New Mini and old wireless keyboard must be 1" apart?

I just bought a brand new Mac Mini to replace older model of same. My old Apple wireless keyboard (probably 1st gen - the battery compartment is on the bottom) was working fine with old Mini, but with the new one, the keyboard loses connection unless the Mini and the keyboard are virtually touching each other. Move the keyboard a few inches away and connection is lost. I've taken all updates, including a BT firmware update, and still the problem persists.
Do I have a bad BT radio in my new Mac Mini?

Resolved. I took the Mini into the Apple store, and the Genius Bar discovered that, when they installed additional memory, that the cable connected to the Bluetooth antenna had disconnected.

If you are using a Bluetooth keyboard on your iPad device, you should take advantage of the keyboard shortcuts for quicker access to copy, cut, paste, undo, redo, and other commands.
    Command + C : Copy Selected Text
    Command + V : Paste
Command + X: Cut Selected Text
    Command + Z: Undo
    Command + Shift + Z: Redo
Command + Delete: Delete everything to the left of the cursor on the current line
Option + Delete: Delete the word to the left of the cursor
Command + Up Arrow: Go to top of document
Command + Down Arrow: Go to bottom of document
Command + Left Arrow: Go to beginning of current line
Command + Right Arrow: Go to end of current line
    F1: Dim screen
    F2: Brighten screen
    F7: Back one song
    F8: Play/pause song
    F9: Skip song
    F10: Mute
    F11: Decrease volume
    F12: Increase volume
Eject button: Show or hide onscreen keyboard

  • I cant establish a connection between Mac mini and the wireless keyboard

I just bought a Mac mini but I can't link the wireless keyboard with the Mac mini

Same with my new mac mini.
Got it brand new via the online shop.
Happy to start with the new mac i really got dissapointed by the fact that it`s impossible to pair the wireless keyboard unless you first connect a USB keyboard to the mac mini and start the configuration.
    THIS ***** !!!
No hint at all from apple that you first have to connect the USB keyboard.
I had to borrowed a USB keyboard from my neighbour :-((
After setting things up it was no problem at all to establish the BT connection with the keyboard.
    Works fine now.

  • Best case for ipad mini and Logitech wireless keyboard that opens like a book?

What is a good case that holds both of these that opens like a book? In other words it is not a sleeve, it poems with ipad mini on one side and my Bluetooth keyboard on the other????

There's likely no "best case" for any device. What works great for some will be detested by others. I can only tell you what I personally use and how it works. My own personal iPads (my wife and my 8 year old son have their own iPads with differing case needs) are pretty much relegated to indoor use. My mini 2 uses the standard-issue Apple Smart Cover. The back is protected (mainly from scratching & dings) by a clear plastic (polycarbonate) shell (purchased at Best Buy, Rocketfish brand) that is Smart Cover compatible (has the proper cutout for the Smart Cover hinge to contact the device properly). This combination works very well for me personally because there are many times when I do not want the Smart Cover on the device, flopping around & in my way...it's easily pulled off of the device when I need it off while the back shell stays on. You can't do that with the Smart Case. This works well enough for me on the mini 2 so I'm adopting the same for my Air 2.

  • TS4456 New Mac mini and older wireless keyboard connect, but don't pair

In setting up my brand new Mac mini, the wireless mouse paired with no problem, but I'm having trouble with the keyboard. I am using an older mouse and keyboard from my previous mini, which is completely shut down. The keyboard shows as being connected to the computer, but when I enter the code and press Return, the code disappears and nothing else happens. After a while the code reappears and I repeat the process with the same results. After several attempts, nothing else happens. I've tried rebooting twice, checked the keyboard batteries, made sure the keyboard light is blinking to show it's discoverable, but I can't move past this screen. I don't know what else to try. Please help!

Hi, it isn't paired to another device is it?
    Might see this...

  • Installing old wireless keyboard drivers on a new bootcamp?

