New MacBook - Web Fonts Now Appear Digital Style - Fix?

I've been using my MacBook Pro for a couple of weeks. Vaio user for years before now.
Have been downloading lots of free fonts -- many I've used previously, but on Windows.
Couple of days ago all my fonts in e-mail and on most sites started to appear as digital in style. like this arial, WHICH APPEARS THIS WAY ON THE LIST OF FONTS even FOR THIS POSTING. I've used arial for years and it looks nothing like this style (which more closely resembles digital dream).
How can I fix this system-wide? Someone on a forum suggested I download Onyx and clear the font cache, which I don't yet know how to do. I've downloaded Genieo which offers Onyx, but now I can't get rid of it.
Have run Webroot and came up with no malware, viruses or Trojan horses.
Will look at Arial on my fonts list and see if I need to delete it and re-download.
Any other ideas welcome. I don't want to get bogged down in infections this early in my ownership.

Sounds like you have probably downloaded some damaged fonts. You should open Font Book (found in the Applications folder). Select the All Fonts collection, then select any font in the list of fonts and then choose Edit -> Select All (or press command-A). With all fonts selected, choose File -> Validate Fonts. Disable or remove any that are damaged.
Regarding Genieo, sounds like you probably downloaded Onyx from the wrong place. You have to be careful, adware is becoming a serious problem these days, and sites like Softonic and Download.com are adding to the problem by wrapping other people's software in their own adware-riddled installers.
To remove Genieo, which is the most prevalent and worst of all the adware out there, see the Genieo removal section of my Adware Removal Guide. Do not use a Genieo or InstallMac uninstaller, as they will not remove everything. In fact, the InstallMac uninstaller will actually install some components of the adware!
Finally, with regard to anti-virus software, see my Mac Malware Guide. If you decide you want to run anti-virus software, Webroot is not one that I would recommend.

Go step by step and test.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight Internal Speakers / Headphones
    Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2.Plug in and remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
3. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
    Audio Devices window
    Side Bar
    Click the Built-in Output.
    Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

Try booting up in Safe mode (holding down the Shift key while booting). If the software came with an unistaller, use it to remove alll traces of the software - it's nothing that you need and, as you've experienced, can do more actual hard than good (as is the case with most software of this type). When you're booted in Safe Mode, if you can't run an uninstaller, at least check to make sure that there are no Trend Micro items that are set for automatic log in, at least.

You need to use the backup of your PC to transfer all the music files to iTunes on the Mac.
If you have no backup then you have a difficult task ahead of you as iTunes will only allow you to sync purchased music from the iPhone back into iTunes. Any music you loaded into iTunes yourself will not transfer from the iPhone to iTunes, this is to prevent stealing of music. To sync iTunes purchased music from the iPhone to iTunes, connect the iPhone and open iTunes, but when asked do NOT sync the device. then right click on the iPhone in the iTunes source list and select the 'Transfer Purchases' option, you will also find this commend in the File menu.
If you are in the US, you can use the new iTunes in the Could feature to redownload your iTunes purchased music / apps / books for free.
If you want to transfer all the content from your iPhone to you Mac then you will need to use Google to find a 3rd party piece of software that will do this for you.

If you purchased a computer from another person, you need to wipe it clean. To do this, click on the link - Erasing disks securely
Depending on your model Macbook Pro...
Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.

Why do web galleries often appear "digitized"?

I occasionally find after creating a web gallery that it will appear digitized once viewed online, both on PC desktop and laptop.
Recent gallery seemed fine on my La Cie monitor but "off" on my HP laptop. I'm wondering if it's a screen resolution mismatch.
Thoughts?
CS5; Windows 7 - desktop; Vista - laptop; plenty of RAM, etc.

