New Macbook not powering on ??

I had recieved my new macbook today and if I press the power button the screen is not coming up nor I could hear any beep
But a white LED was glowing in the front, dvd drive makes some noise and fans are running. Battery indicator shows full. Further I had put in charge for an hour too
What could be the problem? Am i doing anything wrong.

i am having the same issue. I have to hold down the power button multiple times in order for the mac to ever start up. sometimes the LED lights up, sometimes not. I am not new to macs and have seen this issue on some older powerbook g4s, but first time i have seen it on newer hardware.

  • Transferred MS Office files on new MacBook not working

I just had my data migrated to a new MacBook and then installed MS Office:Mac 2011 on the new computer so my transferred Office files could work.  Some of them open up just fine and some open up blank or with funny lines.  For Excel, some of the docs have some blank columns (but when you are in the cell, the formula bar shows the data that's in there, but it doesn't show up in the cell) and some columns with data.  Some word docs have random lines but look blank.
Any ideas on what is going on?  Why are some working and some not and more importantly, how can I get them all to work, short of emailing all the files or using a memory stick to get all Office docs from my old doc to the new?  Does the fact that the migration occurred before the new Office program was installed have something to do with it?
    Thanks!
    Bernice

Sorry for double posting but I have more information.
When I use the keyboard viewer and press Z it actually shows it being pressed on screen it just doesn't appear in text box's. Also I clicked on google search (randomly to try typing) and I didn't type I just pressed the keys using the keyboard viewers and when I pressed Z on the keyboard viewer it didn't come up so it's definately nothing wrong with the hardware it has to be something wrong with the programmes or something. Also I can write Z when I hold down shift + Z but other than that I can't use the cap lock to write it.
Oh this is all very confusing please help

  • Photostream on new MacBook not  synching old photos

The PhotoStream may show different contents on the devices. Some devices may keep older photos in the stream, but the iCloud server wll not necessarily keep photos that are older than a month. So your new mac will only see the recent photos on the iCloud server.
How do I get iPhoto Photostream to synch mall y whole Photostream photos from the iCloud?
Download the missing photos to the Camera Roll and then connect the device to your Mac. This way you can download the contents of the Camera Roll directly to iPhoto.
Also, if you add photos again to the camera roll, that are in some other album on your IOS-device, they will be sent to the PhotoStream again.

  • Old Macbook Died, trying to put old SSD into new Macbook, not working.

I had an old 07 model 17in Macbook pro with a 250g SSD in it. The old macbook finally died so I bought a used 2011 model 17in Macbook Pro that comes with a 500g spinning hard drive.
I would like to move the SSD from my old Macbook(complete dead) into my new Macbook, but apparently it's not as simple as remove and install. The new Macbook will not boot from my old SSD drive once I put it in. The old SSD was running Mavericks and with data on it which I would like to keep. Any suggestions?

Hello babyharpseal and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
"move the SSD from my old Macbook(complete dead)"
So you're sure that SSD is working properly? What happened to your '07? and did you keep your Mavericks Installer?
    If so:
Update your 2011 to the latest version of Mavericks and place your SSD in an external and do this:
Move your data to a new Mac - Apple Support
Then insure that your internal is bootable and reinstall Mavericks on your SSD.
    http://macs.about.com/od/Mavericks/ss/How-To-Perform-A-Clean-Install-Of-Os-X-Mav ericks-On-A-Macs-Startup-Drive.htm
This will be a clean install and all data will be erased.
"The OS X Mavericks Installer, available from the (Apple Store)"
    No longer true.
Apple will want you to update to Yosemite but I'm currently not recommending that.

  • Brand new Macbook not connecting to Belkin Router!

Hi, I am at my wits end here seriously. I've read countless posts from everywhere on people having trouble with the Macbook and it not connecting to their router.
My situation: I bought my Macbook 5 days ago, brand new. So whatever the latest versions of everything is, however it is still running Tiger, but I am waiting on Leopard in the mail.
I have a Belkin router(I'm at work so I don't have it with me to check the correct model number but it looks like it would be F5D5231-3 (it's about 3 years old). Now my Macbook recognises the router, however it will not connect. I've spent the last 4 nights on the phone to Belkin, Apple and my ISP, and I'm going to have a breakdown because no one has been any help.
Anyway, I went to a cafe last night to use their hotspot wireless internet, and I connected to their internet just fine. I have tried everything Belkin, Apple and my ISP has told me to do and nothing has worked. I had an iBook when I first got my router and it connected just fine, I didn't have airport but I had a wireless d-link USB device. Why oh why is my new Macbook causing me so much trouble?? I've wasted so much time being bounced around from one useless person to the other... I just need some help or suggestions.
Also, there is a desktop PC and two PC laptops in the same house which connect fine to the router.
Please anyone who is able to help me I will be eternally grateful. The thing is I really don't need the internet as my partner has a laptop with internet, but I want everything working. I want to have my own laptop with my own internet connection and to stop wasting time messing around with settings and everything.
Thanks for hearing my rant. Please don't hesitate to give me some advice!

