New MacBookPro won't pair w/Apple wireless keyboard/mouse

Error message: The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. If you would like to try a different passcode or pairing method....
Did every option - no luck! Then I get to a screen that states software issue but according to the updates from my computer and the apple website, I have the latest of everything!

Do you have another computer to which they may be paired?

  • Bluetooth won't connect my Apple wireless Keyboard, Mouse, or Trackpad

    Just as the title says...
    I have a 13" MBP Mid 2009.
    On OSX I can connect my Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard (3 battery slim model,) Mighty Mouse, or Magic Trackpad.
    Windows 7 detects these devices in the "add device" screen but never gets any further then that when trying to connect with them.
    I have installed the bootcamp drivers, and also did the update for them as well.
    These devices connect fine in OS X, so why not in windows?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    SOLUTION:
    Put the devices in "Manual paring mode"
    1. Turn device off.
    2. Push and hold in power button until the LED starts flashing on and off.
    3. Try the paring procedure.
    4. It should work.
    I went to the apple store and this is what they did. They got the trackpad paired no problem, but the keyboard would refuse to make connection. At first they blamed windows and didn't want to replace the keyboard because it worked fine under OSX. However I made them try one of their keyboards and it paired fine. So they ended up swapping out my keyboard for one of the newer ones and now it pairs with both windows and OSX with no problem!

  • Can't pair my Apple wireless keyboard

    My Apple wireless keyboard was working and pairing with my iMac until this morning.  I got a low battery message, replaced the batteries and the keyboard wouldn't pair.  It was recognized but wouldn't/couldn't pair (though it will pair with my iPad).  I tried to pair without a "PIN" number and now the keyboard isn't even recognized by my iMac (though still working fine with the iPad).  What's going on and how do I fix it?

    Hello:
    Try a couple of things:
    Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.
    Reset the PRAM and SMC
    I am assuming you have a wired KB that works.

  • TA24778 issues with pairing an Apple wireless keyboard by bluetooth with iPad Mini

    Does anyone have any tips about successfully pairing an Ipad Mini with an Apple Wireless keyboard, please? Apart from changing the batteries on the keyboard, I have had a lot of difficulty in doing it successfully.

    Which Apple wireless keyboard are you using?
    See this Apple doc -> iOS: Apple Wireless Keyboard compatibility
    The original Apple Wireless Keyboard, introduced in 2003, is not compatible:
    Apple Wireless Keyboard (2003): Features a white case and uses four AA batteries.
    If you're using a compatible keyboard, does it pair with your Mac? Try turning it off and then back on and then pairing it again.

  • Apple wireless keyboard, mouse and trackpad battery management is SO MESSED UP! HELP!

    I have like 2 dozen batteries that I have swapped in the days since 10.8.4. The **** thing just drains in like 4 days. I am using apple wireless keyboard and mouse/trackpad (either at a time) with my macbook pro that is in closed lide clamshell mode less than a feet away from these devices. the batteries are draining like crazy! 3-4 days! they used to work for like weeks! i have heard in another thread that there is some bluetooth driver issue.
    i know many of you would come up with things to check for like other wireless devices, etc. but like I said i have been using this since 2011 and only now since 10.8.4 they have gone crazy!
    whats even more weird is that i dont think the batteries are really draining. its something to do with the battery management hardware/software that fails to see the power inside. when i remove the currently dead battery and put in one that was indicated having 0% charger i get a magically 50+ % sometimes event 80! a reboot and the figure is something else! since this is happening with all the three input devices i think its something to do with macbook pro.
    any fix?

  • 10.6.6 won't pair with 1996 wireless keyboard

    Finished loading box set (10.6.?) onto a 1996 mini mac from 10.4, bluetooth apple keyboard paired. Did a software update and loaded in 10.6.6 now keyboard shows in bluetooth, but won't pair after typing in the number and hitting return. Gives me "the pairing attempt was unsuccessful. The device is refusing the pairing attempt." Have fresh batteries in the keyboard, and have trashed keyboard preferences and rebooted several times.
    Old wireless mouse has no trouble, keyboard never had trouble with 10.4.
    Any Ideas (other than keep using the usb keyboard I'm using to type this question?)

    make that 2006 in both cases.

  • Windows Vista/ Boot Camp and Apple wireless keyboard/mouse

    Could someone please outline the steps needed to make the apple wireless mouse and keyboard work with Windows Vista on the Mac. It was working fine before I installed the Mac drivers, but now nothing. Whats worse is my computer boots to windows automatically now so I can't use it at present!
    All help very gratefully received.
    Many thanks
    Dominic

    You cannot use a keyboard or any other peripheral with the tv, I'm afraid. Think of it more like a giant ipod than a little mini in that respect.

  • HT3986 Hello, as a extremely advanced user, after trying to install Targus AMB09EU on 64bit Windows 7, I have reached a stage where no new Bluetooth devices are detected, while Apple wireless kb+mouse still work perfectly, can somebody give any input plea

    The device I tried to install was Targus AMB09EU mouse.
    The end result was losing ability to detect any new Bluetooth devices, although Apple kb+mouse works.
    Any input would be appreciated.

