New Location of Antenna is poor

Pick up your cell phone. It does not matter if it is an iphone. Now, without adjusting anything, look at your hand. Turn your palm to you. Most likely, you are holding your phone in the palm of your hand with your palm [from the end of the pinky to the end of the hand] facing you. I went to the iphone section of apple's website and sorted through the iphone applications. One was this website => http://www.inetworktest.com/ <= Here, you can perform data speed connection tests. To get right to the issue, holding the iphone in a normal position in your hand to call or to surf the web, dramatically reduces the data connection versus not holding the phone. I commend Apple as they are a great company and are always leading the way in technology. However, because all antennae are at the bottom of the phone, both calls and internet suffer. It is bad enough that the iphone to be small meant no 3G. However, there are better solutions that are feasible. If anything at all, what I want to accomplish is for Apple to Think different.

I don't agree. I just ran the test 6 times. 3 time vertical and 3 times horizontal. Please note that I covered the black antenna with my entire hand each time I did the test and tired to keep the phone in the same spot in front of me with the exception of the phone being horizontal or vertical. The results are nearly the same in either orientation. Here are the results:
#1 Vertical 226
#2 Vertical 231.6
#3 Vertical 220
Average Vertical 225.866
#1 Horizontal 231
#2 Horizontal 216.7
#3 Horizontal 206.6
Average Horizontal 218.1

  • Moved G5 to new location, airport not working

    I just moved my G5 downstairs to the same exact place where I typically use my laptop (powerbook G4). Never had an issue with the laptop recognizing airport and going online, but now my G5 won't show any networks at all and I can't get airport to work.
    Is there something I should be changing in the settings or how can I get airport to work on my G5 in the new location?
    Thanks much!

    Hello BDAqua
    No problem, I do quite a bit of experimenting with my Macs and find out some weird things, but some are working to my advantage, I always operate my Power Mac G5 without the side panel now, but of course keep the air deflector in place, unless theres company coming over, then I replace the side access panel. Also, there is an antenna inside the G5. It runs along the opposite side of the G5 case behind the logic board to the rear of the case, where the external antenna is connected. So by removing the side access panel, it allows for moderate reception. =) As mentioned earlier though, definitely not as good as the external antenna, but when used without the access panel in combination with the external antenna, it get better reception than my 1.25GHz iMac G4 did. And by the way, this also is true for Bluetooth as well, as I have a Bluetooth Board installed in my G5. =) I loaded my G5 once I bought it (Used).
    Regards again. =)

  • I changed the name of my imac to reflect it's new location, but inadvertently, it unchecked the box to allow the administrative user account to administer the machine.  I am trying to reinstall with a time machine backup and am unable

    I need a little help.  I changed the name of my imac to reflect it's new location, but inadvertently, when I saved the change, the system unchecked the "allow this account to administer the computer" so now I can't make any changes....  I tried to reinstall the OS, but it wants me to go online while installing and use my apple id, but this is not my iMAC, so I don't want to use my account.  Also, I am working in a building that will not allow me network access until I authenticate, which can't be done unless I open the browser first.  So I'm stuck at this point.  I can't even restore a time machine backup that I have because it gives the error message that the system encountered an error.  Any suggestions?

    I have consolidate my folders related to the video I am in the progress of working on.  Premiere elements does not follow their new location.  How do I syn them back up all at once so premiere doesn't ask me for their location when I open the project

    This is the Photoshop Elements forum, not the Premiere Elements forum, located here:
    https://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
    When you open the project, it should ask you where the first file is located. After you tell it where it is, it should be able to find the rest of them if they are located near the first one.  Then save the file.  If you move the files again, you will have to relink them again.

  • How do I move multiple folders to  a new location

    I'm tring to reorganize after a computer crash. How do I move multiple folders to  a new location?

    In the Organizer you can switch to Folder Location View by clicking the Display button (near top right)
    You can then expand he folder tree in the left hand pane and drag and drop.

    Images I move from one folder into another are disappearing, at first it was occurring immediately and only if I did not copy and paste the images. Today however I found out that images I had been using for days just up and vanished from their new location. A few of these images had copies in another folder that remained and the ones I couldn't find may or may not have ever had copies. I had backed up my system with time machine recently as well, so I went into the backup to retreive the lost images. When I searched and found the backup copies I got the error "the file alias cannot be opened because the original cannot be located". The crazy thing is that the images that remained on my computer did not give me the same error and opened like they should.
    In short images that I am creating, saving, and using are disapearing so epically that even time machine versions are affected when retrieval is attempted. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong without realizing it? Or perhaps other people have had similar bugs that are software related and have a solution?

    Hi Kevin,
    I understand what you tried to do but it doesn't work that way. Swapping drive names will just mess things up.
    You should be able to reconnect the files though: in the Locate Referenced Files dialog make sure you click the Show Reconnect Options button — this will give you access to all the connected drives. Locate one of the files and hit Reconnect All. Should do the trick.

  • How can I overwrite PDF files without saving in a new location?

