New Macbook Pro + Tiger Pre installed Leopard Connectivity Problems!!!

hey guys... well let me try for the 2nd time to post this before it loses connection and crashes!!!!
on Friday i brought a new Macbook Pro 2.2ghz, for the last year i have been using a MAcbook 1.8ghz Core 2 Duo... worked flawless and loved it... but with Leopard out, i decided to take the plunge and move up to the next level and have something with better graphics and more features... so it seemed!
i erased the hdd and installed Leopard, which i had purchased for my Macbook, but decided to hold till i got this...
install went smoothly and got into OS and did the update center... started downloading... fine.... went and got a coffee... came back.... still on the first file of the update donwload.. hmmmmm weird.. normally be halfway or finished by now! i checked the wireless and noticed the send/receive was just hanging.. *not disconnected from the wireless router..* anyway i decided to hard reset the router and let it reconnect so it was fresh.. connected fine... started donwloading again.. same happened... anyway i left it donwload and do its stuff as i saw there was a key chain update which resolved some wireless issues.. great i thought.. Apple must have seen there is a problem and fixed it.. yay!!.......... heck no!
rebooted the laptop after install was done... SAME problem... not only that... i couldnt be on iChat/MSN for more than 5-10 minutes before it decided that it was going to fall asleep and stop doing anything before realizing that ****... someone is still wanting some connectivity.... by that time its disconnected/timed out from server/webpages... Webpages take about 15-30 seconds to load on intermitent basis...
Next is the bandwidth... i usually download between 180-205kb/s in Tiger on Macbook... in leopard im lucky to break the 100kb/s barrier for more than 30 seconds before it goes to 10-30kb/second!!!!!!!!! and upload speed is killed too!!!
i have read through various threads on the boards and have entered different tcp/rwin commands and turned off ipv6 in wireless but still same happens... no airport2 file either to remove..
i'm really annoyed as it seems from wanting to go to a better laptop ive only gone and brought defective hardware which i dont understand why Apple didn't test this prior to release
FIX IT quick please, i feel like taking this thing back... what use is it if i cant browse the internet which is a basic function on any laptop now a days yet vital it works!
maybe reinstalling Tiger is the only option left, there goes a weekend of installing programs/games/updates!!!!! annoyed

cheers for reply dude
will see how this gets on, also changed the channel to 6, see how that gets on..
still seems slow loading pages tho.. test from speedguide from a uk server...

seems ok?
Although RWIN TCP/IP analyzer seems to point out problems...
MTU = 1442
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
MSS = 1402
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65330
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65330
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
515936 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
257968 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
128984 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2613 kbps (327 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 1045 kbps (131 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 45 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON

Most likely won't run SL unless it's one that was released before Lion went public. Color SL gone from new Macs.

  • Trying to set up my brand new MacBook Pro and it does not connect with the wifi network I have selected for this purpose. Nothing wrong with the wifi as both my iPad and iPhone are happily connected. Suggestions for connecting to the wifi network accepted

Setting up my brand new MacBook Pro and it will not connect to the wifi network. Nothing wrong with the network which is happily working for my iPhone and iPad! Suggestions accepted for making this connection.

Fixing this is a two step process:
    1) System preferences > WiFi/Airport ...
... check [√] Ask to join new networks
"Known networks will be joined automatically.
If no known networks are available, you will
be asked before joining a new network."
    2) Remove unwanted networks from the list of "known" networks under
    System preferences > WiFi/Airport > (Advanced) > | Airport/WiFi pane ...
Close the window and save changes. If no joy, do a restart to ensure you are playing under the new rules.

  • I have a new MacBook Pro with iPhoto installed.  I edit photos, mainly photo orientation via rotating, but when I go back to run a slideshow the changes weren't saved and the photo is back to vertical...please help...thanks

I have a new MacBook Pro with Iphoto installed when purchased.  When editing a photo, primarily orientation changes, the slideshow initially displays the photos in proper orientation.  However, after leaving Iphoto and shutting down the computer, and then going back to run a slideshow the photo displays back to its' original orientation, that is, the edit-change was not saved.  Please help...the program information says all edit-changes are automatically save and therefore there is no save command, but my changes are not being saved...thank you for any suggestions...HM

  • Free Upgrade To Lion For New MacBook Pro Shipped With Snow Leopard?

I just bought a brand new MacBook Pro which just arrived last week. It came pre-installed with Snow Leopard. Is there a program, as in the past, to upgrade to Lion for free? So far I have not figured out a way to do this.

  • New MacBook Pro... Leopard?

