New mail in folders not pushing messages

Hello
I'm having a problem with my iCloud (@me.com) email account. I created several folders to direct my messages from my family, colleagues and friends using rules. When I recieve a message from those contacts, the mail app on my iOS devices doesn't alert me of the new messages. but If I open the folder it fetches the message right away. This poses a serious problem because I am a doctor and I need to get messages instantly and also need to have them separated. Any advice or suggestion on this issue will be really appreciated.
Thanks! Merry Chistmas and Happy Hannukah to everybody!

Thank you. That explains what is going wrong. But I need to know how to resolve it. Should I not have my POP business account store messages in folders housed on mobile me? But if I do that then my business stuff will not be synchronised across my Macs, but will be only on one machine, as I've use mobile me to synchronise across the lot. What to do?

  • Why is Mail 6.2 not displaying messages from my Exchange account?

    Greetings,
I have a new 13" MacBook Air running Mountain Lion and I'm noticing that most of the time my Mail inbox is not displaying messages from my work Exchange account; however, it does display messages correctly for my Gmail account.  I've included a screen shot of what I'm experiencing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Garry

I have the same problem, as does a coworker. It happens, for instance, if I click on another mailbox (such as Junk) then go back to the inbox. Our company uses Exchange. Quitting mail usually fixes it. A rebuild of the mailbox will too.  Only happens on my Mac at work, not my Mac at home (connected via VPN).
Another problem I have is with mail not syncing. Mail I have deleted from another device (such as on my Mac at home or my iPad) does not get deleted from my inbox at work. Sometimes they'll go away when I click on them. Other times they won't go away and the only way to delete them is to rebuild the mailbox.
And lately I have had problems with attachments. Attachments sent from my Exchange account at work show up as .eml attachments in my iCloud account and mime attachments on my iPad or as a string of characters (20-30), not as an attachment. This happens whether sent from home or work.
I have our IT department looking into the third problem (which is the most vital one for me).  I'll report the other two annoying problems and see what they can figure out.

New mail button does not respond so can't write mail. help please?

I am no expert, but open your mail, go to the top of your apple bar click the apple sign then force quit mail, restart and it may work.
I had this issue before and it was resolved.

  • Mail in folders not showing as new or as arrived.

I have two email accounts that I need to monitor, one is a mobile me account, the other is my business account, which has is POP. On my Macs, the emails are received from both accounts and via rules sent to the appropriate folder, which is a folder on mobile me. With this method all my business emails are available from me.com or any mac I have.
On the IPhone, it shows only those emails as having arrived if they are primary inbox, if the rules have moved them to a folder, they don't show up, unless I navigate to the folder and look for them. Not easy when I have 20 Company folders, which in them have many folders for each person in that company.
How can I get new mail to show up?

Thank you. That explains what is going wrong. But I need to know how to resolve it. Should I not have my POP business account store messages in folders housed on mobile me? But if I do that then my business stuff will not be synchronised across my Macs, but will be only on one machine, as I've use mobile me to synchronise across the lot. What to do?

  • MobileMail notifications for new mail in folders?

I've noticed that mobilemail will not issue a new mail alert when mail arrives directly into a folder via server side rules. Is there a fix for this? It's incredibly frustrating now that 2.0 allows me to access my work exchange email, 90% of which is sorted by rules at the server to keep it organized. I have to manually launch mail and browse through each of about 20 folders to see if I have new messages - very close to useless.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I need to chime in on this also...
I use my Yahoo mail account on my iPhone and while I find it handy that I can access all my Yahoo mail folders, I find it absolutely ridiculous that the iPhone only checks for new mail in the INBOX -- I have to open each and every individual Yahoo mail folder in order to prompt the iPhone to check the contents of THAT folder for new messages.
Since I use Yahoo mail filters to automatically sort and file incoming messages into appropriate folders, this oversight causes a lot more issues rather than providing convenience unfortunately.

  • IPhone mail app is not pushing Office 365 emails to show in my lock screen

    Hello,
I transferred from one college to another last semester and set up my iPhone to receive school emails as I had at my previous school. Both colleges use the same email system, Microsoft Office 365. At my first college, my email functions worked perfectly fine, and everything showed up in my lock screen as I had set it to do. But upon transferring, only my personal emails would push to the lock screen. That semester, this issue caused me a good amount of trouble. Professors would email me asking if I could stop by their office between certain hours during the day, but only much later would I receive the email, and their office hours were long over. I am the type who checks her lock screen for notifications during the day, and only when I'm bored or have a certain purpose in mind do I unlock it, so I -desperately- need a way to resolve this issue. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Mail has to be running in order for you to be notified of new mail. It doesn't need to have any windows open. If you're sure that it is running in the background, open the Notifications preference pane and check the settings for Mail.

I have completed the 5Rs and Windows and ITunes recognize my IPod but it will not sync. Each time I plug it in I get a window saying it will not sync because a file is missing or something to that effect. Any suggestions? It's my birthday and I want to enjoy my new "toy"!

  • Mail - IMAP folders not showing up in folder list

I have several mac mail imap folders and a few of them are not showing all imap folder - yet I can use move to folder to move emails to that folder.  Any ideas?

