New Mac - Need to Clean older 1022 Printer

I have an old HP 1022 Printer and a new Mac 10.9.3.
My printing is functional but I am getting a lot of spotting and shadowing
I would like to clean the printer per page 52 of the manual (only references a PC command to do it)
Does anyone know how to send the clean printer command from a MAC?

Welcome to the HP Forums Aloha1,
I see by your post that you would need to run a cleaning since the printer is printing shadows and spotting on the paper.
I can help you with this issue.
The driver for this printer for Maverick is the Apple Update drivers. Basic print drivers.
Most likely you won't have the option to run a cleaning through the Apple drivers installed.
You can check though, by going to the Apple, System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, click on the printer to open the printer's window. Click on Utility if you have the option and see if it provides the cleaning function.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
2. Check the memory chip for damage.
3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, or other damage on the imaging drum, black toner, replace the toner.
5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.
If you have another computer to setup the printer on, you could run the cleaning on it.
Hope this helps resolve your issue.
Are you using Genuine HP Toner?
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Apple provides repeat downloads as a convenience, not a substitute for your computers being the primary source of file transfers.  All your iTunes information such as playlists, ratings, etc. are in a file on your computer, not in the Apple Store.  Typically when you move computers you copy the whole iTunes folder and everything it contains to the new computer.  Moving media files can be done with a drive, or by Home Sharing.  You can also redownload media but let's say somebody desiced Apple may no longer sell a certain album; it cannot be downloaded again but if you already have it on a computer you can move your copy of the file.
5 authorizations:  Some households have multiple computers.  If you want ot use one with an account it has to be authroized.  It means you can use any computer in the house to make purchaes, etc.
Okay, my 5 minute typing limit for any one response is up.

  • Getting a new Mac: need to transfer files/applications, have external hard drive, and wipe clean old Mac to give to family member

Getting a new Mac this Christmas. I have several questions:
    1. How do I transfer files/applications from old to new?
    2. I have an external hard drive, do I need to save iTunes account to it?
    3. How do I wipe the old Mac clean to give to family member?

    1. Use the Migration Assistant the first time you turn on the new computer.
    2. No, but you should do so as a backup.
    3. Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, when you reach step 5, insert its original disk, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.

  • Do I need airport to connect my new Mac Book Pro to a wireless printer?

Do I need Airport to connect a wireless printer to my new Mac Book Pro?

No and you don't have to use the wireless card in your MBP either.
A wireless printer connects to your wireless router. Any other device (computer) that is connected to the router either by wire or wireless will be able to use the printer.

  • Installation of Older FCP on New Mac - Need Help

    Hi. Help.
I just got a new Mac. I have an older version of FCP - it is 4.5 aka HD.
My problem is that my 4.5 is an upgrade. I first got FCP when it was 1.2.5. Then I upgraded to 3, then 4.5.
To install 4.5 on my new Mac (with Leopard 10.5), I have to install the previous versions first, then the upgrades.
Guess what? I can't install the original 1.2.5, since there is no trace of Classic.
I am not going to go out and buy a full brand new version of FCP, when I am eligible for upgrades.
Is there a way that I can get Classic on my new Mac, even though I have 10.5?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,
By new Mac do you mean an new Intel machine or a used PowerPC machine?
If you really mean a new Mac then you need to upgrade your version of FCP. FCP 4.5 is PowerPC based and is not supported on Intel machines. You need a Universal Binary version. The first UB version was 5.1 and it was available during the Intel switch as a Crossgrade, it is no longer available. You can purchase an upgrade for FCP though as long as you have the original serial numbers you do not need to install the old version first.

  • Help connect my new Mac Mini with my stubborn HP Printer!

I just got a used, but cleaned up Mac Mini. My HP Deskjet 6980 printer, worked flawlessly with my old G4. Right out of the box, i didn't need to install a driver, i just hooked up the USB ( most simple of the 3 connection options), and it worked fine. Now that i have a new Mac Mini, i hooked it up, it recognizes the HP printer in System Prefs, but when i try to print i just get page after page of strange code. I installed the printers' installatin cd (which, i didn't even need on my first computer), and It still won't print. Again when i hit "print"... just endless code.
What can I do. I am not totally computer computer literate or familiar with all the terminology, so please, keep it simple. Thanks so much for your help.

You don't say, but first thing we need to know is whether you have a G4 Mini or and Intel Mini. (Intel Mini has 4 USB ports on back, G4 has 2 USB ports.)
If you have an Intel Mini, odds are you need to download the latest drivers for Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) from the HP site. The drivers on the old CD probably won't work right with an Intel Mac. And you may have to uninstall all the HP stuff you have already installed from the CD.