    Hi,
    I have recently purchased Acrobat X.
    Everytime I make an edit to a pdf file, I cannot overwrite the old version. I keep getting an error message saying that another user has the document open, and am forced to save with a new name or in a new location.
    Can anyone help me to fix this? I deal with 100s of PDF files in a day and re-saving in a different location or renaming with every change is a real time-consuming hassle.
    Thanks!

    Hi inasravanim and Gilad D (try67)
    Sorry to hikack the thread....but I have the same issue.
    Windows 7, saving to network drive. If I overwrite the pdf on the desktop it does so fine. However, not on the network drive. The user has full control permissions on the network drive. So at a loss as to why this is happening. It only happens with PDF files too (as have tried other file formats with no issues).
    Don't think it is a Acrobat problem - this was happening on Acrobat X and now on Acrobat XI. But again shouldn't be a permissions issue either...??
    Any ideas?

  • How to Move My Library to a New Location

    The title is a bit misleading.  This is actually related to a previous discussion I started but never got any feedback on.
    Here is the situation:
    I have iTunes Match.
    For whatever reason, my iTunes library got hopelessly muddled and confused.  Probably user error.
    I decided to move the library to a new location (different external hard drive).
    I completely uninstalled iTunes and all Apple software from pc.  (yes, i have a mac but easier to keep this on the desktop).
    I reinstalled iTunes, but something is still there, because my library immediately showed up.  I turned off iTunes Match, updated the preferences to point to the new location and turned iTunes Match back on.
    iTunes does not "see" my new library location, and tells me that all music is only in the cloud.
    How can I make it re-scan the hard drive and recognize that the music is all there?
    The big problem this causes is that, as I add music, it's impossible to tell what is really physically there and what needs to be downloaded.
    Thanks for any suggestions or help.  Perhaps I need to uninstall in a more thorough way, if so, I welcome help with that.

    Thanks Cander.
    I've been syncing my iPod this way since I first got my 3Gen iPod a few years ago (i'm on my 4th ipod) - and I know they've made improvements to iTunes.
    Is there a better way to achieve what I wanna do with just 1 computer?
    Is there a way to manage 2 or 3 iPods on 1 computer using seperate "itl" or "xml" files for each iPod's library?
    As it is now, I still have to go to My wife's computer and "add files or folders" to her library to get the newest tracks to add to her library - and over the network, it could take a full day If I did the whole library. Instead I write down what I've added on my Mac and just go through on her computer and add those folders.
    I've read some things about holding down a "shift" or "command" key to select a library on iTunes startup... (part of my discovery on how I F-ed up my library when moving it in the first place)
    Would this be the way to achieve that?
    Can I have 3 seperate data files that manage the preferred tracks for 3 different iPods?
    Would I have to update all 3 data files or would they all stay current when I added tracks?
    EDITED - well wait...!

  • How do I move a page to a new location within iBooks Author?

    I've just started to play around with iBook Author, and I can't seem to discover how I can do something as basic as move a page to a new location within the chapter, or outside the chapter for that matter.  It won't allow me to drag and drop it, and there is no menu selection for it.  I also would like to be able to insert a new page at the current cursor location, and that doesn't work either.
    Has anyone had any luck doing either of these tasks?

    You can't. You can move entire chapters or sections but can't move individual pages because of the reflow capability. It is mentioned in the help and the FAQ I believe.

  • How to fix the Draggable element at its new location after every drag

    Hi All,
    I was trying something new with implementing the "Drag & Drop" control in UI5 .
    The whole functionality involved putting all the items in the list and ,making them draggable.
    After the user drags and drops the item to a new location , it becomes fixed at the position , until its dragged again.
    This is the following piece of code that i was working on :
    $.sap.require('sap.ui.thirdparty.jqueryui.jquery-ui-core');
      $.sap.require('sap.ui.thirdparty.jqueryui.jquery-ui-widget');
      $.sap.require('sap.ui.thirdparty.jqueryui.jquery-ui-mouse');
      $.sap.require('sap.ui.thirdparty.jqueryui.jquery-ui-draggable');
      $.sap.require('sap.ui.thirdparty.jqueryui.jquery-ui-sortable');
      $.sap.require('sap.ui.thirdparty.jqueryui.jquery-ui-droppable');
      var backlog = ["As a site visitor, I can read FAQs","As a site editor, I can maintain an FAQ section","As a site member, I can download the latest training material and methodology PDFs","As a visitor, I can download presentations, PDFs, etc. on Scrum that I can use"];
      backlog.sort();
      jQuery.sap.require("jquery.sap.strings"); //Load the plugin to use 'jQuery.sap.startsWithIgnoreCase'
    var oAdd_backlog = new sap.ui.commons.Button({text:"Add Backlog Item", tooltip:"Submit value",width:"160px"});
           var oHorizontal_Layout = new sap.ui.layout.HorizontalLayout("Layout1", {
            content: [oSearch, oAdd_backlog, oBacklog_status_filter ]
      //vertical layout
        // create a list box to show the backlog items
      //backlog list
      var backlog_list = new sap.ui.commons.ListBox("list1", {visibleItems:100, width : "60%"});
      // initialize the list
      updated_baklog_List(backlog_list);
      backlog_list.addStyleClass("list_css1");
    //drag and drop functionality
      var oOldOnAfterRender = backlog_list.onAfterRendering;
      backlog_list.onAfterRendering = function() {
      oOldOnAfterRender.apply(this);
      var $listBoxId = this.getId();
      $("#"+$listBoxId+"-list").sortable();
      //final layout
      var oVerticalLayout = new sap.ui.layout.VerticalLayout("Layout2", {
      content: [oHorizontal_Layout, backlog_list]
    Your inputs and new approaches are valuable to my research .

