New mbp - 2,4 or 2,6 mhz - is the higher speed that price worth?

hy,
i order today a new mbp 17" .
and i think about getting the faster cpu. but are the 0,2 more speed the higher price worth? i am not going to render 3d/video. more photoshop/print.

My take is that generally every additional ounce of speed is worth it. Whether it is worth $250 is a question only you and your budget can answer.
What I generally find happens to me if I don't go for the max speed is that suddenly, like now, when my MBP 2.16 ghz I feel very left behind. But in this world of computer advances trying to stay up at the top would take either a Bill Gates or Steve Jobs budget which I don't have.
I've been waiting to see what happens too and I'm hoping there is a slight price decrease in prep for Christmas sales.
Regardless I have authorization from my boss to go with: MBP 17 hi-res, 250gb disk, 2gb RAM, APP. I'll buy the 4gb of RAM from Crucial for MUCH less than Apple sells it.

If it's the same machine (same CPU) there should not be any need to activate. The actiovation is tied to your CPU.

Looks like the Silicon Image drivers were moved to the incompatible software folder during install/upgrade.
Downloaded latest drivers, errored out of install claiming that the drivers were from an unknown author!!!
Emailed their tech support this evening describing problem.

Use Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Restore = Choose file....
i have backup of 6 .json files
when i choose 1st one
This will replace all of your current bookmarks with the backup. Are you sure?
then i click on ok
but there is no chage in my new bookmark

Bought new MBP, but there is no cd/dvd in the box

today I bought a new MBP 15", and there is no software cd/dvd inside of the box...
there were the small "hello" book, and a screeen clean pad, but no cd...
is this normal or just a mistake?

MBP 2006, Crash during login, black screen, fans running high speed.

Hello.
I'm having problem with my MacBook Pro 2006 model. OSX 10.6.8.
When I boot into OSX and log in then the computer crashes with black screen and fan start running on high speed. It usually happends when I'm typing my password but sometimes I can log in but then it crashes usually soon.
I can boot into Safe mode and Single user mode and everything is normal there.
If I boot from OSX install CD same happens. Its crashes. Same with from Install USB stick and from Disk warrior disk. Safemode and sigleuser mode is no problem.
It started one year ago when I puted the computer to sleep and woke it up. Then it crashed. So I just stopped puting it to sleep. Then after few months it started doing this during login but after one or two restarts then it worked. And now she does it every time.
Nothing in logs that gets my attention. I've tryed resetting SMC and everything else I can reset.
Anyone had this problem ?

I've been having this same frustrating problem, with the same machine (A1150, 1.83Ghz) although mine does it with both the AC and the battery. I was hoping it was the battery and just replaced it (the old one was almost dead), to no avail.
I thought it was working okay in Windows under Bootcamp until one day it decided to show off the same black-out/wild spinning fans symptoms. Grrr.
I've since run the following repeatedly, all of which have come up with nothing: AHT, Memtest, Hardware Monitor, iStat. I've been furiously monitoring the logs and not seeing anything jump out. I also cleaned the caches with Leopard Cache Cleaner and OnyX, and did an archive & install of the OS a couple of times. Lastly, I created a new user to see if there were problems with my start-up. Problems persisted.
Right now the only time I can keep it running is if I'm in Safe Mode. Not helpful, particularly WRT making a backup (i.e., I won't be able to use Firewire ).
Any more ideas/advice on this would be very appreciated. I'm ready to hurl my puter out the window.

Why will Macfee Virus not work with the new version? How do I swich back to the previous version that did not have this issue?

I selected to let Firefox install the update. After the update was done. A message came up and stated the new version of Firefox does not support the add-ons for Macfee virus software. How do I switch back to the previous version, that does support Macfee virus software add-ons? In the mean time I will have to switch back to IE until this is resolved.

Your Anti-virus application is not disabled, just one silly little McAfee extension for Firefox.

Usually, a desktop CPU, video card and counter part will always out perform it's mobile sister and in this case there's no difference.
The question you should be asking is Mobility a requirement??

My (quite new) MBP's monitor looks a bit pinkish, and the black test goes red when I scroll. Why?

I said it all in the header. All the screen components that usually look pale grey look a bit pinkish, and the inages and text discolor when I scrook. This is especially noticeable with text, which goes from black to dark red and back to black when scrolling stops.
I usually use the MBB with a separate monitor, so I hadn't noticed this until today and don't know when it started.
I suspect this means a defect in the display.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

The simplest way to change the ID is to go to Settings > App Store
Tap your Apple ID. Sign in with the current ID, then sign out
Now, sign in with the new ID
Please be advised however that all apps purchased under the previous ID will forever be tied to that ID. This means you will either want to re-download the free apps you had under the old ID and re-buy the apps you purchased, or you will need to sign out every time there is an update on apps you have and sign in under the old ID to update those apps.

Uncheck Edit > Preferences > Store > Show iTunes in the cloud purchases
The correct way to move iTunes from one computer to another is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer. This will make everything in iTunes on the new computer exactly as it was on the old computer.