Would the problem be that my router is 'g' and 'b' based? I notice that the new Macbooks airport are 'n" based. But even so, I'm sure the cafe I went to wasn't 'n'. If I have to buy a new router I will, but would rather not if I can get this router to work.

  • My new V570 not powering up

    Hi All
I have bought a new lenovo v570 IdeaPad,It is just 3 months since I had bought that and now it is not powering on.
I bought it a he US and have now moved o INDIA for good and this model is not supported in INDIA.
Any suggestions how I can get this rectified.

    Hi Aslam,
No power on at all? No HDD sound, no LEDS nothing?
Have you tried using an alternate power cord & AC adaptor?
Does your current adaptor have any reaction when plugged in?
When did this issue begin and are you using some sort of power/volt converter now that you have moved.

  • How can I move my old messages from my PC to my new Macbook (not the profile, just the messages)?

I have used Thunderbird for years as I am a business owner who needs to keep a copy of old emails. I have just changed from a PC to a Macbook pro, and want to move all my old archived messages from the past 2 or 3 years to my Mac, including non-archived messages (Sent & Trash) from this year. I have already created my profile in the new Mac, and have been using it for the past couple of weeks. (By the way, this is a POP mail profile.) Now I just want to move the old messages over. Which exact files do I copy and paste, and into which folders? If the folders do not yet exist, I guess I need to create them first. But where on the Mac? I have found (on my old PC) the "Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/username/ directory with Archives and Trash subdirectories. But each directory seems to have a name (like "Inbox", or "Sent" or "2013") and another file with the same name, but an ".msf" suffix (like "Inbox.msf" or "Sent.msf" or "2013.msf"). Thanks in advance to any who can help.

The file structure is a little complex. I will use inbox as an example.
Inbox (a large file with no file extension)
Inbox.msf ( An index of inbox with tags etc. Can be deleted with only loss of tags)
Inbox.sdb (a folder, indicating that the folder within Thunderbird has a sub folder.
    POP mail is stored in
    Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/[Server name]/
    Local folder is stored in
    Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/Local Folders/
As long as you do not overwrite, you can copy and paste whole folder trees into local folders (stuff on your old computer under a mail account is best relocated to local folder and then sorted as necessary afterwards.
Note that you should delete foldertree.json after making those sorts of copies (it forces a full refresh of the folder tree, no cache) and under no circumstances copy data with Thunderbird running. It can irrevocably corrupt things

  • New MacBook not sharing

I have an IMAC, which I've been sharing on my home network. I've been able to see the PCs on the network and the PCs have been able to see me - and share files both ways.
I just got a MacBook to replace one of the PCs. I created a user, got everything setup, connected to the internet via the home network. I can see the IMAC from the MB under shared, however I can't see the MB when looking under shared on the IMAC. I know the AFP address, and can access it that way, but I can't figure out why it doesn't show up as shared. I believe I have set everything the same as on my IMAC, so I am stumped.
I've been telling my wife how easy a MAC is, and now I finally got her one and I have this issue.
I've look everywhere, but couldn't find anything on this - can anyone help?

I just realized that the new MB had 10.5.6 and the IMAC has 10.5.5.
I just updated the IMAC to 10.5.6 and pow, the MB appeared on my IMAC.
So apparently both computers had to have the same OS version.
Problem solved, in case it happens to anyone else.

Did you repair permissions and restart your computer after the installations?

  • New MacBook USB Question

    Hi Guys,
I'm building a new portable studio.
    I'm used to firewire gear.
I want to get a new MacBook (not Pro)
and use a Tascam US 1641 with a Presonus D8 to have 16 ins.
Since the new MacBook's don't have Firewire, I will need an external USB 2.0 HD for recording.
    My question is this.
Can I record 16 tracks in at 24 bit 48 to the USB external Drive?
Tascam plugged into one port, HD plugged into another.
What is the track count for a USB 2.0 7200 RPM drive?
    What limitations can I expect?
    Thanks so much.

    Ok,
So after running some tests myself, both of you guys were right.
The USB bus can't handle both the External HD and the Tascam.
    Bummer.
However, what about the MacBook internal drive?
If I were to replace it with a 7200RPM could it handle 60 tracks at 24/48?
You will have to find someone with personal experience to answer that one. A Laptops bus system isn't as robust as a desktop and that's a lot of tracks. The other problem is heat, a faster drive runs hotter, the new Macbooks are small and can get pretty warm from just the nvidea graphics processor.
Have you been over to the Alu Macbook forum?
Also, the new MacBooks have the GeForce 9400M in them.
Do you think that Snow Leopard will take advantage of that card and help with > running Logic?
    Very doubtful.
Not trying to be negative here but I think you will have a difficult time trying to get what you need (reliably) from one of the new Macbooks.

