  • My macbook battery will not charge. I have tried unplugging and doing an SMC reset but it did not seem to change. I have yet to try another magsafe charger. The charger has a dim green light while plugged into the computer. What are my next steps?

    Hello Everyone,
This is my first time using the forum. My macbook battery will not charge. I have tried unplugging and doing an SMC reset but it did not seem to change. I have yet to try another magsafe charger. The charger has a dim green light while plugged into the computer. What should my next steps be, besides trying a new charger as well as being the most cost effective?
    Thanks

  • New computer, battery will not charge

    Hello,
I just bought my new HP Dv6-6167 cl Entertainment PC from Sam's Club Yesterday morning. As soon as I brought my computer home I quickly realized that the only way computer would turn on or work is if I had it plugged in, and even then my battery would not, and will not, charge.

Thank you, I actually went to Sam's and it turned out I had their last computer like this and they told me that I had to get a hold of HP and order a new battery. I am going to try removing the device and rebooting my computer right now. I just bought the lap top and i have a warranty on it. So, if this does not work how will I go about re ordering a new battery.. should I call HP?

  • Brand New x100e Battery will not charge above 97%

    Hi,
I received my BRAND NEW x100e yesterday and I charged the battery to full once. After that I used an hour or two of battery life then plugged the laptop back in. Now the charge meter will not go above 97% (it's been stuck under 97% for hours and it's been plugged in). I have tried restarting the computer.
    Please assist!
    Thanks!

  • New MacBook Pro Will Not Charge While in Use

I'm not sure if this is an issue, however, I have been unable to find more information regarding this, so I thought I'd ask. While plugged in (MagSafe LED=Orange) the computer hovers around the same percentage of charge (i.e. +/-2%), even with very low to no use, and every once in a while says (Not Charging). However, when in sleep with the deck shut, it charges promptly as it should.
I've occasionally seen it charge slightly while in use while using the plug without the extension portion, however I am unsure if this is related. I have tried resetting the SMC, restart, etc. So my question simply is, is this an issue, or is the computer specified not to charge while open?
    Thanks!

As eww indicated, it may be a fault with the charger. The reason for my question was because you can use the 60 watt charger that comes with the 13" model on the 15" model (which comes with an 85 watt charger), but... it will only provide enough power to operate the 15" model while in use... it does not provide enough power to both operate the machine while charging it. It will only charge with the machine shut down. Your symptoms sounded very similar... but as you're using the correct charge, it may just be a bum charger. These types of things tend to fail early on if they're going to fail at all. With it only being a few weeks old, that would also seem to make it more likely to be a faulty charger. Apple tends to be very good with these things. If you have an Apple store nearby, set up a Genius appointment online. There's a good chance they'll just replace the charger for you. It's a good to bring it in though so they can check it out for you just in case the problem is with the charging circuitry in your Mac and not the charger.

  • New Macbook Pro will not charge.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro that was purchased new about a month ago. Today, I noticed that it wasn't charging. I plugged it into a couple different outlets, but the indicator light on the power cord won't come on at all. Any ideas why? Thanks for your time.

call AppleCare and see if they can troubleshoot it for you since this service is free to you for the first 90 days you own a new mac.

You'll want to reset your SMC (System Management Controller). Instructions are simple:

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

Otherwise, you should probably take your computer in to a service place to be tested, since there a a few possible causes of this behavior.

If your model Macbook Pro is the calibrating model, let the battery calibrate.
If not, and are still under warrant or have Apple Care, give them a call and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • My MacBook's fan is operating very high and I am able to hear it. Also my battery will not charge. I am told that there are no batteries available

My MacBook's fan is operating very high and I am able to hear it. Also my battery will not charge. I am told that there are no batteries available

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
For the fan running continually, first try an SMC (System Management Controller) reset:

Since you did not mention which model of MacBook you own, it's impossible to answer your battery question.
Apple still sells original-equipment batteries for most models from the Apple Store online.
Another reliable source of Mac products is OtherWorldComputing (www.macsales.com).
And some people choose to purchase batteries from what I consider to be less-reliable sources such as eBay.

  • New battery will not charge - have we missed something obvious?

My DD has just replaced the battery on her PB. When the power supply (less than 3 months old) is attached, the led shows amber but the battery will not charge. I've tried reseating the battery with no effect. Since I purchased it from an apple dealer, I'll be taking it back tomorrow, but I wondered whether there is something obvious we've missed.
    Thanks
    Jennifer

Thank you both. Yes I know the battery needs to be calibrated, but as you say, to calibrate, you need to charge, which is a non-starter. I'm going to take the whole thing in (again). I suspect the problem that led to the battery needing to be replaced possibly dealt a death blow to something inside. I don't know whether this is relevant, but before replacing the battery, the charger started to make a loud buzzing noise (I understand - I wasn't here), and with the old battery in place the PB kept freezing and/or rebooting. Only with the battery out and just the power supply in would the PB work. The PB is seeing the new battery, it just wont charge it. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else I could do before taking it in.

  • New battery will not charge

Had Genius Bar install a new battery as the old one was not charging. New Apple installed battery will not charge either. Light on T-connector always shows green even after SMC reset and battery will not charge. Any ideas?

Bring it back to Apple, they may have not seated the cable/connector correctly, or the cableconnector has an issue, or there is a problem with the charging circuit. Bring in your power adaoter with you as well. Apple repairs come with 30 day warranty

  • New iPad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help on that

my new ipad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help why if any one knows? thk

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night.
