New MBP with iPhone-like audio inputs. Do I need special adaptor?

I have a brand new MBP with the iPhone audio inputs/outputs. Do  I need a special adaptor to use the speakers I was using before or can I just plug them in? How about for a microphone. IIRC those old ones were RCA plugs?

just realized i had made another post here long time back and it has a reply that covers what i need.

I currently have a mbp 2.3 gighuz intel core 7 16 gig of ram with two internal hard drives ( took super drive out) which for a video editor like myself is a dream I can edit video anywhere, my question can I order a new mbp with 2 internal flash drives?

I wouldn't think so because the newer ones with Retina displays don't have an internal SuperDrive that can be replaced. Therefore the newer logic boards wouldn't have the two SATA/SATA Express connections on the logic board.
At least that was the case as of 2012. I've seen newer ones and they also don't have a SuperDrive.

  • X220 connection to older tv with video and audio inputs

I want to connect to tv with video and audio inputs , I think it is rca style. what adapters do I need to connect my x220. Thanks

so you are using s-video or RCA connection right?
If you using analogue connection like s-video and RCA, it is best to get a VGA to RCA/S-video adapter for the video to the TV. For the audio get a 3.5 mm headphone jack to rca adapter plug.

  • Itunes 11.1.5 will not sync new apps with iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.6 and gives grayed out "install" no message?  How does one work around this?

Itunes 11.1.5 (MacBook Pro,OS 10.6.8) will not sync new apps with iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.6 and gives grayed out "install" no message?  How does one work around this?

Just reboot your laptop... While its rebooting try to reboot your phone also by holding the home and power buttonn for 10-15 seconds...When your phone is turned off try to connect it to iTunes and it will recognize your phone in recovery mode.
If you have the .ipsw file for iOS 7.0.6 saved in your desktop then in itunes press shift and click on Restore.
Select the ipsw file and let it restore.
If you dont have it downloaded then simply click on restore.
    I hope it works
    Cheers !

  • Got a new MBP with Mavericks but still prompting to download Mavericks in App Store

I'm not sure if I have to download and install Mavericks again on this machine but this is a brand new late october MBP with OS X 10.9

You don't need to download OS X Mavericks because you are already using it. The only purpose to download OS X Mavericks would be to create a USB drive with the Mavericks installer in case you want to reinstall Mavericks in the future

  • Does the new MBP with gt 750m get too hot while gaming?

I am planning to buy the new MBP with gt 750m and upgrade the cpu to intel i7-4960hq (2.6 GHz, 3.8 GHz max) but I am really confused. I am not going to use it for hardcore gaming but I will occasionally play Dota 2 and Civ 5. Additionally I will be using SolidWorks. I really want to know if it is capable of running these games/programs without generating too much heat because heat is a total dealbreaker for me.
My second question is about to CPU's heat generation. With the increase in clock speed as far as I know it is expected to generate more heat. I really want to learn if the cooling system is efficient enough for a system that has both i7-4960hq and GT 750M GDDR5.

I've had the original MBP, the 2.33 C2D, the 2.4 C2D, and just got a 2.5 C2D. I'm amazed at how much cooler the new ones run. Even doing the extended hardware test on AC power the fans never got over 3500rpm (the earlier machines would have been blasting at maximum rpm). I can run things at 100% processor tasks using both cores and still keep it on my lap. I'm just amazed at how much this hasn't been commented on. To me this is the big improvement in the new processors, the heat is now finally tolerable in an Intel based Mac laptop.

  • Bought logic pro 9.1.7 online for new MBP with mountain Lion, but asked for serial number. Where could I get SN?

How can I get the SN for an online version of Logic Pro bought from AppStore?
    Thanks!

good news. The trick is to delete the "logic pro 9" by dragging the App from Finder->Applications to trash bin, and re-doanload and re-install it again. Now it's happily downloading 19GB contents without asking for SN.
Thanks Pancenter for your message. This is is brand-new MBP with Retina display, and I didn't find or delete and reg file for logic. Simply delete the app under installation (not in the launch pad, see above) and re-install. It works for the 2nd try. It could be a SW integration bug.

  • Is the fact that the new MBP with Retina display, has choppy scrolling in safari, a reason not to buy it? Can it be fixed through software?

I am debating buying a new MBP with Retina or a Macbook Air. I am looking for more info on wat people have been saying about lag in safari. Thanks!

Hey fredryan..did you end up getting the rMBP?  I too am a little concerned about the screen performance while I wait for mine to ship.  If you have gotten yours do you mind commenting on how Mountain Lion affected it?  Is the lag still a big issue?  Thanks!

  • Installing FCS 3 (upgrade) on new MBP with Mountain Lion

    Hi:
I just bought a new MBP with Mountain Lion installed.  I have FCS3 upgrade, which I have now on my Mac Pro tower.  I originally bought FCP version 1 back in 2000, so I've had it for quite some time.
When I insert the FCS install DVD into the MBP, the disc spins up and then spins down.... and nothing happens.  Nothing opens, no dialogue box, not sign of any activity.
    What am I missing here?

Open the finder window and click on the DVD to open it up. Make sure you have the first DVD disk...
I have FCS 3 (FCP 7) running in ML with no problems. I did a clean install of ML first... and installed the FCS 3 upgrade after that... But, make sure you install QuickTime 7 before you install FCS 3... FCS 3 with turn QuickTime 7 into the Pro version.

I installed LiveType from FCS 2 too...

