New Mac Book and Photoshop Elements

My daughter just bought a new MacBook (Mac OS X 10.5.4 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM) and tried to install my Photoshop Elements software onto it. My Photoshop is kind of old (Elements 2.0), but I use it on my Mac all the time with no problems. But when she installed it, it didn't work right. When she opens it, it goes through it's usual start up stuff, then she gets a window that says "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit." What does this mean? Is there anything I can do to help her use this software?
TIA,
Sue

Photoshop Elements 2 is not compatible with Leopard. Versions 3 and up will work.

I have just bought a new mac book, and I want to start from scratch by syncing the content of my iPhone, but each time I try it wants to delete everything on the iPhone and replace by what's on the new iTunes library, i.e. nothing! can I do the reverse, i.e. importing all my iphone's stuff on the new computer?

You need to copy some files and your iTunes folder to the new computer. Do you have a backup of your old computer (or still have the old computer?) Was the old computer a Mac or PC?

  • How can I sync my Iphone to a new iTunes account on a new Mac Book as no longer have the old Mac Book and im unable to use the same Apple ID, I want to sync music to my Iphone from my new Mac Book, new Mac Book and iphone in same Apple ID???

Basically, my iphone has been in the same apple ID as my dads iphone and mac book, so my iphone has always been synced to his macbook. I bought myself a mac book the other day and want to sync my iphone to it. However i have obviously put my mac book in a different apple id as i know pay for things i download myself, how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?  ive now put my iphone into my new apple id thinking this might help? ive also tried clicking 'manually manage music and video' but this doesnt seem to work, it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
    HELPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

" how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?"
You cannot.  Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

  • Mac mini and photoshop elements 4

hello, i'm using a mac mini intel solo with photoshop elements 4 and it is unbearable!!!
has anybody else here experienced extremely slow reactions with this set up?
i think it may just be a memory issue, i have the standard 512mb and the page outs go through the roof in no time at all!
    any help would be appreciated
    ta
    roon

Keep in mind, that PhotoShop Elements has not been re-written by Adobe to run natively on an Intel-base Mac. Because PSE is running in emulation with Apple's "Rosetta" technology, you can expect slow performance no matter how much RAM you have. Of course, you can never have too much RAM! But you can't expect more RAM to solve all the issues.

  • My buddy tried to help me install windows 8 on my new mac book and all he did was put the disc in and now it will not come out and my mac book will not turn off

I cannot get the windows 8 disc out of my mac book pro

    Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • I have a new Mac book and am getting emails from zip line about cloud.  I thought I have iCloud with Apple?

What is zip cloud?  I have a Mac Book from last June and get emails from zip cloud, I thought I have iCloud with my Mac.
    Do I need zip cloud?

    Do I need zip cloud?
No. It's spam. If you installed "ZipCloud," see below.
To remove ZipCloud, start by backing up all data (not with ZipCloud itself, of course.)
Quit the application, if it's running, and drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.jdibackup.ZipCloud.autostart.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Trash.
In the same folder, there may also be a file named
               com.jdibackup.ZipCloud.notify.plist
Move that to the Trash as well.
Log out or restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • New Mac Mini and Photoshop CS3

I'm thinking of getting a new 2.0 GHz Mac Mini but am wondering if the built-in Intel GMA 950 graphics processor has enough horsepower for moderate-duty Photoshop CS3 work (all photo editing) using a Dell 24" Ultasharp widescreen LCD monitor? All the specs I read seem to suggest that the 950 can handle what I'm asking, but I'd like to hear from somebody who is doing CS3 work on a Mini with a 24" LCD monitor before taking the plunge.
    Thanks.

It does indeed mean that if you put 4Gb RAM in a Core 2 Duo mini it will only be able to see 3Gb of it. There is, however, no real downside or risk in fitting 3Gb RAM into the system even though Apple only specs it up to 2Gb. The only 'issue' is that to fit 3Gb, you would need unmatched RAM modules (1 1Gb and 1 2Gb stick) which means you loose the optimum performance of matches pairs of RAM. However, the loss of performance from that would generally be exceeded by the gain in performance from the additional 1Gb RAM available to MacOS.
Upgrading RAM yourself is not easy, but it is certainly not hard for someone with a little experience of working inside computers and who can do such work with care. You need a couple of thin putty knives (or pastry knives if you are more at home in the kitchen than garden) to get the case open, and some disassembly is required, but it isn't a difficult task. If you look down the page at http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/mac_mini/intel you'll see links for a video of what's entailed.

  • Just bought the new mac book and iweb isn't on it but ilife is how can i get iWeb?

I just bought the new macbook and it has garage band, imovie, iphoto but doesnt have iweb. How can i get it now?

iWeb and iDVD are no longer. If you have a DVD with iLife then you can install iWeb from that DVD. There are other applications like iWeb such as RapidWeaver and SandVox. Otherwise, you will need to purchase an iLife boxed set from a third-party vendor such as amazon.com.

  • Transfer of IPOD Tunes to New Mac Book

Prior to purchasing a new Mac Book and IPOD (80 Gig), I ripped my entire CD collection using ITunes to my old PC. Connecting my new IPOD to the PC, I then sync'd the entire ITunes Library to the IPOD. Upon purchase of the MacBook, I attempted to "sycn" from the IPOD to the MacBook but received a message stating that in order to sync, my IPOD would have all its current tunes deleted. All the ripped files were extracted from legitimate CDs but Mac, I believe, assumes the library on the IPOD is not legitimate. Could someone offer a suggestion on how I can transfer the entire contents of my IPOD to my MAC Book? I am a "tecno peasant" so simple explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I want to known if i can buy a new mac book using my old one?

  • New Mac: Why are CC and Photoshop Elements not working when Lightroom and Reader are fine

Last week I changed computers (swapping an old Mac for a 13-in MacBook Pro Retina running OSX Yosemite 10.10.3. I copied all my data over to the new machine using Migration Assistant.
All programs work fine (including my copy of Lightroom 3 and Reader XI). But my CC and Photoshop Elements 10 do not. I have tried uninstalling both, but whenever I try to reinstall PE10 from its disk or download it just stops almost at the end. I then I get an "initiation failed" message, along with a request to download the now defunct "Support Advisor" app!
I cannot download Adobe Application Manager, or the CC desktop app either - for the former I get an "initiation failed" message, along with the "download Support Advisor" app" message again! For the latter I get a message saying "Adobe Creative Cloud Is Needed to Resolve this problem - however it is missing or damaged." Then I get a message and a link to download Creative Cloud. Then when I've downloaded it and I click on the installer... it runs for a bit and then I get the message again: "Adobe Creative Cloud Is Needed to Resolve this problem - however it is missing or damaged." And I get a prompt and link to download the CC app. Guess what happens next? And so it goes on. And on and on, in a tedious circle.
This is incredibly annoying and frustrating as I have work to do! Anyone have any ideas what's happening?
    Cheers
    K

do not use migration to install adobe programs.
you should uninstall and clean whatever you've done, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
then dl the cc desktop app to your new computer and use it to install your adobe cc programs, Download Adobe Creative Cloud apps | Free Adobe CC trial
if you have non-subscription adobe programs, use the installation files for them:

Migrating, transferring or copying is DEMANDING trouble, not just asking for it.
