Card", heck I don't even have an SD card installed.
This is  actually the second tablet doing this to me. I took the first one back and exchanged it thinking that there was a software glitch but it now appears it is a platform issue.
Games such as Minecraft PE simply will not load while others appear to load fine but then when you go to open the app and  use it, you get a notice that the app is not installed.
I have other tablets from Samsung, HP and even Nabi which have never had  issues downloading game application.
    What's up with Lenovo?
I am willing  to try to get corrected but cannot wait long, will take back  and get another Samsung.
    Thanks,

  • Lenovo G570 essential - One Key Recovery issue

Hello to everybody and congratulations for the forum. I have a Lenovo G570 notebook which is running the original version of Windows 7 that came installed with. Before I mention the problem I have to state that I have restructured the hard drive by using the program Acronis Disk Director. When I click the One Key Recovery application and choose the RECOVERY option I receive the follwing message.
"The program cannot find the service partition. The service is currently unavalaible."
After checking, I noticed a change in the Default recovery partition (the factory one) and the Windows installation partition. These partitions are not ACTIVE as before. What can I do in order to overcome this problem and achieve to restore my notebook to the factory default installation?

    Hello Oust_alex,
First the simple procedure to bring the system to factory setting by using the recovery disc if you have created before altering the partitions.
If the recovery disc is not created then you must restore the partitions as previous and then check.
Last option is to purchase the recovery disc from the service center.

    Hello all
I am new here, looking for some help regarding my Lenovo G570.
Yesterday, it was working perfectly, I properly shut is down. I have set a BIOS pasword.
Today, when I switch it on, I was unable to type the pasword becasu some keys were not working. However, I managed to loged in with the help of On Screen Keyboard. After analysing it, I came to know that some keys on numpad includeing 0,2 and on the 2nd line(vertical numerical keys) 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,0 are not working. I tried to re-install the OS but I set a BIOS paswoed containing one of the missing keys.
Please let me know whether it is a software problem or should i take my laptop to some repairing shop?
    Thanks

  • Lenovo g570 - problems after updating intel hd graphics

    Hello!
I think i came across a small bug. Don't know for sure which software is to blame, but i think it's the Lenovo Energy Management's  fault.
I bought a lenovo g570, with intel integrated graphics driver. Installed w7 64 sp1, drivers from DVD. After a while windows update popuped with intel hd graphics new driver. After installing it, the brightness indicator (the thing that pops up when u change the brightness from the keyboard) got stuck at level 2 even if the display brightness was changing.
After 2 days i changed my mind and installed w7 32 sp1  after finding out it was a bit pointless to have it these days when lots of programs are running on 32bits. The same thing happened on this windows. The brightness indicator got stuck.
The mind**bleep** thing (or not) is that after reverting to the old graphics driver, everything was working ok and the brightness indicator got unstucked.

Same here in Lenovo G 470, I have tried three times installing and rollbacking, but the problem still remains same.
Actually before updating graphic driver if you keep your brightness indicator at 'x' level, then after updation, it will always stuck at the 'x' level, although the brightness is changing.
But I think it is not a serious issue if everything else is working file, So you could keep your driver updated.

  • Lenovo G570 model 4334: Ram Compatibility

When i used Crucial's memory finder it says the laptop supports DDR3 1333 (10600) and DDR3 1600 (12800). On the Newegg memory finder it also says that the laptop supports DDR3 1600 (12800). However on the tech specs pdf from Lenovo, it shows that it supports DDR3 1333 (10600). My question is does the Lenovo Essentials G570: 4334 laptop support DDR3 1600 (12800) or are these memory finders invalid?

all sandys surport ram no problem.
lenovo might cap the max bandwith but for the most part there are no issues with sandys at all.
some other cpu/chipsets dont like certin process nand.
the newer low volt faster nanosec wont work in some and will in others.
BUT FOR SANDY BRIDGE ITS DIFFERENT!
why? well when the older cpu did not have the memcontroller on core it was on die or on the northbridge and the process of the ram changed alot so you get one speed ram say 1066 but it really two generations apart because the chips used were different.
the older ram used larger less chips and the newer ones used smaller and more of them, thats a quick way to tell.
there also the ram timing but most is selective.
mix and match ram brands on older pc that have dual band mode and they act up.
thats why they sell dual matched sets.
on sandy that not a issue any more as they can run independent of each other.
you can mix timing, brand and even speed and sandy will default it with zero issue.
on older pc well some will default and some will just act act up.
but most of the issues come from really late model different NS speed that they DONT PRINT!
brazos has ram issues and i am certin it that very reason.
so when you buy ram they sale ram is going to be the cheapest they can make and that will be the lowest cost nand and that is the newest nand as they can make more chips that are smaller from one disc.
so add this new ram to a older generation that dont have a bios or chipset surport well then it bad luck to you.
the reason sandy dont have any issues is the fact it brand new in lead with the newest process of nand made and the memeroy controller is a really great design made to except higher then offical surport speed.
older pc might not surport larger size in a certin slot or max amount.
plus the pc maker might limit this as it exceeds there power so a chipset might surport 4x2 but the laptop wont due to the extra draw of current.
    dual band most of all.
dual makes the chipsets really work over time so a slight change will be a huge problem for that chipset most of all because there no selection in the bios to run single model two channels.
intel is doing away with dual band however once again sandy bridge run flawless even under low volt even if the bios has no setting for low volt sandy will make it so.
plus most web sites like new egg print SURPORT SANDY BRIDGE.
that means the ram can make use of sandys extra features like voltage change and read, plus higher clocks and you can change them outside the bios.
    same speed different numbers.
that whats freaks alot of people out is the 10600 10666 10700 1066 ram.
those are the different brand nand made at different founderys like hynix or samsung or intel or even micron.
slight differences who made them where they made for say ocz brand produce the same speed but slightly different numbers.
these are what causes problems for certin cpu chipset and brands in a notebook and why some ram works and some dont.
    lenovo uses samsung.
so most people wanna have zero issues outside of sandy bridge just use that and read what samsung says on there web page about the ns class.
some cheap brands use old leftover nand that if used on a newer pc will cause a problem because that nand was made for a different ram speed and the pc maker did not take that into account.
samsung pulls old nand right away as to not have that kinda issue when you buy there brand but that dont mean samsung nand wont show up in a ocz product.
this is why crucial has a great name.
they dont use old micron nand and have you jump threw hoops.
bottom line is buy a ram brand from a company that make the nand.
even if they dont use there own nand they will use the best i&h chips out there.