    You shouldn't have to do anything.
    Holdend is default and it ought to keep the value.
    I guess something else is happening which interferes.
    Are you stopping the animation?
    Starting another one ( which will effectively stop the first )?
    Or something.
    I did a very quick and dirty test changing a colour:
    <UserControl.Resources>
    <Storyboard x:Name="sb">
    <ColorAnimation
    Storyboard.TargetName="Button1BackgroundBrush"
    Storyboard.TargetProperty="Color"
    From="Red" To="Yellow" Duration="0:0:5"
    FillBehavior="HoldEnd"
    />
    </Storyboard>
    </UserControl.Resources>
    <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White">
    <Button
    Content="This is a button">
    <Button.Background>
    <SolidColorBrush x:Name="Button1BackgroundBrush" Color="Red" />
    </Button.Background>
    </Button>
    </Grid>
    </UserControl>
    Code behind
    public MainPage()
    InitializeComponent();
    this.sb.Begin();
    It stays yellow.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I get photos to show in my collections folders after moving photos to a new location?

    After exporting my main folder to a new location along with the .lrcat and .lrdata files, along with my backup files, all of my collections folders show zero images in them.  I need to somehow link these files together to get my collections back.  The pnotos are there, just not showing in the collection folders.

    Whats the simplest and most easily mainted method for storing files?  Do folks dump them into one huge file and then sort with Lr collections or do they import into smaller files AND sort with collections.
    I would like to back up the mess I have and use collections but not sure if there is an efficent way to do so.
    I believe that sometimes you are using the word "file" to mean "folder"
    The simplest and easiest way to manage files is to use the default import mechanism in Lightroom, which is to put them into folders by capture date. This takes zero effort on your part. From that point on, you NEVER move them, how simple is that? (there is one exception which I shall explain in a minute) and then you use Lightroom tools ... keywords and other metadata, to allow you to organize and search.
    Backups are accomplished by making a backup of both your catalog file and all of your photos.
    The exception to never moving your photos is when you need to move them to a new hard disk or new computer, then of course you should move them.

  • Unable to re-install Creative Suite 5.5 in new location... sort of

    I'm trying to relocate my CS5.5 (Edu license) onto an SSD for performance purposes.
    Environment: Windows 7 Ultimate, oodles of disk space, RAM...
    Approaches:
    Tried to merely re-install telling the installer to put the files in a different location (n.b. this is the installation procedure not the unpack). The installer appears to ignore this and uses the existing folders anyway
    Renamed the Adobe folders in Program files and Program Files (x86)
    Tried to reinstall again specifying the SSD disk -- same result (installer recreated c:\program files (x86)\adobe...
    Removed the Adobe directory and created a symbolic link from c:\program files (x86)\Adobe to a root-level folder on the SSD (x:\CreativeSuite)
    Ran the installer again - despite the link between the \adobe folder and \CreativeSuite, the installer created x:\CreativeSuite\Adobe (this would be equivalane to c:\program files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe...
    After a huge amount of time (1hr+), the installer returned status (-1). However, most of the products work from the new location.
    The exceptions are:
    Illustrator returns "the localized resource file for this application could not be loaded"
    Photoshop was not re-installed at the new location; rather it seems to have been "found" at the renamed location (c:\program files (86)\xAdobe\...). No sight of the 64 bit version.
    I have been able to do some upgrades, but the Update Manager will not run standalone (see below)
    What I tried:
    The reinstalls described above
    The Adobe Support manager, which tells me (twice) that I have an install pending. I don't; and the registry key they tell me I can delete to eliminate the false indication, doesn't exist. It also tells me I'm running on Vista (it's Win 7)...
    If I invoke the update manager from an individual app, it works and performs the update. If I try to update the standalone manager, I get "installer failed to initialize".
    My questions:
    If I run the Adobe cleanup utility, what do I lose (my license information, for example; my Dreamweaver site definitions?)
    Has anybody done this "relocation"?
    How would you recommend I go about doing this -- or should I just forget about it?
    Thanks.

    Sbles if you wish to adjust the install location then please run the uninstaller located in Programs and Features and then reinstall choosing your customized location.
    It sounds like you have already been moving your installation files which have likely lead to your applications no longer being functional.  Please try running the available uninstallers to attempt to remove your currently installed Adobe Creative Software.  Once this is done please run the CS Cleaner tool to help remove any remaining entries and give you the best possible chance of reinstalling successfully.  You can find details on the use of the CS Cleaner tool at CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
    Finally a quick tip on using SSDs.  If you want to obtain the maximum performance possible you will want to have both the applications and the OS installed on the SSD.  If you are installing either to a traditional hard drive you are loosing most of the performance gained from the SSD.
