New Look for Our Forums Long Overdue!

That forum doesn't get nearly as much traffic as this one does.
So that justifies this 'crosspost'.

  • New Look for the HP Support Forum - FAQ

    Welcome to the HP Community!
You may notice that we have changed our look.
We designed the new layout to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for.
While the look of the community has changed, the foundation of the community has not. All of the features you liked are still here.
Here are some of the highlights:
The community pages are less complex and easier to navigate
Buttons are now easier to find because they are brightly colored.
A new modular approach gives us greater freedom to launch improvements more quickly.
Below is a guide that walks you through the new design. We would love to have your feedback.
Where is information for new users located?
Information for new users can be found by expanding the “Quick Links” menu on the right-hand side of any community page.  Once this menu is expanded, links such as Community FAQ, 1st Time Here, Rules of Participation, and more are listed.
You may also navigate directly to the “Welcome!” area by following this link: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/First-Time-Here-Learn-How-to/bd-p/Hello

To search the community, navigate to the search box on the top-right of any community page.  Here you may type in some keywords or a question and click the Go button to see your search results.
On the search results page, you will also be able to select from more advanced options such as narrowing results by location, by author, by accepted solution, and more.
    What happened to my settings?
Click the More Resources drop down menu on the right-hand side of any community page.  Once this menu is expanded, click User Settings to access your personal settings.
In this area you can set a signature to use in the community which will be automatically applied to all of your posts, change your avatar, and more.
How do I see my profile?
To access your profile, please click the Quick Links drop down menu on the right-hand side of any community page.  Once this menu is expanded, click the Profile link.  Alternately, you may also click your username in the top-right My Community area of any community page to access your profile.
    What is the Community Alert?
Occasionally we have some important information about the community to share with all of our community members.
Whenever we have important information to convey, the orange Community Alert link will become visible to all users at the top of every community page.  Please click this link when it’s available to read our update.
How do I upload a picture to the HP Consumer Support Community?
To upload a picture to the community, navigate to the Upload menu on the right-hand side of any community page and select Image Gallery:
On the Image Upload page, you can click the Browse button to choose a file to upload.
Where can I find my Private Messages?

Alternately, you can select the “Messages” options in the Quick Links menu on the right side of any community page.
What happened to the “Send this user a private message” link?  I can’t find it.
To send a user a private message, navigate to the right-hand side of the user’s profile.  The “Send this user a private message” link is located in the Contact area below the My Community section.
You will also find options to add a community member to your list of friends, or ignore a community member in the Contact area of their profile.

You can find the community’s Top Contributors, Top Kudos posts, and more in the Discussion Boards in the area at the bottom of the community homepage.
To see the Top Contributors or Top Kudos Posts for a specific category, navigate the bottom of any category page after selecting a category link on the community homepage.
How do I find my Subscriptions & Bookmarks?
You can navigate to your subscriptions and bookmarks by clicking the More Resources dropdown box on the right side of any community page and selecting My Subscriptions.
Doing so will take you to the Subscriptions & Bookmarks area of your User Settings.
What is the Me Too button?

    Hi,
    Try the following
First of all, see if you can uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
If this completes, restart the PC.
Next download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page.

After the installation, restart the PC again.

  • New Look For the HP Support Forum!

On December 1st, we will launch a new layout for the community. The new layout will not change the underlying functionality of the community. All of the boards and features that you use will remain unchanged. The new layout was specifically created to incorporate community feedback about the navigation and display.
Here are some of the highlights:
The community pages are less complex and easier to navigate
Buttons are now easier to find because they are brightly colored.
A new modular approach gives us greater freedom to launch improvements more quickly.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of the updated community pages.
New, expandable category menus reduce home page clutter and give us more room to add information to assist and showcase the members of the HP Consumer Support community:
The Best of the Community blog is now located in an expandable menu the top of every community page:
Here is an FAQ thread that will guide you through many actions that have been slightly tweaked; processes like editing your user information and uploading images has been simplified.
There will also be a Temporary Feedback board created for you to post feedback about the layout. The layout change is the first step in an ongoing process to improve the community. We hope you enjoy the new layout and encourage your feedback.

  • New look for Arch website?

Just noticed the Arch site has a new look, and the title graphic is now a link
Nice work!  Still nice and clean, just like Arch.
My only (admittedly small) gripe is that it looks quite blue on my monitor here at work.
I think I prefer the #f9f9f9 background of the forums to the new #eeeeff, but otherwise -- LOVE IT!

Is there a reason package search box is so big?  Header needs same padding as body on L and R, logo too small, looks like a wiki page.
Meh old one was perfect IMO
While I agree the old one was fine; MANY MANY people just couldn't/wouldn't see it.  You could direct them to the main page and say search for a package there and WAYYYY to many ppl would come back and say "I can't find it"
Just my guess as to the reason for different size/bg color of the search box

  • New look for site; please comment

    Hi there.
    My question concerns (new look)
    http://www.sincro.co.za/new-test.php
    and
    http://www.sincro.co.za
I have changed the background from white to gray and also
    changed the
    colour of the text.
My wife says the new look is very dull. Ignore the menu and
    other graphics,
but just teel me what you think about the general look &
    feel. You are
    welcome to make suggestions.
    Regards,

    Hello there,
Now, I know it's not always easy accepting peoples feedback
but the thing you must remember is that there must be a reason for
saying it - it's also a lot to personal preference.
Personaly, I wouldn't use the grey, stick with bold colors,
for example, black or white. The menu doesn't really go with any
other colors on the page - try to stick with different shades of
the same color or perhaps similar colors. One thing which I really
am not very convinced with is the gradients in the menu (when
open), they make it look very amaturish. Also, try to combine the
three images at the top of the page.
I'd be more than willing to help you in whatever way (graphic
    editing, etc).
    All the best,
    Kristopher (UK).

