New Lumia 710

I just bought the Lumia 710 for my wife. She is not a power user. Makes calls, text to the kids some internet email etc. I took this device for the day to see how it world work for me in my world so I gave her my HTC HD7 to use for this one day. For an entry level device it's outstanding. The sound quality is good the phone quality is good. It's fast and very smooth I was very impressed with this device. Except for the screen size it blows the HTC HD7 out of the water. If Nokia ever gets something like the 900 on T-MO I would buy it in a heart beat but sadly they sank the good stuff on AT&T too bad. This week I wont be buying my second Nokia device because of that I'm a big screen guy.. Anyway the Lumia 710 is pretty nice for an entry level device but not as a power user...

I just got a Nokia Lumia 710 from Rogers here in Canada....I am faced with the same thing, the airplane mode does not seem to wanna turn off, I've done everything, reset the phone both soft and hard (using the multiple hold key method), removed the battery checked the SIM is inserted correctly, same thing is happening.
Now...when I remove the SIM card and boot the phone, go into the settings, I can toggle airplane mode switch to OFF but the status still reads ON...hence same thing is happening, it does not want to toggle like it should!
I should mention when the phone is booting without any SIM card inside, it'll bring up a message to notify me the user that there's no SIM in the phone so the hardware reports and the software reports the same message as in there's no SIM, which is good.
Also...if I turn of the wi-fi (which world great), then go to airplane mode (which reads ON permanently) and slide it to the off position, wi-fi turns right back on...so this means the software turns on just the wi-fi radio and not the cellular antenna...so there's definately a fault some where, not sure if it's the OS or the phone but since I have another windows phone 7 device (Dell Venue Pro), I think this is a Nokia issue....gonna try to seek warranty replalcement / repair now.
Grrrr, sucks I cannot move to Lumia 710 at this time, weird bug happening on day 1 with the device!!

Good news! We have brought forward the software update schedule for our Nokia Lumia 710, and have begun rolling out the latest update 1600.3015.8107.12070 to India and Singapore. We will add more countries and variants to the rollout based on market requests.
The new Lumia 710 update brings the following enhancements:
• Smoother device performance (when ending a call) as well as
• other minor performance and usability improvements
As soon as the update is available for you, your phone will display a notification on your Homescreen or you can check for available updates manually by going to Settings > phone update. To update your phone, please follow those 4 steps:

Well La Dee Dah Yvonne . . . I got news for you . . . 3 different nokia employess at 3 different times and days told me that they have no idea when a new update will be out. Infact one of them went so far as to tell me to sell of my phone and buy a new one if i'm not happy with it and guess what . . . Thats EXACTLY what i did. I had 2 Nokia Lumia 710's. A black one for myself and a white one for my wife. Well so taking your Nokia Employees enlightened advice I went and bought a black Samsung Galaxy S II for myself and a white one for my wife . . . And trust me when i say this but i'm going to go around telling anyone who cares to listen how Nokia cheated a custome who's been loyal to them for the last 22 YEARS. Nokia Lumia 710 blank tile space

I just recently bought a new Lumia 710. Earlier the homescreen was filled with tiles. But suddenly I find there is a gap of one tile space in the second row (by the side of tile showing messaging). Is it possible to fill this gap space? Any quick assistance would be helpful.

Does any application open when you TAP on the Blank tile ? Most probably it will ( provided you have not Un-Pinned that application) . Once you know for which application it was for..just Long Press on the blank tile and 'Unpin' from the Home screen. Now, go to the list of applications by swiping Left on the Home screen. Select that application and Long Press on it..Select 'Pin to Start' .. You may then drag it to the blank space if it gets placed at other location on the Home screen.....

Lumia 710 video recording

Just got my new Lumia 710 today. My last phone was a WP 6.5. The interface is very different.
I tried video recording on the Lumia. I do not get any(or faint) sound recording during video recording. Can I confirm there is a mic at the rear of the phone? There is a tiny hole below the LED, could that be a mic? If I speak in front of the phone, while video recording, I could hear myself clearly. It seems the mic at the front of the phone is the active mic for sound recording. But this does not make sense as your subject is in front of the camera.
Does any Lumia 710 owners face the same situation?

I'm experiencing the same problem (1) with my Lumia 800. It started recently and does not always occur.

No batteries for Nokia Lumia 710?

