New MacBook Pro 13 i5 Wireless Issues.

I got the new MacBook Pro i5 2.3 the day it came out. So maybe a week and half ago.
I`m having intermittent wireless issues. I have done some testing and even replaced my older AirPort Base Station with the new Dual-Band one, but still seeing a drops from the network. I have a ping going to my router and to the ABSE. I tried changing the channel and using 5GHZ or 2.4GHZ. I also have a AirPort express and seen similar results. I tried reseting the PRAM, repairing permission, I did not reinstall the OS but I dont see how this would help. I think there is a hardware issue with the wireless card/antenna.
I did upgrade RAM and HDD was changed to SSD (intel G2 SSD). There are no other issues, machine is fast, no lock ups. Other devices on the network do not seem to drop any connections (ATV, ATV2, iPhone4, iPad etc..)
The network drop outs are short but are noticeable and if a ping is going I can see the drops
*-- 192.168.1.1 ping statistics ---*
*1527 packets transmitted, 1505 packets received, 1.4% packet loss*
*round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.779/12.203/396.084/42.274 ms*
Any help is appreciated as I`m really frustrated but this issue.

Here are some of the pings.

  • Need Help Connecting New MacBook Pro with Wireless Network Password

    Hi Linksys Community,
I would like to ask for your help and advice.
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro, OS X, Version 10.8.3.
I need to setup a password to the wireless internet network (I've successfully done this)
    I have a Wireless G,  WRT54G Router.
When I setup the password, I'm not able to connect to the internet with my new MacBook Pro, which is running Mac OS X Version 10.8.3.  I get the message 'cannot connect to Internet, connection timeout) However, I'm able to connect to the internet with an older MacBook Pro, and my iPad. The password works fine with other models.
Would anyone be able to help me troubleshoot what is going on, or how I can solve this problem?
I would like to be able to have a password on my network, and use the internet with my new MacBook Pro.
I have read about manually adding in the MAC address of computers, and setting up a Wireless MAC fiter.
Does anyone think this would solve the problem?  if so, how can I find out the MAC address of my MacBook Pro?
Thanks in advance for you help and time!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
Yes, my computer connects when your network is open (no password set)?
    I used WPA Pre-Shared Key.
Do you know how I could check if my new MacBook Pro is compatible with this?
    Thanks!

  • New Macbook Pro Wifi connection issues

I just bought a new Macbook Pro. When I try to connect to my wireless router I get a "Connection Timed out" message. It won't connect. In order to connect I have to go to Network Preferences and Select "Diagnostic". After following the steps I can type in my password. It says the password is "invalid" though I know it is correct and then it connects anyway.! I must go through this process everytime to log on. Very annoying. Any solutions?

After taking it in to the tech department, I gave up on them and opened it myself. Re-seated the connection from the Superdrive to the main board, and it works fine.

  • New Macbook Pro Retina Display Issue

    Hi,
I just purchased a new Macbook Pro, 15" Retina Display, 16Gb Ram, 2.3Ghz and finally got my hands on it last week after more than 5 weeks of waiting.
I have a issue for which I wasnt able to find anything on either Google, or this or any other forum.
At one point, after succsessfully installing windows 7 through Bootcamp, I got a set of 4 differently colored vertical stripes going along my MBP screen, starting with a very dark blue stripe on the far right, purple slightly thicker, then a copy of the first blue stripe and at last the thickest stripe which is sort of a very transparent black overlay (around 10% black overlay).
I can think of nothing, deleted windows, it's partition & all that (not that I would've made a difference but I'm kinda desperate). I am including a screenshot (in which everything looks normal even though the stripes are there) and a photo I just took with my iPhone.
The 4 stripes now turned into 2 (at least visibly). the transparent one and the 3 colored ones joined together as black.
Anyone ever got a similar problem?

  • New MacBook Pro, Hard Drive Issue.

Alright. I'll try to provide as much info as possible here.
My old MacBook is a 13 inch Late 2008 MacBook Aluminum (non-pro) Unibody.
I just bought a new MacBook Pro, 13 inch, 2.9GHz, 750GB Hard Drive.
I had upgraded my old MacBook to a 1TB hard drive (Samsung HM100UI). I'd like to keep that old hard drive and use it in my new MacBook. However, every time I put that 1TB hard drive in my new computer, I get the "no entry" sign.
    I've tried..
Booting into the partitioned recovery mode.
Booting from a Lion Restore CD.
Reinstalling Lion on my old MacBook with the old hard drive and then putting the old hard drive in the new computer.
Formatting the entire hard drive (one-pass (on the old MacBook)) and putting it in the new computer (Then trying 1 & 2 again)
Resetting the PRAM, NVRAM, and SMC multiple times on both computers.
Every single time, I get the "no entry" sign.
Does anybody know what I can do to make this drive work in the new MacBook?
    edit: added #5

You can't just take that drive from the older system and install it in the new system. Even though both run Lion the Lion install on the older system does not have the correct driver set for the new hardware. In fact Apple came out with a newer version of Lion Just For these Newer System.
It may now be on the Apple servers bot it wasn't a few days, 5-12, ago..

