New Mail messages not loading

Woke up Sat. morning with no new emails displayed on my Verizon iPhone 4.
Only visible emails started at 4.6 dating backwards.
Apple store genius bar told me to wipe the phone clean and restore factory settings
as a "new" phone, not from backed-up phone.  Did this.
2 days later, one hour on Apple support line, one hour with Comcast support, and still
the same issue.  No new emails displayed, and emails visible from 4.6 back.
HAve deleted the account and added the account back to the phone.  Same issue.
Apple says it's Comcast, Comcast says it's Apple.
Wanting to drop-kick the phone!

Hallelujah!  After yet abother call to Apple support yesterday (2 days before my 90 days free support was up)
we got it to work.  The tech was sure it was because I had another device open (my desktop) that was receiving
the emails before my phone could. mmmmm. I often work with both devices open and receive mail on both.  Short story--after I powered down the MacPro those bloody emails started loading!  I don't question it.  Just to be sure I opened both devices and checked the delivery of emails to both, and no problem!  I think it had something to do with the MacPro being left on for days.  A hiccup.

  • Imported Mail messages not loading

I have upgraded to Mountain Lion (finally) and the imported messages into my new version of Mail take ages to load, some of them dont load at all. I just get the spinning cartwheel of infinity and nothing else. Newly received messages are fine. Its just the older pre-upgrade ones.
    Can anyone help?
Referring to old emails is something I need to do on a daily basis.
    Cheers

    Quit Mail.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. If you get a warning that the file is in use when you try to empty the Trash, log out and log back in.

  • New mail messages not visible--"detected corrupt database" related?

I am using Mail.app and an iPod Touch with an Exchange server (Intermedia). All of a sudden in the last few days, recent mail on the server is not visible using Mail.app or the iPod Touch. I have deleted the mail accounts on both devices twice and done an entirely fresh download of all mail on both, and the problem persists.
Mail in the Inbox is visible. However, if I move an Inbox message to, say, Archive or Travel, then it becomes invisible--even though it is intact on the server and in its proper location there.
I have also repaired permissions and run sudo daily/weekly/monthly maintenance processes, to no avail.
In the console, I see the following error message. Could this be related and is there a way to fix it?
Jul 17 11:14:36 xxx-xxxx-macbook Mail[108]: ISyncDataDirectoryCorruptedException: detected corrupt database while executing delete from Record
    Thanks for any help.

Update: all messages are viewable in Entourage Exchange Web Services 2008, but not in Apple Mail, or in Mail on my iPod Touch, or after a new download of all mail on another Mac in Mail.app. Why is Entourage able to see all the messages while all the Apple Mail clients are missing them?

  • New mail messages not appearing in Inbox

    Hi there,
I IMAP my email at work using Mail. Sometimes, messages don't appear in the inbpx or Smart folder that I have set up. I have rules for most people which moves teh unread message into their respective mail folder on the mail server. Its only, when I click on a mail folder that the message appears in the folder, the Inbox and the Smart folder.
Any ideas? Is it my mail server or Mail thats is causing this??
    regards, Chris

The message that you tried to send is probably stuck in Outbox, but it looks like Envelope Index may have gone awry as well, so let’s re-create both:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Move any “IMAP-”, “Mac-”, or “Exchange-” account folders to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON’T trash any “POP-” account folders, as that would cause all mail stored there to be lost.
    5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/, locate Outbox.mbox and move it to the Desktop if you want to preserve any messages waiting there, or just trash it otherwise.
    6. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    7. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folders, those accounts may be in an “offline” state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring them back online.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • On a new mail message in Yosemite there is no Send button or icon.  Only a grayed out word that says "send.  I can receive mail but not send because nothing at top of email allows sending

On a new mail message in Yosemite there is no Send button or icon.  Only a grayed out word that says "send.  I can receive mail but not send because nothing at top of email allows sending.  Please help.  This is true of two .me accounts I have.

    Hi,
It may pay to send a Screen Shot of the Connection Doctor info.  (see the Window Menu)
It would seem the IMAP or POP side is logged in bit the out going STMP server is not.

  • Fetch new mail messages does not work

On my notebook the fetch new mail messages does not work
    Settings:
    - Fetch new messages:     every minute
    - Play sound Purr
I need to us the manual button.
On my imac it works fine with the same accounts

My mail sounds are all screwed up. I hear the plane fly when I send an email but when I receive mail, no sound. I have rules set up which worked in Tiger. One rule is for mail to play a message "You have a message from "John Doe" when I receive an email from "John Doe" but it only plays when I send "John Doe" and email. Assbackwards.
Sometimes when reading new mail, it just disappears. I have to click on it again. I find this version of email to be very flaky!

  • Mail does not load mail screen

I upgraded as MBP form 10.6.8 ro 10.7.4 via image(I have done this many times).  When you open mail for the 1st time, it does a conversion of all the mail boxes.  At that point mail typically, loads the screen with all of your mail boxes, etc.  That screen never loads.  Mail Preferences do not load when you choose them.  I can create a new mail message but then can not see the screen.
Where are the mailboxes and pslists kept for a users mail account in Lion???

You might also ask this in the MobileMe forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/mobileme/mobileme_on_my_mac since not all of us here use MobileMe.

