New MacBook: No Apple Remote Included?

Looking at the "What's In The Box" contents for the new MacBooks (Penryn), the Apple Remote is no longer included in the contents. Further, the $19 Apple Remote now shows up as an option in the Configure To Order listing.
Hopefully, this is a mistake! Surely Apple isn't so cheap as to not include the remote?!

The new Macbook you got today probably isn't the new model which was announced this morning. According to Apple's site, the latest model doesn't include the remote, and the remote is offered as a $19 option on the Apple Store pages for Macbook, Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. Macbook Air owners will already confirm that no remote was provided.
The remote is used for controlling Front Row, which is, in my opinion, a clunky application for view movies, photos, and listening to music.

On the new MBAir, open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it then restart your Mac.

How can i install windows on new macbook air using remote drive on the bootcamp partition

Hi all, I just purchased a new macbook air mid - 2011 with OSX-Lion installed on it. I wish to install Windows XP on the boot camp partition but have not purchased the external super drive. Is there some way that I can install windows on boot camp using remote drive of my other macbook pro system.
If this is possible, then please guide me.

HT3199 connect iTunes on new macbook to apple tv 1st gen. library

On my formar macbook I had iTunes to synch with Apple TV 1st generation.
After upgrading to a new macbook pro with iTunes 11.0.3 I observe following problem:
1. on apple tv 1st gen. the library from my old macbook is there but in light gray, i.e. not connected to new macbook
2. when connecting new computer to apple tv 1st gen. it will create a new library (instead of connecting with existing library).
3. in iTunes, Devices Apple TV, only buttons "Settings" and "Photos" appear on top of window. "Music", "TV-shows" are missing.
How do I connect the two libraries, i.e. iTunes library on my new macbook with library on my apple tv 1st gen (last synched with my old macbook)?

AppleTV 1 was designed to sync with a single computer, but apart from untransferred purchases made on AppleTV, the sync was to AppleTv only.
You cannot make the new computer sync with AppleTV without removing the old sync connection on AppleTV under Settings>Computers. Doing this wipes the AppleTV of content tomprepare tobsync with a new iTunes library.
AppleTV1 also allowed streaming only from several computers other than the synced one - content will appear under My Shared Movies and so forth when the computer is on.
you really need to remove both computer entries from the Computers settings screen then re-add the new iTunes as a sync library.
Hopefully you have still got the old computer to allow you to copy media to the new one, or have copies of he media somewhere.
If most of your stuff was from iTunes Store then you should be able to redownload in iTunes.

When I open itunes and select Apple Tv, it does not show any of my music, movies, etc.. It just shows "Settings" and "photos". Under Settings, it doesn't give me any options. Please!!! can somebody tell me if the new macbook pros are going to be in any of Miami apple stores on the 03 of nov, it's a long story, but the only way i can get a new macbook pro is flying to miami From the Dominican Republic (on the same day) to pick one up. I've heard Bootcamp does this, but I've never owned a Mac before, and am daunted by the change. I would love a Mac for ease of use, as many of my friends seem to love it, but for school purposes, my PC laptop is better. My PC needs to be updated, though, and I really want to spring for the Mac, I just don't want to lose being able to not have to do my homework in a computer lab. A friend has dual operating systems on hers, and says it works beautifully for running both, though I don't know what macbook she's got. If I go to an Apple store and get a laptop from them, even bring the Windows 7 operating system (I'm NOT doing Windows 8), will they help do this for me? Does anyone know if it is alright to have the dual systems, or if it takes away from the hardware's ability to work? ANY advice is welcome.

It is not hard. Boot Camp allows running Windows natively, same as on a laptop PC would be with a few differences in fan and thermal control and drivers.
Once installed natively which would be dual-boot setup, you can then install and use VMware or Parallels to assign the Windows partition for use as a VM inside OS X, no more need to dual boot unless you want to.

Generally speaking, Windows computers do not include Microsoft Office either (unless you purchase it separately)!
Apple computers do not generally include either Microsoft Office or iWork, which is Apple's Office-like product suite. These are typically purchased separately.
Often, Apple computers do include iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand).

Can't add a new computer to Apple Remote Desktop

When trying to add an iMac to ARD the add computer window drops down then disappears right back up. I can't even type in my username or password. I tried clicking the iMac in the bonjour list and the add computer window just flashes. I've had this before with a Mac Pro. I swapped network ports and then it worked. Upon swapping back I was able to remote and add via both network interfaces. Since it's an iMac I cannot apply that trick. I did try something similar with airport on the iMac but was unsuccessful. Anyone else have this issue?