  • New macbook pro but some issues

so i got this lovely Macbook Pro on Monday, and it was behaving very nicely until now. i typed something using the trial version of iWork, which allows you to print, and wanted to print it out. the printing was to be done through the network through bonjour. i had not set that up yet so i quickly (time was very much of the essence) set up bonjour in iChat, and then went back into Pages and selected the printer. Pages then "unexpectedly quit". tried again, and again. no go. i guess because it was a trial version i couldn't print save as a Word file, so i pasted it into text edit, again tried printing (quit out again, just tried it as i was typing this and when i go to File > Print i get a beachball, 100% on the fans, and another "unexpectedly quit") and emailed it to myself and printed it out on the PowerMac that was connected to the printer. Only then did it finally work. Keep in mind that printing on the network has never previously been a problem with the other two computers.
Now for the fans, upon restart the fans are going all out for some time even after log in, i suppose that's normal. there are times when the fans will go really high for no apparent reason, the highest CPU consumption being Safari at 8% i remember it being at one point. i thought this batch was supposed to be quiet. Sometimes the high fans seem to have something to do with Youtube, whenever i have a window open with Youtube the fans gradually get louder and louder.
And lastly Safari. I often keep a bunch of windows open, some with flash video, others just regular windows, and some more with ads dotted all over them. the windows i keep open for as long as i feel like it, i get to reading them when i can. i don't remember what specific sites i'm on, i think one time it has been myspace, another time some gaming site, but i'll get a slow loading page and finally a beach ball and an "unexpectedly quit" message. i thought it may have to do with an SIMBL Plug-in for safari called ForgetMeNot, which opens the windows you had open when you closed Safari. i looked at the SIMBL itself and it said universal, shouldn't be a problem right?
    Pleaaase help. Thanks in advance.

I bought my MBP C2D 15" 2.33 stock from my local Apple reseller and have had no problems with it at all.
I would suggest the fan issue you are experiencing is down to a software issue, have you tried running your installation disc and reinstalling a new boot image (clean install)? I always run clean installs incase any damaged has occured to the pre-installed software during transit.
Give it a go and report back

  • New MacBook Pro to HDTV issue

    Hello there,
I'm simply having the problem where I am not allowed to go more than or less than 1360 x 768. If I go lower or higher, the colour of the screen just turns absurdly bright and I've tried taking a screenshot from that and it seems fine when I am back on the only resolution that I am allowed to be on. Furthermore, the top of my screen flickers whenever there is movement on the screen. Finally, I want to be able to use 1080p.
I am raising this issue due because my MacBook Pro Dual Core (2004) was able to run off DVI to HDMI without any problems and I am now disallowed and annoyed by this new issue. By the way, I am using the Moshi HDMI Video and Audio input to HDMI on my LED TV.
Please help me on this issue. Thanks.

By the way, the only reason why this display is accepted is because it's running on 105Hz instead of 50/60 Hz. I have tried it on another HDTV (LG) and the same issue was there. Is there a way where I can run my MacBook Pro on 50/60 Hz? It would be great because it seems like Steam games only allow me to run on lower refresh rates.

  • New MacBook Pro Headphone Jack Issues

Hi, I just got my MacBook Pro barely a week ago and I've noticed an issue when using headphones or external speakers when plugged into the headphone jack. It seems that the computer won't recognize that I have something plugged into the jack, sound just keeps playing through the laptop speakers and not the device connected. I can duplicate this at will:
Play music through headphones plugged into computer, hit pause. Disconnect headphones and play music through laptop speakers, pause music again and connect headphones. Hit play, and the sound continues to play through the laptop speakers and not the headphones... The only way I can remedy this is my restarting my machine (PITA) or by shutting the lid and waking the computer up. (Still a PITA) Is there a fix for this? I'm updated to the most recent version, 10.6.8 . I never had this issue with my old MacBook Pro pre unibody. I've read elsewhere that another solution is to go into System Preferences > Sound and click "Output" and change the setting "use adio port for" from "sound input" to "sound output" I don't even have those settings listed in my Output tab... Please help!

Well, the issue has been resolved. The solution was to reset the SMC/PRAM. I thought about doing this but I didn't think I would need to on a brand new computer . At least its back to working order and I didn't have to be without my machine.
To anyone with this issue, just reset the SMC/PRAM

  • MacBook Pro C2D Wireless issues after 10.4.10 -  issue pin pointed !

