New macbook air wont charge iphone 4

I bought a new 11 inch MBA 1.6 GHz intel Core i5. I plugged my iphone 4 in to charge and connect with itunes. The MBA is plugged in using its power supply. I receive a message that says there is not enough power in the usb port to charge or operate the device. Same thing occurred with both USB ports.
Is this a known issue?

I was using it in an offsite conference room. I'm guessing that there was a power outlet issue that I did not recognize.
It works well. Thanks for your replies.

Are you wanting to import iCal to the MacBook Air. Since iCloud doesn't work with 10.6 OSX you probably don't have any data in iCloud yet?

  • New macbook air wont download my songs from my iphone 4

my new macbook air will not let me download my music that i purchased on itunes with my iphone 4. When i connect my iPhone it downloads my pics but none of my songs the screen says scan media i push that button and nothing happens. How do i get my songs to download onto my mac itunes?

Make sure your Mac is authorized for all Apple IDs used to purchase the music in iTunes Store>Authorize This Computer.  Then connect your phone, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  This should transfer your music, apps and other purchased media from your phone to your iTunes library.  It won't transfer music that was not purchased from the iTunes store.

  • NEW MACBOOK AIR WONT RECOGNISE AIRPORT

I have a new MacBook Air - have spent 7 hours trying to get it to recognise and link to my AIRPORT and still no joy . I have my old MACBOOK PRO linked up, no problems ,and I have mirrored all the settings but  the new one  still cant find the AIRPORT and on the odd occasion that it does , it eventually times out .
Have re-set the AIRPORT and done everything that the Apple Tech Man advised but nothing doing - feel like throwing the stupid thing out of the window .
Also, it wont recognise my external hard drive so all the back ups that I have made, cant be transferred to my new machine.
The whole point of having two machines was to make sure I was never left in a position like I was the other week with a broken hard drive and no way of runnimg my business but I have been unable to do any work for over two weeks - Apple Support non existant .
So any ideas would be very welcome . Thanks

As no one replied I would just say that I now know that you dont need McAfee security on a MAC - if you do , AIRPORT and your MacBook wont connect using AIRPORT TIME CAPSULE so dont let the store you buy your MAC from sell you MCAFEE  - its not needed

  • NEW MACBOOK AIR WONT RECOGNISE EXTERNAL HD NOW !

Well, I am almost on the verge of giving up - not only will this new MACBOOK AIR not link to the AIRPORT it also wont open my external hard drive with all my back up data on it.
I am in despair , I cant see the external hard drive in Disc Utilities , (its plugged into the mains ) and I am feeling  less than impressed with this new machine - nothing works on it at all  and I just cant recover anything from my back ups - we have the need for backing up drilled into us so why when I do everything I should, does this new machine not respond - the old one has no problems at all but I need to run a network now .
Can anyone help at all ?

    KarryGee
tried to access my recovered HD on my old machine.........- and that data was transferred from a PC
You didnt mention that initially, if the data on the HD came from a PC, then the HD is likely NTFS formatted and cannot be used with your Mac.
Youll need another HD and format same in EXFAT for read/write from/to both PC and MAC, however if you plan on using time machine with your Mac, the drive will need to be formatted in Mac OSX ext. journlaed (HFS+).
Please specify what your "older machine" is?
You said---"but I have just tried to access my recovered HD on my old machine and I no longer can"
if your older machine is a Mac, then it is likely that the WD software in conjunction with Mavericks has caused data corrupted (as in the links mentioned above).
If your older machine IS a PC, then the HD has likely failed OR MORE likely the SATA bridge card has failed.
You said---has completly ruined 7 years of work
No, if the SATA bridge card failed (very common actually), then the HD is fine, see full info about that sort of failure here:
Your dead external hard drive is likely fine! Great hope for your 'faulty' external HD

  • New Macbook Air wont recognise external HDD

Hi, got a brand new Macbook Air with the latest OS (10.9.3), not recognising my Verbatim #53029 external HDD. The drive is still working fine on my old Mac Pro, and the USB is working fine on the Macbook Air. But when I connect the drive there's nothing.....nothing in Disk Utility either. Already contacted support and they're stumped.
I know the Vertbatim drives have software and drivers pre-installed, I'm wondering If that has something to do with It.... I've looked at the Verbatim website and doesn't look like there are any new drivers or anything. Anyway It may just be one of those things i guess but very frustrating and means I'll need to fork out for yet ANOTHER hard disk, the bane of my existence....I thought solid state would help!

OK forget It , the HD started to work spontaneously..... i guess 236 times is the charm

  • Brand new macbook air wont power up first time

Just got my first Mac ever - Macbook Air 13.3.  It's been plugged in & charging for almost 4 hours.  Upon first plug-in, the light was green for maybe 2 to 3 seconds - then went amber.  No matter how many different outlets I used - same result.  I figured the unit needed to charge but it's been almost 4 hours and I'm anxious.  The light stays amber  I just spent 1400 bucks on a unit that I though would start up/be charged or at the very least somewhat charged upon opening.  Even my cheapo $750 Dell started up immediately out of the box.
I've tried 4 different outlets - same results (green to amber).  Tried with and without the AC adapter - same results (green to amber) - currently it is hooked up with the AC adapter.  It just wont start.
Are my expectations too high?  I've had this for less than 6 hours and I'm curious if I'm wasting my time continuing to wait.  NO where does it say "You will need to charge your new laptop for such and such hours" or "Your new laptop will not come charged" or "Your new laptop - when plugged in for the first time - will go from green to amber within a few seconds - this is normal." Just shows me a pic of the parts with no further information.  The instructions are so minimal, but that was okay - I figured I'd get all I needed once I booted up.  But it won't boot up!  <laughing!>
    Please help.

