New Mighty Mouse have better scrollwheel?

The new iMacs ship with a new mighty mouse -- anyone know if there's changes to the scroll wheel so it won't get dirty as easily?
http://usage.wordpress.com/2007/08/14/apple-quietly-updates-mighty-mouse/

Just packing up my old iMac for sale and noticed the color difference. There is a small weight difference (New one is lighter),and the older one with the grey sides and ball matches the new iMac better.

  • New mighty Mouse compatibility with MAC OS X (10.3.9)

I would like to know if the new mighty mouse would work with the MAC OS X 10.3.9 version. On the specs it seems that it requires a 10.4 version ???

The box says 10.4.6 or later. The instruction manual says "to use your mouse and take full advantage of its features, you need: [...] 10.4.6 or later."
The instruction manual also says: "If your Mac is running an earlier version of Mac OS X, you won't be able to install the software from the disc and you may not be able to use all of the features…"
The manual states that users of OSX 10.3.9–10.4.2 can "assign primary and secondary buttons, and activate Exposé. Display Dashboard only in [Tiger]"
So, there you go, from the horse's mouth. It'll work fine, but not as full-featured as if you were running the latest OS.

  • New Mighty Mouse scrolling problem

My just-out-of-the-box Mighty Mouse will not scroll horizontally nor 360. It can't be dirty yet, and the posting referring to artnum=303446 gives instruction for what is way out of my league in the event that someone wants to recommend that approach.

Sorry that I wasn't more clear. What I meant is that the Mouse pane in Keyboard & Mouse is new or at least different for the wireless MM. Those of us with the wired MM have two check boxes Vertical scrolling and Horizontal scrolling, while those of you with the wireless have that new pulldown menu.
Did software come with the new wireless MM or is it just activated and made available when the new wireless MM is detected? There was a post the other day and the guy linked to a screenshot of the wireless Mouse pane. He was wondering how the rest of us could get this new pane. I said maybe it would show up one day in an OS X update. Maybe it already has, but we can't access it without a wireless MM.

  • Brand New Mighty Mouse - ISSUES

I had a wireless Mighty Mouse and it worked perfectly. That was until my 2-year-old daughter got her hands on it. So I bought a new one. But I've been having problems with it. When I'm using it directly beneath my iMac (2 inches away) it works fine. Any further away from the computer and the curser jumps and stutters around. I can't figure out what's going on. Any suggests would be appreciated.

    Hello:
Contact Apple with a warranty issue. There is no reason that should happen.

  • Brand New Mighty Mouse does everything but track please help

    Pairs up nice and quick...
    Scroll ball works fine...
Right and left click are a go....
but it will not track, at all, not an inch
have had this less than two months and only have used it a few times
I reset my SMC and my PRAM still nothing
    I changed the batteries
tried it on a white piece of paper
    please help
also when its paired, the "bluetooth" pane of Keyboard/mice with the battery level meters is blank.
    thanks!

    Hello again:
I want to be sure we are on the same page. Go to system preferences>Bluetooth. Is the only entry your mouse? Go to system preferences>keyboard & mouse>bluetooth. Is your mouse the only entry?
If that all appears normal, try a couple of things (I am fishing a bit):
Go to your home folder (~library>preferences) and trash:
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    com.apple.bezelservices.plist
Then go to MacintoshHD>library>preferences and trash:
    com.apple.bezelservices.plist
Then restart and see if that helps.
Next, I would reset the PRAM:

