New Macbook Pro/OSX 10.9.1 cursor jumping - how do I fix?

I purchased a new Macbook Pro Retina with OSX 10.9.1 over the holidays. The cursor keeps jumping. My trackpad is on the 2nd to slowest speed and only has tap to click enabled. Any suggestions? Thanks.

At least i'd like to try to reinstall OSX to the same HDD. It seems to be a software problem that occured after a check-up with DiscHelp (idk the specific term in english because I use the dutch version). While 'repairing' an error, a notification came up that said that it couldn't be repaired and that I had to back-up all of my files and reformat the HDD. Since then, if i try to boot up the system, the screen goes black in about 30 seconds.
The only backup I have is the direct copy I made booting up the MBP while pressing 'T' (while connected to another mac using a thunderbolt cable). So now I have a copy of the whole HDD. I tried to find the hidden ~library but i couldn't find it. In this library there are certain files i need to transfer the profile of my email. So yeah it's still readable, but as an external HDD, unfortunately not as a computer.
I really hope you can help me!

If you purchased a computer from another person, you need to wipe it clean. To do this, click on the link - Erasing disks securely

Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.

Go to system profiler and report back the amount of RAM that you have.
Make sure that you have at least 20% of your hard drive free.
Make sure you don't have a lot of items on your desktop as that can slow things down.
Quit applications that aren't responding or you aren't using and won't be using for a while.
~/Library/Caches Quit all applications and delete this folder. Do a regular delete then do a secure erase on all the items that won't delete.
If it only happens with a certain application (Safari for example)...
1. Quit the application (Safari)
2. Open ~/Library/Preferences and find the file for safari (com.apple.Safari.plist).
3. Put the file in the trash. Do NOT empty the trash yet. Open the application and make sure everything's ok. Now you can delete the file. In Mail if you trash the file, you will get rid or your setup.
Make sure that your dashboard doesn't have too many widgets and use Activity Monitor to see what it's using.
There are ways to disable if you want to.
Make sure that all of your software is up to date.
Repair permissions (it can't hurt)
Don't have a lot of login items.
Your internet browser shouldn't have a lot of extensions.

You may need to do a clean uninstall but I would try a simple uninstall and reinstall of Palm software on your PC first. Be sure your device is disconnected from your computer for this process. Open your Control Panel on your PC and then go to Add/ Remove Programs. Remove the Palm (or PalmOne software). Once that is done go to http://www.palm.com/us/support/palmdesktop.html to download and install Palm Desktop.
Hopefully this resolves the issue but if it doesn't let me know. Also, contact me if you have any further questions or concerns about anything.

My Macbook (13" White) that I have had for three years recently had its screen die, and so I purchased a new macbook pro, since I cannot use the screen, how do I go about getting my information off of it such as my iTunes, iPhoto and other documents?

The screen would fade into these weird pastel stripes, and if I pinched the sides a bit it would return to normal, but a few weeks ago it stopped returning to normal. I would like to get my iTunes and iPhoto contents and my documents of various sorts off of it and onto my new macbook pro. A friend of mine removed the hard drive and got the information like it was an external hard drive. Can I do this? I don't know if I can use my migration assistant application because the screen of my macbook won't let me see anything to even log into my username on the computer... Help?

Firewire disk mode.
Plug in a foirewire cable, most likely need a 6pin (400) to 9 pin(800).
on the older machine, boot it up, and hold down the t key
HDD should show up on the new computer.
If you havent booted up the new machine, you could run migration assistant whith the above steps to pull the data off.

My new-ish MBP has a Firewire port, but it's not the old-style one you might be familiar with. Look at the ports for the Firewire symbol (looks like a Y). You will need an adapter to connect an old-style Firewire cable to it. (Yeah, I know there are names for them and "old-style" isn't one of them, but they slip my mind at the moment.)
Alternately, since you should be backing up anyway, do a full backup from the old machine and then import from the backup on the new one. See my Mac Backup Guide* ASAP if you aren't currently backing up!

My MacBook Pro is slower than my older Macbook Pro. What's the problem and how do I fix it?

