New macbook pro can't find wireless printer

I have an HP1320nw, configured to run wirelessly through a linksys E1000 wireless router.
my wifes windows box can print to it ... and I can print to it via USB. But when I try and add it as an IP printer, my mac can't see it.
also ... A ping on the windows box works ... a ping on the mac times out
any ideas ?

If the Ping from the Mac times out then that explains why the Mac does not see the printer. But note that you never see a printer when adding it via the Add Printer > IP pane. A printer will only be seen if it supports a broadcasting protocol like Bonjour and if it does it will appear in the Add Printer > Default pane.
So working on why the Mac cannot ping the printer, the most likely is the Mac is set to a different subnet to the printer. If you make a note of the IP address used by the Mac, the PC and the printer, they should all be set to the same IP subnet. For a home network this is typically the first three sets of numbers in the IP address. The last number is known as the network address, and each device must have a different network address.
So if the PC and printer have an IP address of 192.168.1.x, where x is the individual network address for each device, then the Mac must also be set to 192.168.1.x.
The other thing to check is the Gateway / Router address. This will be the IP address of the Linksys router and this should also be set in the Network settings on the Mac.
If the Mac is correctly set then are you able to ping the Linksys router or the PC?

Just got new macbook. It is connected to the wifi network (can see the internet etc). I have added the printer in via the preferences pane using a cable so that I could see the printer. It printed via the cable. Took the cable out, can still see the printer in the preferences pance (I set it up as default) BUT macbook can't find the printer to print to it. What have I not done??? Or what have I done wrongly?????

You would need to get the IP address of your printer then manually add a network print queue.
To get the IP address, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Network Setup > TCP/IP > View/Set IP address.

My new macbook pro can't find my Belkin network

My new Macbook Pro is recognizing all sorts of newtorks in the area except the one in my home. I have a Belkin N+ wireless router which I know is working because two other computers (pc) and my wife's iPad are having no problems connecting. This is a frustrating start for a hesitant pc-->mac transition. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just finished trying the suggestion from my Mac store "genius", and it WORKED. He suggested that I connect to the router directly with ethernet. His thought being that once my MBP found the IP address it would be able to find the network wirelessly. While still connected I went to System Preferences/Network, selected WI-Fi and entered the network info (name & password). There it was - connected.
Don't know how to make this solution available to everyone with the same problem. If someone knows how, go for it.

New MacBook Pro can't find the base station

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and AirPort Extreme Base Station. My house is wired for Ethernet so I plugged the Airport Exteme into one of the Ethernet outlets and did the set-up using my old iMac G5 over the network. (I had to download the latest software for the AirPort Extreme to the iMac before this would work right.) I finally got to the point where I got a green light on the Base Station, but when I search with the AirPort Utility on the MacBook Pro it can't find it, even when it is physically only 3 feet away. I then plugged the MacBook Pro into the AirPort Extreme with an Ethernet cable and it saw it - no problem. I then downloaded all the software updates to the MacBook Pro, restarted, unplugged the Ethernet and tried again. The AirPort Utility still can't find the Base Station. I am running 10.4.10 on both machines. I have 10.5, but don't plan un updating until I get this to work. I spent about half an hour listening to Muzak while trying to get to support and finally gave up. Any suggestions?

In another Mac OS X user account. Choose Log Out from the Apple menu and log into it. If you want to move them over, drag them to /Users/Shared/.

New MacBook Pro can't find time machine

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and I want to restore my system from a time machine back up located on a Time Capsule. I am attempting to do this using the Set-Up Assistant. The process is as follows. I select from Time Machine or other disk and click continue. On the Select the Source screen, my Time Capsule shows up. I click continue and on the next screen the new MBP can not find a source as there is nothing listed in the source box. It continues to search but will not find my time capsule. When I click the Back button, I see my Time Capsule appear for an instant before it shifts back to the previous screen. My MBP is connected to my Time Capsule via ethernet cable and there is web access using that cable.
I don't know what to do. Any suggestions will be great. Thanks.

You don't want to do that by copying.
Your best bet, by far, is to use Setup Assistant. If your Mac is running Snow Leopard, see Using Setup Assistant on Snow Leopard or Leopard.
If it came with Lion, it's a bit different: Using Setup Assistant on Lion

New MacBook Pro can't 'find' my Windows notebook

Hi, I got a new MacBook last week and I tried to transfer all my files from my notebook, which is running on windows, to it. They are both using the same WiFi connection yet I left it for ages and it still couldn't 'find' it. Does it take a long time to find other computers? Or is there another way to connect the two computers?
Any help is appreciated.

New MacBook Pro can't find my A1314 wireless keyboard

Any thoughts? I've run the Bluetooth set-up assistant until I'm blue in the face, but, although it lists the keyboard as a device, it can't seem to "see" it sufficiently to pair with it. (No such problems with my much older wireless mouse, oddly!) All thoughts gratefully received..

Apple's AirPrint only support specific models while using wired or wireless network connection.
Plugging a printer into a USB port of Apple base is not supported for AirPrint:
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of the Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsules are not supported with AirPrint.
As well you must use AirPrint enabled printers for a such, none of your printers are AirPrint enabled:

Change your router channel. Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router. Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
Unlock the padlock
Locations: Automatic
Highlight Airport
Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

I moved house and got a new wifi provider. My Macbook Pro can't find it sometimes after I close my Macbook which forces me to restart for it to join the network automatically. My macbook pro can't "find" my disc (?!)

I've just got the sims 3 island paradise and I've inserted the disc my macbook pro can't "find it". It asks me to insert the disc for me to be able to play when it's already in!? Why? Please help!!

Call AppleCare (1-1800-APL-CARE) and give then the serial number. They will send you a new copy of the two disks for shippingand handling of $16 each (I think $16 each).

Let me preface this by first stating that I am not technically savvy. Turning a computer on and off is about it for me. So I just purchased the HP 6835, took it out of the box and have been attempting to set it up. Everything appears to work fine by my Macbook Air can't find the printer. New Macbook Pro Can't See Other Macs

My Powerbook and iMac can see each other over the network and do file transfers, but my new Macbook Pro can't. The other computers show up in Bonjour Browser, but when I try to connect to them (either via their computer name, e.g. my-computer.local, or by ip) it can't. It tells me the address is wrong. It can't even ping them, and they can't ping it. It's weird because I can access both the internet and the router settings.

After I did that Airport stopped working. The menubar icon said "Airport not configured" and there were no network interfaces in System Preferences. So I tried just putting the airport prefs back, and restarting. The same thing happened, so I had to put the whole folder back where it was.
