New MB w/ X3100: graphics choppy, previous 950 MB is fine

Hi all,
Just got my wife a brand new Macbook, came with 10.5.2 installed. The dock animations, genie, and all general graphics/animations are VERY choppy.
I haven't installed anything new on it, no hacks or anything.
I've found many posts here and webwide about this problem -- but most seem to say "install the Leopard graphics update." I've tried that, in case it wasn't installed already, and it makes no difference.
My previous Macbook with the 950 is also running 10.5.2, but all the graphics are smooth as silk. The side-by-side difference is startling -- this new MB pales in comparison.
My wife is no graphics geek, but even she noticed how jerky and choppy her brand-new Macbook is. Not the greatest start.
So can anyone offer a concrete explanation? Or confirm that this is a known problem, even after 10.5.2 and the graphics update are installed?

I'm so overwhelmingly mad with this situation, i can't even express enough anger about this. Almost a year has passed since the X3100 went out and still us, users of expensive machines we bought hoping for something shown as a best-quality product, are expecting for a solution. I'm already on 10.5.5 and nothing has changed yet. I stiil see choppy animations, totally irritating lag, and absolutely no way of playing games that with any computer with the specs of mine would run. I can't BELIEVE that a MacBook 2.1 can run smoothly and a 4.1 just doesn't work as it should. As Docter posted here, i also wish there was a way we could let know Steve Jobs or the people of Intel how angry we are, this can't keep on happening, and i totally agree on Unwind's post about the serious damage this is generating on the user experience. WE NEED REAL DRIVERS!!! will someone EVER listen to us?

Come on! 23 benchmark on open GL with GMA X3100, not even my old MacBook with GMA950.
Do you know if the software update for Leopard will fix this? Exposé is choppy, screensavers are choppy, dock is choppy...

New 10.5.2 Macbook: choppy graphics, quicktime flicker -- help?

Brand-new Macbook w/ 10.5.2, X3100 graphics. Dock animation is choppy, so are genie effect, moving windows, even the spinning beachball. Basically every kind of graphic animation is rough & jerky.
Playing Quicktime videos has an annoying and pronounced flicker.
Tried installing the Leopard Graphics Update, no difference. Tried the new firmware update, got the message "This computer does not need this update."
Side-by-side with my previous Intel Macbook (with GMA950 graphics), the difference is startling. My old Macbook is smooth, no jerkiness at all. QT videos play perfectly. (It is also running 10.5.2 with all updates.)
I can find lots of posts about these issues individually, but nothing with solutions. And I have both sets of problems, right out of the box. I don't think this Macbook is defective -- these exact problems seem too widespread.
Is there anything I can do besides sit and wait and hope for a fix "someday"?

I'd try one thing, which is to reset the PRAM, but since it's a brand new computer, instead of futzing around with it I'd take it straight back to Apple. This behavior is because for some reason the graphics driver is not functioning correctly, and hopefully it's just a faulty graphics parameter in the PRAM. To reset the PRAM, reboot the computer and immediately hold down the option-command-P-R keys all at once. The computer will make it's startup chime noise, and then will reset and make the startup chime noise again. When this second chime happens, release the keys and let it boot normally. Hopefully that clears the problem but if not I'd say take it back and ensure Apple gives you a properly working computer off the bat. This is a problem that they can no doubt fix, but I wouldnt want to be the one who has to worry about it if I were you.

A helpful forum but im still confused about x3100 graphics and leopard

am i and maybe a few the exception? i find iTunes ( visulaizer - stops / jerky and then plays ) & Photobooth ( video backgrounds - choppy video / slow ) to run poorly even with 4 gb Ram on a new SR-MB. But i dont see many other complaints by other owners. Been told by helpful members wait until Leopard software update for new drivers for the graphic card GMA X3100. So is there / was there a real issue with the x3100 and the new Macbooks or is it that mine just might not work right? Are thes ereal "bugs"?

I went into MSI Socket A Archives for CPU Support, and think I found right MB. Supports 1 and 1.1 Duron and 100FSB Tbirds 1.1 and 1.2 - bios version W6330VMS.340. (Wanted to post you a link but wouldn't work.) You might wish to double check my efforts.
If your 300 has around 185 watts combined on +3 and +5, you may be in luck. If you need to upgrade PSU, get at least 200 or 220 combined.