  • Web Camera doesn't work on my Lenovo G570 laptop, Please Help?

Well I recently bought a lenovo G570 laptop. The webcam worked fine for the first month. I don't really know when the camera stopped working but it seems that every software that uses a camera can detect the camera but when the video window pops up it is just plain white. I know the reason isn't because of the hot key FN+ESC because it works fine, I can disable and enable the camera. I read many threads with the same problem. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers and easy capture but it does not solve my problem. Can someone please help?

As I  understand the camera is not working.
If the camera is getting activate by Fn+Esc key then it could be driver issue.
You need to uninstall the camera software and other relates software.
Update the BIOS and then install the camera drier
Download the BIOS update for Windows 7 32bit from the mentioned below web link.

  • My New Lenovo G580 - Blue Screen Error

    Hi,
    I have bought a new lenovo G580 (Intel B950/2GB/500GB) with DOS (on Friday - 21 Spetember, 2012).
I have installed another 2GB RAM in the extra slot. So, I have a total of 2+2 GB RAM now.
I installed Windows7 in it. It has worked fine for 1 day, but when I installed the G580 bluetooth, wifi drivers, it started crashing with bluescreen creating a dump file. Now I am even unable to start the system. I have formatted the system twice by could not trace it out. I have seen other forums and found out that it is due to some dropbox issues etc., But I have not installed even 1 software. As soon as I installed windows7, I started with the drivers (Drivers DVD came along with my laptop)
    Please help me.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Sudheer,
If you are able to open windows go to
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools and select the last option to "generate system health report" .If something is wrong with the system or a service windows will flag it for you. If you are not able to open windows and try opening it in the safe mode(press F8 during startup) check for the same.
Also try opening windows in a clean state
In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.
Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
When you are prompted, click Restart.
If this does not cause a BSOD then I would suspect there is a driver conflict/compatiablity in your system. Can you provide the exact error in the BSOD which you see?
    Hope this helps

  • Ubuntu 11.10 for lenovo G570

I have previosly used Ubuntu Linux for an year on my desktop and would like to switch to Ubuntu on laptop too. But I have some specific worried which I want to clarify before really stepping in it so I don't land on troubles.
    My Laptop details:
    Lenovo G570
2nd Gen i5; 4GB DDR3 RAM; 1GB ATI Radeon Graphics; # I think Intel HD is also present, I found in system info in Win7.
    500 GB Hard Disk
    Bluetooth, Wifi, Cam
    15.6'' Screen
    Now my concerns are:
When I install Ubuntu, doesn the "Fn" hot-keys work?
I haven't got any Linux drivers with my laptop, so how do I install them so that the "Fn" key and other graphics settings can be maintained.
I have AMD Catalyst centre on Win7, how do I got such softwares over Ubuntu
I haven't got any linux tools of OneKey recovey for Linux. So, how do I install OneKey Recovey on Ubuntu; How do I create a special partition for OneKey recovery at the time of setup on Ubuntu.
#If I have missed anything that has to be noted while switching to Ubuntu, please tell me

Can you please explain what do you mean? What problems are reported? I can't go and search for every single issues people are reporting. (sorry)
Every hardware has it's own "personality", it doesn't mean that you will automatically have those issues too and it is different from distro to distro, depending on the version of kernel a specific distro is using.
Too, I know that there are some solutions for the fan issue for Linux. But I do not know what problems are you referring to.
I know it's up to you, but can you first try a copy of ubuntu in live mode? Than you can tell if you have those problems or not

I'm just a volunteer. I like to help others where I can. Do my ideas work? I hope so. o_O
Who helped you today? Do not forget to thank him.

So I remove the had disk and connect it to my computer and I install successfully but when I connect the HD with Laptop "it boot up to starting windows then it crash with blue screen" and I don't have any backup or anything
please tell me what to do

    hi samsfs01,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
If your cd/dvd drive is not working, the alternate way to install Windows 7 is by creating a bootable Windows 7 USB Flash Drive. - check here - http://tinyurl.com/q7m5v2 - for step by step guide A probable reason why you got a bluescreen from the post above is because it's trying to read the machine information where you installed Windows and when you put it on a different PC, the machine information got changed (this normally happens if the two machines are not identical).
    Hope this helps.

  • Lenovo g570

Hello I am new to this forum so forgive me if I have posted in the wrong place.
I have a Lenovo G570 laptop and I accidentally uninstalled my wireless network adaptor last night I have searched the internet for answers and found nothing helpful. I tried switching my laptop off and back on so windows would install it for me. But it just says could not install. Could anyone help me with this problem as I am desperate to get it to work again,

    Hi 11and 11,
Welcome to the Lenovo forums.  All of your drivers can be found on this link.  The wireless drivers are located under Networking: Wireless LAN.