I am in Perth, Western Australia and I am one unhappy customer
Last Friday I went to Battery World to get a spare battery for my new Nokia Lumia 710 as I'm travelling overseas.
They don't have them. I phoned JB HIFI as I bought the phone from them. They don't have them. On Saturday I phoned Nokia Care. They said they had a shop at Morley (quite a distance from me).They also said go to JB HIFI (I told them they don’t have batteries), **bleep** Smith, Harvey Norman or Telechoice. I went to each of these, they don’t have them and never have, nor did they give any indication that they ever would have them.
I went to the Telstra Shop. The chap kindly looked up the address for Nokia Customer Care here in Morley, Perth, Australia – he commented that I could not phone them because their phone number was no longer on the website. Therefore there was no way of my checking that they had a battery before I went there. I drove quite a distance to Morley. When I eventually found the business I was greeted with Business Hours 09:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday.
When I returned home I phoned Nokia Customer Care. I told them I had driven to the business and it was shut and it would have been nice to have been told that before I drove there. They told me that’s quite right they are not open on Saturdays. I was once again told to go to JB HIFI, **bleep** Smith, Harvey Norman, Telechoice. I told them they had already told me that and I had already established and told Nokia Customer Care that they did not have batteries and never had them.
I was told they would send through a query (?to God) and I would receive an SMS in 24-48 business hours as to whether there was a battery available at Nokia Customer Care. Today I received a voice mail telling me that there are no batteries available at Nokia Customer Care at Morley. Once again I am told to go to JB HIFI, **bleep** Smith, Harvey Norman, Telechoice.
I feel like I have been sold a phone for which there are no batteries. With every other mobile phone I have owned I have always had a spare battery, especially when travelling overseas. No wonder it was “cheap”.
I am now faced with travelling overseas with a phone for which there is no possibility of purchasing a spare battery.
I sincerely hope that no-one is buying these phones to run their business with.
I am extremely disappointed and I would advise that nobody purchases this product. Which is a shame since I was happy with the product. It simply never occurred to me that there were no replacement batteries for this product. If I had known that I would not have purchased it.

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time finding an additional battery for your Lumia 710. The Lumia 710 uses the BP-3L battery which should be available through any Nokia Care Point. A list of Nokia Care Points in Perth can be found here. If the battery is not available they should be able to order one for you.
Also if you search for 'Nokia Lumia 710 Battery BP-3L' on the web you will find a number of sources within Australia which will be able to provide you with this battery model. Make sure though you buy an original Nokia battery.

My Nokia Lumia 710 stopped working during updating...

My Nokia Lumia 710 was connected to my Pc by cable and was being updated. As the updating was going on, probably during the 7th or 8th step, it hanged and stopped responding. The updating could not complete. The worst is that the phone can no longer be powered off except when you remove the battery and after replacing the battery, it cannot boot, except to draw a diagram of phone connected to a PC. That was the stage in the updating process when it stopped working.
Please, advice me on what to do becasuse the phone is of no longer use to me. I bought it in December 2012 and it got spoilt in April 2013. I have taken to Nokia Care centre around me. but the price they said they will use to repair it is equivalent to buying a new one. Please help.

I can let you know this is not a known issue with the Windows ecosystem as the Lumia range of devices, the hardware itself maybe different specification but the ecosystem is the same. Also I myself have 710 and have never had this issue and am based in the UK so the statement from your network provider is false. Who is your network provider?
What I recommend you do is take your device to your nearest Nokia care point to have the device inspected. You can look at the link below for the nearest one:

Also did you ask your network provider for a new sim? Was the phone purchased off line or part of a contract?
Finally are you 100% sure your data plan is active? Also go into settings and mobile network and make sure data connection is on and highest speed is set to 3G

Hi. I have a never ending issue with my nokia lumia 710 i need a activation code, ive contacted the support centre in South Africa (where i am situated) with a result of them telling me they will contact me with the code but as expected im not getting a response,The lady helping me working for nokia even had the nerve to get angry with me for following up on the situation.And cant give me any information apart from they will contact me with a code, they cant even tell me more or less how long it will take. this is so frustrating and i am regreting purchasing a nokia as it is rendered useless. In rare cases, a new activation code is required to complete the Microsoft account sign-in process. In your case, does it mean you have successfully set up a Microsoft account yet you're still asked to put the code? Have you checked the resolution given by @Abi99? Lumia 710 possessed

