New Lightroom & ACR 5D Preset Available

I have a set of presets for Lightroom 1.1 and ACR 4.1 that will IMHO improve on the default color rendering.
This is currently a beta, so feedback is appreciated.
To obtain the beta please mail me: [email protected]
I look forward to your comments.

Anyone know how to install these presets in XP Pro?
The website has instructions for OSX and Vista
from http://huelight.com/page3/page3.html :
"To install in ACR, Copy the .xmp to your Photoshop 'Settings' folder and select the Olycoly preset in ACR under the 'Presets' tab.
The settings folder is located as follows:-
Windows Vista - /AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings
OSX - /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings "
I can't find " AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings " anywhere in XP.
Furthermore, when I unzipped the downloaded file there are TWO .xmp files. Which of the 2 do I copy?

  • When will new Lightroom update be available with support for new cameras

Just purchased a fugi XT1.  Any idea when new Lightroom update will be available for support for the raw RAF files?
    Thanks,

Well, not really - that FAQ doesn't explains policy on pre-announcing support, which is what's actually being asked about.
This gets closer, but even this is unspecific as to the policy...
Matthew, the short answer is: nobody who knows is allowed to say.

In fact, it may not even be right for teh same 30D under different conditions.<br /><br />To illustrate this, today I photographed the same colour chequer twice and ran the script on both files. Under the studio fluorescents, with a very different illumination level, etc, etc - but the same camera within about three minutes, the same lights, the same colour chequer, and came up with:<br /><br /><TABLE BORDER=1><br /><B><br /><TR><br />  <TD ALIGN="CENTER">Item</TD><br />  <TD ALIGN="CENTER">Photo 1</TD><br />  <TD ALIGN="CENTER">Photo 2</TD><br /></TR><br /></B><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Colour Temp</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">5500</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">5150</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Tint</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">16</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">21</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Exposure</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">0.6</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">0.7</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Red Hue</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">1</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">2</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Red Saturation</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">22</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">22</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Green Hue</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">24</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">28</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Green Saturation</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">-2</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">10</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Blue Hue</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">-6</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">-5</TD></TR><br /><TR><TD ALIGN="CENTER">Blue Saturation</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">8</TD><TD ALIGN="CENTER">-9</TD></TR><br /></TABLE><br /><br />So, this would be telling you that<br /><br />- most things want more red saturation<br><br />- my so-called 6500 K illumination is good in red but off in green<BR><br />- things are never the same twice<br /><br />So while it's interesting to calibrate, if you look too closely you'll  end up wishing you'd never asked. • New LightRoom Plugin available on SmugMug.

There's a new LightRoom Plugin available on SmugMug
    Details: http://news.smugmug.com/2012/01/31/new-sync-your-photos-with-lightrooms-latest-plugin/

    Sean,
Ideally, if this job is done right, people will be able to make a robust plugin without needing to understand so much of what's under the hood.
Anyway, I don't much understand the web-engine plugins, nor how they fit into the rest of the infrastructure - this is the area where your expertise may be the most valuable.
Don't forget to chime in on the Lightroom Plugin Development site over at Assembla too...

  • Lightroom 4 Tethering Preset Publish -- Automation

    Hello,
I have a specific need to shoot tethered in Lightroom, apply some presets, then publish (FTP to two location, publish on FaceBook), and save a copy of the file - that is save the modified file with a new name in a different directory and close that file. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Vic

Automator on Mac looks very powerful and can apply a set of actions if a file or folder is added to a specific targeted folder.
I am not a Mac expert.... but I would try the following.
Shoot Tethered, setting up Lightroom with whatever  Lightroom Preset settings you wish to apply. You will have defined in Lightroom where the images are to be stored (Session Folder) and defined in your camera if you are using Raw / Jpg.
Create an Automator action, which is activated for any files added to the  Session Folder above. Get Automator to open this file in Photoshop.
    You now have two options.
    a. Configure Photoshop to apply a set of Photoshop actions you require (possibly triggered by the Open File Event), which may include Raw presets and save your file to your choice of folder , with relevant settings (ie Jpg, psd, resolution, etc)
or b.  There are a whole bunch of pre-configured Automator Photoshop actions which can purchased / trialled / downloaded from the internet (and loads of tutorials).  Some of these may apply the actions / presets you require.  This option has the advantage that you can continue your Automator script delivering the results to ftp / facebook etc. [Here is an example of such actions... http://www.robotphotoshop.com/?page_id=8 ... ps. I have no connection to this site or author, it was just the first site I found using google with photoshop / automator).
Using Apple or Java scripts with Photoshop scripting language is an extremely powerful alternative... but unless you are familiar with script writing / photoshop object models, etc... it is not for the faint hearted.
Automator with Photoshop should give you a lot of options.
As I said at the top,  I am not aware of a scripting tool within Lighroom, hence the suggestion to use Photoshop and apply raw presets or any other changes using the full power of Photoshop.

  • Lightroom 5 export presets are missing

I have no presets available when exporting. Why not?

Not sure if move or add was selected; what is the default?  I did do a preliminary search of my hard drive but interrupted it because it was taking so long.  I will let it finish searching.  I must have moved them.  They're not in the recycle bin.
There is a catalog for both Lightroom 4 and 5.  I upgraded the Lightroom 4 catalog but that didn't help.

    Hello,
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It looks like they do still have it:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
And it's been reported that if you have a MobileMe account Apple will send one free.
    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.

I receive a massage that a new version of ITunes was available (11.1.4). I proceeded to update, the download went ok but when installing the Message “Service ’Apple Mobile Device’ failed to start, verify that you have sufficient Privileges to start system Services”
On pressing retry I got the same message.
On pressing Ignore, I got the message “ITunes was not installed correctly, please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)
I reinstalled with the same error messages and the same results.
I uninstalled existing and reinstalled from scratch and the same error messages again.
I try to repair and at the end it said it had installed correctly – but when it tried to start I got the message “This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem” I now get the same message when I first start the computer but when I press ok I receive ““ITunes was not installed correctly; please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)” again.
It appears the update has not only corrupted the operating system (Xp Pro SP3) of my computer but I have no backups to my IPhone, my wife’s IPhone or the three others phones that use my computer.
I hope you can advise me how to recover my backups

Yes, you have to find the catalog file from the CC trial (use your operating system to search for it, the file name ends with .LRCAT), and then once you find it, open the LR5 trial and open the catalog you just found using File->Open Catalog