    This really is a question best aimed at Microsoft and Targus user forums, you may not get an answer here.

  • Brand new Macbook Pro not pairing with Apple Keyboard and mouse!

    Hi all, I have a brand new Macbook Pro and an older wireless Apple Keyboard and Mouse (that were being previously used with my imac G5).
    Now I want to use these for this macbook. I am finding that they are being recognised but not pairing up?
    Do you need to stop the previous pairing with the imac before they will pair with the Macbook?
    Or do I need to update specific software? (I would have thought it has all the necessary updates already installed).
    I am running Snow leopard.
    I have brand new batteries in the keyboard and mouse.
    I really appreciate any helpful advice. Sorry if the answer is obvious!
    Thanks

    Hi there, i had a problem pairing an Apple wireless keyboard with my MacBook pro but managed to solve it.
    The default passkey option in Bluetooth setup assistant is 'automatic' which will (if the MacBook can 'see' the keyboard in the first instance) then say something like 'your device may prompt you to enter the following passcode 1234 5678'
    Obviously the keyboard doesn't provide any feedback - I went ahead and typed the number and hit the return key a number of times - the MacBook then displayed a 'pairing failed - you may have entered the incorrect passkey' message.
    What i was doing wrong was keying only numbers - when i keyed 1234[SPACE]5678 + RETURN pairing worked.
    I had thought the 'gap' in the passcode was to make it easier to read, not that it implied a space in the passcode.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can't pair apple wireless keyboard in Windows

    Hi
    I have just purchased the new June 2009 Macbook Pro. I've used bootcamp to install Windows XP and i'm trying to pair my apple wireless keyboard.
    Its the brand new apple wireless keyboard but when i search for the device in the Bluetooth control panel, its displayed but when it attempts to pair it says completed ok, but the keyboard still doesn't work.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Andy

    ' Peter, I'm sorry to say this, but it sounds like you specifically either have a genuine hardware problem, or your Windows installation is sicker than most. You should never see the sort of symptoms you're talking about in a normal, healthy system!!!
    ' However, the bad / sad fact of the matter is that, even were you not in the position you're in, you couldn't use either keyboard or mouse when in Windows!
    ' I am able to (and have done - my Vista system is still configured successfully with 'em - I haven't removed them despite them being useless!) propperly pair both devices on Vista without much of a challenge - pretty standard fair actually... But that's all a smokescreen. Despite this - and despite being able to actually query each device over bluetooth for the services they provide and so on - they still cannot be actually used!!! No matter what, there is never any response from the OS to input or actions on either keyboard or mouse.
    ' <Shrugs> What can I tell ya. It does sound like Peter needs to move onto solving his bluetooth problem though anyways - in case this causes trouble for him (you) at some later date with devices that actually would be useful!
    ' Later!

  • Apple wireless keyboard function keys don't work with ipad2

    I have a brand new ipad2 and just purchased an apple wireless keyboard. The keys work fine for typing, but the keys across the top don't seem to work at all. I play music, but none of the music control keys work. The keys on functions 1..12 appear to be totally dead.
    I have seen several posts from people who seem to have this problem, but I see no answers. Did I purchase a lemon or what?

    wrote this in another thread, but it is relevant here, too.
    Wanting to buy a keyboard and reading this thread (and others), I went to a local Best Buy. They had quite a few of the wireless keyboards out. They had MC184LL(A) models and (B) models.
    ALL of the (A) models worked perfectly with the iPad (typing, brightness, volume, ipod functions, etc).
    NONE of the (B) models worked other than basic typing.
    They had a stack of maybe 50 new wireless keyboards on the shelf. All but two of them were (B) models.
    I bought one of the two (A) models. It is working perfectly on my iPad.

  • What functions work with iPhone 3GS on OS4 with Apple wireless keyboard?

    I've successfully paired my Apple Wireless Keyboard with my iPhone 3GS running OS4. I can type messages and emails, but many functions seem to be missing, like moving to the "send" button in email or moving around my iPhone screen. Does anyone know where to find info on what keys on the wireless keyboard perform what functions on the iPhone? Thanks

    Does it matter?
    On topic, there are a few things that work with the keyboard on to iPhone:
    * F1 and F2 - Brightness
    * F3 - Disabled
    * F4 - Disabled
    * F5 and F6 - Disabled
    * F7 - Previous Track
    * F8 - Pause/Play iPod
    * F9 - Skip Track
    * F10 - Mute
    * F11 - Volume Down
    * F12 - Volume Up
    * Eject - Disabled (unless Apple adds a mini-Disc)
    * Caps Lock - YEAY
    * FN Control Option/Alt Command - All Disabled DOH
    * Arrow Keys - YEAY
    Wow, troll. Stop bringing up dead threads...especially when you can't get your information correct.
    The eject key hides and displays the softkeyboard in text entry mode.