Was I supposed to have Leopard installed in my new MacBook Pro? My system says I have v. 10.4.10
Sorry for the dumb question. My dad and I got our computers at the same time (feb 08) and when I went to visit him last weekend his display was totally different (dock was 3-D, spaces, etc.)
    Anyone?? thanks!

    Hi ciaostefanel,
Umm, yes all "new" Macs since last October should have Leopard. Where did you get yours from? I assume it wasn't at an Apple store, as they would have least given you an upgrade DVD. There was a Mac OS X "Up-to-date" program that ran last year, but I can't find any info on it now. I would talk to wherever you got your Mac at, and ask them about it.

  • No cd or dvd player on new macbook pro. how to install external software

my new macbook pro with retina display has no dvd or cd player. how could i install any external software that comes in a cd like office for mac or any other type of software

I purchased an external superdrive for this purpose. Apple makes one, and so do others. I suppose you could use a drive in another mac via sharing, if you have the necessary hardware. As for office, you can install that via download - that's what I did.

  • My new macbook pro won't install updates

no prob. If you can figure out how I can get my mail in outlook and my mail app on the iphone to match up, so when I look at it on the mac it shows up as seen on the iphone, that would be awesome, it drives me nuts!

  • New Macbook Pro keeps crashing/freezing when connected through wireless

Recently picked up a new Macbook Pro this past Friday. Everything worked great in the office throughout the day connected via ethernet cable. On the weekend when using the wireless connectivity it kept freezing, until I turned off the wireless and used a cable connection. Everytime I try to use wireless it will freeze up after a few minutes, ball spinning and have to eventually power off and on.
When I use a wired connection did not get the problem even once. Is this a known issue? Does this sound like a hardware problem with the Airport hardware? Since I just got it this past Friday I'm taking it back but in case there is a quick software fix please let me know.
It's a stock Macbook Pro (MacBookPro5,3) with 4 gig and the 2.66Ghz processor.

    HI,
    Try deleting this file.
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    MacintoshHD/Library/Preferences/System Configuration
If you are using a router / cable modem try turning off, wait about 20 seconds and reconnect and restart the Mac. If you are using an Airport Express or Airport BS, try restarting. You could also try a different channel.
Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X.
Select the device you’re setting up, and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.
    Repair disk permissions also.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Why did my brand new macbook pro come with Snow Leopard instead of Lion?

I JUST bought a brand new Macbook Pro assuming that it would come with Lion, but it didn't. My brother who just bought an Air the day before me got Lion with his computer. Shouldn't new computers come with new software? I'm confused. Can anyone help me?

You qualify for a free upgrade if purchased on or after June 6th.  Follow these instructions to download your free upgrade.

  • I have a new macbook pro and just installed latest firefox. The problems is i can't seem to disable the tabs from appearing each time i restart firefox. I did uncheck every box in the peferences tab menu, still can't stop the tabs from appearing.

    New Macbook pro with lion
    Firefox 10.0

    Hi dcast01,
Are you saying that it restores your old tabs when you restart? Have you looked at ''Preferences > General'' to see if Firefox is set to restore your tabs from the last session? You should change it to ''When Firefox Starts: Show my home page''.
Or is your issue that you keep seeing the tab that says "welcome to firefox" when you start the browser? If that's the case, you should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • New Macbook Pro with Lion, installed Aperture - all photos disappear

    Just bought a MacBook Pro:
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1
My old computer crashed so I transfered a folder full of photos to my computer inside of a Documents file.  Some of these photos came from my previous version of iPhoto and some of the were not imported into any program at all.  I want to clean and organize my photos before importing them into any program. I do not wish to create extra clutter on my computer by importing them at this time, being that I have a very clean machine at this time.
So, I got Aperture, newest version (software updated as of this morning) and was planning to import my photos once I organized all of them.
However, now that I've installed Aperture, the folder of my pictures that is located in My Documents is now reading that there are (0) photos, so I can't even organize them.  Also, if I run Aperture and try to import a photo, it doesn't recognize that any photos exist.
Now, if I look up All My Files in the Finder window, it shows that I do infact have over 9k Images, most of these being my photos that are not showing up in their file folder.  Some of these however are not conventional photos but are PDFs that I do not wish to hang out in any photo organizing/editing program.
So, why can't I see my photos so I can organize them via my Finder folder in My Documents when I recovered them from my old computer?
They were never imported into my new computer's iPhoto, nor were they ever imported into my new computer's Aperture.  But I can all of them in the All My Files?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to find my photos, they were strangly refiled in a different file folder.
Seems like Aperture is still having troubles populating the images, but I find if I open and close import, or close and repoen Aperture, then the photos will populate.
    Buggy though for sure.