  • New Mac, need to link to my itunes folder

So before I sold my other mac, I copied off my iTunes folder to an external drive. Now I have my new mac, and I have this external drive with my tunes on it, and I want to keep them there and point to it.
I have searched all around and keep doing it wrong, apparently, so I could use some pointers as to how I can easily link to the iTunes folder that is currently sitting on my drive.

Hold the Option key when starting iTunes.
Select the iTunes library file in the iTunes folder on the external.

  • New to Mac - Need help - Want to share Printer and Internet with PC

Looking for help in setting up to share my Windows Compaq PC printer and files and internet with my MAC Mini. They sit right next to each other, my PC does not have wireless ability. What equipment and what steps do I need to take to make this happen? I am looking for the cheapest way possible.
    Thanks

To share the internet you are going to need the means the connect both the Mac and PC to your internet connection. A router would be the simplest - connect your broadband modem to the router and the computers to the router. Routers are quite inexpensive these days and it is also needed to share a printer with both computers.
This leads us to the printer. Before you think about sharing the printer with the Mac you'll first need to determine the printer has drivers for OS X. If not, there's no easy way to seamlessly print from the Mac to your printer. Note I say seamless. Since all Mac applications can print a PDF file you can print the PDF, transfer the file to your PC, and then print the PDF in Windows.

  • Starting New Project, Need to Cleanly get rid of old project.

I am about to finish up a project today, that I've been working on. I want to clear out my computer of any data/file/etc. so that when I start my new project, I will be starting fresh. What can I do to make sure this happens without trashing anything I'm not supposed to? Avoid fragmenting? Basically want to ensure I am starting with a clean slate for my upcoming project. Any insight would be appreciated!!!
    My configuration is as follows:
I edit in HDV on a PowerMac G5 dual 2.7, 2G RAM (about to install 2 more G's), 2x250 GB internal hard drives. One hard drive store OS & Apps, the other is my scratch disk. If you need further info, I will be more than happy to give it. Thank you so much in advance!

Most of the time when you 'erase' a file or a disk, it simply changes the first few charactors in the heading without doing anything to the rest of the information. The file system does not recognize the file/directory anymore but most of the information is still there. This is what file recovery software relies on to pull your files back from the grave.
"Zeroing" a drive is to write an unrelenting sequence of zeros - which in effect - completely erases everything on the drive. However, there is some magnetic residue left that bad bad people can use to discover all the 'adult' sites you have been visiting and storing material from should they get their hands on your drive. Writing 7 or 32 sequences of zeros is one way to totally erase a disk beyond reclamation.
In the case of acceptable use, a simple erase is all you need. Do you have something to hide? lol

  • Mac Air Crashed New Mac Need help syncing

My Mac Book Air Crashed. My back up to my music was my IPad. I was able to get my purchased music from to sync with the new Ipad, or rather authorized. I want to get my pics and music from my IPad to the new computer. This is music from old CDs I had uploaded to my Mac Air and then to my IPad and Nano. I want the music that was not purchased from Itunes on my computer.
Can I do that? There has to be a way to do this. I know you can only sync to one computer, but what happens when you have a crash or your computer is lost or destroyed?

  • New Mac - Need Software recommendations

    Hello All!!
This is my first post. I just got my brand new IMac yesterday and am a recent windows convert. I am looking for software packages to replace their PC equivalents. The software I used on my PC most often was :
Sierra's Print Artist - Desktop Publishing
Halmark Card Studio = Used to make greeting cards, calendars, etc.
    Any recommendations?!!
    Thanks, in advance.
    Michelle

I would search for software at VersionTracker or MacUpdate. There are lots of DP software. Most decent word processors can make cards and calendars as well as used for DP work.

  • A new Mac user on an older MacBook. I have some how changed the size of the typeface that appears on web pages. I have gone through and looked under preferences and reset everything that i could find but this still dosent work.

I will try to describe things better. When I pull up a web page (in firefox or safari) the type face in the columns is larger than it should be. This results in the columns spreading to a second line and rearragning the rest of the page.

  • Trying to install Deskjet 3054A wireless printing with brand new Mac Book Pro

    Hello,
I am trying to set up the wireless printing function on the Deskjet 3054A with a new Mac Book Pro, but not having any luck. When I connect via the USB the printer shows up, but once disconnected there is no communication. I tried to get the updated driver on the HP site, but nothing ever downloaded and it kept taking me to the setup page.
Is this All-In-One compatible with the new Mac OS 10.10 for wireless printing?
    Thank
    Scott

    Hello Sabuff,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some connectivity issues to you Mac 10.10.
Just so you are aware, the printer does not have a full feature software and driver package available for the Mac 10.10 operating system.
You can however try the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
Please feel free to write me back with any other questions or concerns.
    Cheers,
