*New Mac User* In love but mail not sending grrrrr.....
I am sure this is a common problem for Newbies like to me. Could someone please walk me through the problem I am having with the following error message:
Sending the message content to the server failed.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Sending from: ***** <*****@mac.com>
I have tried switching outgoing port to 587...read that somewhere but still no luck..any suggestions?

Do you have an ISP account as well as the mobileme one? If so is that working?
I have to set the outgoing server for my mobileme account to be my regular ISP server.
Change this in Mail/Preferences/accounts.
I have never changed port numbers.

New Mac user-can receive but can't send BellSouth mail
I am hoping someone can help-I see that others have had this problem but I still cannot get my bellsouth email account to send! I can receive mail just fine-but when I try to send it goes to my outbox and then it times out. I have 2 gmail accounts and they work very well. But my bellsouth account is my main email and if I can't get it to work in mail I will be SO disappointed!!
I set up my bellsouth account-they are my isp so i see no conflict there. Spoke to customer support-we went through all the settings and confirmed that settings and ports were correct.On the outgoing mail server description, it says Bellsouth (offline). I know it has to be online to send. They gave up and suggested I call apple support. I did that-we tried many things from changing ports to deleting the account and starting over-on the phone for almost an hour and finally he said "sorry-it won't work." He said that sometimes he can get these to work and more often they don't. Very frustrating! I have gone through these forums for hours-can't find anything that works. Has anyone been able to resolve this problem? I have been a pc user for many years but loved my iphone so much I thought it would be great to switch to a mac. But now I am questioning my decision! Any help would be most appreciated.I went in and set up the account from scratch again. I did not check the "use authentication" box so it is not required. After the account is setup, and I check the box that says "take the account online", I go to the accounts page. For the outgoing mail server, it says Bellsouth (the name I gave it) and then it says offline. I also have gone in and edited the server list-and it always goes back to offline.
Well-just tried to send again a message to myself...IT WORKED! How 'bout that! Still says offline-but if I go to the mailbox menu at the top, then go to online status-it says "take bellsouth offline". This must mean that I am actually online!!
I guess what worked was just to keep trying. I did not do anything different this time-I had tried it with and without authentication before. But I am happy to report that I am now sending mail. If anything changes, I will repost. To those that responded--Thank you so much for your help!! -
New mac user - iphoto trouble - original doc not found
hey all,
i just got my first macbook a few days ago. things are going pretty good except for an iphoto error.
when i try to import my library i get an error to the effect of "can not upload original doc not found"....it wants me to find the picture, which i can, and click it, which then will import it....this works but i would have to do this 2,000 times to import my whole library
i should note i do not want to copy the photos in iphoto....i just want it to point to my originals...
also i did succesfully upload them all once....but then i wiped them out....so this is my second time...it worked the first time....
???????When you run a referenced library iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. It will create an alias to the Original file, a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version.
What's happened here is that the alias has lost contact with it's Linked File. Have you made any changes to the path the that file? Renamed or moved a folder?
Frankly, unless you are using wo different photo managers, I strongly recommend against running a referenced library - even more so for an inexperienced Mac user.
1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them
3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about finding the files: There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Your choice, obviously, but best to be aware of the pitfalls.

Mac OS X 10.9 Mail not sending (Mail 7.0)
Outbound emails are stuck in the Outbox. Connection Doctor says my SMTP info is good. I can receive email just fine. I found out after a client emailed me wonder where the proofs were. Not cool.
I think that is not the field used by Lightroom....
What information are you showing? I use EXIF and IPTC

I am sending mail when new item created in List.
Here status is completed, but mail not sending the following error comes
"The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the e-mail has a valid recipient".
But i have valid email ID.
If i am sending mail through C# (Visual Webpart), mail sending properly.

Normally, you just connect the monitor to the MacBook using a VGA adaptor that you can buy from an Apple Store. Now try System Preferences > Displays > Detect Displays. You should now be able to select a display mode for the monitor. If it still doesn't work, then I'd check that everything is properly connected. I've had problems with colours disappearing due to a faulty connection in the VGA adaptor.

Where is the Apple problem? I have CS4 and CS5 running perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro. Installed 5 after Lion upgrade. Worth every cent. Adobe did have some catching up to do with Lion but with the CS5.5 update all runs fine. But not yours. So it is a problem with the Lion OS? You say you have been with Adobe since 2005. So you would be aware of all the other issues that Adobe had catching up with past Oss in Mac and Windows then. They get it right, but it is up to them. It is not up to Apple, nor Microsoft for that matter, to run around and check that every software developer in the world is running their business properly.
And what has politics got to do with anything. Some people just have to blame Software for their poor Hardware maintainence of failure of the same.

Again, that's not a problem - if you purchase Mountain Lion through the App Store, it's been updated to 10.8.2 - and when there are other updates available, you can just download and install them as well.
Just go to the App Store and purchase and install ML. Then run Software Update (Apple menu) to see if there are any updates available for your machine. I keep my System Preferences>Software Update prefs set to check automatically -
Some people would rather check manually. No big deal, just buy it and install it.

Hello everyone. As a new Mac user, I would really like to know the easiest way to move my music files from my old PC to my MacBook? Do I move only the files, the entire iTunes and how? I have a lot of music so it is not a solution with iPod/iPhone.

I'm a new MAC user and I'm trying to transfer my iTunes music files to my Mac, however when I attach the external drive that contains the music files, the music files aren't visible on the MAC (but they are visible on my old PC). How do I get my music transferred?