  • BT Mighty Mouse

    Couple of mice questions:
    1) So who's gonna get the BT Mighty Mouse?
    2) What are people's experience with bluetooth mice anyways? Good or bad?
    3) I was considering the MS Laser Mouse 6000....until this came out. I plan to run Win XP (bootcamp) as well. Just wondering, since Windows requires a right click button wouldn't it make sense to get a mouse with it? Do Mac mice (like the new Mighty Mouse) have any way of right clicking?
I am a Mac newbie by the way - just ordered a 2.0 White MB with 1 G RAM

my bluetooth mighty mouse pairs with my macbook but the cursor barely moves, tons of lag on slowest and fastest settings - clearly a problem. the problem also exists on the windows xp side of the macbook - very strange.
my original bluetooth apple mouse works fine with the macbook and the bluetooth mighty mouse works great on a friend's intel imac!
i installed the new apple mouse software on both intel machines - if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem, please chime in!
if it's a driver problem, i hope apple posts an update soon. i was looking forward to messing around with the new mouse tonight, back to the regular wireless mouse for now...

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse won't work properly with MacBook/tech support stumped

Hi. First post. Anyone heard of this problem? Appears to be location-sensitive. Problem described below, but first, short background...
Just bought entire Mac system after decades in corporate world with PC. Believed the TV ads that it would be simple. Already have been back to Mac store 6 times and have spent roughly 7 hours on phone with help line. Mac store even replaced Macbook entirely in case it was faulty logic board/Bluetooth circuit -- didn't help. Also, problem doesn't happen in store. So, to get to the point:
Wireless Mighty Mouse doesn't work properly when hooked up to Macbook -- herky-jerky, slow, unresponsive, sluggish, imprecise, intermittently better/worse. Went through a few Mighty Mouses and finally gave up; now using hardwire mouse and there's no problem. But before I return Mighty Mouse for refund, would like to see if there's a solution b/c I'd prefer wireless.
System is the latest little souped-up Macbook, 23" HD Cinema external monitor, external wireless Apple keyboard (which works fine), wireless Mighty Mouse (the culprit), Airport Express, HP printer. All brand new from local Mac store (Fifth Avenue, New York)... where the Genius counter folks have given up. I'm not convinced they believe me because (a) the problem doesn't occur there, and (b) after a couple of new Mighty Mouses, they finally just gave me a new Macbook to make me go away... but after going through the whole system setup once again, same problem. Have tried many different mousepads, BTW.
Tried all the stuff phone tech support suggested -- removing/installing/reinstalling software, etc. Airport works fine; using modem and printer connections there. Bluetooth works fine with keyboard. I've scouted around for intefering devices; even unplugged electrostatic loudspeakers and old tubed amps in living room (concrete wall separates rooms), unplugged hifi in same room, etc. On 40th floor of Manhattan hi-rise; concrete walls between neighbors. Have never had interference before with anything; previous PC system worked fine with Microsoft wireless (optical) mouse.
This is no longer urgent because hardwired Apple mouse works well. It's just mysterious.
    Any thoughts?
Other than that, I like the Mac environment so far. Fifth Avenue store is cool, also, because it's open 24/7.

Hey, thanks! That was fast. I'm impressed by the Mac community.
This program helped my hardwired mouse, actually, and did give me wider parameters on the wireless mouse, but it didn't correct the herky-jerky/sluggishness -- actually amplified those problems.

  • Mighty Mouse Changes?

I wonder if the old wireless Mighty Mouse (the one with the grey side buttons) and newer wireless Mighty Mouse (one with side buttons) have any differences in the chipset it uses.
With the older grey side button one, I had jittery issues when my laptop was about 3.5 feet away with the top of the computer shut. Now, with the same setup, but with a new Mighty Mouse (white buttons) the issue seems to have gone.
    {Thanks to Apple Care, they have replaced my old Mighty Mouse which had scrolling issues that I couldn't solve.}

  • Mighty Mouse + Two-Finger Back Swipe = Wheel of Death

I'm a data-mining tech and I'm going to lose my job soon cause this new Mighty Mouse that I thought would be great and even more efficient for Safari surfing has turned into a disaster to use. It's not every time but often, when I use the two-finger "back" gesture, Safari ties up and eventually greets me with the beach ball of death. I think I'm going to have to plug my wired apple mouse back in to be able to work again. I have the special update for this new mouse installed and have even completely reset Safari. Any ideas all? Thx.

