New Mail on top or on bottom?
My new mail coming into my inbox used to be on the bottom of all of the current mail. Now all the new mail shows up on the top. I can change it, but when I reopen it, it goes back to new ones on top. this just started recently, (after Snow Leopard?).
any ideas?
you can change the sorting order by clicking on the "date received" column. if the setting does not stick when you quit Mail your mail preference file is corrupt. you can recreate it but it will mean re-enetering all your account data.
quit Mail, delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist and start Mail. you'll have to recreate your email accounts. once you do they'll recognize their existing mailboxes.

No with the built in app. However, there are lots of mail apps in the App Store. Depending on who your email provider is, one of them may meet your needs.

E72 Mail doesn't appear when a new mail arrives.

Having a strange problem occurring on some of my E72's, i have around 60 of them in my business currently and we are soon to have around 150 of them, so i really want to get this ironed out.
What happens is, i set up the phone to sync with my Exchange 2003 server OTA.
It's set up to be connected constantly so that when a new mail arrives in exchange it arrives in the phone.
Every-things fine; email, contacts, calendar, to-do.
Accept certificate permanently.
Mail flows in, contacts flow in e.t.c e.t.c.
Randomly, around 10 or so users E72's just stopped receiving mail automatically, as soon as i open up MfE they flood in, but whilst the phone is on the home screen, nothing.
Bearing in mind i have set these phones up all in the exact same way and haven't touched the configuration since then.
The last guys phone that broke, he's had it for about a month all working, went on holiday to Gran Canaria, all working, came home... not receiving mails automatically.
Any help? similar problems?

James.How do you have your inbox set to sort the messages? If you want new mail on top you should sort by date in descending order.

On a new mail message in Yosemite there is no Send button or icon. Only a grayed out word that says "send. I can receive mail but not send because nothing at top of email allows sending. Please help. This is true of two .me accounts I have.

It may pay to send a Screen Shot of the Connection Doctor info. (see the Window Menu)
It would seem the IMAP or POP side is logged in bit the out going STMP server is not.

I just bought the new HDMI cord for the IPad, it works good but a small potion of the TOP and the BOTTOM is cut off. It doesn't seem to do it for movies(although I can't really tell. My monitor is a 23 IN' acer s series. I just installed the drivers for my monitor with no change. I think I have a CD somewhere for my monitor maybe it has some kind of program in there that can help me. I can post a picture if I need to. Thanks

Email does not appear when using the mail icon on the home screen. I get No message selected showing on the rh side of my screen with the left hand third of the screen blank. Buttons on the top line are greyed out except the new mail one. The word thread appears in black on the top left hand side of the screen The only way out is to close the screen. all other apps work okay.

When ever user gets assigned new task, user has get a pop-up with message at any transaction screen duration of he is logged in WEB UI (like in outlook how a pop up comes for any new mail at right bottom corner)

(Regarding why mail needs to be checked every minute: it's connected with business here in Japan where email is the standard way to send instant messages from / to mobile phones, unlike elsewhere where SMS is the norm.) -
Change default new layer order - top to bottom
By default Adobe Photoshop creates new layers on top of the current layer. In the Western languages we read from top to bottom and left to right. So when I start creating a web site in Photoshop I start from top to bottom as well. However Photoshop creates the new layer above the current, which is the opposite of what I would like to do. I need Photoshop to create new layrs below the current layer. I know by holding CTRL/COMMAND and clicking the NEW LAYER icon, will do what I need. However if I do CTRL+J to jump/dublicate the current layer, or select a layer and ALT+DRAG again to dublicate it, again it puts the new layers in top. Is there a way to reverse the default order Photoshop places layers? If not, I suggest that to Adobe implement an option in the general settings for Photoshop. Flash for example had similar option to read/place layers from top to bottom or bottom to top. Thanks!
Trevor.Dennis, yes you are correct that perhaps the new layer MIGHT be hidden, but since I am asking such quesiton I am aware that this might happen. I see your point and why what I need is not the default option in Photoshop. However, for some (like me for example), it will still be a lot better of I could tweak that as an optional setting KNOWING what I am doing and the risk behind it.

Go up to the "View" menu, and pull down the "Columns" and "Sort by" menu options. Do you see what you want there? When you say "Address" do you mean "From?"