I wanted to share an experience of keyboard problems with windows 7 and bootcamp, and then ask a question about bootcamp on my soon-to-arrive shiny new iMac.
Current machine: Core 2 duo 24" iMac mid 2007; Mavericks; bootcamp created with version 3.0, but then upgraded for Windows 7
Yesterday did an upgrade install from Vista to Windows 7 and installed the latest bootcamp version 4 drivers.  (this was a 32 bit not 64 bit setup - since the Vista I upgraded from was 32 bit).
I then had driver problems with my 2007 vintage wireless keyboard...  The keyboard would work for a moment or two, but then stop.  It was still paired, but nothing you typed showed up in Windows.  (It worked fine in OSX of course...)
Eventually after huge amounts of googling some page gave me the idea of changing the driver for the keyboard.
If you go to Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Human interface devices -> Apple Keyboard then right click and select "Update Driver Software",  then select "Browse my computer", then select "Let me pick", you get a list of all the driver versions that have ever been installed on your computer for that peripheral.  Because I had started out with a Bootcamp 3 installation, which I'd then updated, the version 3.0.0.0 apple keyboard driver was still in the list of available drivers.  Selected that, and bingo, the keyboard worked perfectly.
Only issue is, I've just bought a nice new iMac (arrives next week) and I can't see how I can get the version 3 keyboard driver onto it's boot camp.  I want to set boot camp up from scratch, so that I can have 64 bit windows running.  But if I do that Boot Camp Assistant 5 will install the very latest drivers, presumably including an apple keyboard driver that doesn't like my old wireless keyboard.  And while the bootcamp 4 and subsequent driver sets include separate .exe files for different things (including the keyboard), the 3.x drivers were just a single executable.  And if you try to run it on top of a more recent set of drivers, it just tells you it isn't needed and stops.
Question: Any idea how I can install the 3.0.0.0 keyboard driver on a brand new iMac with Bootcamp 5.0 set up?
(For various reasons I've ordered my new mac with the wired keyboard, but I might still sometimes want to use it with my old wireless one).

It depends on which version of LP9 you own.....
If you don't already own an earlier version you cannot buy Logic Pro 9 any longer from Apple.. It is discontinued....
If you do own an earlier version then...
App Store version? Just sign into the Mac App Store... using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic in the first place...and Logic Pro 9 will be found under the Purchase Tab for you to click on and download..
DVD Version? Install via DVDs .... If you don't have a DVD player in your Mac you will need to purchase an external one.... or use another Mac which has a DVD drive using Remote Disk
DVD or CD sharing: Using Remote Disc
    Install....
Do not run Logic but instead....
Update to 9.1.8 via this link....
    Logic Pro 9.1.8
    Now launch Logic....

I am using Photoshop CS5 on a new iMac with a wireless keyboard.  I used to be able to hit F11 to perform a custom sharpening action but now the F11 key is the volume control key and I have tried everything to disable or switch the volume key. I have also tried assigning other function keys to initiate the action. Is there a simple solution to this? What am I missing?

Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

  • How do I turn on my wireless keyboard and make it 'discoverable'?  I got a message that the batteries were low, so I changed them for new ones and now the keyboard doesn't work.

I got a message saying that the batteries were low, so changed them for new ones and now the keyboard cannot be 'found'. There seems to be no way to turn it on and make it 'discoverable' to the system.  At the moment I'm typing this on a spare keyboard plugged into the  back of my mac via a USB.  Please help!

Have you checked to make sure the batteries are inserted the correct way? Have you tried to turn it on by pushing the right upper (round) edge of the keyboard - if you do that, do you see a tiny little green light? Since you have a wired keyboard, can you get to the Bluetooth setup/preference pane so you can manually try to sync the keyboard?

If you mean AppleCare, then I would believe the answer will be yes.
First make sure you have a full backup of everything on your Mac, then run, don't walk to your nearest Apple store.
Note: Due to your Mac now being in computer years, somewhat elderly, Apple may not have the require parts in stock. This will either mean you might have to leave it with them for a number of days, or maybe they will offer you a new Mac mini. While a new Mac mini (if offered) might be a welcome possibility be aware that the new Mac mini no longer has a CD/DVD drive and it comes with Mac OS X Lion and as a result might not run some of your old software.

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

Did you try deleting the mail account, then adding it back?   I've read a lot of times that is what needs to happen in order for it to work properly.

  • My NEW MAIL and OLD MAIL emails get deleted at random

At least twice in the last week, all of my NEW MAIL and OLD MAIL files were deleted. Some of these are very important files. I cannot work with a system that deletes my files, so that needs to be fixed. Also, I'd like to have ny deleted files restored.

Firefox doesn't even do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