Check on the IMAP settings (Gmail.com) that Pop is disabled.
It should be in the IMAP/Mail forwarding section.
When it is enabled, folders do not show up in mac mail

  • New mail notification counter not appearing in dock

I've noticed recently that my new mail notification counter doesn't appear in the dock if I have Mail sitting in the background. I can be working in, say, Word, and not know I have new mail. Yet, when I go to Mail there are emails sitting there (and the dock counter appears as soon as I go to Mail.
Not a major problem, I agree, but it would be nice to fix it, if anyone has any suggestions.
    Cheers
    Phil

Thanks for the replies. I do have preferences set as you suggest but am not getting the notifications when Mail is in the background. I'll just live with it...
    Cheers

  • New mail sounds iphone5 not working

Doesn anyone know why the sounds for New Mail do not work?  Only vibrate works. Thanks.

For some strange reason, my mail sounds are not
operating. I have a certain sound selected to
announce incoming mail, but as of today, it doesn't
ring. Nor do I get my "No Mail" sound. When I go to
System preferences>Sound, none of the sounds play
when I click them. Other sounds (iTunes, voices,
    etc.) work OK.
Does anyone have an idea as to how to fix this? Maybe
    deleting mail .plists?
    Thanks.
If the sounds don't play in the Sound Preference pane then deleting mail.plist won't matter.
Check in /System/Library/Sounds. Do the .aiff files open and play in QT when you double-click them there? If not you'll need to run repair disk from disk utility and if they still don't work after that you'll want to see if you can replace them.
If they do work, then try pulling the following to the desktop and logging out and back in:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
~/Library/Preferences/By Host/com.apple.systempreferences.XXX.plist (where XXX is a random string)

  • Can't load new songs, constant "do not disconnect" message

I got a 5th gen iPod for my old mac mini seeing as how the 6th wasn't compatible. When I first hooked it up to charge, it downloaded every song on my iTune. Later, when I tried to add some more songs, the iPod kept flashing the "do not disconnect" message. Also, in iTunes, it keeps showing me the "Welcome to Your New iPod" display. I went through and registered it and signed up for the iTunes store and it keeps showing up. Whenever I try clicking the "register later" or "never register" buttons, nothing happens and it goes right back to the screen. Is there something I'm missing?

i wanted to follow up. i was getting ready to sell my ipod on ebay, so i hooked it up to my roommate's computer, which i worked on just fine, and erased all the songs on it. these were the songs it automatically uploaded from my itunes when i first plugged it in. i then decided to give it one last try on my computer, i was shocked and amazed to find that it works perfectly fine now. not sure what the problem was but wanted to let everyone know in case someone else had the same problem.

  • ICloud new mail count badge not working in Mail v 5.2 Lion but is working in Mountain Lion on other machines

I've upgreded 2 of my 3 computers to Mountain Lion, and all seems fine on those 2 machines, but on my older Mac Pro which is not compatible with Mountain, I'm having a problem where the new mail count badge is not showing up either on the iCloud mail box or as part of my total in the dock count badge.  New mail badges is showing up for my other mail boxes, just not iCloud.  I've removed my iCloud inbox, and have re-enabled it and it's still not working.  If I had the problem right at the time I installed Mountain Lion on my other 2 computers, I didn't notice it, so I don't think this problem is related to Mountain Lion on my other machines.

    Glenn,
Regarding adding and deleting the System Drive from the Spotlight Privacy Tab...... I'm following your sequence, but when I come back to Spotlight Search in the menu bar it just works the same.... no mention of indexing. What's interesting is that "Mail" dosn't appear anywhere in search results when a keyword search is performed via spotlight.
Regarding the "enevelope Index Files" ..... I followed the instructions and quit and re-opened mail as instructed.  When I re-opened Mail I selected "continue" and the program began to index the contents of mail for about 30 minutes.  I thought that would would fix the issue, but it's still not working.
I've tried to compare the account setup from my IMAC which works fine to see if I have something setup wrong in the account, but everything looks the same.
I guess I can try to re-index again?  Don't know what else to do?
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Mac Mail POP Account Not Receiving Messages

Using Mac Mail, I am suddenly not receiving messages in a POP account. The gmail account I use is working normally. Under connection doctor both accounts are green. Help, please?

Same problem here since upgrading to Mail 7.1 (1827). All the settings are seemingly correct. The emails are marked as 'Read' on the server but are not downloaded.
The emails are also deleted a week later as set in preferences.
Thinking the emails may have gone elsewhere I used Spotlight to look for them. No success there.
Real puzzle and yet another glitch on the latest Apple Mail.
Come on Apple, get your act together.

  • Why is all my new mail in Archive not my Inbox & Activity Monitor

    Three questions.
    1.     All new mail from ntlworld & gmail now automatically goes into Archive.
    2.     Why does the Activity Monitor state that I have nearly half a million email incoming
    3.     Why does email arrive WAY before on my iphone/ipad.. it takes ages for it to arrive on my laptop. Sometimes I have to log out and log in for it to appear

I've got exactly the same behavior with Yosemite, suddenly no new emails hit my inbox and everything goes in the Gmail (Tous les messages) folder. Looks like someone once again changed the behavior.
Does anyone has a clue on how to fix this?