I have a MacBook Pro C2D which has started to do random disconnects from my WLAN.
I am running the latest Tiger 10.4.10
No matter if I use the network connection actively by surfing, chatting, listening to netradio, downloading or if it is just idle, it randomly disconnects. Sometimes after 30 mins, sometimes after several hours.
It never reconnects it selves until I do it manually. But then it has no problem reconnecting.
It is quite annoying, especially since I sometimes run services like a web server (for development reasons) and sometimes want to download large files using either http, ftp or bittorrent. But I cannot trust it to finish the downloads, as it randomly disconnects.
It haven't always done these things. It has started occurring after the last couple of updates from Apple I think (don't remember excatly when).
I have 3 different accesspoints with different wireless chip sets, but it occurs on all of them. Also I have a couple of PC Laptops that dosn't have this problem on my network.
I pinned my issue to one specific setting in my wireless router.
In WPA mode, this setting affects the stability of my link:
    ReAuthentication Timer
It is normally set to 1800 secs (30 mins) - and this makes my MBP disconnect every - yes - 30 mins...almost. Sometimes it tend to survive the interval.
The valid range is 10-9999 seconds in my router.
If set to 10 secs, it almost disconnects all the time - every 10 secs.
If set to 9999 I can work some hours without disconnects (my guess is 9999 secs, or 166 mins).
It seems like some update from Apple in the 10.4.10 release, efficiently broke the WPA encryption implementation of ReAuthentication.
It makes no difference to switch between WPA and WPA2.
Has anyone found a way to fix this from the OS X end, instead of compromising security on the Access Point end?

Whilst I don't personally have the same problem reported here, that's a pretty offensive reply.
You might want to spend a bit of time here
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1135&start=0
and let these people know that they have the best router in the business and that all their computers are working great before advising people to forget about trying to get to the root cause of an issue and spend a load of money instead.
I got a bit frustrated with a post on this forum a little while ago and posted a snotty reply. The original poster called me on it and told me that I didn't have to reply, once I thought about it, I realised the OP was correct and apologised.
Are you big enough to do the same?
    Best of luck.

  • New MacBook Pro C2D Startup issues

    Hi,
I have my MBP for 3 weeks now and normally leave it on all the time (on and off the AC) For the most part it will wake up from sleep just fine.
In the last 3 nights I turned the MBP off before I went to sleep.
When I tried to boot in the morning the machine makes the regular DVD noise but it will keep doing this noise for 3 times, the light on the front will turn on but the machine will not start. There is also no startup chime. No video. When I pressed the power button to turn it off and then on, it will do the same.
I had been thrugh nightmare with a first generation MB so I had an idea on what to do -- I reset the PRAM and it starts fine.
This has been happening 3 mornings in a row. (I don't have anything connected to the MB other then the AC adapter.
I repaired permissions, went throguh the hardware test, took the battery out, checked the Apple website for firmware updates, and although there was firmware update 1.2 for MBP on 11/13, after launching it, I get a messge that tells me that my computer doesn't need the update.
I get all kinds of weird behaviors and the MBP will become very slugish... the highlight was today while burning a DVD in Toast none of my applications will launch, every application I would click on the dock will just bounce about 20 times and then stop. I couldn't even relaunch the Finder and ended up pressing the power button to force it to shut down. mind you, It restarted fine.
I read in one OLD thread here on the Apple forums that someone had similar problems with a MB and it was resolved by the firmware update.
Does anyone has similar issues or have any idea why my machine will act like this? I rather try to resolve it myself before I call Apple care or go to the Apple store.

    MacBook Pro C2D   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks for the response.
Yes, I reinstalled the OS (clean install)
The issues with starting up in the morning still consistant.
It appears that if I shut down and restart right away, there is no issue- it's ok, but if the machne is off for awhile it will not boot on the first time.
I left my MBP off all day and took it to the Apple store after work.
The MBP will not reboot at first which really surprised the guy who claimed to be head technician. He kept insisting that's it's a 3rd party software issue, and I was saying, how come a 3rd party software will affect the booting of the computer? ( you can't even here the chime!)
He suggested that I will go home and clean install OS X again, and this time not to install anything else on it. The test is on. I did a clean reinstall. The machine will be off tonight, and we'll see what will happen in the morning!

