New Macbook air not printing correctly to WIFI HP Officejet 8500

When I print a MS Word doc ( newsletter) from my IMac the formatting is perfect, all the text, page numbers, headers and footers print in their entirety on the pages.
When I print the exact same document from my Macbook Air, the formatting is off, it cuts off page #'s and items in the headers and footers get cut off and it appears that the page contents is just to big to fit on the page
Any idea what could be causing this?
Thank you!
All the best,
Dan

I am using  Word for mac 2008, version 12.3.6.
Both versions are up to date on both computers.
My iMac is using OSX 10.6.8 and all the Word formatting and printing works fine.
My Macbook air is using OSX 10.8.5. When I print the exact same documents from the Mavbook Air It screws up all the formatting. It almost looks as if the page is about 5% to 10% too large for the printer and stuff at the top and bottom of each page gets cut off.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
All the best,
Dan

  • Trying to connect new MacBook Air to printer (Canon MF4570dn)attached to my PC

I have a new MacBook Air and I am trying to set it up to print to a Canon MF4570dn hooked up via USB to my PC. I have file and printer sharing turned on. The MacBook can see the workgroup --> computer --> printer name. I have tried using Canon's print drivers and generic PCL to no avail. With the former, I get "filter' failed and with the latter, everything seems to work when I look in the printer status (shows that it is waiting to print and then just disappears (as if it has finished printing) - but no printout.
    Network is avilable.

  • Does the new Macbook Air not have iLife and iWork Apps?

My old Macbook Air came with iLife and iWorks installed. My new Macbook Air with osX does not. Am I missing something?

It comes with GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto.  If you want pages and numbers, must buy in the App store or theiWork DVD.

  • MacBook AIR not functioning correctly

    HI everyone,
I have a 2014 MacBook Air running Yosemite and it has been completely functional until Friday morning when it rebooted itself without any input from myself. I was on a webpage and the screen went white before going to the Apple logo and loading bar. It stays on 50% and does not move... Occasionally after powering it down I cab get to the log in screen but cannot actually log in (the beachball of death spins and spins)
I have loaded it in Safe mode but cannot log in, have gone through Disk Utility (Cmd R) and checked the drives are functioning and I have reinstalled the OS. Just now i have done a PRAM check too... I am totally stuck now and if anyone has some advice then I am all ears.
    Thanks in advance,
    HQ78

If you have reinstalled the OS and it still doesn't work, then I'm sorry to tell you it's likely a hardware problem, which needs checking at a Genius Bar in a local Apple Store or at a Certified Service Provider.

Start a finder window and on the menubar Finder > Preferences > General tab > check Show these Item on the desktop > CDs DVDs, and iPods.
If you want it to start iTunes, connect the iPod, select it in the sidebar of iTunes and on the Summary tab, check "open iTunes when this iPod is connected.

  • Photosmart c4280 prints gibberish from new Macbook Air using OS X10.9

I can't seem to get this to print.  It will print page after page of a single line of gibberish for a simple print request.  The machine is a new macbook air with 10.9.4  Wife's IMac w/10.6  prints wirelessly with no problem.  As does my son's windows 7 powered PC.  So I'm not sure where to turn.  I've already done a reload of the driver with the same results.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, plugging the printer directly to the computer worked!  Not ideal, but it is workable.  Not sure why that is the case because the computer has no problems connecting to the internet via the router.  I guess it's all over my head!

  • NEW MACBOOK AIR WONT RECOGNISE EXTERNAL HD NOW !

Well, I am almost on the verge of giving up - not only will this new MACBOOK AIR not link to the AIRPORT it also wont open my external hard drive with all my back up data on it.
I am in despair , I cant see the external hard drive in Disc Utilities , (its plugged into the mains ) and I am feeling  less than impressed with this new machine - nothing works on it at all  and I just cant recover anything from my back ups - we have the need for backing up drilled into us so why when I do everything I should, does this new machine not respond - the old one has no problems at all but I need to run a network now .
Can anyone help at all ?

    KarryGee
tried to access my recovered HD on my old machine.........- and that data was transferred from a PC
You didnt mention that initially, if the data on the HD came from a PC, then the HD is likely NTFS formatted and cannot be used with your Mac.
Youll need another HD and format same in EXFAT for read/write from/to both PC and MAC, however if you plan on using time machine with your Mac, the drive will need to be formatted in Mac OSX ext. journlaed (HFS+).
Please specify what your "older machine" is?
You said---"but I have just tried to access my recovered HD on my old machine and I no longer can"
if your older machine is a Mac, then it is likely that the WD software in conjunction with Mavericks has caused data corrupted (as in the links mentioned above).
If your older machine IS a PC, then the HD has likely failed OR MORE likely the SATA bridge card has failed.
You said---has completly ruined 7 years of work
No, if the SATA bridge card failed (very common actually), then the HD is fine, see full info about that sort of failure here:
Your dead external hard drive is likely fine! Great hope for your 'faulty' external HD

  • My Webcam is not recording correctly.  When recording directly to youtube, the audio sounds like a robot.  It was not doing that when I first got my new MacBook Air last month.  What do I do to fix it?