Gma X3100 graphic card

Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an external monitor (Dell ST2220L, with VGA, DVI D and HDMI plugs) to use with my macbook early 2008 (in Snowleopard 10.6.8) which has the Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor.
My professionnal PC, has an Intel HD family graphics processor and works fine with this new monitor (be it in VGA, DVI D or HDMI)
However, for some reason, with my Macbook, only the VGA connector (via mini dvi to vga adaptor) works.
When I plug the monitor via DVI (and via the mini dvi to dvi adapter) to the mac, the screen shows the message : "Entering power save mode" and goes into power save mode.
I have read and tried the solutions mentionned on pretty much on every related webforum (esp here / i wanted to add a message to that thread but it's been archived) :
resetting PRAM
resetting SMC
lowering MB screen light
disactivating any monitor option related to power save mode
selecting and unselecting Mirror display
using the software InsomniaX to prevent my MB from having power sleep options turned on...
but nothing works.
now i'm running out of ideas, and especially I'm starting to wonder if it's not a graphics processor driver problem or a problem linked to v10.6.8 as I have already successfully plugged my MB via DVI to an external monitor (not dell tho') in the past.
It's frustrating to have to use VGA when you bought the screen to use with DVI or HDMI.

If iMovie 08 can import high definition video can it not output it on its own as AVCHD (AVC/H.264 - MPEG4) to DVD?

Well, this is not an easy, clear cut question. The Radeon is an old, out of date card however it does have a dedicated GPU and Memory on board. The 3100 is an integrated chip with shared system memory, however, it is much newer and up to date.
I'd put my money on the 3100 myself, however, neither is really up to the task of playing The Sims 2 in my opinion, that game (on the PC) taxed my CoreDuo with a GeForce 7900GT. :P

I don't think so. Moreover that is applicable till 2.2D.
Moreover depreciation is to be run for all periods you have not run earlier. Please check upto which period dep run has happened. Thereafter close the fiscal years in order thro AJAB.

GMA X3100 graphics card.

I was just wondering,
I want to buy the Sims 2 game for Mac, but it says i require a Radeon 9000 graphics card or better or a GeForce FX5200 graphics card or better. I currently own a MacBook with a GMA X3100 graphics card. I want to know if the Sims game will work with my current graphics card, as I already found out that Need For Speed Carbon wont work with it. I would also like to know if it will work with Leopard, as I recently upgraded.

I was able to get Sims 2 running on my MacBook with the X3100 card without any major issues. I found that I needed to turn my graphics settings to low or else the more that began to appear on the screen things would slow down dramatically. Occasionally I'd get some odd rendering as some shaders and color combinations would take longer to load than others. I'd imagine the game to run extremely well on the MacBook Pro but it certainly runs on the MacBook.
It is listed on Intel's site for compatible games for the X3100 as well...

Prior to upgrading if I brought up my FireFox page I had a header the same as my Google Page. The new/latest FireFox Page does not have the header with the options. Those options were,Images-Videos-Maps-News-Shopping-Mail and a More option with a drop-down menu. Why is this the case?.

I always find it amazing that there is anyone who uses the default home page, especially when Firefox has s builtin search bar. To restore a Google search page you can replace your homepage with http://www.google.com then you will see those Google applications at the top of the window.

If you don't have access to your old email account and can't use security question authentication to reset your password, you'll have to do one of the following to turn off Find My iPhone so you can chang the iCloud account on your phone:
If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. New MBA Sandy Bridge Graphics vs. Current NVIDIA

Is anyone here familiar with the new Sandy Bridge Intel Graphics and the current MBA's NVIDIA offering? I've read that the new Intel IGP is supposed to be "on par" with the NVIDIA chip, but I'm curious if this will actually be the case, or if it's possible that Apple will have Sandy Bridge alongside a dedicated mobile video card still - or if the new MBA graphics will disappointingly lag behind in graphics.

If you ever have a chance to browse the MacBook Pro forums, you'll find that a lot of people weren't aware of Apple's design decision. What's worse... these are from people that already bought the machine. I suppose if you're an "old school" Apple person then you just assumed that the Pro line has the discrete. You figure until the introduction of the 13" MBP and Apple's brief experiment with the cheaper entry point of the 15" MBP, all of the MacBook Pros had discrete GPUs, whereas the MacBook had the shared.
Even more surprising was that the recent refresh of the 13" MacBook Pro didn't include the LCD panel found in the 13" MacBook Air with the 1440x900 resolution, it's still using the 1280x800.
Unless you're an avid gamer, the Intel HD 3000 & Nvidia 320M are perfectly adequate. I've yet to encounter a game I couldn't run, albeit, on lower settings. Regarding the update, we'll have to wait and see. But it's no secret that the recent refresh of the MacBook Air was a huge success for Apple (they're very public about that), so you'd have to assume that Apple will continue to ensure that it stays current with technology.

Creating new task based om completion of previous task in R17

Hi All,
Currently in R16, the workflow of creating new task based on "When Modified Record Saved" for Activity entity is not possible.
Meaning, for ACTIVITY it is not possible to generate new task based on completion of previous one, for example.
Will it be different in R17? will it be different in the future? Or we will always need to use web service to have this functionality?

I've looked at both threads, and there simply isn't enough information for me to tell you what is wrong. Please collect a trace (instructions in General forum) and open a case with CSS. CSS can provide more in depth analysis than what a forum
post allows.

Well, unless you made a backup BEFORE you hit the restore button, your data is gone.