    Hello s:
There are only a couple of things I can think of to try (I do not have the new mouse, so I cannot experiment).
    1. Trash a preference file and restart (com.apple.bluetooth.plist).
    2. Reset Safari.

  • Mighty Mouse won't zoom?

I am now onto my 3rd Mighty Mouse in 4 months and I am am having problems with this one as well. Each time the problems have been different, but always centred around the scroll button.
This time round I can scroll, but have no zoom capability. No settings have been changed and the function has been working previously. I have checked system preferences and zoom is set with use of the ctrl button as normal, but nothing happens.
Can anybody help? Does the fault actually lie within my Imac and the mice have been fine and something in there needs fixed or do I need yet another new Mighty Mouse (Wireless version).

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Connect on Mouse Power ON?

So today I purchased a new Mighty Mouse at the Apple Store.
I love it, it's everything I wanted. One thing tho...
I use a MacBook Pro, so I don't always have the need to use my mouse (I usually use it just to game or when I don't want to use the touchpad).
I make use of the ON/OFF switch at the bottom of the mouse. I was just wondering *if there is a way to get the Mighty Mouse to connect automatically when I turn on the Mouse?* Thusfar, I have been needing to go to my Bluetooth preferences to manually connect it once it's turned on.
    Thanks in Advance.

When you turn the mouse on, just click it several times and move it around, it will connect automatically.

  • Mighty Mouse: Problems with it everyday!

Can someone please advise me on what to do with my new mighty mouse? I've had it for a couple of months now, and everyday it is affected by at least one of three functional glitches. These are:
    1. The click, scroll and side bars stop functioning (the movement sensor still functions)
    2. The index finger scroll pimple stop functioning in the up direction only (but not the down).
    3. The movement sensor becomes slow and jittery.
I paid good money for this state of the art bluetooth device, and I expected more. I used a wireless mouse designed for a windows OS last year at it never had problems like this. (And it cost less than half the price!)
I know if I take it back to the shop they will just take it away and test it and I'll be without a mouse for a few weeks, so what should I do? Is it faulty? Is this normal?

This is not normal operation. You should have it checked out. This will help with the scroll ball not functioning in one direction.

  • More settings to Mighty Mouse's ball button?

    Hi!
I use to have a wireless mouse by Logitech. Unfortunately, due to a "dropping it down the stairs from 4th floor last time I moved from an appartment" incident, it is no more.
I used to have my scrolling button configured to make the ever so useful "command-W" action. Is there a way to configure my brand spankin' new Mighty Mouse to do that?
    Thanks!
MacBook(white)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   it shall be put to good use, e.g. rule the world, etc.

My wireless Mighty Mouse works properly with my Mac Mini.
I tried another one with Mac Pro, but the situation is same.
But a wired Migthy Mouse works properly with Mac Pro.
So I'm sure there are some other problems...

  • Cleaning your mighty mouse

dont where to post this, there is no place to post questions on mouse cleaning. i need to open my mighty mouse to clean the track ball. i tried everything the support page said , upside down wiping wife link free cloth cleaning ball. nothing works, i need to open it, why doesnt apple have it so you can open this stupid thing? install they want you to buy a new mighty mouse for 50.00. this is stupid.

Dust, dirt, and such are apt to getting in there. Unplug the mouse, and with a damp cloth, rub up and down, pressing down firmly on the track ball 10-15 times. Repeat side to side, making sure to apply some pressure. This works every time for me when the mouse is acting up or not operating properly.
I have to do this about every other month. Kind of a design flaw with the Mighty Mouse, though I love it and put up with it.

  • Mighty mouse install on a macbook

Do I need a usb mouse and keyboard to set up my new mighty mouse?
I only have the keyboard and track pad that is built in.

check out some of the options with the mighty mouse once its installed, like setting up the right click button. coming from a PC user this was one of the coolest features about the mouse for me.