The light changing from green to amber just indicates that it is charging.  Tap the power button in the top right of the keyboard one time.  If it still doesn't power up, try this procedure.

  • New Macbook Air Power Charger - Adapter Available?

I currently have a Macbook Pro but just ordered the Macbook Air, which has a different power adapter charger.  Since I have many Macbook Pro chargers, I wanted to get an adapter to use my Pro charger on the new Air (so that I don't have to take my Air charger everywhere I go). Is there an adapter available for purchase?

    Yep, there sure is.
Apple has them online and at thier Apple Store retail locations. They are called a Magsafe to Magsafe 2 converter.

  • I can't sync my iPad 3 with iTunes using the new Macbook Air

When I connect my iPad 3 with its original cable to my new MacBook Air, the charge symbol in the iPad starts to blink and the iTunes keeps connecting and disconnecting the iPad (more than one time per second).
I can sync my old iPhone 3GS with the new Macbook Air and I can sync both iPhone and iPad with my old 2009 MacBook.
I found similar questions in the forum, but didn't find a solution. I can charge my iPad using the outlet, by I still need to backup and sync the iPad.
    BTW, every software is updated.

  • How do I sync my MacBook Air with my iPhone?

I just purchased a new MacBook Air.  While setting it up, I created a new Apple ID.  Unfortunately, I am now experiencing difficulties when trying to sync my new MacBook Air with my iPhone, which is synchronized to my old Apple ID.  I want all of my information (music, pictures, contacts, etc.) on my new mac.  How can I sync the two devices? (my phone is synchronized with another Mac)  Any help?

Can you sign into iCloud (System Preferences -> iCloud) on your new Air with the same account you use on your iPhone?

  • I bought a new MacBook Air the other day and I have been trying to connect my iPhone into the laptop to charge. However every time I plug it in, the phone connects and disconnects very quickly and doesn't charge. How do I fix this?

I Bought a new macbook air and it won't charge my phone. This is the second laptop ive gone through as i got a replacement one only two days ago for the same problem. I need to be able to connect my iPhone so I can download songs etc from iTunes onto my phone. How do I fix this?

Since this is the second computer you've had this problem with, I recommend you look for answers on the iPhone forum. My thinking is it is an iPhone issue rather than a computer issue (unless it is some software incompatibility).

I'm relatively new to Mac and want to try and get the most out of the new MacBook Air.
My wife and I have been sharing the same Apple ID. We both have iPhones - she has a 5 and I've got a 4S.
We only have one copy of iTunes and we have been sharing the account. (She doesn't really use the computer for anything beyond writing the odd weekend assignment.)
Would I be better off setting her up with her own and making her as a separate user on the computer? Would this require much work?
In recent times with updates, we have a few problems with the duplication of texts and that sort of thing. Both of our texts are stored on the computer and that sort of thing. Also, sometimes texts I send her are sent through to me  from her, if that makes any sense.
Anyway, I don't really want to overly complicate matters when it comes to accounts etc, but I wanted to know if a fresh Apple ID would be the best thing or even a new user?
Any tips etc would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in advance

I have this question too (0) Reply

Your question is almost too much a personal one, begging the question "do we (husband and wife) feel comfy sharing one account on the Mac"   maybe thats why nobody answered you.
It doesnt complicate anything, but it adds steps for switching accounts on the Mac/ purchases etc. of course
since your question is mostly personal, ..I wont answer THAT part of it, but creating a new account is easy.....messing with switching back and forth is also a personal preference 'issue' as well.   I prefer to keep things simple, but...........you and yours,  I dont know.......

  • Can i use a 85 watt charger with a new macbook air

Can i use a 85 watt charger with a new macbook air that comes with a 45 watt charger. One says its 14.8 volts and the other is 20 volts.

To be clear, the wattage of the adapter is not the power delivered to the Mac, but rather the power the adapter is capable of delivering.
Think of it as the difference between a 200 HP and a 400 HP engine; both can drive at a certain speed with no issues, the difference is what happens if you floor the gas pedal.
The same is true between the higher wattage power adapter that comes with the iPad and the one that comes with iPhones; you can use the higher wattage adapter to charge and iPhone with no issue, but if you try and use the iPhone adapter to charge the iPad it may work, but it will take much, much longer.

  • New MacBook air and Iphone 4 won't connect via CABLE

    Hi, hoping someone can help.
I bought a new MacBook Air a few days ago however when I insert my USB cable to connect it to my Iphone 4 to sync to my Itunes it will not recognise or charge the device, let alone sync. It simply flickers between charge and not charge so seems to be connecting for 0.2 of a second then goes off instantly afterwards- which allows many warning notices to appear on my macbook air. I have no idea what to do and I cannot even sync to Itunes.
My Iphone still works and syncs with my other PC and the cable is in good working order......
    Any response would be fantastic.
    Regards

If the phone still syncs to the other computer and you are using the same cable then the problem must involve the computer. Try performing a reset of NVRAM and PRAM.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