  • New Macbook Pro Optical Drive Issues

Okay. So I'm new at college, and had to buy a computer from the University, which I did. I got a Macbook Pro, because I really do like the Mac OS much better. However, I am having constant problems with my Optical Drive. When I first got it, the drive wasn't even recognized in the System. So I turned it in to the Help Desk, they say it works, I get it back and it doesn't. So, I opened it up and re-seated connection to the board and it works. I burned a couple CDs, installed printer, etc it's all working.
Now, for some reason, the drive is constantly doing something when nothings even in there. It's constantly making noises and such, and it will freeze my computer every couple minutes, locking me out. Even while I'm typing this, it's constantly freezing and stuff. When I put a disc in, it's not recognized. I just checked in the Profiler and now the drive isn't seen anymore. What's going on?? Please help!!

After taking it in to the tech department, I gave up on them and opened it myself. Re-seated the connection from the Superdrive to the main board, and it works fine.

  • Is it true that the new MacBook Pro retinas got issues with latency?

I'm thinking of ordering the late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch, with 2.6 Ghz, 16GB RAM , 512SSD
I'm gonna use it mainly for live keys sounds using mainstage, logic, omnisphere, ableton etc. After reading a forum, I found that the new macs are pretty bad with latency, is this gonna be a big problem...suggestions?

We don't know. Anything you see on a rumor site like Apple Insider is just that - rumor. No one knows when new models will be released until Apple makes a public announcement. If you wish to base your decisions on the rumor mill then do so, but we cannot tell you whether they are valid or not.

  • New macbook pro 15 screen issue (blue-ish)

    hi
just got a brand new mbp from apple store...got it friday
everything is great but the screen is slightly on the blue tint side
i tried the calibration but it only makes it worse
i also downloaded all the updates from apple
i'm going to an apple store monday but is there a quick fix until then?
    thanks

Probably not. It sounds like a display failure. More specifically a sub-pixel error. Every pixel on your display is made up of 3 sub-pixels that are red, green, and blue. These are then switched on and off in various combinations to create the different colors. Sounds like on yours, the blue sub-pixels aren't being turned off like they should be.

  • How do I transfer my data to my new macbook pro using an external hard drive?

I've already set up my new MacBook Pro is my issue. It asked me if I'd like to "Migrate" my stuff or use an external hard drive etc but at the time I didn't transfer my data from my old MacBook yet. I was going to manually do it later as I had to wait for my External hard drive to back my old Mac up. Now it's that time and I have no idea how to do it. I believe I've researched best of my ability.
I feel like I'm asking a pretty dumb question. If I were to just drag all my programs out like my Adobe Suite on to my new macbook pro would that work? I feel like that's just too easy and incorrect. Please and thank you.

The Adobe suite can be downloaded free, you dont have to copy it at all, under standard CS6 Adobe rules, if you own the suite, you get 2 computers "activated at any one time"  Make sure, if youre not using the older computer, you deactivate the software under the HELP menu in Adobe.
format the new drive in disk utility ......APPLICATIONS.....UTILITIES.....DISK UTILITIES.......select the external drive and format (if its new and empty!!!) under the ERASE button with Mac OSX extended journaled
copy all your important stuff from older computer , pics, files, documents, personal anything.
most of you apps, i ASSUME you bought in the (other than Adobe software, or Office suite, etc etc,..... obviously) in the MAC APP store, so you can reload them on the new computer without copying them , makes things very easy......just open APP STORE, and download what you already bought.
really the only important things , is copy all important work files, documents, pictures, personal ABC...XYZ......  obviously.
the migration is about emails, contacts, etc etc etc, also data, just because you passed it by at the time doesnt mean you still cant do it,    go to the SEARCH at menu at top and type in MIGRATION ASSISTANT  to do it again , since you passed it by at first .
the only thing you NEED / SHOULD copy is all your personal stuff........Applications need to be reinstall from either ONLINE download,.......or from the MAC APP STORE,........  you cant just copy the apps over (in most cases) and toss them onto the new computer
Nahh, there are no dumb questions, just dumb mistakes because you DIDNT ask any questions, and we all make those here and there.

  • Wireless issues with my new Macbook Pro

Just bought a new Macbook Pro, straight out of the box. Works fine with ethernet but wireless it only works in the same room as the router. Elsewhere in the house it won't connect. My other macbook and Macbook air seem to have the same setup and work everywhere around the house. What would make the new Macbook Pro not work on wireless?

    I've a Macbook Pro 15 intel & a Powerbook 17 powerPC
the Powerbook 17 connects to the Airport WiFI always the Macbook Pro 15 did not.
Noticed at work the Macbook Pro 15 always connected to the WiFI (Cisco?) the router is in the ceiling
Moved my Airport WiFI at home UP towards the ceiling (on a higher shelf-better if you could place in ceiling) was on a low shelf
Now Macbook Pro connects always connect through Airport router
My hunch ---> Macbook Pro same antenna issues as the iPhone 4 is experiencing