So I have 2 MacBook Pro's, one fast and one slow. I can't seem to figure out why my older mac is faster compared to my more newer one. The same apps run much slower on my new mac.
Here are the specs for both computers:

As you can see, my older mac should be a bit slower han the newer one. I have all he same apps on each one. The only problem I saw was the newer one had more inactive RAM han the older one. The newer one has been like this for a while, so I reinstalled the OS and the same problem was still occuring.

My simpletech external hard drive shows up in disk utility on one macbook pro but not my other one. how do i fix this???

I have two macbook pro computers. My external HD was reformatted on one of them from a PC to MAC. It shows up just fine on this macbook. The other macbook, I cannot find it. Ive tried in disk utility and Ive tried to see if it was hidden. Cannot access it. What can I do to make it show up?

Mac's with OS X 10.6.4 or earlier can't read exFAT, so if it was formatted with that (or OS X Extended J) ) and the other Mac is running 10.6.4 or earlier or is even older, it can't read the exFAT format or HFS+ format, perhaps only HFS.
You'll have to settlle for FAT32 (MSDOS) with a MBR Partiton map to be fully compatible with all computers, but you can't have over 4GB sized files with FAT32.
You can try OS X Extended, no journaled, just for the Mac's, but MBR with FAT32(MSDOS) would be preferred. PC and Mac of all types.
Before you change anything, remove all the data off the drive first.

New Macbook Pro, OSX 10.4.6, Logic 7.0.1, NI Komplete 3 (with updates)

Okay, the subject line is too long for this one but its meant to outline what I am looking at having very soon and am wondering what problems I am going to see before I dive in. I went ahead and got all the updates for everything I currently have software wise. Basically, I just need to get the Macbook and install everything.
Anyone have any idea what is going to work in this set up and what isn't? What is the "Rosetta" environment on the new Mac Intels? I have read that Logic 7.1 will not work at all under it. I need to know I will have a functional studio before I make this investment.
How many plug-ins are crashing/not working on the new Mac Intel machines?
I do everything with software so this is extremely important to me.

I heard a while ago that EastWest was in the process of developing their own sample player due to all the issues they were having with NI and their Kompakt player. There wasn't any word on when it was supposed to be done, though. You'd think NI would wake up and smell the coffee, but they seem to be content providing subpar players that sometimes play back really good sounds. I remember reading the Kontakt forums over there and the representative from NI that was addressing all the issues with Kontakt was always combative about things and always extremely defensive whenever a bug was brought up. Lots of empty promises, at least from the Kontakt team over there for well over a year, which is exactly why I never purchased it.

I am having issues with my iTunes on my new MacBook Pro Retina. I called about a month-ago to fix my iTunes on my computer, and now when I buy new movies or music it will not let me play it on my computer nor will it download it onto my computer.

As noted a month ago I called apple to fix my iTunes account. Now when I buy songs or music I cant watch, listen, or even download them onto my computer. It keeps giving me this pop-up when I try.
"This computer is already associated with an Apple ID."
"You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 52 days."
I know this computer is associated with an Apple ID, because it's mine, so why can't I watch, listen or download them onto my computer?
They had me reset alot of crap when I called them, so if anyone knows how to possibly fix this before I call Apple and freak out, please tell me!

Check the required specs for the latest version of iTunes and iOS. What kind of Mac computer do you have and what OS does it have on it. Also, what kind of processor do you have, Intel?

MacBook now takes 30-45 seconds to sleep and then wakes by itself later on. Have checked for old printer q's and found none. Operating wirelessly with new apple router off comcast cable modem. Used to sleep immediately and stay until awakened. Any helps?

But it stops *all* processes mid-step, which can leave some of OSX in an incorrect state because of pending internal file updates that were killed. I do not like to use that method if anything else will make it respond. For example, once the computer was not responding when I was using a BT trackpad. I eventually removed the batteries from the trackpad to force it dead, and the release of the BT channel freed the MBP.

The mail app on my macbook pro is preventing me from shutting down, how do I fix this?

The mail app on my computer is open but nothing is displayed on the screen. When I go to shut down a small message appears saying "unable to shut down as mail is still open". However, when I try to close the mail app it won't let me. What do I do?