OK you using a non color managed Browser. Color space may be an issue I don't see an option to convert to sRGB but that may be the default mode of operation. I don't use the Bridge for creating Web Galleries IMO bridge's output module is very poor. I think Adobe short changed their users by adding it and removing better features from Photoshop. I use Photoshop to generate HTML web galleries. I installed Photoshop Old Photo Web Gallery support to generate customized HTML web Galleries and I use Photoshop scripts to generate Flash Web Galleries. While the Bridges upload Web Gallery to web server option seems to be a nice option. I would rather do that as a low priority Background Windows FTP job and be able to use Photoshop during the upload for upload web connectios bandwidth is slow and uploads can be long running. Adobe really disappointed me when they added the Bridge's output module and removed better features from Photoshop. With the Bridge
output module you can not customize Web galleries well and its PDF support lacks the abilities of the PDF support they removed from Photoshop and that PDF support can NOT be downloaded from Adobe's web site and installed into Photoshop. If you need the removed support you have to keep two version of Photoshop installed on you system and forget about getting support for the old version you need to have. Adobe's support is very poor and they drop support for old version of Photoshop like a hot potato.

Migrated old back-up to new MacBook Pro, but now new machine doesn't recognize old back-up

So last night I migrated my old back-up to my new MacBook Pro, but this morning my new machine doesn't recognize my old back-up. I'd rather not erase and back-up from scratch for numerous reasons (losing the old data, time, etc).
Any suggestions? I'll bet this is a realatively common issue?

Looking back, at your original posts....it said it needed 774 GB?? is that at all reasonable for a full backup of your system??
Maybe there's something more than meets the eye?
Also maybe we can figure out what went wrong with the tmutil command. It is possible that you may have to use additional options.
But first le's see who owns the old backup....
From the terminal command line try this:
sudo xattr -l "path to your backup"
Where "path to your backup" is tha same path exactly as used in the tmutil command, that is:
/Volumes/"Backups Device Name"/Backups.backupdb/"Backup Name"
You should get something like this for output:

The "BackupMachineAddress" is the MAC address of the Ethernet port your mother board.
You can find the MAc address in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report -> Network -> Ethernet 1
The "HostUUID" is the identifier of your mother board.
You can find it in About this Mac-> More Info. -> System report ->Hardware Overview [that's the first thing that shows when you select System report]
These are the way the connection of the backup to a machine is made.
Now the tmutil inheritbackup comand should have set them to the correct values for your new machine.
But let's' see if any of them match the new machine and then see of we haveany more options.

I transferred/migrated my files from my old 08 macbook 13" notebook to my new Macbook pro and now my Adobe programs and Microsoft for mac are not working. do I have to reinstall the programs?

I have recently purchased a new macbook pro, I had a macbook 13" notebook from 2008 and I trasnferred all of my files using the migration assistant. It said the transfer was completed and everything looked fine. but when I try to open my CS4 photoshop, illustrator, indesign or my microsoft for mac programs they crash. did the files not transfer correctly? do I have to reinstall them? do I need to wipe my mac and start again to clean out all of the transferred files?

If you still have your old MacBook, You can put the software installers in and image the discs using isk Utility and then copy them to your new MacBook Pro via a flash drive and install them from the disc images.
Another option is that you can connect it to your new mac in target Disk mode. Then you can use the DVD drive that is in the MacBook to install the software. To do this you would need a firewire cable plugged into your old MacBook and connect that to a Firewire to Thunderbolt adaptor that is connected to your new MacBook Pro.

InDesign CS4 has issues with Lion. You may need to update to CS5.

Issue with web font not appearing in Phonegap iOS app build.

I have this issue where the webfonts that I have used in Adobe Edge Animate not appearing when i build to a iOS device. I have try various methods of trying to use css to embed the fonts in with font-family and setting class to use the font with but to no avail. Is this due to the javascipt used to define fonts in Adobe Edge Animate that I can't seems to overwrite the fonts used?
Has anyone encounter similar issue? need help to solve this.!

My new Macbook Air is now restarting after leaving sleep after upgrading to OSX 10.9.2.

Did work fine before upgrading.

Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem.
Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, from the menu bar select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy ▹ Privacy ▹ Accessibility
If any applications are listed on the right and have a checked box next to them, uncheck all the boxes and test. You may first have to click the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate as an administrator to unlock the settings.
Step 3
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, if any. Be sure to disconnect all USB hubs. If you use a keyboard or mouse plugged into a hub, plug the devices directly into a built-in USB port and remove the hub. Test.
Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator for this step.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
