New message on stopping filesystem [BUG solved]

Well, today there is an update for filesystem package, and I have installed it by Pacman -Syu, but now when I am stopping PC, and it's going to stop filesystem daemon, appears this message:
umount: /dev device is busy
Before upgrading, it don't appear.
It's normal? Is there anyone who has the same problem?

I have catch some part of the message while rebooting:

Unmounting Filesystems [BUSY]
-> umount: /dev: device is busy
REBOOTING...
That message has appeared to me without any apparent reason... What must I do to solve it? It would be very painfully for me reinstall all again... -.-'

I absolutely agree with you. I know that the forum software is not developed by Oracle, still some words of explanation from the OTN guys is definitely in place, especially about the loss of data.

Stopping the message ping sound on new messages

Is their a way to stop the ping sound associated with the receipt of new messages, either SMS Texts, Emails, etc. on my 8310 Curve using 4.5 software

Go to Profiles. Scroll down to Advanced. Select profile to edit and edit in/out of holster settings. If you want no sound select none under that item (i.e. SMS, MMS, Phone, Cal, etc.)

Mail.app stopped downloading new messages from pop3

Hello,
I met this on both the latest Tiger and Panther: came after two weeks away and had no new mail. Strange. The Mail.app logins to pop3 server, sends a password, looks for the new messages, and that's all. Nothing is downloaded.
When I checked the mail via web browser, I had found about 600 messages there - most of them just a spam, as usual.
Whatever I tried (permissions, delete and create account, rebuild...) nothing helped.
BUT.
When I *manually deleted* some messages (via web browser), Mail.app started downloading. For me it looks like there is some message number limit, about 500 messages, and if there are more messages on the server, nothing is downloaded. I believe it's a bug - at least some error message should appear.

By the way, my Mail App is version 5.3

Mail App stopped downloading new messages from Gmail

I'm using MBP with OS X Lion.
I've been using Mail App for my two Gmail accounts. I also use two different types of mail downloading systems (POP and IMAP) for them. For some reason, the speed of downloading new messages started slowing down a few weeks ago; however, I could still use it until today. Today, it seems like it is completely out.
It just stopped downloading new messages completely.
For the POP account, it says:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “POP” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop.gmail.com” on port 995 timed out.
For the IMAP account, it says:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “IMAP” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop.gmail.com” on port 993 timed out.
The weird part is that I can still send an email out of those accounts fine.
I checked the settings for Gmail, and everything seemed just fine.
I tried to re-do everything so deleted the IMAP account. Now it shows the message below:
The Google IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages.
I tried Connection Doctor and it shows as below:
I followed the suggestion by changing unchecking those boxes for SSL, but it didn't help either.
I tried "Rebuild" under mail box menu bar but it also didn't do anything.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

How do I stop texts from coming to the new Messages app on my macbook?

I was on my computer and wanted to try out the new Messages app so I opened it up, and wrote a message to my g/f and one to my friend. Now everytime they text me I get notifications on my macbook pro. I have clicked the X next to their name on the Messages app to delete the conversation from Messages but whenever they text me I still get pop ups on my macbook.
I do know how to turn of notifications for the messages app completely but I don't want to do that.

You could just disable the Account as has been said (Untick the "Enable this Account" box)
You can remove the Apple ID
GO to the Preferences > Accounts and the iMessages account
Use the Account Detail Button
Use the Sign Out button (Removes ID)
Either or these will stop Messages logging in to the iMessages server and trying to Sync iMessages sent to your Apple ID.

It was very hard to see what the box says because the message displays for less than one second. However, I was able to record it with my iphone and pause it until I got a shot of the message. The box says the following:
"Do you want the application “java” to accept incoming network connections?
Clicking deny may limit the application’s behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall pane of Security preferences."
I did make some changes. I will see if it works.

Make sure Mail is selected in System Preferences > iCloud

Flip the Ring/Silent switch. Make sure Vibrate when silent is off in Settings>Sound.

just had my phone back from repair ( loose screen)
Now the new message envelope symbol in the top lefy hand corner of the screen wont stop flashing
i have reloaded the latest software ( took an hour via the nokia website)

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. Mail 3.4: New Message Bug

I am having a similar problem with 10.5.6 and the newest Mail app.
My IMAP accounts with the provider www.dotster.com, who seem to be using the open source 'Horde' as their server, seem to be working alright, but constantly give me the error message "The server error encountered was: The attempt to read data from the server “mail10.dotsterhost.com” failed." even though I can receive email without issue. In general preferences I attempted increasing the number of minutes in the "Check for new mail:" setting, though this doesn't make the error go away.
In reading other threads, it seems you might try deselecting the "Use IDLE command..." checkbox, though for me these are always greyed-out and checked by default. You might also need to ensure the "IMAP Path Prefix:" is set as "INBOX". Again, this is just what I've gleaned from other threads.

New Message or Forwarding Bug??

This issue has happened intermittently... when i wish to forward a email message i usually type the first letter and it will give me a list based upon my address book entries. This appears to have a bug that i will get a list of email contacts that are NOT in my address book. As a matter of fact none of my address book email contacts pops up. This also is the case when creating a new email. This is weird and i cant seem to get my head around this one to fix it.

First of all have you checked the Previous Recipients list -- Window, choose Previous Recipients. If you are satisfied that all contacts you care about are in the primary AB, then you can remove all those in the Previous Recipients list.
I have not seen the difference in this behavior with Forward vs New Message, btw.