  • Looking for black, extra long cable.

Any recommendations on an extra long black charging/sync cable for iPads? Found one but it does not actually charge. Desperately looking for a source to buy in quantity. Any recommendations welcome.

If you're only looking for a longer charging cord, have you considered just buying an extenstion cord? Obviously, that won't work if you're connecting it to a computer but should do fine if you're using the power adapter.

  • New Additions for the forum please

The Nokia forum, of course, is a great place for any mobile user alike. It is a knowledge base. But I feel that this forum needs a few more additions. They are...
    1. A section to discuss operator related stuff
    2. A section for making, exchanging and about themes (Just like applications, images etc. )
    3. Possibility to add polls (it'll be fun, but Nokia can also collect information for their future products etc. ).

    Sorry guys,
it's probably not the best place to ask that, but i'm lost. I'm looking for the Weblogic integration forum and i've just found an archived one. May be there is no activ one? Or Oracle is not interested in supported products they haven't developed?

  • New Look for Trophy Case

You appear to be one of the few lucky one then. I am part of a Nike running forum where you can challenge other nike+ users and a large majority of the members on the forum have had issues with the site.
I'd rather the site work than look aesthetically appealing. In my opinion Nike has bigger fish to fry. If the site has glitches then fix them first.
Just because it is working for you right now doesn't mean it will later. Some have had no problems the first week only to suffer some of the same issues many others are facing the following week.

  • New Uses For Our Current Dyno Thermocouple DAQ System

    Hello,
Currently we are using this setup to collect data in our high temperature dyno.
    SCXI-1001 Chassis
    4 - SCXI-1120 -> SCXI 1320 units
    8 - SCXI-1102 -> SCXI 1303 units
    feeding into a PCI-MIO-16E-4 (PCI-6040E) DAQ system.
Also available are a SCXI-1000DC chassis, TC and BNC 2095 terminal blocks, and SXCI-1104 multiplexers.
The sensors we are looking to use have a 4-wire connection consisting of V(excitation),Common Ground, V(output), and V(offset). I would like to know if there is a way we can use the current equipment we have available to provide the 5v excitation source needed, as well as collect the V(output). Any help regarding the appropriate setup or wiring would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
    -Jason McBride

    Hi BigChief,
If you're providing an external excitation voltage to your sensors, you should be able to use either the SCXI-1102 or SCXI-1120 module, with their respective terminal block, to perform voltage measurement (provided the signal is within the module's input range). You can wire V(output) and Common ground as input to one of the channels on the terminal block. If the V(offset) is used for zeroing the measurement, you can wire that into a second channel, take the measurement, and subtract that value programmatically. If you're setting up a virtual or global channel, select the measurement type as "voltage" instead of "temperature".
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Lesley Y.

  • News feed for this forum

    Hi
As I alluded to in my preceding post, the only newsfeed I can
find for the flex forums here is
"macromedia.flex.general_discussion", which points to the Flex 1.5
    General Discussion forum.
Where's the newsfeed for the Flex 2.0 forum?
    Cheers.
    Adam

Cheers, yes, I know that. As per my original post (which
might not have been clear, sorry), these are the groups presented
    by the newsfeed:
    macromedia.flex.flex_builder
    macromedia.flex.general_discussion
    macromedia.flex.pricing_licensing
    macromedia.flex.upgrade_migration
(Do you see a different list than that?)
    And the "macromedia.flex.general_discussion" news group
points to the "Flex 1.5 General Discussion" web forum.
So. Back to what I asked...
"Where's the newsfeed for the Flex 2.0 forum?"

  • I acquired a new board for our SCXI chassis. T

he new board is SCXI-1531. I found a library VI which allows me to look at one channel at a time. Is there an example VI available on the SCXI-1531 to acquire up to 8 channels input simultaneously? I would eventually like to vary the number of channels.

he new board is SCXI-1531. I found a library VI which allows me to look at one channel at a time. Is there an example VI available on the SCXI-1531 to acquire up to 8 channels input simultaneously? I would eventually like to vary the number of channels. The example titled SCXI-1531 Frequency.vi is a good example that allows measurement and processing of a variable number of channels. To read more than one channel, modify the last section of the SCXI string to "0:2" to read channels 0 through 2 for example. Or use 1, 4 to read channels one and four.
If you are new to SCXI strings, check out this KB entry: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/6fc83b7ac9aca5788625615b00823d65?OpenDocument
Also, to make the vi more flexible for different numbers of channels, use For Loops with auto indexing enabled. Then you can process each channel's data separately without needing to know the exact number of channels beforehand. This is also demonstrated in the attached example.
