New MacBook Pro doesn't like my Dreamweaver CS3?

Okay DW CS3 was bought back in 2007, so I realise that to hope that is was still supported was a long shot.
The problem is I host the website for my company and I am self taught, I looked at Dreamweaver CC but it is not right for us.
Our customers barely use our website and we only change the news page once a month, if that.  Paying £17 a month seems a little steep.
I have looked at Blue Fish, Quantus and other web dev software and editors but it all seems a bit much for our little site - just five pages...
Is there any software that I can buy outright in one lump sum that will do what I need it to?  I edit in view mode not html or code....
Thanks for any help!

Just bought a new MacBook Pro. Would like to transfer my Waves plugins from My old Hard Drive into my new MBP. Is there a simple way to do this?

    Hi
The easiest and most reliable way would be to download the installer from Waves and re-install.

  • Setting privacy pane to always block cookies on my brand new MacBook pro doesn't seem to work

Setting privacy pane in Safari to always block cookies on my brand new MacBook pro doesn't seem to work. None of the settings seem to make any difference. What gives?

Are you not able to start aperture on your old macbook? If you are able to then you can retrieve your serial number by clicking on 'about aperture'
If not then it's a call to apple as the above posts suggest. I did when I lost mine, bear in mind though, they may ask for your original receipt as they did with me and I had to fax it.

  • HT5172 My new Macbook Pro doesn't recognize my card reader (with a CF card inserted).

My new Macbook Pro doesn't recognize my USB card reader with a CF card inserted.  It works fine on my old Macbook Pro.
Do I need a new card reader?  USB 3 perhaps?
I would appreciate any input that you may have.  Thank you.

Hi, closereaching. Instead of spending 12 hours reinstalling your operating system and getting everything back up to date again, which probably won't accomplish anything, why not buy a $10 USB card reader for your Casio's SD card? Or (more expensive, but a much more elegant solution), an ExpressCard SD card reader that can stay in your computer all the time?

  • MacBook Pro doesn't like my 3rd gen. iPod

Just got a new MacBook Pro (work-issue = no administrator password for me), which replaced a Titanium PowerBook. Tried to hook up and sync my 3rd gen. iPod for the first time, using the Firewire port of course. (Music library has already moved to new machine.)
The iPod doesn't seem to be seen by the MacBook Pro. It doesn't show up in the iTunes source list or on the desktop. The iPod goes into "Do Not Disconnect" mode, then it freezes.
I've seen other people posting with similar or same issues, but no resolution. What could be going on?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Update: I have discovered that if I connect the iPod to the Mac with the Firewire cable only, things work perfectly. If I connect thru the dock with the iPod sitting in it (like I was before), things go haywire.
So I guess the MacBook Pro likes my 3rd gen. iPod just fine. The iPod dock is what it doesn't like.
Weird. Thanks for all your thoughts.

  • Color fidelity and the New MacBook Pro glossy display like iMac

I'm very concerned about the new MacBook Pro display which is glossy like the iMac. Can Apple guarantee precise Color fidelity and correct calibration for Pro users? Aren't glossy glass screens more saturated, deeper Blacks and higher contrasted. Aan Apple answer to this very important question that will draw or throw thousands of Professionals off the new Pro laptop.

Sorry, your comments only confirm the post above. Below is a copy of a comment from Charles Higgins posted to Maintouch. I copied it for posting here (I hope that is legal).
    Charles Higgins
To those who must work in bright, unshaded sunlight, Hoodman makes a pretty good reflection/glare 'hood' (sic) that does its job, except it's godawful ugly and bulky.
To everyone else (designers, photogs, and image editors), who must often work in less than ideal outdoor and indoor environments with their MBP's (including the dreaded airline seat), I feel your pain. I do ALL of these jobs, professionally, am an Adobe Beta Tester, have a Cisco CCNE and independently consult for folks like The University of Massachusetts (all campuses), Smith College, Middlebury College, to name a few, on everything from spec'ing Video, Graphics, and Photography labs to deployment, training, etc...
However - the MBP's screen, reflective though it may be, is my favorite laptop screen so far, and I've tried all brands for a long time. I've owned and professionally used, daily, Mac laptops/notebooks since Wall Street.
If it's a deal-breaker to have a glossy screen, you need to re-examine your techniques for use- how you work, where you work, light sources, etc.- because it's a really good indicator of how accurately you perceive color, brightness and tonality accurately... in other words, under conditions that I get unacceptable glare and reflections on my new MBP's glossy screen (CTO 2.8, 320GB 7200 RPM, new 24" on order, DP to DVI adapter out to 30" Cinema Display in home office), I would be getting unacceptable 'light pollution' onto my matte 30" Cinema Display, or any number of CRT monitors I used professionally in days past (Sony Artisans, Barco, etc.), and that's a good barometer, to me, of whether I have a 'pure' viewing environment for critical color work. Just because one can eke out a good or acceptable image view on a matte LCD MBP screen, doesn't mean you should do color critical, submit billing to client work in that already compromised situation. The matte screen often delivers a 'false sense of security' to those folks who work professionally in graphics, video and image editing. I find, or create, an environment that I can work well in with regard to screen viewing, and that's where, matte LCD screen or Glossy, I can get the best results. If I cannot get that environment, I curse my lack of resourcefulness and do work that isn't color-critical, just as I would with any matte screen Mac notebook LCD. In my long experience, and comparing them to even midlevel CRT monitor screens (Mitsu Diamond Pro 22", etc.) is absolutely no contest. Matte screens have an unacceptably low contrast and brightness, and a more primitive rendering of fine tonal gradations and shadows to blacks. My 30" Cinema Display has some of these same shortcomings, of course - but to a far lesser degree. Still, those shortcomings are there, and for the same reasons. The new, DP equipped 24" Cinema Display is a piece of pro equipment that I look forward to immediately calibrating and putting to work immediately!
The clients I've converted to MBP glossy screens because of the shortcomings of any laptop matte screen BTW, my new MBP has a noticeably better screen than the glossy one on my early 2008 MBP (LED backlit); I calibrated both with Gretag MacBeth calibration hardware. I have been able to hardware calibrate the newer MBP to a tighter tolerance.
Got glare? That's a symptom you're gonna probably get less than accurate results from any screen. Having used matte LCD screens in Mac notebooks for many years, I'll take the new LED backlit glossy MBP screens over anything available so far.