Help!!! Brand new MBP with Santa Rosa Kernel Panics when started with external HD firewire 800 after 20 sec...
I don't know what it could be???
    Do you???
    Thanx

I'm actually having a similar issue and I don't think its related to networking at all.
I'm currently working in a corporate environment where we deploy pre-built OS X images to machines. I recently upgraded my images to 10.4.10 before we got our first Santa Rosa machine. This image was built on a MacPro and worked on all Intel Macs down to a MacMini CoreSolo. When I deployed my prebuilt image to the SR MBP, it caused a kernel panic immediately.
Further investigation revealed previous builds of OS X, including 10.4.10 upgraded from any other model Intel Mac will kernel panic the SR MBP. Going backwards the SR Build of OSX will not work on any previous model Mac, as any other build typically does, but causes severe graphical distortion, as if it does not have the display drivers for the other Macs.
To make a long story short, I think your issue comes from the fact that your external hard drive has an older build of OS X 10.4 than the SR MBP will run (even though you may have upgraded it to 10.4.10). Anyone who can corroborate my story with some more testing, please chime in.
I haven't found a solution for this issue yet other than keeping a seperate Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo image for my deployments.

  • Bluetooth Audio Streaming Bug on the new MBP with Retina Display?

    Hi,
today i got my new MacBook Pro with Retina Display. I am using Monsters Clarity HD Model One as speakers for my computer and have the new Bluetooth-Module called "Streamcast". This Module is APT-X and AAC compatible and has a really great quality. Normally...
But with the new MBP i can only stream the Audio via SBT (AD2P) what is a much worse quality. On my old MacBook Pro 13" AAC and APT-X was working very well.
Is that already a known issue? What can i do in this case?
    Thanks a lot,
    Rene

so return it for another one if its within the 14 day return policy.  If not, bring it in for repair.

  • Feedback on new MBP with Aperture

Need to upgrade my current Aperture platform (MBP 2.4Ghz June 2007 w/4GB RAM). My system is highly optimized, but still suffer from beachballing, images taking a long time while "loading", and unresponsive sliders. I working with RAW files from a D3.
Considering the MBP or waiting for the next generation of MacPro.
Would like to hear from people who have made the switch to the new MBP, especially those who have gone for the 2.8Ghz option.
Specifically would like to know if the system has had a significant impact on Aperture performance.
Also would like to hear feedback regarding the screen. Although I strongly prefer a matte screen, I'd like to hear from people who are using Aperture on a daily basis with the new screen.
I tried it out in an Apple Store today with some of my own images on a USB drive. I was very dissatisfied, and heard no less than 5 other people around me asking the sales staff if the MBP was available with matte option.... (I have sent my feedback to Apple about this issue and urge those of you who feel the same to do so here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html)

i have the same question.....so far all the benchmarks i have seen do not show any kind of speed improvement (at the same ghz) and the glossy screen is a major turnoff for me as well...
i guess it would be hard to actually perform timed test running aperture and measuring if there is a difference in actual use....
aperture really is due for an upgrade/fix and it would be amazing if it could utilize the GPU....but i guess we will have to wait for snowleopard for that....i also really hope they will have an option to utilize BOTH cards at once....
it really seems aperture is on the back burner these days....a 2.1.2 fix to make more money from books is not what i was hoping for....full (tethered) support for 1 year old canons and local adjustments are really not too much to ask for....
i really hope at least the 17" will come with a matte option (even if i have to pay extra....) and a couple of actual pro features...like another FW port and maybe room for a second HD or more RAM....
all in all i doubt any of this will really happen....apple is posting record profits with ipods and iphones....and aperture will never be a cash cow.....

  • Pair MBP with iPhone

    Hi,
I've MBP 15'' Retina (Mavericks) and iPhone 4S (iOS 7). I would like to use my notebook as a "bluetooth headset" for iPhone. I'm looking for solution but not find yet. I've connected iPhone cable headphones with MBP, but when I got incomming call I need to reconnect it to iPhone. It's frustrating, but I don't want second pair of headset/headphones.  Is there any solution to get one headphones for MBP and iPhone paired via bluetooth?
    Daniel

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred to an iPhone from one computer. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first. This will not touch any other data such as iPhone settings, contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks, and photos in the camera roll unless you select to sync contact, calendar events, and Safari Bookmarks with the supported application on another computer.
You need to transfer your iTunes library (the iTunes named folder - which stores all iTunes data) and photos from your previous computer to your new MBP along with all other data that you want or need to access on your new MBP.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book and calendar events with iCal, enter one unique contact in the Address Book and one unique calendar event in Cal on your MBP. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing this data, which you want to select.

  • Want a New MBP with SL and wondering how the OS is fiaring

    hi-
I have been waiting a little before I purchase a new MBP-especially since I had a hard time with the conversion over to Mac. At that time Tiger was the OS and I stopped upgrading at the last version of Tiger. I probably should have gone with Leopard but there is always more time.
I am curious to hear how the OS has done and if the updates have dealt with the problems well. I would like to get a 17" MBP and of course this would b the OS that is installed on the MBP.
I am open to learn before I buy, so in advance--thanks!
I will throw this last question---well, I beter not.

Take the time to learn about Snow Leopard. Be sure your applications are Snow Leopard ready. Check to see if you will be required to update. Verify that your hardware will still work. Printers have been a bit slow to get drivers for Snow Leopard. Have a backup that you can revert to if needed!!!

  • Intalling Logic 9 on new MBP with no CD Drive.

I have a new 15" MBP 2013 model. It has no CD drive. I have a copy of Logic 9 that I used on my old MBP (which had a CD drive). But, now I want to install it on my new MBP. How is this going to be possible without a CD drive?
Do Apple provide any downloadable ISO's, or is there any place I can download untouched ISO's and use my license key to activate it?
I only have 1 other computer in the house and it's Windows.
I only ever install the one disk anyway, I don't install any of the audio content or extras.
    Thanks in advanced.

Hi, find somebody who can lend you an external drive or produce disk images from your installer package, store it somewhere convenient and you're ready to roll.
    Have a nice day!
