New Mac migration - CC 2014

Has anyone used the Mac migration assistant to flawlessly move CC 2014 apps to a new Mac?
I've read some older threads where people ran into problems and had to completely re-install CC. I ordered a new iMac and am just wondering the best way to set it up. I could start from scratch, but I have so many other files, apps, system settings that I'd rather take my chances with the migration assistant. Or is there a way to use the migration assistant but leave out Adobe apps?

I solved it. i just moved all the adobe application folders into the wastebasket. started the creative cloud application download again. signed up my old mac from the creative cloud by using the cc app. then started the applications download again and it worked.

I bought a new Mac, had the Apple guys migrate my data and apps to it. Now CS4 doesn't work.
I researched a bit and found that I SHOULD have deactivated and uninstalled CS4 from my old Mac. I've now done that.
But do I have to uninstall CS4 files from my new Mac now--and reinstall? Will that work?

My situation is a little different. I am hoping you can help me with it. I hope I am not violating any protocols by asking you specifically? A year ago I reinstalled my Mac's operating system. My CS4 is on my computer under "Previous System." I am unable to open it from there and I do not want to attempt migrating it for reasons noted above. I did try to reinstall it as you suggested to hbrady67 by dowloading from CS4 products with my serial number but I got this message: "Upgrade Check We looked in the default location for qualifying products installed on the machine, but none were found. You may verify upgrade eligibility now by completing the fields to the right. 1) Select a product you already own. 2) Enter a serial number for this product. CS4 wasn't in the list of selections. I found the solution to this problem. I was able to download the trial version of what I have and enter the serial number from there. However, it still asked for a serial number from previous software: "your setup is for an upgrade version of Adobe Creative Suite 4." (I entered the serial number that I have for CS2. Help with purchasing new Mac Book Pro- 2014 release vs. 2013?

OK, so my 15" 2008 Mac Book Pro is on its last gasp--didn't help when I dropped it while open (I can now see into its innards though it's still working...sort of).
I'm not a technophile (mainly use my laptop for writing--my profession--and eBay business) so my sister told me to make sure that I had at least 8 GB and a fast processing speed. Retina display not necessary (her graphic artists friends hate it apparently) so that would lower the price; however it seems that there are two releases: Oct 2013 and July 2014. Read up on the latest release but not sure how much is necessary for to have...or care about.
Can you all weigh in and tell me (a) how important it is to have "the latest and greatest" and (b) how necessary is Retina display and (c) which would YOU purchase if you had my budget constraints. Thanks!

Hmm... I'm not really sure where you found a July 2014 release without a retina display. I think it might be the old version because that laptop was last updated in 2012 (to my understanding. Also, your sister is kind of wrong, if you want a computer that will work well for everyday things, 4gb of ram is just fine. I have a three year old MacBook Air with 4gb of ram and do things in Photoshop, Illustrator, Pixelmator, FCP, etc. all the time running OS X Yosemite and it runs like brand new. However, if you want to future proof it, you might want 8gb so it can always run the latest OSes.
Flash Storage is amazingly fast compared to a Hard Drive. It also has no moving parts, therefore is much more durable, and much more likely to survive a drop than a Hard Drive (which would seem to be useful in your situation).
Also, I don't know why your sister's friends would hate the Retina display. Many people love it because it gives them the ability to edit pixel by pixel with perfect accuracy.
I would go for the Retina display. It has better specs for the same price so why not? Not to mention that it's much faster and will likely receive updates much longer than the new MacBook Pro without Retina display.

New Mac - Migration Assistantat not working...metadata?

Hi there,
Got myself a new Mac and Migration Assistant just didn't play ball. Not sure why - could have been me upgrading fro a 10.4 PPC G5 to Intel 10.5...
Anyway, ended up dragging and dropping across the network. Got all my music, but no metadata - playcounts etc. The old Mac is still in operation so I can access file son it etc.
Any ideas on how I can get the metadata appended to the songs on my new Mac?

Here's how to get the metadata accross. On the new Mac, you're going to have to start over with movin your library. Go to Home-> Music-> iTunes and delete everything there.
On the old Mac, go to Home-> Music-> iTunes. Copy everything in that folder to the same location on the new Mac. This will put all your music (that was in your iTunes music folder; you'll have to copy files that are in other places separately) into iTunes, and keep all your metadata, games, artwork, etc.

About to purchase new mac: Migrating Logic

I'm about to purchase a new mac and I don't have my original Logic disks. I've got the studio upgrade disks and obviously the serial from original logic.
I'll have to migrate.
From peoples experience, will I have any problems migrating Logic from my Macbook Pro Snow Leopard to Imac Lion?

Yes as longs as the other display is less than 2560X1600.
The TB display is:

Usb3 errors on new mac mini (late 2014)

Hello to Everyone,
i have the following problem:
USB3 Devices does not work on my new MacMini (Late 2014).
I tried different USB3 Devices/Adapters with SSD/SATA Drives Connected and they are recognized by the system,
but when trying to access them, they just hang, or the MacMini reboots randomly when accessing usb3 devices !
This happens with Yosemita and Win8.1 either.
Connecting the SSD/SATA Drives with USB2 Adapters, works fine.
Connecting the same USB3 Adapters to another Computer with USB3 (like MacMini 2013) everything works fine, too.
Anyone has an idea or the same problem ?
Hopefully Apple releases an Bios update soon.

I have a brand new Mac Mini (July 2014) with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB hard drive and I typed in my screen saver password today and it froze up. Had to push the power switch and restart the computer. Why, and what can I do to prevent this?

It shouldn't crash just because I type in my screen saver password. But it did. I had to push the power button to shut it down and turn it back on.

Freezes happen occasionally. Hard to pinpoint a cause. I wouldn't let it worry you as they are rare. If this happens often then post back as there may be something wrong.

New Macs in 2014?

Mac Mini Late 2014 crashing nightly

Several nights now my new mac mini (Late 2014), 10.10 has crashed and shutdown. It cold boots with power button press. Logs show it might be trouble with sleep, but posting this since long thread on these troubles with Yosemite is for Mac Mini 2012.
Just got the machine on Friday. Used migration assistant to load settings and maps from Mavericks lap top. Crashed on both tries, but did set up an account. None of my user files transferred, did that manually. Hoping not to do a fresh install, but need to know if settings from Mavericks could cause a problem.

Mountain Lion Won't Install on Mac Mini (Late 2014)

My relatively new Mac Mini (Late 2014) is running Yosemite.
I have purchased Mountain Lion in order to run a favoured version of sound editing software which is not compatible with either Yosemite or Mavericks.
Attempts to download my purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store result in the following message "We could not complete your purchase. OSX Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer".
The 'Learn More' button takes me to the support article which states that Mountain Lion requires hardware of Mac Mini (Early 2009 or newer).
In terms of software, it requires that Lion is already installed.
My query is do I need to purchase Lion and install it before I can install Mountain Lion?
My concern with this is that Lion itself requires Snow Leopard itself installed on the machine!

That is correct. Versions of OSX prior to Yosemite do not have the divers to support the 2104 Mac Mini.
You may be able to run ML as a virtual machine (VM) using a VT app like the free VirualBox and paid parallels.
However,you may not be able to get a copy of ML to install unless yo have another Mac that allows you to download the installer.