  • New MacBook Pro doesn't recognise external Freecom HHD

Just got myself a brand spanking new 15” MacBook Pro with the i7 processor running (obviously) OS X 10.6.3.
My problem is the machine does not recognise my Feecom 400GB external hard drive (USB). Doesn’t show up in finder or under disk utility. And of course it’s the drive with all my itunes stuff on it.
Strange thing is the drive shows up fine on my black 2008 MacBook (also running 10.6.4) and my old Powerbook, as well as on another PC.
Any ideas what I could try/could be wrong? The new MacBook Pro does recognise some other external usb hard drives I have.
    Cheers,
    Reb

I would try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk instead of just a verify. A verify doesn't do anything and may not report all issues.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.
    After that Repair Permissions.
No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.

  • New MacBook Pro doesn't recognize camera

I just upgraded from my old G4 PowerBook (with iLife 08) to a new MacBook Pro (with iLife 09). I have two cameras, a Nikon D60 and a Casio Exilim Z850. The new MacBook Pro and iPhoto 09 have no problem recognizing the D60... however, the Casio isn't recognized by the new computer/software; all I get is the infinite spinning beachball. My old G4 PowerBook / iPhoto 08 still recognizes the Casio just fine... however, I'm not planning on keeping the G4 PowerBook for much longer; the MacBook Pro was intended to be a replacement. Now I'm just trying to figure out if there's any way to get the new computer to communicate with the Casio. Granted, the D60 is a much nicer camera... but sometimes all you need is a good point-and-shoot that fits easily in your pocket, so I'd like to be able to keep the Z850 if I can find a way to get the new computer to recognize it. Any thoughts?

  • We purchased the three pack of Office Mac version and have installed two copies. We have a new MacBook Pro and would like to install the last version. Can you please assist.

Trying to install the last of three purchased Office MAC licenses for a new MacBook Pro. How do I retrieve info to download on to new computer. I can pull it up on my own MacBook but I already have it installed on this one. Thank you.

You purchased a boxed set, or a download? If it's a box set, look at the box for the license number. If a download, it will have been emailed to you.

Well. Depending how old the iMac actually is, it may not actually be running OSX on it. Then again, I don't know much history about apple as my MBP is the first one I've ever owned.

  • My new Macbook pro doesn't have a start-up disc?

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro and it didn't come with an OS back-up disc. What if I have a problem and need to re-install everything?
How do I obtain a disc if I want one?
    Thanks,

    Then you do the following:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you wish to reinstall without erasing the drive first:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My Brand NEW Macbook pro doesn't seem brand new?!

Hi everyone! I've just received my macbook pro 15" and the condition is concerning me. First of all, there weren't any packaging inside the black box it came with. I opened the black box and there's my laptop. Did you receive your macbook like this too? and the lid doesn't close evenly. The right side starting from front to the back is definitely higher than the left side. Is there any way to verify that this is brand new and not a refurbrished? Thanks so much!

Talk to Apple Care 1 800 275 2273 right away or to Sales Support.
Mine arrived in a brown generic carton box in which the actuall MBP box was padded. Then in the MBP box, there are a top and bottom foam layers and the laptop is in a sleeve sealed with a very thin easy to rip sticker indicator of tampering and when opening the lid you should have found another layer to protect the screen from the keyboard when the lid is closed.

  • New macbook pro doesn't startup all the way anymore

I just bought my Macbook pro 13" 2.53ghz.
I was extremely excited with my new machine because it's my first mac.
But now, 5 hours after unpacking it, I'm getting frustrated.
My mb already froze 5 times and now, when I try to start is, the white/grey screen with the apple logo and the little 'waiting circle' just stays on the screen.
I had this problem earlier today, but when I rebooted my mb without other devices attached (iPod, usb drive and powercord) it worked. Now I tried the same thing with and without other devices attached and it just gives me that stupid white screen with the logo.
Does anyone knows how I can solve this problem and start working with my mb again?
PS: I am not American, so excuse me if my english is not understandable

Here are some things you could try:
    1. Insert the original OS X install disc and reinstall the operating system. If the problem is a software fault, that should fix it. (Once the MBP is running again, you could use Disk Utility to run the "Repair Permissions" and "Verify Disk" routines in it. Disk Utility is in the Applications/Utilities folder.
    2. If reinstalling the OS doesn't work or doesn't help, you could insert the second install disk and boot and run the hardware test program. That will tell you if there' s a hardware failure in your machine.
    Good luck.
One more thing: when you are doing (1) or (2) above, be sure your MBP has the power cord attached and is plugged into line current and not just running on the battery.