I bought a lumia 710 in Feb. of this year for my husband, I was told it was an easy phone to use , and the best . Well, 10 months later, we have had the phone replaced, a new sim card and a master reset and are still ready to hit this phone with a hammer. First it would mysteriously delete all the contacts in the phone and shut off, and do this a couple times per day, when we complained , they sent us a new phone, it continued this a couple more times, then the phone linked to his email account so he could check emails, deleted all of his saved emails , ones that were sentimental to him , had passwords, etc. we unlinked it. The phone has continued to send emails to contacts in his recent list, even emails to himself! We had the sim card replaced before the phantom sending . Now the phone is sending random text messages to his work H R dept, and has sent them spam emails for **bleep** enlargement, etc. Most recently, he sent me a email from work telling me how busy his night had been and loving sentiment. At the bottom of the email was a sentence telling me something very unkind. When I replied to it, he was confused as to what I was talking about and called and I explained why I was upset, he didnt send that! We looked on his phone at his message and his message stopped at the nice stuff and ended with a smiley face, which was common for him to send me, no unkind sentences at all! Tell me Nokia how does a phone suddenly change text messages while they are in cyber space????? Not to mention that the phone has the worst service, stand in a room with everyone around you streaming videos and yours only says emergency calls only! When we went to our provider, they offered no assistance other than shut off the phone , let us charge you for a new phone. HELP!!

Are you connecting to your home Wi-Fi? Try to reset your router and then check again. You can also soft reset your phone by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. Make sure your wifi is visible.

Lumia 710 update to WP 7.8

I am Wessam Moffed from Egypt. I knew lately that there is an update available for my phone ( nokia lumia 710 ) to the new version of windows phone 7.8 . but my phone doesn't show any signs pf updates and when I connected to zune software on my PC it told me also that my phone is up to date while my phone now is on the old 7.5 version of windows phone. Like with all windows phone updates not all countries and phones get it at the same time. The update is delivered in a staggered roll out so you will get it eventually.
Unfortunately it's not possible to say when a specific phone in a specific country will get the update. All you can do is wait and keep checking.
If you really want the update now you should take your phone to a Nokia care point as they may be able to update you instantly.

Totally sure, it's a Microsoft limitation, not a Nokia issue. It's unknown if 3rd party or bluetooth keyboards can be used with WP7.8 (the 710's upcoming update) or the new WP8 OS (that will be on new models).
Personally I had no issues using the keyboard in portrait mode on the 710 due to the excellent word prediction. & correction. If you are struggling you may want to consider trading in your phone for a larger model like the Lumia 900 or the upcoming WP8 models the 820 & 920.

Lumia 710 . wifi - freezing after sleep / doesn't ...

So my lumia 710 with the latest software has the following problem...
If my wifi is stopped and I'm trying to start it, it will tell me after few seconds 'no networks found' .
If I turn off the phone with turned on WIFI and then if I turn the phone on, it will find my wifi network, but if I turn wifi off it won't be able to find any networks until a new restart.
And the last case; If the phone goes into sleep while wifi was on , wifi section will get frozen until I remove the battery to force its restart.
Please, is this a software or a hardware problem? Is there a fix? Thank you.

Does this occur with any wi-fi network or just with your wi-fi network?
Did you restore the iPhone from the iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from the iPhone's backup?
If the former, you placed the iPhone right back where it was. If the latter, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

Proximity Sensor problem after update. Lumia 710

Hi,
Yesterday i received the update notification to Tango through Zune. After perform the update, I noticed that when making or receiving calls, the screen immediately turned off and is not turned on again until the other person hung up.
I did the tests in the diagnostic menu, and the proximity sensor always shows "detected".

I did a rollback to the previous version and the problem was solved, but went update to Tango again, the problem reappears. I notice that problem appears just after the firmware update from Nokia.

Lumia 710 Can't find photos from last month

I have a Nokia Lumia 710 and took pictures in the month of March. On April 1st, a new tile started for April 2012, but my photos for March are no where to be found.
Some of the photos that I took in March, I assigned as the photo for contact photos and are still assigned as their photos, so it seems like they might still be in the phone some where, but where they went, I don't know.
I didn't delete them, I can tell you that much.

When you use a photo as a contact, it makes a copy, if you delete the photo at a later stage the contact image will remain.
I am not sure how they would have deleted them.
Are they still in your camera roll?
If you got pictures tile and then flick to sort by date, it has a history of your photos sorted by month.
Also If you have connected to Zune recently then they may have synced over, worth a check.