I have a macbook connected to LCD TV with HDMI connection .
Is there a way to use Apple remote with display closed .
examples of using apple remote with display closed would be
(1) waking the macbook with apple remote
(2) putting the macbook to sleep with apple remote
(3) Shutting down the macbook with apple remote
(4) accessing front row (using LCD TV as Display )
while doing this should I connect the macbook to power source.
please point me to any documentation / solutions available .
I don't have any external keyboard or mouse connected to macbook . I just want to use Apple remote to do the above functions .

you must have to have a keyboard or mouse to trigger the macbook wake up from sleep when you close the lid.
usb mouse is not that expensive and you can start with that.

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

New Macbook a good replacement for 12" Powerbook?

I think, besides the inch in display difference, that the new macbook WOULD HAVE made a GREAT GREAT GREAT replacement for users loving or wanting the portability, yet pro versatility of the old 12" Powerbooks. I think however that Apple has missed the mark in one BIG BIG WAY! Firewire. People who wanted something like the 12" powerbook wanted the power of the Macbook Pro in a smaller package. Apple hit the nail on the head with incorporating the same graphics performance, by using aluminum, by making it lighter, and by putting in the illuminated keyboard (only in the 2.4 model though). But on the last detail, they missed it. Firewire. there is no workaround. period. Why preload the systems with iMovie when you can't import video from MOST modern digital camcorders? WITHOUT EVEN introducing a new port with adapters (like they did with the Display Port). I think I would've sold my old macbook pro and had instantly purchased the new macbook if Apple had just included that one VITAL port. I would even prefer them putting it in the place of one of the two USB ports. But without being able to import video from my NEW minidv, there is just no way i could buy that macbook and call myself a proud mac owner. What kind of digital hub would that be? Isn't your slogan "works right out of the box."...? what do you guys think about the new macbook being a 12" powerbook replacement??

I have the same situation. I wanted to upgrade from my 12" Powerbook and would move up to the 13" screen of the new MacBook (15" is much too big for my needs). Another family member has the 15" Powerbook and has always liked my smaller size. I was ready to order 2 of the 13" MacBooks and was then stunned to see that Firewire was missing. I have a Sony DV camcorder for movies. It appears Apple expects me to use my old Powerbooks to input the video into iMovie and then transfer it over to my new MacBook. This is not the cutting edge Apple Computer Company that I have been a customer of for 25 years.
If Apple wants to add firewire to the new MacBooks, develop a USB / Ethernet to firewire adapter, or add a 13" MacBook Pro (w/ firewire) to the line-up, they will have a customer. Otherwise, I will hold onto my old Powerbooks until this is corrected.

You can call Apple support and they will help you do it.
You can type "move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.

All has been installed. Those are there in case you need to do a reinstall. Unlike most Windows based hardware vendors these days. Apple still ships software you might need in case a drive fails. Even in the case of the new MacBook Air, Apple ships the software on a flash drive.

Each clip I usually take is only a few minutes long. Unless we have some Family thing than its about an hour but in that case I would be using Final Cut Pro 6 to maybe cut some things out but nothing big editing wise and DVD Studio Pro 4 or iDVD 08 to make a DVD for the Family.
I am not a payed professional.
I do not use firewire right now fore video intake or editing. I don't know how it applies at all. If i need the firewire for a scratch disk. Why not just make a partition on the internal drive and use it as the Scratch Disk.
Yes I know how to do a lot with these applications.
I only edit for fun and to learn more and more cool stuff.
I may one day start making Applications that is when I finally learn how to write code.
I may start off by making Dashboard Widgets.
I plan on getting the New Apple Display for some great at home editing on one nice big screen.
Apples site says on the MacBook pro.
Minimum graphics memory usage is 256MB. An additional 16MB is required when using an external display.
Does this also apply to the MacBook because on the MacBook site is does not say.
So will/should the New MacBook handle all of what I mentioned hear.

Note I am currently doing this on a MacBook with 2.4GHz processor with 160GB of hard disk space 2MB of ram 144 shared main memory Intel graphics card X1300 or something.
Motion works well but either quits or gets slow when analyzing a video in 1920x1080 24p.
Shake works great but analyzing slows down my MacBook until the process is done. With 1920x1080 24p
And Shake tends to cause my MacBook to get a little slow when rendering out file nodes.