  • Intermittent mail body not loading, just headers

Recently I started having trouble with the body of messages not loading. Mail will work fine, then all of a sudden it will not load messages body. It doesn't matter if it is mail already on the computer or starting a new message. If it is acting like this and I start a new message, there will be no blinking curser in the body. No access at all to the body, only the Subject, To, From, Etc. but not the body.
In all cases it is rectified if I Quit Mail and when I relaunch Mail it works fine for hours more. Sometimes it happens each day, sometimes every few days and other times a few times per day. No discernible pattern.
    All input is greatly appreciated.
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
Since it's intermittent, have you run the Apple Hardware Test CD?
I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

  • Why does pages 09 keep opening a new mail message

I'm using pages 09 now (was using 08; tried the new 5.0 but it is useless based on backward compatability)
When I click on a name in a document it immediately opens a new email message with To as the contact  I clicked on. I've tried turning off all the auto complete, etc I can find but it still happens.
    Specifically,
if I go to the footer, the next time I land on a name in the body of the document it opens up a new email.
Once I close the mail message I can continue typing, editing etc.; but the moment I go to the footer and then return to the text box it jumps to a new mail message when I click on a name.
How do I turn this off?
    George O.

More on this and a correction-
there is a part of this document outined in blue- whenever I go into this part from the footer it initiates an email to me;  it doesn't matter where I click. My earlier question said when I click on a name this happens; but actually anywhere in the outlined area.
some of the document does not have thin blue outlines; when I go there I'm ok- no new email.
so, what are the blue lines about?
and why does it send me an email when I move into the outlined area?
    thanks for any help !

  • New mail message, tab to body doesn't work

I have an Automator app. on my desktop that jsut creates a new mail message. It does not pre-fill any information, just a new, blank mail message.
The problem is, I can type the recipients address, tab to the Subject and type that. Then, when I try to tab to the message area or body, it just highlights the Subject and will not tab forward.
    Any ideas?

The bug affects all applications that interact with Mail by way of Apple Events. Such apps as iPhoto, Automator, and AppleScript all use Apple Events to compose the buggy message. Until Mail's AE behavior is fixed, the only things I can offer are workarounds.
The previous script merely emulates user input instead of sending Apple Events. This is a bit of a kludge, and on second read a more precise solution would have been to invoke a blank mailto link:
click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">open location "mailto:"</pre>A workaround for your iPhoto-to-Mail bridge would be very difficult to conjure (if it's even possible) and unreliable at best. :\

  • Opening new Mail message in the main window

    Hello,
When I get a new mail message notification banner in the right top corner of the screen and click on it, this message is opened in a popup window. I want it to be opened in the main window, like it does when you click on a message if you are already in the Mail app.
Is this possible? I can't find any option to change this in System Preferences or Mail settings.
    Thanks!

If the Mail app is frozen then have you tried closing the app via the iPad's multitasking bar and seeing if it works properly when you re-open Mail ?
iOS 7 : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Mail app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
iOS 6 and below : from the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Mail does not load the mail after opening with 10.10.3 on macbook air

Mail does not load the mail after opening with 10.10.3 on macbook air

Under Window in the Menu bar select Connection doctor. You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. Except for iCloud account you'll see two entries for each account 1) receiving and 2 SMTP for sending.
If it's red, this usually means it's missing the password.
For Incoming messages, set in the account window, under Account Information tab.
For Outgoing (SMTP) messages, follow these steps:
    EDIT SMTP SETTINGS
In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP:  select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.
Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)
    Under Advanced Tab:
Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.
Verify if your server require SSL.
User Name. Enter full email address  eg.  [email protected]
Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password  more info)
Open Connection Doctor under Window in the Menu bar.
Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

Try completely turning off your phone and then turn it back on. Fixed the problem for me.

  • Send Outgoing Mail Messages not working

I'm having trouble with a workflow that creates a new mail message, gets specified iCal items, creates a summary text file, attaches to mail message and then sends mail message. Everything is working except the mail message does not get sent. There are no logged error messages. I've experimented with changing up the order of the actions and noticed that when I place "Send Outgoing Messages" directly after "New Mail Message", the message gets sent without a problem. However in order for my workflow to make sense I need to have many intermediary steps before I trigger the send messages action.
Any clues on this problem. Thanks in advance.
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Cascanuit-
I'm relatively new to Automator as well and by no means a programmer. It does seem that the iCal actions available are pretty meager. I did a search at www.automatorworld.com and there are a few additional actions but none that call out specific menu items.
Another way to approach your desired workflow is to create an applescript that selects Export... from the File Menu. I know very little beyond the basics of applescript but I did cobble together the following:
    tell application "iCal" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
    tell application process "iCal"
    set frontmost to true
click menu item "Export…" of menu 1 of menu bar item "File" of menu bar 1
    delay 4
    tell application "System Events"
    keystroke return
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
Here's the weird part. This script works, but only sporadically. Sometimes it stalls at the selection of the Export button in the dialog box. I have no idea why it sometimes works and other times fails.
If someone could refine this script to make it bullet proof than you can simply incorporate it as an automator workflow and then save the created export file to another volume or anywhere you like.
    Hope this helps some.

  • Can't close new mail messages

If I create a new mail message and then decide I want to close it, Mail won’t let me do that. I click on the red circle in the top left corner, nothing. I type cmd/W, nothing. I select File/Close from the menu, nothing. Only way I can get rid of it is to quit Mail, and half the time I have to force quit by this point to get the app to actually close. So far, everything else in Mail seems to be working fine with Snow Leopard.
    Anyone else seeing this?

Ok, some more feedback. Just tried doing another reinstall of Snow Leopard. Figured maybe that would do the trick. No dice, still getting this goofy Mail behavior.
Upgraded my wife’s laptop, no Mail problems at all.
This is driving me nuts. Not being able to save a mail to the Drafts folder is a real problem, and not being able to close a new message after opening it is a major hassle.
FYI, I can open a received email and then close it, no problem. Just can’t close emails I've created to send. Sure hoping this is resolvable and that I'm not just having to live with this until 10.7.