  • USB not powering external drive on new macbook pro

My new macbook pro retina display is not powering an external 750GB GDrive moblie. Is anyone having this problem?

It seems as if a number of people are having problems with the USB 3.0 ports on the 2012 MBP's - particularly when it comes to external storage devices.
As you  don't have a FW800 port (or, yet, an adapter) the best thing you can do is either return it to your local Apple Store and see if they know of a 'fix' (which I doubt - someone would have posted that by now), whether it's only occurring with some MBP models, and you can always file a bug report with Apple: https://bugreport.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/RadarWeb.woa/wa/signIn - you must sign in with your Apple ID.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there have been quite a few people posting here with the same problem.

  • Will Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 + Firewire 1814 work ok w new MacBook Pro?

I have Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 that I have never been able to use and an M-Audio Firewire 1814 and it has also not been working with my soon-to-be junked PC for quite some time.
I'm going to scrap my entire system and go back to Mac and buy the new MacBook Pro for the express purpose of using it with my Firewire 1814 running Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 (or an upgrade if there is one and I'm eligible to get it...?).
There are so many confusing instructions and tips out there and I just wanted to ask someone knowledgeable BEFORE I go out and spend $2,800 (that I don't have to begin with) that the laptop WILL indeed work with the above-described interface and software. I realize these are questions for M-Audio and Digidesign also (and I have asked), but in any case, I'm hoping you nice folks out there might lend me your expertise as well if you can spare a moment.
I did read on Digidesign's site that an external firewire drive or two would be ideal in use with Pro Tools M-powered. I haven't investigated enough to yet know how many firewire ports are on the top-tier new MacBook Pro, but I'm hoping it's enough to accommodate my 1814 interface and the externals recommended. (Or if you have knowledge/solutions/recommendations I'm all ears... help!).
If you know of any reason I shouldn't buy the laptop for use with the 1814 and Pro Tools M-Powere 7.3 as listed above, PLEASE tell me. I have an entire, very expensive PC system that for the better part of a year, has sat dormant because I can't get it to work with the interface and software without it creating noise and clicks. And no one was able to help me resolve this no matter how much noise I made and research I did trying to resolve the problems. And Pro Tools would always shut itself down at random during use despite the fact I have tons of RAM, disk space, a 2.13 GhZ processor, etc.
My hope is that a new (and portable-- something I also really need-- I plan to use this for performance as well with Ableton or similar... also interested in any information or opinions with regard to using the new MacBook Pro for that as well) Mac will resolve this...
That I'll just plug it in and everything will magically and easily work. I'd love to hear this is so. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your expertise.

    orrisimo,
I, personally, do not have experience with this, but I have a friend who uses Macs exclusively, running Protools with a MOTU box. He does this professionally, not as a "hobby," and he is very knowledgeable about all the ins and outs.
As far as I know, he has absolutely no problems with Protools, ever. I recall that he did have to hold off a bit in upgrading to Leopard because of initial incompatibilities, but all that is in the past. He uses an old iBook (still), an Intel iMac, and more recently a Mac Pro powerhouse, all with no problems.
I would expect that everything will work seamlessly, provided you get word from the various support people that your versions and models are all compatible. If you want me to ask my friend about anything or get definitive confirmation from him, I would be happy to do so when I see him next. Let me know.
The newest 15" Macbook Pro comes only with a single Firewire 800 port. All the ports have been moved to the left side of the casing, so space is at a premium. FW 400 devices can be connected using an adapter cable, but there is still just that one port. If you go with a 15", you might need an Expresscard FW card to connect your FW drives (not a bad idea, anyway, since even older multi-port MBPs use just one controller).
The current 17" Macbook Pro has not yet been updated to the "unibody" construction, and still has both a FW 400 and a FW 800 port (again, FW 400 devices can be connected to an 800 port with an adapter). What the future unibody update will bring to the 17", we do not know.

  • My brand new Macbook pro can't power my USB Mbox 2 pro . Why not?

Can ANYONE help me because it seems like both APPLE and AVID can't. I just got a new macbook pro last month Aug/2011 just for audio and production. I installed protools 7.3 and when plugging my Mbox in the power lights on it are very dim and Protools says Unable to locate digidesign hardware. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and better yet how I can fix it? I tried diiferent USB cables, different USB ports, I tried connecting through an AC powered USB hub, I also have a crap PC on which the same software was installed and it works fine on that. Right now my mac OS is Lion 10.7.1.

Yeah, I just posted about the exact same issue.  I have an Imac and another Macbook Pro and it works fine, just not on the mew Macbook Pro.  I'm baffled, but intend to go to the Apple store to check this out.  If I get anywhere, I will report back.
