New Mac... again.

O.k. guys I am sorry to do this to you again.
But....
I too am about to upgrade (you may have seen that my brother Christian is about to upgrade too, but I am not as snazz as him).
My questions are:
1. I am a demanding Logic user (well not that demanding at the moment because I currently have a Dual 1.25 G4) and I want to upgrade to a Mac Pro.
So, with my limited budget do I get a Quad Core with 8Gig of RAM (£3585)? Or an 8 Core with 4Gig of RAM (£3396)? As you can see the 8 core is cheaper... and, I can always upgrade the RAM later... HMMmmmm.
2. I curretly use an M-Audio Fireire 410 (again my statement about being a "demanding" Logic user seems questionable) and want to upgrade to either a Motu 828 mk2 or possibly an RME Fireface. I am planing on using the Audio Interfaces with a patch bay, but maybe a Mackie Onyx wth Firewire (anyone out there used one of these? how does it compare to say the 828?) instead. I don't record lots of stuff at once but have a bit of outboard and some dusty old vintage keyboards (my Casiotone (yes in bold) collection... again less than "demanding").
I record a lot of Bass guitar so I guess something reasonable preamps would be good. What would you reccomend? ... HMMmmmm again.
3. I am going to want a second monitor Apple 20" or Dell 20"?
So to recap:
1. Quad Core with 8 Gig at £3585 or 8 Core with 4 Gig at £3396?
2. 828 mk2 or RME Fireface with patchbay, or Mackie Onyx 1620 with Firewire?
3. 20" Apple or Dell monitor.

Given that currently Logic can't use 8 processors or 8GB of RAM (who knows what the future holds), I'd say get the Quad core with 4GB RAM. But as that's what I bought, I would wouldn't I?
Use the cash you save to get 30 inch screens. 2 Apple 30 inch screens in Logic is an ***-kicking setup.

I can't copy my old iPhoto library from a external HD to my new mac?

Hi. I just bought a new mac and want to have all my old iphoto pictures from my old mac into my new iPhoto library. I've tried to copy the old iPhoto library into a external HD(works fine), but the problem is that I can't copy it out from the external HD an in to my new mac again. It just say that it doesn't work because it doesnt have enough storage.
I don't get why it would say that, because the old iPhoto library is 89.55 GB and I haven't used any memory at all on my new macbook pro, and my old macbook pro has memory enough to have the iPhoto library on it (the mac is 5 years old and has almost a full memory), so why can't my new macs memory manage the iPhoto library when my old mac can? It doesn't make sense at all.
I've googled it, and it says everywhere that it should work by simply copy to external HD and move over the library from there and into the pictures folder, but this definitely doesn't work for me.
I hope that some please can help me with this, I don't know what do to.

Startup Disk issue in new Mac Air. Replaced with another new mac, then again. MS Excel culprit?

Hey guys, I bought a macbook Air 11’ 4GB 128GB (Mid-2011(after selling my 13” macbook pro) and the problems seem to be never ending.
My primary work involves using MS Excel so I installed a licensed version of Office for Mac 2011 and started using excel on my new mac machine. Within few minutes I got a message pop-up on screen “YOUR MAC OS STARTUP DISK HAS NO MORE SPACE AVAILABLE FOR APPLICATION MEMORY”.
I checked the size of storage and there was just 5 GBs worth space left despite the fact that there was not a single photo, music, video on the new mac apart from a few MBs of excel files. I took it to the vendor (APPLE PREMIUM RESELLER) who after re-installing lion returned it to me and the same issue again popped up. Finally, they diagnosed an SSD problem and after a week of waiting, I was given a brand new shiny macbook air MC969 (same model).
I used the new one and again while using excel, the same issue has come up. I’m really fed up of this stupid error bcoz I was using the same OFFICE FOR MAC suite on my macbook pro and never suffered any such problem. I have also twice thrice completed all the steps I was told to do (like repair disk perm. Emptying the cache etc. )
Since India doesn’t have any Apple owned stores but only Premium Resellers whose replacement etc policies are not governed by Apple.
They do not even refund the money but have given an option of diagnosing the machine and replacing the problematic part.
I googled the web and found no such issued with EXCEL. Strangely, other apps in the office suite seem to work well without any issues.
I have attached the screenshots that how while using excel, within a couple of minutes, mac starts to heat up, then storage decreases and finally the error where mac becomes dead slow.
Please help me to determine where the cause lies.

The Excel files size range between 29KB to 60KB.

If you bought them on your iPad then you will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to the Tones part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPhone - ringtones are a one-time only download, so you won't be able to redownload them directly on your phone.

You will just need to sign in to the match service under the store section at the top tool bar. You might need to authorize your apple id as well to work with the new computer.
But the service can be transferred from authorized computer to authorized computer no problem.

My new Mac doesn't recognize my iTunes Match account, asks me to register and pay again

I think the title says it all.
I used to have a Mac laptop, using the paid service iTunes Match for less than a year.
My computer broke down, so I bought a new Mac,
when I log in with my account at the iTunes,
it says that I have to pay and register for an iTunes Match account again.
It's like it doesn't remember that I already have one.

You need to log in to the iTunes Store with the exact same Apple ID you used to purchase the service.

Have you tried clicking on the lock to see it it will then ask for a passwored. Otherwise, try reblooting.

Jonkpirateboy did you migrate/transfer/copy your CS5.5 application to this new Mac?
If so then please utilize the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. Copy them from your old computer. Copy them from the
back up of your old computer.
Are you logged on under the same Apple ID that you used
to make the purchses? What are you trying to download?
Not all types of media can be downloaded in all locations.

New Mac Mini - How do i reinstall my copy of Mountain LIon from App Store?

I just bought a new Mac Mini running Mountain Lion. I want to clone an older system drive that had been running Snow Leopard onto my new Mini and then upgrade to Mountain Lion (I tried Migration Assistant first, but it didn't work correctly and I don't want to mess with it again).
My question: once I have a working Snow Leopard install on my Mini, is it possible to upgrade back to the Mountain Lion OS it came with without paying for a new copy? How do I do that?

It isn't just the hard drive - there is firmware built in that will prevent you from booting wih Snow Leopard. If you do a search here, you'll find many threads trying to install an earlier OS than what the machine came with all with the same answer (unless the Mac was built right around the time of a new OS being introduced, then it is possible to be booted from both OS's). In this case, you'd be trying to go backwards by 2 versions. Also see here:

And yes, if you use internet recovery and first erase the drive (available in Disk Utility within the recovery partition) and then reinstall the OS, it'll reinstall the OS on a blank drive and you can start over. If the machine is new, then Command + R during restart should automatically boot into internet recovery (connecting you to Apple's servers by showing a spinning globe while connecting); if the machine is a bit older, then Command + Option + R will boot into internet recovery.

New Mac... again.