My built-in Webcam is not recording correctly.  When recording directly to youtube (upload), the audio sounds like a robot.  It was not doing that when I first got my new MacBook Air last month.  What do I do to fix it?
I have tested it over several days with different internet connections...and have done it with another notebook computer on the same connection and it the video uploaded and recorded fine.  I can also use the video webcam with Google Hangouts and it records and works fine.  So I know the problem is not internet connection...and apparantly not even the webcam or mic.

Try using Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

  • Cisco Anytime Connect VPN working from iMac but not from MacBook Air with same settings and wifi network

    Hi guys,
I'm having trouble connecting my new MacBook Air to Cisco Anytime Connect VPN.
The same configuration works with my iMac, in the same network and same Mac OS Mountain Lion on both computers.
After successfully connecting to VPN after a few seconds it gets disconnected and, what is worse, WIFI is not working any more in my macBook Air, I need to deactivate it and start again.
With iMac with the same settings it doesn't happen.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Did you power cycle the network? That's always the first thing you want to do if a device is "missing" or not connecting to your network correctly.
If you have not already tried this a few times, power down the entire network...all devices, order is not important.
Wait a few minutes and place the MBAir close to the TC
Start the modem first and let it run a few moments by itself. Then start the TC if it is the device connected to the modem and let it run a few moments. Then start each device one at a time the same way.

my new macbook air( 761-13", ios 10) suddendy shutdown today during copy of a dvd from external dvdrom. and it does not turn on or start up.what should i do?

    Hello kanani-2014,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your Mac not turning on. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on
    Resolution
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

  • Wifi problems with new MacBook Air?

I have just bought a new MacBook Air.
For some reason the Air cannot find one of my WiFi networks called XF11. Its not a problem with the router being too far away because thats in my bedroom where I use the Air. The strange thing is my iPhone, my brothers iPad and my old MacBook find the network straightaway.
On a few occasions over the last couple of days  when I have looked at the list of networks available it has briefly shown up but has then disappeared?
Any help would be most appreciated, its very frustrating!
    Cheers!
Apologies if this is the wrong category to post this

  • What do I do if my new macbook air does not accept my password even if I've tried more than a few times?

    Hi there,
Just bougiht a new macbook air and the start up screen is not accepting my password even though I have typed it in a few times and correctly. I have already used this mac previously for 2 days and have added microsoft office today but this is the first time I have logged in since the installation.
I don't understand why the password isn't being accepted. Could it be the installation? Or do I need to reset my macbook air?
Just a note, I'm not proficient using a Mac.This is my first macbook.
    Many thanks for the help.
    Tony

You can reset your password with the install cd or usb ...
Follow these steps to reset a password when there is only one administrator account on the computer, or if the original administrator account needs a password reset. "Original" administrator account refers to the one that was created immediately after installing Mac OS X. If the original administrator password is known, that administrator account may be used to reset the passwords of other administrator accounts using the steps described above. These steps require an optical drive; if your Mac does not have an optical drive and you have a Mac OS X v10.6 Install disc, see below.
Start up from a Mac OS X Install disc (one whose version is closest to the version of Mac OS X installed).  Usually, you can start from the disc by putting it in your computer, restarting, and holding the C key. Or, put it in the computer and click the Install or Restore icon you see in the disc's main window (after which the computer will start from the disc without you needing to hold C). Or, you can use Startup Manager or the Startup Disk preference pane to select the Install disc.
Choose a language, click the arrow button to continue,
Mac OS X v10.6 or later: Choose Password Reset from the Utilities menu.
Mac OS X v10.5 or v10.4: Choose Reset Password from the Utilities menu.
Mac OS X v10.3: Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu.

  • I just got a new MacBook Air -- Moving data over from the Time Capsule over WiFi??

I just bought a new MacBook Air because my MacBook Pro 2008 died completely. I own a Time Capsule and it backed up regularly. I'd like to just move over all my data to my new 256GB MacBook Air, but it doesn't seem to be recognizing the Time Capsule over WiFi? I had the Time Capsule set to backup over Ethernet. Does this mean I can only access my files vs. Ethernet? Does that mean I need a USB to Ethernet adapter?

Backing up other Ethernet doesn't prevent access via Wi-Fi.
If the Time Capsule creating a wireless network?  If not, you'll need to configure it to do so in order to allow the MBA to connect to it.  If it does, can you connect the MBA to the Time Capsule's network?
Depending on the amount of data you want to transfer, using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter would help things run faster.