Baseball icon at the top of my new mail
when we open a new mail, a litle baseball icon shows up in the upper right hand of my new mail message...it doesnt seem to go with the mail (sent to my husbands work computer and it's clean)

Remember that user icon you chose—or someone chose for you—when your user account was created? That's the source of the icon. It is not being transmitted to those who receive messages that you originate.
If you want to change this user icon, launch the Systems Preferences application, press the Accounts icon and then the Pictures tab. Choose another from the scrollable list on the right, or add one using the Edit… button. As it says beneath the window, the "…selected picture will be used when logging in, in the 'My Card' in Address Book and as the default picture in iChat." -
When inserting pictures in a new mail message using the " photo browser" button I can view and select photos but the " choose " button is gone. What have I done wrong?

Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. Last night I went to the tool bar at the top of iphoto, clicked on "File", then clicked "Browse Backups" in the drop down menu. I have an external hard drive that is set up to Time Machine. The Browse Backups opened the iphoto pages in the Time Machine. I selected a date one day ahead of the day I performed the now infamous update, and it showed my iphoto library as it had existed that day. I then clicked "Restore Library" at the bottom right corner of the Time Machine screen. Roughly 2 hours later my iphoto was back to normal. When I opened iphoto there was a message saying I need to upgrade my program to be compatible with the new version of iphoto(version 9.2.1). I clicked "Upgrade" and within seconds it had done whatever upgrading it needed to do.
The only glitch in the restoration was that it restored the library as it appeared last week, so I no longer had photos I had imported this past weekend. I simply went back to the Browse Backups in the drop down menu, when Time Machine opened I selected the page showing my pictures from this weekend and again said to Restore Library. Roughly 45 minutes later the library was restored including the most recent photos.
I am now a happy camper.
I don't know if any of this will be of help to you because your email says you are having trouble with photos imported after the upgrade was performed. Have you had any pop up notices when you first open iphoto, that tell you you need an upgrade to be compatible with the new iphoto? If so have you clicked "upgrade"?
Good luck Liz, if you have Time Machine running as a back up to your library, maybe you wil be able to get help there, by following my instructions above. Otherwise, good luck with your investigations. I'd be interested in hearing how you make out.

I am just switching over from a Blackberry and can't figure out how to change email that I read back to "new mail" so it stays new in my computer.
While viewing your Inbox hit Edit in the top right corner > select your mail that you want to be unread > select Mark in the bottom right > Select "Mark as Unread".

2.2 fixed fetching for me, but 'new mail' sound/vibration remains an issue.
I'm interested in finding out how many of you have found that mail fetching is now perfectly reliable but you're still not getting the 'new mail' alert...
I did a full restore and found that when the mail account was first reinstated, it chimed/vibrated correctly. However, subsequent mail deliveries are silent.
So restoring, unfortunately, still doesn't make it work. The fact that the 'new mail' slider is set to 'on' and 'vibrate' doesn't make it work.
Anyone else? 2.2.1, maybe? Anyway, we're making progress, so I'm really happy about that!AndreTheGeek:
Yep, same here. I held off celebrating, but fetching/notifications worked great on Friday and Saturday, then Sunday afternoon, I noticed mail showing up on my phone without audible notifications. Turned it off, back on, no dice. Hard reset, no luck. Reset the network settings, and it fired back up again. Great!
This morning when I woke up, it had quit again, but seemingly due to a different problem. This time fetching was hung - when I would go to a particular mail account (I have 3: one push, one IMAP, one POP) the phone show "connecting" with the spinning wheel. Then it would show "updated" but the date was from last night, and the data transmitting indicator up at the top (to the right of the 3g) would keep on spinning forever. Turning off/on and hard resetting did not fix, resetting the network settings fixed it (again). So, give it a shot, just remember that when you do, it turns wifi back on, so you will need to turn that off if you do not want it chewing up your battery.
In the end, I would not worry too much - I am sure that this is just an isolated occurrence affecting only and handful of users. No doubt Apple is secretly working on a fix that they will release in two months, just as soon as the upgrade the iTunes store to allow you to upload custom photos of your neighborhood for use in streetview. The best part is this will only cost you 99 cents per upload.
