NEW MACBOOK - Is it possible to transfer my songs to my new computer?

I bought a Macbook, so obviously I want to have all my songs on it. Is it possible to transfer my music either from my iPod to my Macbook or directly from my Dell to my Macbook? Thanks!

Yes, just connect your phone to your computer and sync it to itunes. (if its a mac it will already have itunes downloaded, but if not you will need to download itunes)

  • How do I transfer my songs from my old computer to my laptop? They are both the same iTunes account

How do I transfer my songs from my old computer to my laptop? They are both the same iTunes account.

These are two possible approaches that should work to move an existing iTunes library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where computer has died with no backup then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • It is possible to transfer the songs purchased online to the new Ipod?

I want to buy a new ipod but i am afraid i will loose the songs i purchased online from apple. does anyone know if it is a way to do it and also to pass all the songs to the new ipod?

I have 3 different iPods plus I have upgraded a couple of times to new iPods, and I have been able to synch my purchased songs on all of them without any trouble. I am assuming that your songs are on your computer. One caveat--I am a Mac user, but my husband's computer is a Windows XP and he has not had any trouble either when he has upgraded to new iPods. To be on the safe side, I would recommend that you back up your iTunes library before synching the new iPod.

  • I just bought the MacBook Air and tried to transfer my songs from my external hard drive to my mac. now i cannot open iTunes and it said that the file cannot be found or created.

i just bought a macbook air. ive been transfering all my songs from my external harddrive that i had on my previous laptop for itunes. now that i got them transfered. my itunes wont open. it says "the itunes library file cannot be found or created. the default location for this file is in the itunes folder in the music folder." what do i do!?!

How did you move the music?  You have to do it in a specific way:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the whole iTunes folder and all its subfolders and files intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Is there anyway I can transfer the songs, ect to my computer?, Is there anyway I can transfer the songs, ect to my computer?

I had my screen fixed by the manufacturer and they, for some reason, also replaced my hard drive. Is there anyway I can transfer my ipod's songs, ect to my computer?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music.
Use your backup copy to put them back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases:
    Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Other than itunes purchases, the music sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • Possible to transfer Acrobat 8 Professional from one computer to another after buying & downloading

I haven't purchased Acrobat 8 Professional yet, but really want to. The problem is that I will soon be switching computers to get a new operating system. Will I be able to somehow transfer Acrobat 8 from my soon-to-be defunct computer to the newer one without paying for the program again? It's $499! Any advice/help/suggestions urgently needed and highly appreciated asap.

If you are downloading software (particularly when you pay for it), you should ALWAYS burn a copy of it to CD or other backup. Maybe more than 1 CD (folks are finding that CDs actually don't last any better than floppies in some cases). Then if you ever have to reinstall or repair, you have the software. Be sure to keep the key when you purchase the product also. With Adobe products, it is a good idea to register the product with Adobe. In that case they will talk to you if something gets messed up and you need a new copy. Otherwise they don't know you from anyone else (or Adam as the saying goes).

  • HT1926 Is it possible to transfer my songs stored on a Mac over to my SOny PC Viao?

I want to transfer my stored songs which are on a Mac to a Sony PC Viao. Can I do this?
Secondly, my iPod has all the songs on it from the Mac. I have purchased some songs and they are on the PC. Is it true that if I connect my iPod to my PC, all the Mac songs will be witped out?

There are few methods that you could use to copy your content over from your Mac to your PC : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - if both are connected to the same wifi network then home sharing might be the easiest as you don't need anything extra (e.g. no external drive).
Not sure about iPod Classics (iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches are designed to only be synced to one computer at a time). If you are copying your entire library over to your PC and will be syncing the iPod to that then you shouldn't have any issues.

  • New Computer, Is it possible for ipod to transfer songs?

Is it possible to transfer the songs on an ipod to a new computer, without an existing music library, via the ipod?
I began to transfer songs to my new computer through my network, but it was taking too long, so i gave up. All of my itunes music is in a myMusic folder on my old computer, with subfolders organizing the music. I am worried that when I transfer my songs, the itunes on my new computer will not be able to recognize the cds and that i will have to type alot of song titles.

You can't sync or drag your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • How do I transfer the songs from my ipod to a new computer?

I loaded a bunch of cds onto itunes on an old laptop and then synced it to my nano.  That lap top crahsed and burned and I would like to be able to get the cds from my nano onto my new lap top. There are approximately 175 discs worth of music and i cannot re load all of them .  Can someone walk a total noob through the process?  thanks

There are really two options for you,
1st: An application called 'senuti' makes it possible to transfer the data from ipod to computer, something that is not possible with iTunes alone. This application however is not supported by Apple, and as a result may be somewhat unstable.
2nd: If the old PC is still in working order, you can copy the iTunes folder to an external hard drive (to locate this folder...with iTunes open, click the edit menu, then click preferences. Click the advanced tab. here you will find the location of the folder that iTunes keeps your media in. Using this path as reference, find the folder using the windows filing structure and copy it to the external hard drive. Now connect the drive to the new computer and copy the iTunes folder to the same location as it was found on the old machine...here is the cool part...hold down the option key (alt) and click to open iTunes. a dialouge box will appear asking you to either create or choose an iTunes library, click choose. Navigate through your computer in the resulting window and find the copied iTunes folder, click to go inside, here you will find a file called something like 'iTunes Library.itl' choose this file and click open.
iTunes will now be the same as it always was on the old machine, playlists and all.

  • New computer: How do I transfer content to new computer?

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro got stolen about 5 days ago... I just got a new one and restored my files from a Time Machine backup that I did 30 days ago.
On my iPhone I keep a "Recently Added" playlist that goes back to 4 weeks, where all the new music that I've purchased/imported to iTunes in the last 30 days is - the exact music which is not in my Time Machine backup....
How do I transfer those songs back to my computer? I guess this also applies to contacts/applications, which would be cool to have back!

You'll find details in on copying purchases to your computer in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to the iPod and iPhone. However there are a few third party utilities that are advertised as iPhone and iPod Touch compatible which can be used to retrieve the music files and playlists etc. Have a look at the web sites and help pages for these ones and see what you think or check the web for reviews:
Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
